    Ive been setting up the retropie foir my boyfriend, and Ive been going through your videos. Just want to give a shout out for honestly being probably the best channel for figuring this stuff out. Its been a big help. Especially since it seems to be more complicated than other emulators. Thanks.

    • @BananaGeekLord
      @BananaGeekLord 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ceelo Mully Yes. Usually, in America at least, when two people date they refer to the other person as their boyfriend or girlfriend, depending on the other person's gender. Partner, significant other, or darling are other terms used.
      According to Google, in some Spanish speaking countries they use chariño/a. I'm france, con saucisson. In Italy, mio amor. In Germany, mausebär. In Ireland, mo chuisle. In Russia, golubchik/golubushka. In Persia, moosh bokhoradet.
      There's actually quite a few for different places, but those are some examples.

    You have to save it under the configurations under the Main menu (retroarch's/retropie's) not the Quick menu (the one for the pcsx core). Anything you change outside of the options under the Quick menu have to be saved outside of the quick menu and will probably carry over across different cores (assuming retropie works exactly like retroarch in this manner)

      I did mine with a program called PSX2PSP. It combines the disc ISOs to a single PBP, and compresses them. It also seems I don't need a .CUE file to make it run, as well.

    Thanks for the pointers!
    I found psx2psp v.1.4.2 on-line
    As a rare/reluctant Windows user I thought I would post some tips for Ubuntu and Ubuntu based Linux based Operating systems.
    I had to disable the theme, to make the choosing of roms possible; but then it said it was missing a file called base.pbp.
    I had to scour the Internet for it!
    I'll link that file, and the complete version I'm using my Google-drive and bit.ly link shortening service.
    In the options I turned the compression all the way right(9), and gave it a default input/output folders for convenience.
    I had the unrar package installed(sudo apt install unrar), so I was able to just right-click in my Gnome-nautilus based file manager(caja Linux mint mate(works just like any other Gnome based file manager)); and selected "extract here".
    In order to run the program I had to install a couple of packages:
    $ sudo apt install wine-stable win32 -y
    then to run just use the following command in the directory with the .exe.
    $ wine-stable ./PSX2PSP.exe
    In most Gnome based distribution's file manager's you can Right-click and select open-terminal here, in the file manager if your not used to navigating the command line interface; to get your terminal in the right folder.
    ~~~~~~
    Full working application in Windows/Ubuntu(Linux)(with wine):
    bit.ly/2MqEtli
    If you already downloaded version 1.4.2 and just need the tiny base.pbp file in your files folder(because you got an error). Just download/extract the following to your psx2psp_v.1.4.2/Files/ folder.
    bit.ly/2Msw7JV
    I hope this helps the minority of Desktop Ubuntu/Linux users out there who prefer community over corporate Desktop/laptop Operating systems/software for whatever reasons.
    Hi, I have a problem with a specific game resident evil 2, I have a PBP file but every time I go on the quick menu and change the disk as you show in the video, it just doesn’t work as I try to restart the game it give me a black screen. If you can help me on that, that would be awesome thanks I know this game is not the same as a normal game disk change because they don’t ask you to change disk, first disk is Leon play and second disk is claire !
  • @greedoslowhand
    My PBP files play fine, but they don't want to scrape at all, so they don't show up when I have Parse Games List checked. I sort of need to have that checked, or it'll take 4+ minutes to load Emulation Station. When it's unchecked I can manually scroll to an unscraped game, edit the metadata and select save (this worked great for other systems that had games that wouldn't scrape - so at least they would show up in the menus later on), but for some reason the PS1 eboot games won't take, and don't show up at all with Parse Games List checked. Is this because they are classified as PSP games? Do I have to add them to the gameslist.xml manually? Any ideas on how to get my PBP files (ie multidisc PS1 games) to show up in the Playstation menu? Thanks!
    (using these files for hakchi2) is it safe to rename the .PBP files to the GameName.PBP ? having them all the same name makes save files mess up doesn't it? or does just changing their name in Hakchi2 fix it?
    mine are all named Eboot.PBP
    and does this work above 2gb now? before heard this method didn't work above that. on hakchi2
    a easy tutorial to save map keys. RETROARCH > MAIN MENU > QUICK MENU > CONTROLS (refine your're joysticks and buttons ). Then *** if you select "Save Core Remap File" will save the mapped keys to all game(s) for that specific emulator. *** If you select "Save Game Remap File" only for that specific game.
    fast way with .cue & .bin: 1st save state to mem card
    go to the Disk Control menu, use "Disk Image Append" and chose the next disk. In my case, the game hangs up (RE:2) at this moment but I already saved the state, now I can exit the emulator and load the next disk. BUT you have to do this on every swap!
    I don't like mapping new commands, the standard setting already is troublesome the way it is. I actually had to disable some mappings to get some games playable. For instance, on any Syphon Filter games, you have to press X to crouch. Your weapon selection key is SELECT, so, if you are crouching to take cover or whatever, and try to change your weapon, you will reset your game, because SELECT + X is the default mapping for RESET.
    Im pretty sure if you save your config, then it saves it as a secondary config, so it never overwrites the original config. so then you go into your configs, and name your new config that you saved , the same as the default config, then it loads your new config every time.
    With the hotkey thing you need to edit your "core override" file manually. Not retroarch.cfg Extract the lines you need for on your retroarch.cfg copy them into the Core override cfg. Retroarch won't save certain things like hot keys when you hit save core override.
    I made my own ff7.pbp and it ended up being 1.99gigs. How can I make a working pbp of ff7 to work on RetroPi? I need help. Also, I didn't have any images when I scrap for the thumbnail.
    Can't get these pbp files to work on my raspberry pi 3. Tried Metal Gear Solid and Legend of Dragoon. Shows game studio introduction, but won't do anything else for either game after that. Using same lr-pcsx-rearmed emulator, and files work on my psp. Do you need a cue file for pbp for retropie to recognize?
      I got LOD to work(at least play) from pbp, but I started from 4 disc iso files. These files were originally bin/cue files, but I like iso's better; so I used a windows app on Linux through wine called winbin2iso to convert them. After I renamed the .state & .srm files to match the pbp file-name I was good to play. Although I'm still near the end of disc one, so I haven't tried switching discs yet only general gameplay. My compression was set to highest and my theme turned off. I needed to search the net for a file it was asking for called base.pbp running V.1.4.2 of psx2psp. Hope that helps.
    Am I missing something? Can’t you just go into the retroarch menu and load the disc?
    I'm hoping you can help me with something. I have just got myself a retro pi 3B online with retropi 4.3 'Jessie-whatever that is' works fine however when i am trying to update it via the retro pi settings you know scripts etc it doesn't seem to be able to do it so i was going to start a fresh image of 4.4 on a SD card as it's advised so i wanted to start by backing up my data via dragging and dropping the current retro pi folders onto my windows on my PC and copying my BIOS, ROMS, CONFIG and SPLASH SCREENS folders however it goes to copy then stops........do you know if there is any other way to transfer the folders to a new SD card or directly onto my PC as I have a lot of ROMS and game saves there and don't want to loose them. Also my Dreamcast emulator on 4.3 doesn't work but i tested it on a fresh 4.4 build and it works fine, Thanks hope you get this.
      Might be a little bit late now but you can use a program called WinSCP to login to the Pi and browse the folder structure of it. From this program you can upload and download files from the Pi. You can easily get all your saves etc this way
      ETA PRIME excellent thank you. Love all your videos. I have used almost all of them! What is the core used for? Does it replace the firmwares? My psx firmware works just fine. What makes this better?
    Can you tell me how you get multi track psx games to work?
    Love your videos. My Retropie wouldn't be the same without them. Thanks
      @Warren Turner - You can actually get this theme inside of retropie. Go to the retropie menu, find ES themes, look for update install themes, scroll down to Trunkyfran(bottom of list usually), then back all the way out to your main menu, click either select or start (think it's select) and look for UI settings. In that menu scroll down until your see the Theme option (should have an option to the right of it with carbon as default theme) and push left or right on the controller until you have Trunkyfran selected and simply select it. It should for a brief moment appear like the screen it frozen, after a few seconds it should refresh and you will see the new theme.
    2 options to save configurations in Retroarch:
    Manual : MAIN MENU > Configurations > Save current configuration
    Automatic : MAIN MENU > Settings > configurations > Save configuration on exit
      It might have something to do with the retroarch package being updated and the configuration restored to default, or maybe if you configure your inputs again on emulationstation it overwrite retroarch input configuration, if I remind well, RetroPie use the emulationstation input config file to pre-configure controls on all retroarch compatible emulators.
    Hi ETA, My raspberry pi3 running the lr-pcsx-rearmed emulator is not able to boot my .pbp files. The RPI3 finds the files but when trying to launch them the screen goes black and I am returned to the games list. I have all the PSX bioses in the BIOS folder, but it does not use any of them. It runs some games in HLE mode instead.
    Have you seen this before?
    Thank you in advance and thank you for the great content.
