    I have been fishing for 25 years of my life and I am a 3rd generation tournament fisherman ( although I do tournament fishing more as a hobby ) and I do want to point out that for 20 years of my 25 years of fishing I used strictly berkley trilene big game fishing line. And what I have noticed is that compared to other older original monofilament fishing line brands berkley trilene big game actually has the least amount of memory. You only really notice how much memory it has when comparing it to newer monofilament fishing line brands like KastKing Premium monofilament fishing line for example.

      Very well said and I could not agree more. I don't think "line memory" was a thing back then and it's only with the introduction of more "supple" lines and braids that it became an every day word.

    I've used trilene for 40 years and ill never use anything else. I live in northern Alberta and I've caught everything from whitefish to trout to salmon (in BC). I've fished sturgeon with it and many other species. Cant recommend it enough.

      Exactly. If it works for your purpose, then there's really no reason to change, is there? Anyway, tight lines!

    You either got a bad spool or your are terrible at knot tying. Big game is usually rated 20% below it's breaking strength making it break at its rated strength with a palomar knot.

    interestingly i got very different results. i got this line, same diameter but white in colour. and i testet it with palomar and orvis knots. both knots held up to around the statet 20 lbs... i also tested the 10lbs version same stroy. but when i got a spool of green line it did not hold up to the stated strentgh... im wondering if theres something up with that. maybe the colour pigments are weakening the line or something.

      Hi. I do wonder the same. Either that or the line diameter is not really consistent throughout the whole spool which could explain why people do get varying results if they repeat the test. And how some people can swear by a line and some will never touch it again. Do you have a video of you testing the lines?

    • @123McCookie
      @123McCookie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@x3mgrifter unfortunately i do not have any video. but the diameter is pretty close to the stated 0.38mm/0.25mm on my spools

      No worries. If you have a video, I was going to suggest for us to compare the lines we already have. Anyway, when you said you had the white line... Do you mean the clear one?

    • @123McCookie
      @123McCookie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@x3mgrifter yea the clear line. in 10 and 20 pounds breaking strenth. both of them more or less held up to there rated Lbs values and diameter (the 20lbs line was slightly stronger than 20 lbs and the 10 pound line was like half a pound shy of 10 lbs breaking strenth)

    Knots reduce load capacity. Try it with a hitch arrangement.

      I agree. Knots do reduce load capacity. But having said that, I do fish using knots for hooks and other end tackles - which is why I test the lines using knots.

    I just spooled 40lb on my reel what a freaking nightmare. This line sucks compared to my other line I spooled by myself on 3 different reels no problem at all not one. This line was coming off so crazy with tight circles jumping off the spool with my son holding it with screw driver through and me putting line on same way I've always done. popping off wrapping around screw driver bout 4 times and knotting up had to stop 5 times with knots.. Not pleased at all now i have to go throw a few lures in backyard to make sure its going to even perform at the beach.. either way will try to avoid in the future

      Believe it or not, there are worse lines than this when it comes to line memory. I only have the 20 lbs version in this video so the 40 lbs, being a lot thicker, will definitely have more line memory.

      User error!!! I've never had a problem with this line

      @x3mgrifter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi William. I can't rule out user error or receiving a bad batch. And some of the lines I have tested I have also used without any problems. That's why you're more than welcome to try and test them yourself. And since you said have been using them, you should have some available to test. Let me know the results so we can know if the brand is consistent 👍 tight lines!
