They sure haven't dropped in price that's for sure. I paid 379 at Home Depot for one today, $400 out the door. Seems like 3 yrs after your video you could get them cheaper. Oh yeah price inflation. Lol Cool video, subscribed, I'll definitely have to do a muffler mod on this thing.
@@mweba1 I agree. My current big saw is a MS290. I'm 67 years old and started a Solo Tree Biz in March. My biggest tree trunk was 36" so far. I'm gonna replace the ms290 with the 4910 with a 20" and add a 620P with 27 or 28" for my new biggest saw. I'm looking for to the decompression release on both saws.
On the Echo cs-4910, if you remove the inner guide plate is there any small part that’s behind it? I took mine apart to clean it and now the oil runs out like crazy. I’m wondering if there was a part behind that guide plate in the area where the oil comes out that I lost so never got put back.
I purchased this exact saw last week. Brand new it fired on the 4th pull. Now, wont fire at all after the first tank of fuel. Just floods. Using trufuel 50:1. Have you heard of any issues or did I just get lucky enough to buy a defective one?
I just bought one and learned that if you do not pull the throttle trigger the choke will remain on...even after pushing the choke in...you may already know this...
You seem to have a lot of experience with these saws. I have a 501p that I've run for the past year. Its filter seems to get excessively dirty. Usually by the 3rd tank I'm loosing power and have to swap filters. I cut a lot of dead dry and dusty oak which i know contributes to the issue. I also run an old cs400 a lot as well through the same wood but I've never have an issue with the filtration system clean it once every week or so and its good to go. Is this a problem you've encountered by any chance? If you have any suggestions on how possible fixes I'd be very grateful. Love my 501p but getting a bit tired of having to clean out a caked filter every time i use it.
Ditto. I wish they would have kept the old round pleated filter like on the 400 and 370. If you look at a Shindy 488 it’s the same kind of filter. Basically after the merger with Shindy these style of filter came on the 500,490 and the 590 saws. They have reverted back on the 7310 to the pleated filter. I’m hoping for a new version of 50 and 60cc saws based on the 7310. I use a foam pre filter from the chainsaw guy on mine. It saves my filter from almost all of the dirt.
Same here. I use a foam prefilter on mine for ease of cleaning. The chainsawguy is where I got the prefilters. He retired but I think you can get them from the Myrtle Creek Saw Shop where he worked.
And, I know you probably don't get paid enough from youtube, and this is only a little 50 cc saw, but you should do (please) a porting video, and carb mods too - for the regular guy, like you did on the big echo with the epoxy in the transfers. You don't epoxy these non-cap transfers do you? These little 50cc saws, though a little slow, will definitely put wood on your truck, and don't break your back (though you might need to lean due to the short bar). But, go for the smaller wood aye?
If I can find time, it will happen. Time is something I have trouble finding these days... If I do it, it will be a full woods port with chamber mods. Not something most people can do.
Hey brother Ive watched you for some time. I got a 4910 didnt need it but 490 no comp release. I havent even fueled up. Will put VP 50:1 I get good price on it.PS are those capture nut clips worth $14.00 or so??
how are the transfers are they the same as 501p? or do they do the husq trick of detuning with smaller transfers? looks like it would be harder, as there are no caps and they would need a completely different cyl. I love how light they are, even with the plastic bars. And, longer break in is true. 10 tanks maybe? I know you can just look and tell, because you have done a million of them, but if you are just moding the muf, open up the hole just a little more, and a lot more on the deflector, and they run great.
Exact same crank case, crank shaft, carb, piston and cylinder. It's a 501P with a plastic handle, plastic rear handle grip and possibly a different coil.
I have a question the echo 620 and the Shindaiwa 600sx are they one and the same, I like the reviews on the 620, however I am partial to red and black, miss my Jonsereds I guess, my question(s) are would a full wrap from a 620 readily mount to a 600sx, also does a good woodsport and muffler mod really.wake these saws up, lastly you don't see alot of attention or love given to the Shindys is their a reason, and your thoughts? By the way Ann is my significant other, my names Rick. Excellent videos by the way!
Personally haven't tried to swap them but it is the same platform so I see no reason parts would not interchange. Shinny saws are not common in my area...

My local dealer sells them for 325 plus tax all day. I don't run them but we picked up a couple for customers. Very tame stk but ran good after porting and machine work.
I bought the echoes 400-18" they are all defected ,I tried 3 differnt once and each one leaks chain oil new out the box when you worm it up for 5 minutes, just idling Leaves a lot of oil on the floor with out useing or spinning the chainsaw...do you know anything about that? I returned them all.....I'm willing to try this one since it's about the same weight of the 400 cs....does that one gush oil out when idling ?
The cs400 has a worm gear pressed onto the crankshaft. When it's running, it's oiling. The saws were not defective, they were let to idle to long. Cs4910 has a clutch drum driven oiler. This saw only oils when cutting.

Muffler modded, it's still just a hair behind the 550xp but for under 350 out the door, there is no better saw.

Great video. Would really appreciate a video of how you ported this saw. Love my Shindaiwa 491, but I’d like to see it run like this!
