      We are obsessed with progress of Indian Cricket rather. It makes no sense in making t20 teams and filling them up with some internationals and destroying international cricket. Anyway BCCI will kill anyone who talks such sensible things on Indian TV.

If the bowler is 100% sure that he can dismiss the batsman, he will not resort to these gamesmanship issues, whether you would like to call that as banter or sledging or mental disintegration etc. Yellow card and Red card make a lot of sense because they are aimed at eliminating bad behavior, and bullies will be put on notice right way. The ball topic is my favourite subject.
    I think what I'm about to say is more fair and understandable as suggested by the panelists.
    For many years Australia have been championing the kookaburra ball as 'the test ball'.
    Everyone knows however that the kookaburra ball is not a great ball.
    The best cricket ball ever manufactured is the reader cricket ball.
    This cricket ball very rarely if ever loses its shape. It has more lacquer on it , is hand stiched and reverse swings best.
    In 1992 and 1996 when Pakistan toured England a toss was made to see which ball should be used , the reader or the duke ball.
    On both occasions Pakistan won the choice of ball and chose the reader ball.
    This particular ball had a tendency to reverse swing in test cricket from about the 60th over and it would reverse in very late.
    Pakistani bowlers wasim and waqar used to reverse the ball with inswinging yorkers as this ball would boomerang in.
    I remember in the 6th test of the 1981 ashes test when Ian Botham got the ball to reverse swing at the oval. However he didn't do it at yorker length.
    In terms of what should be allowed to be done to the ball.
    1.apply saliva , sweat and fingernails.
    2.You should be allowed to throw the ball from the deep 1 bounce on the square to gain reverse swing.
    3.Shine on trousers
    4.Everything else should be outlawed.

      I absolutely agree with you, ditch the kookaburra, use the duke ball.

    • @utha2665
      @utha2665 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't agree with fingernails. No sharp objects or rough objects to change the condition of the ball. If a player needs to clean the seam, then it should ONLY be done in the presence of an umpire. Anything else should be deemed as tampering.
      Lollies, gum or candy I'm not convinced of, most payers chew gum or suck lollies/candy. These should all be tested though to see if they somehow enhance the ball condition. With maybe a list of approved gum and candy, this takes the ambiguity away.

    • @chandrajitjoshi3281
      @chandrajitjoshi3281 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The conditions matter too. You can't use a duke ball in places like India, south Africa or Australia because the duke or reader ball are suited for conditions like england. If you use the duke or reader ball on hard pitches they will scuff up very quickly and will get soft very quickly too.

    20-20 is like fast-food and it has reduced bowlers to garbage. I agree with these gentlemen that 20-20 be limited to domestic only. Shane Warne's idea of no fielding restrictions in one-day matches is certainly worth trying out, it can make one day cricket further interesting. Not restricting no. of overs a bowler can bowl is another interesting concept. For test matches, I personally feel they should be reduced to 4 days. Each side bats for one day (90 overs). If the batting side is bowled out before the end of day, the other team utilizes the remaining overs. There must be a win/loss result, concept of draw must be eliminated.

  • @aznfratboy1
    @aznfratboy1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Completely agree with Holding. Context for the T20 is pointless at the international level, merely a series of quick and fast games wedged in in front of or behind the main attraction (Test matches), as a quick way to make a few dollars.
    Holding has echoed exactly verbatim what I have said for years. Let T20 be completely privatised (Big Bash, IPL etc), and at an international level just ask the cricketers to play Tests and ODIs, with a hastily assembled T20 tournament every four years.

    • @kushagra782
      @kushagra782 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nicholas Wood this way cricket will never reach a wider audience and will only be limited to a certain audience and that is not good for the sport as well.
      20/20 is bringing more crowd in and the fast paced game is perfect for today's world where nost of the people dont have time to watch a 5 day match

    • @nicholaswood3063
      @nicholaswood3063 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kushagra Jalal the IPL is fine, the Big Bash is fine. Watching Australia v west Indies at 20/20 holds little interest without context. A world cup 20/20 has value. Random 20/20 international matches mean little outside the world cup

      Repeating foul and abusive language should be banned,that's not too hard for umpires to enforce,heavy fines and banned.The players probably wouldn't care about any test match bans,however,with the fat cheques from India.

    • @harro9689
      @harro9689 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What if the stump microphone doesn't pick the abuse up and the umpire didn't hear it ? Does the perpetrator get away with it or does he get fined on the word of the batsman ? I'm beginning to think it would be best to ban talking between opposing team members on the field altogether. This would be a little bit sad, but it's probably the only surefire way of eradicating sledging from the game.

  • @neelpatel15

    I have an idea for One day cricket if anyone is listening. You count the 50 overs as 300 balls and each bowler can bowl maximum of 60 balls. Now it is up to the fielding team to decide how many balls does the bowler get to bowl (still minimum 6 balls)He can ball 10 balls if he likes and then switch ends for a bowling change. That would be a great leveller between bat and ball since the bowler can out think the batsmen more often then now.

    Interesting comments. About T20... Having starting playing it at 14yrs old (30yrs ago) I loved the concept. When the ECB brought it in domestically in 2003 I had a discussion with my Dad and we both agreed at the time that this format would take over the game in under 10yrs! Why? Yes, it's exciting and crash-bang-whallop, but it's also pure! You don't have to mess around with the rules, like 50vs cricket as to! There is room for all the formats and I agree with the panellists on keeping T20 for domestic audiences and a WC every 4yrs. Tests should be for 6 or 7 nations and then the others can concentrate on ODI and T20 World Cups! Tests should be the pinnacle of the game, and again as a kid growing up in the 90s it felt like every team touring England was the best in the world! Apart from the Ashes battles, they don't seem to have the same relevance anymore.

    I really believe such important discussions on the future of cricket should include representatives from all major cricketing nations, not just Australians and South Africans. This will eliminate bias in the feedback for the future of cricket and give a more fair perspective on what should happen for the future of cricket. Major cricketing nations are England, Pakistan, India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

It is becoming more and more exciting in this T20 era, batsmen are more aggressive and bowlers have become clever. I just loved IND VS SA series recently.
