Your repack on this kit is probably the best kit you've shown on the channel yet! If you've ever mentioned where you live I forgot it but the kit you showed here would even suffice for my area (the mountains of SW Montana). And even though the kit is large/comprehensive I don't think anyone would find it a burden to carry. So many guys think everything you need fits in a candy tin but the reality of survival is that it can be very challenging. Last camping trip my buddy and I packed in to about 6,500 feet and the first night it got down to 30 degrees F (and bear in mind this was in July). I know my small thermometer was correct because there was a hard frost. Anyone that camps, hikes, fishes, hunts or recreates in a locale like this has to be prepared to survive a couple of day where the daytime temps are 85 and the overnights can get down to freezing.

I love how you packaged the items into a bigger kit. My EDC kit I carry in my bag is ever changing and has protein bars in but I could easily swop these out for the cereal bars. You have given me a great idea thanks.

After the Air Force Pilot Survival Modules video, I bought one of those BPS knives. They make a very nice smallish survival knife for a larger kit or when you're someplace where the regs limit the size of knife you can have. Thanks for the tip! Given how much room you had in that kit, instead of the personal hygiene items, I'd have tried to add a small metal cup for heating/boiling water or metal box/cooking pan from another survival kit.

I might had a clip on cup on the outside or at the top of the main compartment

I like how you repurposed that bag. And by the way nice set up there. Light and small. I like it. Great job. I was Realy more into the food tasted. 😮 guess I'll have to look up Steve's vid. Lol. Thanks tho. And again nice set up . I'm going to have to repack a smaller bag now. THANKS. 😄😷

You could add a pair of socks and an extra layer in the two front pockets, giving comfort and warmth and a morale boost 🙂

Good call adding the life tent! Though bivies are good, they are thin. The tent will protect you from the weather so the bivy can do it's job. As for the toiletries, good call. Just don't leave tp all over! This is a more than adequate survival bag!

If I could make a suggestion... Buy a vacuum sealer to vacuum pack the contents of your kit. It saves a bunch of airspace if you are trying to add a bunch of items into a tight container. Benefits - Waterproofing, Organization, and low cube storage. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks!

    • @KitbashedSurvival

I am planning on getting a vacuum sealer in the future. Thanks!

@@KitbashedSurvival I was able to make a pretty elaborate micro survival kit and fit it into a Large Solkoa Suma Container thanks to my vacuum sealer.

If you don't have a vacuum sealer. Using a straw and sucking as much air as possible will do the trick. Looke it up on TT.

I know you love the tube tents, but one 55 Gal Contractor bag (or two) and a lightweight basha/tarp (w/stakes & ridgeline) are more durable and adaptable. You can tape the Mylar blanket to the inside of the tarp to reflect heat from a fire. Keep the survival bivy though! Cheers and love the channel.

I never see anyone ever add a few keychai size bells along along with fishing lines. If you're in survival mode and camping. Having a fishing line and some bells to make perimeter to alert you if a 4-legged or 2-legged intruder is near you. I think that would be a great add on.

Good video. I almost didn't watch it because I thought here we go, ANOTHER taste test, but I have watched every video you've done, and I'm glad I did. I like that you're sticking with your channel theme.
I would drop those small water packets and just add one bottle of water. That's what I do even in my rucks, I put two 20oz. bottles in double zip lock bags along with a small towel wrapped around them, just in case one leaks, but that hasn't happened in over 15 years of doing it like this. I swap them out every year or so, and call it good. I figure 40oz. of water should be enough to get me to more water where I can fill up my military 5 quart bladder, and refill the bottles, and have plenty of water at that point. I mean if you're going to carry water, at least make it worth while, and also add another container.
The other thing I LOVE is my silk sleeping bag liner. Those heavier silk liners REALLY do add 10 to 12 degrees of warmth to whatever you have and are well worth the price for such a compact item that does keep you warm. Just get the heaviest momme rated silk you can find, at least around the 25 momme or higher. It will cost more but they are much tougher and stronger liners. Keep up the great work.

the flat front pouch would be a good place to toss in a bandana and/or shemagh. and possibly a flat pack of gum or, even better, caffeinated gum.

These are in the scram pack in the air warrior kit on Army aircraft in Alaska . They are pretty tasty, make good hot porridge for cold climates.

Honestly, think you should add a water bottle or canteen of some sort. Always see these kits and have always been skeptical of the bags provided. Even a collapsible canteen would be better in my opinion.

I would replace the Charmin with Wysi Wipes. They are multi purpose. Great for outdoor/survival use. The volume versus utility is higher as well. They will take up less space even in a plastic container. Canadian Prepper has dedicated several videos to that product alone. I also believe it to be an extremely useful item as well. And they’re really inexpensive.
