Her father was my uber driver today. He's an amazing person with an unending heart. I'm happy that he shared their story with us. I wish his family all the best.
I have to say that Eri is pretty and she was also handsome when she was Eddie. But what makes her prettier is that she really can accept herself and not afraid to make such a big decision. I also give so much appreciation to her parents for being very supportive. Oh, and I love when she talked in Japanese!
Christopher Hernandez In my opinion that is what true LOVE is . Not a matter of luck. Normally ALL parents love their kids unconditionally but often these parents are so worried about what the world would say that they forget all logic. And when they do not succeed having t their way they withdraw from your life or ban you from theirs. While secretly and painfully still loving you the only way they know.
God Bless this family. You have chosen the right path for your gorgeous and intelligent daughter and all of you. Love your daughter like no other, she is special, she was chosen to be who she really is and has succeeded.
+MsPrettypinkpanther8 True but, God also loves you for "who you are" as long as you love him back and believe and trust in Jesus Christ is your Saviour. We have a friend that is transgender. We've supporter her since she was 14. Now she's a beautiful lady with an awesome husband and super mom to the three kids they've adopted. She's also loved by everyone that knows her, she's a kid's Sunday School teacher, a much loved surgeon and member of our community. She's a devout Christian and is our community youth director. We trust and lover her for who she is and I'm sure God does also.
+MsPrettypinkpanther8 Spoken like a true church goer. Full of judgement and hatred for anything they don't understand. I thank God that I don't hold such a sense of false 'morality' in the name of love. May be when you realise that God exists in us all, and that we are are perfect piece of 'source' which is complete in it's own way, you can begin to truly come from a place of love.
This is an amazing and inspirational story. I am a gay, ex-mormon who recently stopped going to church, and it is amazing to see these parents support their daughter and her choices. I have stopped believing the teachings that I was being taught for a few years now, and I am happy that she, Eri, is so close to her family and the church. I, personally, don't think that the church was made for everyone and that not everyone has to have a religion to be a good or bad person. Religion to me is something that was created by man as a way of judging other people. I don't have a strong relationship with my parents which is really frustrating considering that I am only a teenager, but when I watched this video it really impacted me emotionally and I am so happy for her and that her parents are so supportive of her decision to go through surgery.
Mic N. You're the intolerant bigot. A person is born with trillions of cells that all code for gender. Make no mistake with that. Every single one of those trillion cells all code for a person to be a male or female. These people are messed up in the head. You are too closed minded to understand that.
No matter if she is allowed to return to the church or not, the important thing is that her family still loves her and wants to be in her life. So many other parents have disowned their children or cut all ties because they do not want to deal with the "embarrassment" of having a transgendered child. Kudos to Eri's parents and family.
Assuming that God made us all, then He had a role in designing me as trans. Making me as He did, He challenged me to find myself no matter how hard the road. In starting transition, even at a late age, I was accepting that challenge. Enduring the stigma and critical comments made me stronger in my faith in myself, as no doubt Eri also feels. Eri, myself, and other trans are especially challenged, In my opinion, to go against certain restrictions and find ourselves. To be denied in a faith - any faith - is a failure of those making decisions to appreciate that just as God made them "normal" and gave them other challenges, God made us trans, making our life harder to live and explain to others. To deny that challenge would be the greatest of mistakes and a failure of God's plan of us.
U r an amazing young woman that has such an amazing family and friends. I'm an FtM but I'm so SO proud of families that support their children that r going through things like this. Stay amazing girl😄😇😎
I must say this has got to be so hard for her, I can just imagine because I too am Trans but have not came out. Living this life can hirt so much and its so hard to figure out what to do. I wish my ex sister-in-law who was shunned by her biological family and by the Mormon church because of her transgender operation desire, makes me have hope for her after watching your story. Even though I have divorced her brother, I still lover her and support her desire to be the gender that she truly feels she needs to be to feel complete through and through. One day I hope she can become the man she so needs to be. Thank you for your story. It is inspiring to me for my lesbian daughter as well and what my daughter went through when she was growing up Catholic and inevitably left the church.
