Yes. During a thunderstorm one night I walked into the barn to check on my horses. I startled Annie who rushed out of the barn and clipped me in passing. I flew about 10 ft and lay there to catch my breath. She came over to me and started nuzzling me all over. It was so sweet. But then I figured out she smelled a tiny piece of dried up carrot in my pocket and wanted it. .
@@Arete37 I promise she was checking on you first and then maybe noticed the carrot. I was 11yrs old bareback on an ex race horse that decided he wanted to run home as fast as he could down a country road. I ended up sliding off at about 25 mph at least. I continued sliding on my back and then stopped just laying there. The horse came back sniffing me and stayed with me. He wasn't even my horse, just my friend's horse, but he cared.
The guys said to each other, 'lets play along, make it look good, and the horses will come...' that was a wonderful scene. I musunderstood about horses before probably now too..much to learn..
That adorable man is a keeper!!! "Do you wanna see how fast I can run?" LOLOLOL What a great interaction to have on camera too 💙 Love it when an SO takes such genuine interest in the things you love and making a real effort to get to know your horse.
Yes! I don’t care if he doesn’t know it all or have the experience - he’s willing to learn and just be there to support me in what I love and that’s all that matters 🥰
Glad you explained the treats thing, but BF was so gentle, stayed near/touching your horse even while moving around him, projected a calm vibe, wanted so much to play in the field, and looks like he really wants to be part of your world. His hoof picking was better, more confident, than a lot of beginners I've had. Cool video. Many happy trail rides to you all!
Love this!! A few things stand out to me. The first how trusting your fiance is staying on the ground allowing the horse to inspect him. The second this shows how incredibly kind horses actually are. This is beautiful, thank you for sharing this.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a horse that was better at picking up his feet for you to check them than Rudnik. It was funny while being very touching when everyone came to check on your partner.
Truly. We once started a colt foot and lead training the day he was born. The first time the farrier looked at his tiny hooves, the colt whipped one up to be examined. Farrier said, "Somebody's been handling his feet." Proud as a parent.
Years ago. We had two mares ready to foal at the stable I kept my horse at. 20 other horses were loose on 90 acres. We had 7 students with us waiting for the births. The grey horse laid down. And within 20 minutes gave birth to a coal black colt. That I bought 5 months later. But the strange thing was. When the foal gave a whinny. Out side the barn 20 neighed back. We never knew they had even come back to the barn. It was eerily Beautiful.
Love how fiance does the feet thing all wrong but Rudnik picks feet up anyway. Bond between you all is growing, so I'm fascinated to see what happens with Baby. ❤ Love the concern at end from everyone. 😊
A one horse paramedic team, he cares for you both equally. I thought he was very good having his hooves cleaned too ! He knows how loved he is and loves you back. Love and hugs to you all, please give Rudnik a pat from me!💖
I found it interesting that you lay down, the horse checks you out, another comes over from the heard, and then the whole heard comes over to see what going on. That was funny and cute. I do find that horses in many ways are like dogs. Their behavior is fascinating to me. I love they way you take care of your horses.
Wow! What a great video! My horse was my best friend and I think people underestimate their intelligence. One horse was like a guard dog and let you know when someone pulled up, another one would give you kisses on your cheek, and one would watch over me when I was riding her, especially when I was little like 7-8 y/o. Beautiful creatures!
What a lovely sight. Made me cry. ❤ During the summer I used to save up my allowance to go horseback riding with my cousin every other week. They always gave me a horse called Bonanza. I think I was 14 or 15. I was a little scared to ride at first but then I got used to her/him. I really loved riding but stopped when I graduated high school and had to work. Forty years later, I became friends with someone who rented out her barn to someone who had horses. She took me in so I could see the horses. They were huge and so beautiful. I don't know why, maybe their size, I was scared of them. Thinking about it now, maybe they were trying to get to me to say hi. They seemed like they were trying to get out of their pen and pushing against the rails. And they were so tall. I've always loved horses. I probably should try again to go find some horses. My friend had to give up renting the barn. She had a couple of cows who were huge, too. They were beautiful. I collect photographs of cow's faces with the intention to paint them some day. There's something about a cow's face that I love.
I love that you’ve been able to make connections with people that have allowed you to continue being around horses, if even just a little. They can be so amazing for our mental health! Such a large animal that will happily enjoy your presence without asking anything from you (except maybe treats). Horses have gotten me through some of the darkest days of my life. I also agree about cows! I love their big faces and big doe eyes - if we ever get our own spot I think I’m going to need to get a pet cow (who can also be a buddy for Rudnik!) 😂
His excitement with running with the horse and the connection between had with all of the horses when they came around speaks volumes!!!! The horses know what a great person he is! You both are so lucky!!!

So good to see Rudnik cares for your partner! He obviously checks the head first... not looking for treats but caring for the person. I guess it was even him calling the heard to come and see (or even protect) him. No matter if your fiancé is a beginner... your horses like him and that's lovely to see. Lot of green flags I'd say (as a horse lover and former horse owner).
That's so cool watching him be gentle with doing his hoofs. I think you have found a keeper. Your horses had to check and make sure he's alright.I love horses.
That was so awesome! They all showed up to check on him! Omg.....I wasn't expecting that! Sweet experience! Years ago when my husband and I, our daughter and her boyfriend camped out all night on the beach we dug small trenches just big enough for our bodies to lay down in to sleep in the sand. We had a fire going in the center. The wind was coming in that night and we were chilly. It kept us out of the cold and we slept in our sleeping bags we put in these individual trenches. We were on Assateague Island that is a 37 mile barrier island that is also a national reserve that has wild ponies. Look it up. It's beautiful. We woke up the next morning with ponies encircled around our camp fire. I had a pony looking down at me snorting with his nose just feet from me as he tried to figure out who I was and what I was doing! Love you video!
Oh my gosh I love horses and this was a cute video. I’d probably be such a nervous person to be in charge of the care of one on my own for how detailed their care is, especially with hoof maintenance, I have seen some vet videos on that and it is stunning how bad care can harm hoofed animals. Super cute that the whole herd came over to double check the guy with the treats handed those over before he kicked the bucket. lol. 😂
You have the most beautiful color in your Rudnick! He’s gorgeous! BF is cute, too - it’s great that he’s learning the ways to move around horses. :) Thanks for the share :)
This was a fun video! If people criticized it, then you know they just like that negative shit. As far as I’m concerned, your horse is a magnificent specimen. A beauty! And the way he picked up his legs even for someone new, WOW. That final part of him going to check your fiancé out, priceless. Thank you so much for this video.
My great grandfather fell in the field one day. His wife knew something was up because all of the horses were circled around him. They would walk as slow as he needed to walk and never left his side. She took a picture of them circled up. Called her grandson who lived on the property and he came and helped his grandfather. Years later when we scattered his ashes on the hill on his land, all of the horses got quiet and circled around again below us.
Rudnik is absolutely gorgeous! This is the first video of yours I've watched, and I have to say for someone who's never been around horses, your fiance has an incredible bond with your herd, especially Rudnik. As for picking hooves, he's doing great (much better than a guy I watched -- and tried to teach. He went to pick up a foot -- the horse had not been handled much -- and she tossed him into a brick wall).
I love how “green” he was cleaning the hoofs, and yet Rudnik patiently lifted up his feet so politely. What a great horse. If you know your horse, you know you can trust him with a newbie.
That is really cool the whole herd came over with concern, and to the negative people ya'll should ASK QUESTIONS before making yourself look like a fool online. 😆 We all look a little silly when learning something new, so don't play it off as if this is a red flag. Lol. This was wholesome and super sweet!
I dont understand why anyone would say anything negative! He did great! Im new to horses and its not instinctual for everyone. People just need to get over themselves.
It's cute watching your "green" non-horsey man get more and more comfortable around them. Even having a whole herd come check him out didn't scare him! But I must say, I have never seen anyone stand facing front to pick up a front hoof! And he is so gentle with the back ones, he'll break his back rather than lift and move the leg into a comfy position for himself! I hope you have told him that not all horses are like Rudnik, so he doesn't get hurt one day thinking he knows what he's doing now. LOL
Oh I have warned him of that many times 😂 I’ve told him that Rudnik is definitely special and extra patient with him through his learning and sometimes I think Rudnik has given him a false representation of horses with how docile and willing he is 😂🤣 but he’s seen enough of how other horses act that he understands - he’s also been around since Rudnik was untouchable so he knows just how far he’s really come! 🥰

Wow that’s incredible! They knew it was him 🥹
Rudnik is absolutely gorgeous!
Beautiful horse. Cute how the horses came running to check on him.💙
Oh my gooooodness that was so sweet!
All of Rudnik's friends came to see what was going on 😊
I love how “green” he was cleaning the hoofs, and yet Rudnik patiently lifted up his feet so politely. What a great horse. If you know your horse, you know you can trust him with a newbie.
100%! Doesn’t matter if you’re doing it ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ a good horse won’t care either way!
That is really cool the whole herd came over with concern, and to the negative people ya'll should ASK QUESTIONS before making yourself look like a fool online. 😆
We all look a little silly when learning something new, so don't play it off as if this is a red flag. Lol.
This was wholesome and super sweet!
That was cool...
I always say...
8 of my 10 best friends...
Was Horses...
Sometimes they are Ornery...
But they don't Lie, Cheat, or Steal..
Super cool ❤ your fella was tickled when the horse lifted his foot for him, I could tell! He's nervous about messing up but is doing very well!
Wow! I am so glad YT showed me to your channel! So picturesque! Beautiful horses! Fun! Loving hearts! Bam! I got the jackpot! 🏆🫶🙌💝
Thank you 🥰
