Beinn an Dothaidh 1004m (3,294ft) This is a well known walk, starting from the Bridge of Orchy train station just off the A82. The walk starts off by walking under the West Highland Railway and you're then greeted with a gate brandishing the West Highland Way Thistle symbol. Been looking at this one and Beinn Fhionnlaidh. Think the second option will be best at this time of year, that one looks amazing but I reckon it wouldn't be as appreciated in poor vis. Definitely one for next year's to do list. Thanks again. Hope you had a nice Christmas and all the best for 25
@@marcomclean3605 thanks for the great comment. Sgulaird is a great mountain however it’s a long hike and daylight hours are limited this time of year. Fhionnlaidh is another great hike and one I’d like to repeat so give me a shout whenever you think of taking it on! Thanks again for the support and all the best for 2025. 😊
Hopefully this Sunday we're looking at Fhionnlaidh?
Ahh it’s good to see you back uploading Stevie! Enjoyed the video, looked like a cold/icy one that’s for sure! 🥶. Similar to the weather I got up Cruach Ardrain recently.
Thanks for the great comment @The ScottishScrambler. Hopefully these vlogs will become a little more regular. Cruach Ardrain, still a favourite mountain of mine. :) Thanks for watching. ATB
Didn’t expect to see you pop up when I opened TH-cam this morning. Good to see you back out. Some cracking views over to Ben Alder.
@@Moffatmountainadventures thanks Robert. Yeah, they views to Ben Alder and Loch Ericht made that trip. Glad we got them. Thanks for watching. ATB 😊
@ didn’t realise it had been 9 months though, surely that’s no right?
@@Moffatmountainadventures I thought it was March was the last time I was out but it was April way up in Assynt. So 7 months or so. Still too long!
@ aye definitely. Least you’ve been pumping in the mileage though for that challenge. Not long to go now.
We were up there last weekend and had to turn back due to bad weather. Well done.
@@glenblaven I can imagine how difficult things become in poorer weather 🌦️ up there. There’s definitely an element of danger when the clouds, wind and rain/snow roll in. Thanks for watching ATB. 😊
That was a nice surprise seeing this pop up tonight. Been ages since I last seen a video from you. Hopefully see more in the new year. Yeah Geal Charn and A Mharconich were my first pair this year in very similar conditions, first one in bluebird condition and then pea soup on the second. Finished all the Drumochter 7 in October. Cheers for sending this out appreciated 👍
@@marcomclean3605 thanks for the great comment Marcus. Yeah was definitely a needed hike! 🥾 I remember your posts about the Drumochter hills. That’s why I had this on my radar. I decent hill to get back into the swing of things. Thanks for your continued support. ATB. 😊

Just watched brilliant time and great footage , what month did you do it , ? Absolutely up for it next year
Hi @@neilebdon1950 This is a great challenge and one I would thoroughly recommend people take on. What an experience. We did this at the end of May. I will say, the weather certainly helped us out that day. Thanks for watching. 😊
Hi Dear, Your video content is really good. but views and subscribers are much lower. To increase subscribers and views, you need to do channel SEO meaning your videos are not fully SEO. SEO is not friendly to your title. The SEO score is very low. The main reason why videos go viral is because of video SEO and organic promotion. If you do SEO and promotion then lots of views and subscribers will come to your channel and you will be able to monetize your channel in a few days. I can help you. If you went.
I know those hills very well. My younger brother and I walked up the Grey Mares Tail to White Coomb, Saddle, Yoke and Hartfeill. Hartfell has a small cave called the 'Covenanters Cave' where people used to worship in secrete in the days of King Charles II. You got some cracking weather for your hike.
@@alisdairmclean8605 that’s a great bit of info! I absolutely loved the area and will hopefully be returning soon! The weather was bang on for me also. Such a great trip. Thanks for watching. 😊

Nice
Hi Stevie, thank you for the insightful video. Im planning to do the CMD Arête route but the weather man says there will be 55km/h gusts of wind so I am slightly anxious about doing it. If the wind doesnt calm down by the time I am supposed to hike I will probably do the touristy trail to the summit of Ben Nevis. Could you please share your experience with wind from all your hikes at Ben Nevis? Thanks.
Hi @vikone1. Thanks for the great comment. Ultimately the decision to tackle the CMD rests with you but... there's a couple of things to consider. Is the wind speed you're talking about definitely km/h and not mp/h? There's a big difference and this can sometimes catch people out. Is it gusting a max of 55km/h? What is the sustained wind speed? Personally, as long as the other conditions were ok; no rain, clear and good visibility, the wind speed you're talking about wouldn't put me off. What are the chances of the weather getting worse? So many things to consider but as I said, ultimately the decision rests with you and that also is true when you're on the mountain. Don't be afraid of turning back! Stay safe and take care, and don't forget to enjoy the hike! It's one of my faves!🙂
Wow I love this video mate, nice music choice 😍🙌 congratulations in making it under 24hrs! 🎉
Thanks so much mate. This was probably my favourite challenge of the 6 i did that year. I had such a good time doing it and felt in a great place. Thanks for watching ATB. ☺

@@colin1493 think a part of my soul is still in the little ruins on Beinn Eighe where I discovered that little gem. 😂
I am planning to climb Ben Nevis with the same trail you had. Absolutely helpful to me. How many hours normally does it takes via CMD Arete?
@@cjmercado6442 thanks for the comment. It took me around 7.5hrs. I had a fair bit of filming to do so potentially a little quicker. Depends on yourself. I would certainly budget at least 8 for any unforeseen eventualities. I also had a very clear day which made navigating a breeze, would be very different in the clouds. Let us know how you get on. Thanks for watching. ATB.

Was looking for a vid with nice footage of the scenery, 2 minutes in im also partying. 🎉🕺one of the best videos of the ones of Ben Bevis ive watched so far. This deserves 10 to a 100 times more views. Ive been to Fort Williams a couple of years ago when i visited scotland, didnt try to get on the top as there wasnt any time for it. Recently im itching with Fernweh (the pain you feel when you wish to be somewhere else) and been grinding videos about hiking to the top of Ben Nevis.
What a great comment! This hike is truly a great experience and I would always recommend saving it for the perfect conditions, because it deserves it! I hope when you get to go that everything fits for you! All the very best of luck on your future travels! Thanks for watching 😊
Has a wee chuckle and you two crossing those rivers .. great footage Stevie
Thanks Anne-Marie. Was a great hike. And the river crossing...eventful! lol
Great video. How long is the ridge in terms of distance? Cheers
Hi Terry. The ridge, from the summit of CMD to the cairn at the start up Ben Nevis is around 1.5km. As ridges go, it’s a decent length! Thanks for the great question, and for watching. ATB. 😊
Amazing video and achievement. Me and three friends are doing this as part of a challenge in June this year. We have called it The Munro Marathon, 26 Munros over three ranges on three consecutive days. Your video was part of the inspiration for me setting this challenge. 10 munros day 1 in the Mamors, 7 day 2 Lawers range, 9 day 3 Glenshee. Wish us luck. PS your round up after the fact caused us all to shit ourselves, spending 2 days there checking it out caused us to shit ourselves even more!!!!!😂
Hi Keith! Unbeknown to the TH-cam community but i did this round again last year! It's all in the preparation mate. Been watching this one back Stevie as I’m wanting it done over the summer. Just can’t decide if I do it in one day or as a camp
Hi Robert. I would say camp if you really want to enjoy it. It's definitely doable in one day whilst enjoying it but a big ask nevertheless. More than happy to discuss the technical side of it, if you need. ;)
@@mountainspeak390 aye I will pick your brains once I’ve got a date in mind. Kind of thought a lot of the technical stuff is the outliers so if I leave my bag in spots it should make it easier. Water seems like the issue but that’s just a challenge to overcome

How hard is it? Coming from someone that just recently done the Cobbler
Hi, it’s hard to say. The Cobbler is a longer hike but a far gentler slope. The angle of attack on this one is a lot more severe. Suppose you would just take more breaks as needed. There’s nothing overly technical on this hike but nav could be difficult in bad weather. Happy hiking! 🥾
