  • An ascent of Ben Vorlich from Inveruglas at Loch Lomond, summit height at 943m (3093ft) NOT 948m as stated in the video. What can I say, my eyes weren't what they used to be!
An extremely wet day managed to get wetter!
This is the standard route of ascent to Ben Vorlich summit. Using the power station access road to the West face of Ben Vorlich and ascending via a path to the summit ridge. A short walk along the very broad ridge and the summit can be reached.
This is a steep ascent from the side of the mountain and required a lot of stops for me!
The path and route are good and fairly obvious in standard conditions. There are some boggy sections part of the way up but these weren't too bad and most of them could be bypassed by walking on the grass.
The descent after lunch was of a fast nature. I think I was just eager to get out of the very wet clouds. This didn't take too long and wasn't as bad on the old knees as I originally thought.
I would be keen to try this hill in winter, however, there is a couple of deep crevasses around the 2,500ft mark. This would put me off as this could easily be a danger to inexperienced winter walkers. (Me)
Overall, a solid day, albeit extremely wet. Another Munro checked off the list and a little more experience gained in wet weather walking.

    Great video.
I have done Munros in all weathers and although it is always great to get the sun and the views you can still get something out of a claggy weather walk.
I have noticed that often when you reminisce in the pub about walks that you have done they usually follow the line of 'do you remenber when we climbed xxx and we got caught out in that whiteout with horizontal rain/hail' or ' do you remember how hairy it was on xxx with all the snow and the scary ridge walk'
You can get something out of every walk you do if you just embrace it.

I totally agree! There is something in every walk and experience gained can be invaluable. Thanks for the cracking comment. :)

Thanks so much for the comment William. It was a good educational walk for me! As you say, bit of a leg burner! Thanks for watching. ATB.

Congratulations and nice video ...did Ben Vorlich presumably a couple of days earlier and had more luck with the scottish weather.

Thanks Stripey Hat Guy. I really enjoyed the different perspective the weather gave it.

Hi new sub. I’m heading up Ben Vorlich via Ben vane on a night hike when Nicola lifts our grounding. I noticed you stopped at the trig point but I’ve noticed on the os map 200m north there’s the true summit 2m higher. Did you miss it? Looking forward to watching through the other videos

Hi @Summit tae dae. Yeah, when reviewing my walk it looks like there is a section further on that I missed. Due to the terrible conditions at the time I didn’t notice it. Live and learn eh 🤷. A night hike over Vane and Vorlich sounds excellent! Have a great hike when it comes!! 👍🏻 Thanks for watching. 😊

@@mountainspeak390 I did cmd in heavy fog and false summited. Had to do it again 🤦🏻‍♂️. Me of my friends got turned in the fog on Ben Vorlich so this hikes at night so I can teach him how to use a compass in low visibility. Looks a beast of a day doing both for ascent. Happy hiking 🥾

@@summittaedae2323 Something i need to work on is my navigation in poor visibility! Good luck with the night hike! I imagine it’s going to be a very rewarding hike. Thanks again for the comments and hopefully we all get to enjoy the mountains again soon! 🏔 🥾

@@mountainspeak390 practice night hikes. Great for low vis hikes but a night hike I am rewarding if you time your summit for sunrise. You may even get a good inversion. I recommend corporals corner and Craig Taylor of bushcraft padawan channel for map skills. A good head torch a compass with a glowing bezel ring and pacing beads. I practiced on the Pentland hills in Edinburgh before mountains. My first night hike Munro was Ben Lomond. Surprising how many head torches you’ll see on a mountain at 4am 😂

@@summittaedae2323 Thanks for the advice and recommendations. Will definitely be looking to expand my skills as the spring and summer rolls in. 👍🏻
