Having seen different horses seen to by different farriers, I think Rudnik's behaviour was impeccable. The farrier also has a very good "hoof-side" manner.
So many great comments/stories in your vids! Ty so much. Take good care, all of you out there in horselovers' land - no matter where it is! Blessed 🐝...
I have a friend who rescued 3 horses and a donkey from an auction here in AZ & RJ the donkey probably never had too many people who were kind to him in his life,he’s 20 and according to the vet who examined him it’s believed that RJ was used in the horrific “sport” of donkey roping for anyone who doesn’t know what that is you can look it up but the details are pretty sickening I cried when reading about it (he’s missing a chunk of his tongue)and he had an issue with his ears being touched which from what we learned makes sense. He is the sweetest donkey and he has every right to hate humans but he doesn’t,the boy is such a forgiving soul. I’m so thankful that there are kind people like you,my friend Kelly and others in the equine world from farriers to vets who are willing to take things slow with animals who have had a difficult or traumatic past bc no animal should be treated with a harsh hand,Rudnik & his fancy feet are so dashing. Thank you for giving him such an amazing life you 2 were meant to be.🐎🤗💙🖤
Yeah, pushing up the lungs and your heart gets pushed into a whole new position. I saw one singer performing live while looking 8,5 months pregant and I don't know how she managed. Being taller maybe helps.
There is always a day in August in Canada where you can feel that autumn is coming. The sun may be shining and the temperature in the 20’s (Celsius), but there’s a bite of cooler weather. I felt it 2 weeks ago. 😊 Rudnik is such a lovely horse.
Today feels like it should be in later September or October. It's been raining all day and it's 16°C. It's a dreary day in Saskatchewan. Watching Rudnik getting his toes done with his head on hers made me smile. He's such an endearing boy and you are so blessed to have him. Thank you for your posts. I thoroughly enjoy watching them.
He’s so beautiful 🫶🏾 Loved him settling his head on hers ( she was SO good with him. Hate to tell you but the winded feeling is going to get worse, but for good reason. Kid’s getting bigger so the push on your diaphragm is going to continue to limit breathing capacity, but Hey, it won’t last forever so just keep taking care of yourself and your gorgeous guys (including City Boy cause he’s Rudnik’s buddy).
He’s such a love bug too - I’m so glad she’s so patient with him. I know some would be irritated with him resting his head on them like that but she just loves it! Sounds like a fun ride ahead for me 🥲😂
You took the words out of my mouth , I remember being so packed in there lolol ,I had to sit up and sleep the last two weeks to breathe. My girl was the worst for that.
Rudnik is such a handsome boy! I love the way his colour changes towards his handsome head which is so smooth and dark! Dear Rudnik likes the farrier. He’s trying to help and give her a bit of encouragement. 😂 And my , she appreciates it I should think, it must be a back breaking job. As Gayle rightly said the breathlessness is very common and normal in pregnancy because the growing uterus takes up more space in the abdomen. Just make sure you iron levels are up to scratch though, iron deficient anaemia causes breathlessness too and is also a common problem with the growing babe gobbling up resources! 😅. Your Doctors office should be willing to do an extra test if you are at all concerned.
I was very lucky to grow up in the suburbs of London UK. in the 1950s when milk and beer were delivered by horse drawn carts, the brewery horse were magnificent Shire horse while the milk float horses were smaller cross bred ones, but lovely horses non the less. My uncle farmed a market garden in N. Wales and he ran a pair of Shires for ploughing and singled up for cart work etc. So Saturday I'd help the milkman deliver his rounds on streets packed with semi-detached houses, the great thing in having a horse was the milkman would work up one side of the street, dropping milk bottle orders off at each front door, he'd have enough in each crate to serve maybe 6 or 8 house's. As he progressed the horse would stroll on and be ready by the 8th house for the milkman to load up again. Sadly the horse's were replaced by electric floats and the milk rounds took longer as the poor milkman had to keep moving the float. School holidays were spent on the farm and crop picking was worked the same way as the old milk float, the horse would work the rows slowly plodding along, the pickers would make a click sound to speed up and a gentle wow to slow down. Picking strawberries would mean a handful of the too small ones at the end of each row for the horse. What ever was being picked that day and the horse's could eat would be added to their evening meal. Lunch times they would graze the hedge rows and headlands, after work us kids would follow them to the farm pond where they waded in to cool off and sip water, until they had enough. Then off to a large shed that was open boarded to keep cool in summer, but had a wind proof box for winter. The outer gate had baling string keeping it closed, a fire years ago in fresh hay had nearly taken them and so now they had an escape route. The horse knew the daily chore by the tack being put on and would walk to the implement that was to be used that day, without being led. Tractors came onto the farm and the horses retired to the orchard, though some cart work was used to keep them entertained. When the day came each was buried in the orchard and a new tree planted, so they were never forgotten.
Lovely descriptive memories of a gentler time. I was born in 1950 also, but "out in the sticks" of rural Suffolk. Similar pony & trap - or horse & cart - deliveries of milk, coal & groceries. We grew all our own vegetables. No supermarkets, imagine that!
Thank you for sharing those memories! As easy & convenient as modern life has become, we now have multiple generations who never connected with the land & with the horsepower that made it productive. A shame. Though a runaway team or a bitchy bossy would certainly ruin a day.
What an awesome story! I lived it as I read your memories. Thank you so very much. Just a beautiful memory and you wrote about it so well I could see the story.
@@rudniktheroan The beginning rough as you adjust but then about 4 5 months you start to feel like the strongest thing on earth,,,, about a day before birth you will find yourself doing crazy things you rarely do... scrubbing tubs, walls, chandeliers lol when that burst of energy comes, your close. It is wonderful and you will do fine. love to you all xoxo
I know you may be feeling a tad anxious and of course sad that you’ll be farther from Rudnik once he’s at new home. Sending lots of love and support ❤❤ it’ll be ok. He’ll learn, if he doesn’t know it already, that regardless where he rests his head you’re his forever Mom. ❤❤
We can feel the changes in North Dakota, summer is on the wane. Autumn is fast approaching. I think our animals are ready to enjoy the cooler mornings.
This (horse care) takes me back 75 yrs + in U.K. SE England Loving the close bond you have with Rudnick Thanks for posting and Blessings on your life with all beings!.
It's a great storey you are telling. I'm fairly new to the channel but glad to be along for the ride. I think we are about to get a cooler bit of weather overnight. Cheers from midtown Toronto.
Oh, the babies are exhausting. And then there's the window between birth and crawling when you are lulled into a sense of security because they aren't mobile. It's the moment they're mobile that will be exhausting again.
I was about to get out the calculator to work out how cold it was whilst wondering why you weren’t wearing a coat, then realised you are in Canada so no conversation necessary! It’s just slightly colder for you than it is here in Wales. 😂
Am very new, so first, may I say congratulations on your new blessing !!! You look wonderful Mama. This old gal remembers the whole no energy thing but so very worth it. Can I ask why that gorgeous boy is going to a new home ???
2nd video & she got me too. I was all, she doesn’t sound like the UK, sounds like us. I tend to blend us North Americans together, forget there are differences between Mexico, Canada & the States. Small ones, you know like language, temps & measurements 🤣
“Fat for muscle”. That’s a plan for everyone! lol SUBSCRIBE so we get to be part of his care and feeding. Feel like I have an iota of relationship with him. Blessings.
My horse would pretend he hadn’t seen me, let me walk all the way up the field, then with about 10 metres to go suddenly look surprised, whinny and trot over to me. Or maybe he just had really bad eyesight, but only when he was in the field! 😂
With some training he’ll come to you…. Just takes some grain and a little molasses… every horse we had would come when called (occasionally it did take them a minute or two and maybe a false start or two), the only exception was a Shetland pony who knew beyond a shadow of doubt that he was the master of the universe😂
I didn't know you are both fellow Canadians ! 😻❤ , Rudnik seems to be fond of carrots - have you ever tried waving a handful of them in the air from across the pasture at him ? ( I couldn't even touch a bag of whiskas cat treats without having my cat friends by my feet waiting for their treat 😹😸😹)
If you’re in the first trimester and out of breath it’s hormones and can be at other times too but later on there can be other factors that causes that. Baby could be pushing up on your lungs. In my experience (having four kids) it was more hormones than anything else.
A container with some treats to rattle, maybe save you crossing that huge pasture on foot in your condition? I used to rattle some oats, had to fend the horses I didn't want to catch off while I caught my ride. Everyone came running. Best wishes.
Horses don't have feet and toes , they have hooves for god sake , I've seen and heard this on other channels some referring to cattle having feet , what do they teach in the schools these days ? .
On your knees working on a horses hoof is a recipe for disaster! I don’t know you, farrier, but that is very dangerous! Yes, I’ve been a farrier for 30+ yrs
the words make it so hard to try and watch -- incredibly distracting from the actual content ... if people want CC on why not let them turn it on for themselves?
Because they’re never accurate and I need to edit them to have them show what’s actually being said. I’d rather you know what is actually being said than a bunch of poorly assumed captions that aren’t even accurate
Hes gorgeous!! xx

TY for taking good care of him.

You’re such an excellent care taker🥰
You can tell his attention is on the farrier the whole time. Those ears are tell tale sign ❤

Heart beats faster.

Yeah it feels like summer ended overnight. I’m not ready for fall 🥲
In the south it's usually humid, but signs of autumn around. Thanks for the heads up
“Fat for muscle”. That’s a plan for everyone! Lol
I'm worried about him making new friends and missing his old buddies 😢.
There’s lots of other boys at the new place so he should hopefully make some friends pretty fast!
Me, too! ❤

He is a good boy🐴
Weather is the same here in Calgary!
Take care
Seems like most of Canada is getting a bit of cooler temps this week! We’re supposed to warm up to the 30’s again this weekend though!
I heard that as well😉
Rudnik is beautiful and I am learning through you..little afraid of horses.
Thank you ❤️
You really, really supporting life for two. But you are also giving the calcium, minerals and enzymes, etc. From your body to baby body.❤
Love me a Rudnik video ❤❤❤
My first trimester I was exhausted. Then I got my pep back. That sudden burst at the end and the nesting means you’re close to the finish line.
I’m 22 weeks now and finally getting some energy back. The first trimester was brutal! I never wanted to leave my bed🥲

His current boarding spot is closing so I’m just having to move him to a new barn
When you said it was 10 I was surprised & wondered where your parka was until I realized it was Celsius. 40 Fahrenheit. Whew! 😅
Oops yes I should have clarified 😅 thankfully not THAT cold!

As it turns out, you actually CAN take a horse to water…

The rattle a bucket of feed trick not work??😊😊
Unfortunately nope🥲
He's moving? Will he ever see his old friends here again?
It’s hard to say. He might if we meet up for trail rides in the future
Who is Rudnik's perlino ( or cremello ) friend ? I have few myself ;-)
He belonged to another one of the boarders.

Have to be careful about doing that because just like dogs they just become food motivated.
What back-breaking work that is. Yikes!
