- The 777's autopilot can be very useful and is not that hard to use. If you know which part of it does what, that is. So this is a tutorial that covers all the autopilot's features you'll need for casual flying.

This was a fantastic video, quick and simple
Amazing explanation,,wonderful narration. Thanks very much.
Thank you so much! I just got FlightGear, and I'm trying to figure out the autopilot!
Wow a 9 year old vid, but still works for microsoft flight sim! Thanks a lot man.
Oh and, I see you've been flying around VHHH! Just to tell you that there's new scenery for it for the terminal 1, and the expo thingy near :)
Cool, I never knew, how to activate the auto-throttle! Thanks, Oscar! ;)
Nice tutorial mate!i i just have a doubt:
How to enable gps and how do u know that the airctaft is going in the correct flight path to the destination??
Nice tutorial mate but the most of us already know how to use the B777 and other aircraft autopilot , I would suggest you to do a IFR Flight Plan Tutorial in FG or a VFR one :D
I have come across that problem once before. I think you actually have to program AND activate the route BEFORE you click either of the two buttons. Otherwise it won't actually enable LNAV or VNAV... Hope that helps, but it shouldn't be this way.
I use the mpmap (youtube will not let me post a link) to find QNH when it is not available in FG. Navigate to the airport you want just like you do whn looking for waypoints, then select METAR in the dropdown menu that appears on the map. It will give you a QNH that is usually very close to conditions within FG.
Yea. Tutorials are back!!!
Thank you!! I downloaded Flightgear this last weekend. Love the 777. But was lost regarding the auto-pilot.
Very good man, Dont find good tutorials like this. Thanks alot !
That is a very clever way! Thanks!
I'll put up an annotation in the autoland video as well, where I mentioned the 'old-fashioned way' of getting the QNH in FlightGear.
That is right... I too have been having some trouble finding the QNH in 2.10. Usually I use the ATIS, but not every airport has that. I'll try to look up how to actually find it!
How do I switch to gps for navigation
the boeing 777 doesn't have a gps switch. it either has hdg select or lnav mode
Even i have the same doubt? I am using fsx.
@@aamirlodi1701 u dont need it bcoz if u enable LNAV, the aircraft will follow the GPS route and if u enable LOC the the aircraft will align with the localiser just like how u change from GPS to NAV and select NAV mode to align with the localiser
Pls osjcag, can you make a CRJ 700's autopilot tutorial? thanks
To be more specific, click NAV in the menu at the bottom of mpmap, enter the airport in the search bar and click search.(Magnifying glass icon) Go to airport listed and click on the name box for the airport. (In red letters) Select METAR et voila!
Thanks osjcag. I was wondering why alt-hold wasn't following my set altitude. I didn't realize I needed to set flt change instead.
Hey. How about the FD flight director switch? When you turned it on, 2 pink lines will show up in PFD, telling you where the AP wants to fly to. But remember to turn it off if you want to do visual landing, or the plane will suddenly executing go around on last 100 ft. But ILS landing will be fine.
Great video. Thank you.
It did help me a bit, and it was a great video. However i still don't understand how to set my autopilot to specific places so for example from KSFO TO EDDF?
OMG! I love you. It's been confusing the hell out of me till now :)
THX m8 you were my last hope ps i only watch your Tutorials for fg
TrueNorthist just commented:

That is a great alternative.

best one ever out there
Can you make a video for the A330 autopilot? i really like you vids and am having a bit of trouble flying my favorite jetliner in flightgear
fantastic video. thks.
Great! Glad this solved a quite unpleasant problem for your passengers ;)
super helpful man. Thanks
Ah I see. Well "banking" is actually just rolling your plane sideways to make turns. The "banking angle" is the amount of roll. For example, 30 degrees of bank is a lot and will make you turn fast, while 5 degrees is really not that much and will only change your heading slightly.
I would not really know what to say in an entire video dedicated to this, so I hope this helps :)
Hello osjcag, can you make a video of how to configure the FMC computer manually without using the on screen menu? Like if you want to enter routes and other stuffs.
Thanks
Could you make a vid about starting up airplanes
Great tutorial I still have 1 question do you have to activate the fly by wire system manually or does the fly by wire system engage on its on due to the auto pilot I’m a bit confused
dont need to make it manualy its does itself atleast i ahave so
FINALLY A VIDEO WOO
Hey dutchman, have you seen the Bagram airfield crash of the american 747 ?
didn't they get new graphics every 10 episode? anyways, still amazing :) thx for making this HowTo
Great to hear that, thanks! Glad to able to help :)
I notice anything about the Boeing Honeywell Uninterruptable Autopilot has been removed from yt. They want to keep it secret.
thanks for posting this video- question. I just learning how to use auto pilot either following planned course or by steering with heading bug. But how can I go back to steering manually? can I still use auto pilot to keep study speed and altitude but manually steer plane?
It helped. thanks.
Awesome, works like a charm. Thanks again :)
that's great for you :) thanks for replying!
Great to hear that!
Hey - great vids. Helped me out a lot! I have a problem with the AP. I set up a route in Route Manager, and set the cruise speed at 320 kts, but the AP keeps resetting it to 240, and then back to 320. Any idea what might be wrong?
Anders Madsen im haveing the exact same problem
i have the same but mine when i set the speed like 350 kts and i open the Map ou Hide Bar menu, my speed reset for 200kts
Awesome video. Very helpful.
no/ maybe you can check it at he's channel. there is a lot of tutoria. (:
I Have A Qestion..! While Manull Landing Of 777 When I Just Touch Down The Aircraft Turns Right Or Left Quickly And Skids Out Of The Runway..!
thank you
yey a new vid pls upload a engine failure in 747 4 engine failure no engines
my LNAV and VNAV are not working in my autopilot on the Boeing 777. Before i set the route manager it actually works tell me to set it first, suggesting it is working. Although after i set it it doesn't do anything even when i click it. PLEASE HELP!
Can you make one for the 737?
Well that's kinda how it was indeed... Currently I'm experimenting a bit with things like the 'skip if you already know this' fly-ins, hoping to find more of a single standard I can use for the HowTos. I will make a new intro eventually though :)
Guys if you really want to learn how to use 777 FMC, autopilot, etc then buy x-plane 10 and use b777 by ramzess and phillip. FMC in Flight Gear will never be fully simulated because the navigational data is payware and developers can't make it freeware
Can you make a HowTo on hold? So when i play with ATC they sometimes say that i need to hold on certain VOR or FIX.
Thanks so much
I used the Boeing 777-300ER but the LNAV doesnt engage, it keeps saying "Captain LNAV won't engage, we forgot to program or activate route manager!", did I do something wrong? I already added the RM
THANK YOU
Where is the nav/gps switch?
It says: Autopilot disengage?
i use boeing 773ER autopilot at my flight. but, after i take off and will going to 24.000 feet, my autopilot always disconnect. i tried to set up it again, but the autopilot always disconnect it. can you help me ?
Thank you :D
@Shaun, it's 99% the same as the 777 :)
What does the heading / track button do? Is it the same as heading / gps switch in 747 eg which I’m used to for navigation?
Thanks
I thought you're dead. I'm so relived :D
hey oscar how to use auto pilot in a 747-400
Check out day 12 of my "12 days of Flight Tips" season 2 series, that one is about route planning. If you plan a route that way, and use the LNAV on the 777 Autopilot, it should fly that route!
thanks a heap
you're great man
I Can¡t engage the autopilot on the screen appears a message with autopilot disc
Thank you very much...
Hey, Can you help me please...I' living Bangladesh, so, i do not purchase PFPX for create PMDG 777 route. Can you create a some route....for me.
+sayed hasan This is flightgear, not FSX or P3D
I Have a MAc and flightgear autopilot is not working like that!!
Same here
If I ever invent a time machine, you'll be one of the first people I'll tell!
How do I select the vertical speed with my keyboard?
Uh somehow when i press lnav and vnav it does not turn on do you know how to fix this
I'll play around with that a bit. Sounds a bit like a "real time recording" subject.
I did this and nosedived straight into the ground in msfs
Pls make a tanker howto
Cool to hear that :)
How to zoom in or out please i dont know I am beginner
Press plus or minus.
OK THNKS
AND HOW TO UP YOUR NOSE
IN THE AIRPLANE
ronematthew sayon well, I really recommend using a joystick because it makes control much easier, but you can use the down arrow for up, and up for down.
Well, I guess I'm a little late now then, but happy birthday!!
Well, I just cannot engage for some reason, anyone help?
what to do ?
The A320/A330 autopilot will be HowTo #33, which will be done in a few weeks :)
Hello, i want to ask you for an Airbus A380 basic tutorial, because i don't know how to take off. I have Flightgear 2.6 because the later versions don't work on my computer. You already made a tutorial about the "Concorde in 2 minutes" in your 12. episode, so i thought you could make an "Airbus A380 in 2 minutes". Thank you :)
How Much Alt Should I Set Too I Fly The A320 And I Fly At 12000 Feet Is That Ok Or Should I Go Higher Cause In Real Life Its Like 30000 Ft So Yeah??
IRL is 40000 feet. So if flying internationally, fly at that cruising alt.
Do you mean the banking angle settings on the 777 autopilot?
w....w...what... uploaded on my birthday.. thats wierd.... lol
😊
Yay!
how do you download the game it sooo hard to download can you help me and nice video
You can buy it in Mall's or Electric Centers
Could you try the f-16 for me
Zeker! But more uploads soon :)
That nasty shit keeps saying: Captain, autopilot disengaged... Sorry but fg sucks im gonna save for xplane.
Download Game????? Its not a game its Microsoft Flight Sim X u can purchase the DVD
It is a game and its Flight Gear not FSX. its open source so its free
When I play FlightGear I get like frraking 1/2 a fps like I can't do shit. Help. My PC is strong enough to play APB Reloaded at 15 fps 😥 this was the closes I can get to being a real pilot (12 yr old)
Just saying 15 FPS is not really good...and maybe try getting and installing more ram. Maybe about 4 GB's ....same age lol
Yo you play X Pane of FSX o even FlightGear. I'm saving 550 to get a beast PC and I'll add u in like febuary 2015 😁xD
