  • An ascent of Ben Vorlich & Stúc a'Chroin from Ardvorlich at Loch Earn
    What a day!
The day started off a little rushed as the weather only improved last minute for me to make the trip. The initial ascent up Ben Vorlich was a really good walk. Steep with good terrain under foot. Got the heart rate up that's for sure. Headed West after this onto Stúc a'Chroin. To be honest, I was expecting the scramble up Stúc a'Chroin to be worse but it wasn't't bad at all.
I was feeling good having summited two Munros, albeit with poor visibility at the tops.
On the route down it was getting more difficult as time went on. It was a long slog back to the main path on the Ben Vorlich side. Very, very boggy and difficult as the path was always sloping away from you.
I felt reasonably good at the end, maybe more relief than anything else. The last section required a lot of concentration and stamina, both of which I was short on at that stage.
Overall, as always a great day and two very different Munros. Ben Vorlich with it's gentleness and almost graceful rise and Stúc a'Chroin with it's sharp edges and "you're not finished yet" attitude!

Had to watch this again Stevie as I'm doing them on Easter Monday. Vorlich looks pretty straightforward but Stuc looks a bit more of a challenge. Everyone I've spoken to and watching this has confirmed the descent route looks tough going. Thanks again for the content and hopefully we can hike again soon. Cheers

Totally mate. Ben Vorlich was a lovely hike and even the ascent of Stuc was enjoyable. It’s that return leg that’s the hard work. I would consider returning by way of the initial walk in, but then you’d lose the experience. Glad you enjoy the vids. ATB. 🙂
