Rocket vehicles like the Sturmtiger are very popular among WT players, but there's one that you don't often see in battles. The BM-13N Katyusha might just be the most exotic rocket arty vehicle in the game (except for the RBT-5, but that's more of a hybrid). Given it isn't great at destroying tanks, there might be a good reason for that.

@@WenhopOfficial There's non player Katyusha trucks in some maps serving as destructible props, one actual Katyusha hid alongside those props and ambushed OP

Back when fulda gap had prop tanks all around. I hid on a cap as a T-62 and would kill people trying to cap.

Every other bombers gunners: Completly blind and shooting bb guns.
PE 8 gunners: Han and Luke shooting those turret blasters on the millenium falcon.

@@keelled i have a max level 75 crew in my bombers, they still dont do shit 9/10. Unless the Turret is firing a big cannon round.
It's funny because I hear everyone say the back gunners are bad but I've had my stuka gunners shoot down 6 different players who tried to hunt me down in air rb

At least, this lineup would be effective. The calliope and the M26 T99 can really stomp because they have gun depression, usable armour and they have a gun in addition to the rockets. Plus, they have a working turret that can eliminate the need for precise positioning to hit the enemy.
When 'Alpha Strike' goes live in a few weeks, you've got to give the M60-2000 (Or as it's called in-game, the 120S) a try.

It’s called that because it IS the 120S. The M60-2000 is an entirely different tank that people mistakenly think is the 120S. What we’re getting is the 120S, not the M60-2000.

@@ZzVinniezZ The M60-2000 was a different upgrade proposal for the M60. It’s essentially an M60A1 with additional armor installed around the turret and the fire control system of the M1A1. It retained the 105mm gun of the M60. The 120S, meanwhile, is what we’re getting in-game: an M60A1 hull with an entire M1A1 turret plopped on top. TH-cam really likes deleting links, but if you’d like I could try to find a way to share pictures of the actual M60-2000.

I believe the 20 might be the worst vehicle in the game. Slow, massive, immobile, weak autocannon with HVAP, can be 50caled anywhere, MILANs never fail to let me down. Its astonishing. its the only vehicle i have a 0.5 KD in.

I've been planning to get like an AA lineup with G6 (gotta get the HE-VT shells), Bosvark (maybe skink too) and maybe the Ratel 20.
@@connivingkhajiit oh trust me i've been trying to get decent footage for WEEKS but no dice. Its like once you get a funny kill everyone immediately knows your exact coordinates and starts homing.
@@Vaiski25 It can somewhat but the turret traverse is pretty slow for keeping up with aircraft, plus limited gun elevation. You really gotta get the gun velocity down and hope they fly into your line of fire, plus you’re a giant target so if you mess up they win.
G6 can work but they proxy fuze trigger is small aswell as how far you can turn the turret, on top of this a long reload. It does have good elevation so its really best used against dive bombers but you gotta pray that you nail them before they get any shots off at you because otherwise you’re dead.
Bosvark is decent. The 37s are really good against planes, if you hit them they're basically done for. However its a big target so you have to play it sneaky to avoid getting strafed and if they drop a bomb near you its over. the cab of the truck also limits the angle the gun can shoot.
Best strat is finding a building as you can have your turret crew peaking out while the cab guys remain in cover.
Skink is a mixed bag, you get great armor to defend against most aircraft cannons but the polstens do surprisingly little damage, if I had a penny for every "hit" I've got I could buy Gaijin and fix the game.
Ystervark is somewhat underrated. You get an R3 gun so you can be a gremlin against tanks and its a much smaller target/more hideable than most SA vehicles. This does come at the cost of a more compact, smaller crew so if a plane does spot you then you best hope theres some overhead cover and he doesnt have bombs otherwise you’re dead. It also shares the Bosvark's issue of the gun cab limiting shooting angles but even worse so.
The balloon sound effect over rockets will never not be funny

I saw him use the suspension a lot, in a decent amount of clips he was at like 3 degrees of elevation instead of 7

Ironically, this thing actually has a lot of elevation, but no depression. Only its user is allowed to have depression, but not the vehicle.
Rocket vehicles in War Thunder either have the potency of atom bomb or a nerf dart
thank god a new spookston video, ive watched almost all of his old videos at this point
the only reason the BM-13N is so rare is because the event it was featured occurred during a holiday so nobody was online, and the task was to get an Ace with the mini rocket tank, which fires one of the worst rockets in game. This was before overpressure/hullbreak too. Oh, and the required vehicle was a premium that got price hiked right before the event.
So the ONLY reason the BM-13N was actually achievable was because there were so many people in the crappy rocket tank that mixed battles allowed you to kill other rocket farmers and everyone not in the event were using SPAA to stem the flood of rocket farmers.
Add Katyusha to the list of 'vehucles players want to obtain but gaijin says no give me $75 for premium copy pasted vehicles'
Am I the only one who prefers Spookstons solo content more? Hearing other voices in these videos sounds so jarring.

Might be connected to the fact that many early assault guns of Germany, Italy and USSR have open hatch for their gunner periscope so technically they are open top vehicles for sake of overpressure that hits near it?

Fun fact, the Celere Sahariano was a joint development alongside the Katyusha rocket system between italy and the soviet union, which would later lead into the development of the t34 and kv1
Another rare sight in ground RB is the crusader mk.3, a great light tank with a powerful 6 pounder gun, good mobility and a low profile. A vehicle you should definitely play because I've been desperately trying to get you to for months now
i honestly do prefer the Cromwells, but the Crusaders are still fun
@@r.ndomperson the cromwell is faster with better armour but the acceleration on the crusaderbis superior due to the lighter weight, thr tank is slightly lower and it gets scouting at a lower br
That vehicle is unlocked when you purchase the Brit starter pack so it's not very rare at all. Great vehicle for sure.

You should try the Su-85A. It was an event vehicle a few years back. 4.0 russian 85. I use it pretty often but ive never seen anyone else use it.

Just so you're all aware because a lot of people don't seem to know. Both of the rocket trucks have adjustable suspension, you can incline them forward to fire closer to you.
looking back at the video looks like Spookston uses it, not sure if he mentions it though.

I got into a 20 minute artillery dual with katushya while driving a type 75 mlrs. It was cross map as we lobbed rocket after rocket moving meters at a time to avoid counter battery. Neither of us got eachother but accidentally got passing opponents who didnt notice the rocket barrages

This truck is what finally made me bind the hydraulic keybindings; it's much harder without them
its so much better to play the rocket artillery trucks in arcade, because you can reload all of your rockets in like 1 minute, so you don't have to go to a cap, you can just stay far away and keep sending your rockets, it's especially fun with the BM-31-12
