    Best value in the 50cc market IMO. As for the gains between stock and MM, you're absolutely correct one saw to the next can be very different. I've run into bone stock saws that are freaks and not one modded saw turns out exactly like another. I think the differences in our test lie more in the size of mm. The tube and restriction was completely removed in my video where as you replaced the tube with a close to stock size. These saws will gain all the way up to 100% exhaust opening with the only ill symptom being idle tune. Anyway, just my two cents. Carry on! I enjoy watching.

      DUDE! You're my guy man! I love your vids so much. I'm glowing that you commented on my channel. I actually reference you quite a bit and you have tought me a lot. This is a cool moment for me. I've actually gotten pretty decent at porting at this point. The 7310 is sooooo easy to get incredible gains from, but the 590...not so much. I've done one and have another lined up to get ported. That small bore and long stroke seem to cause some problems that most have issues with.

    I just bought one today from the Home Depot. Haven't ran it much just put bar/chain oil in it and full tank of gas and fired it up. Fired up real fast. I'll definitely have to do something with the muffler on it too to make it breathe easier. Subscribed to the channel. 👍 Btw liked the vid too since you reminded me at the end. Lol

    Lost Mtn Ourdoor Power Equipment was where I lived for years. Great dealer. Anthony, the owner/guy at the beginning of your video, is great to deal with. Andrew is awesome as well. I moved out of Georgia in December of 2017. I live in Florida now. Everytime I make the trip to Dallas Ga to see my family, I make it a point to swing by and see Anthony and Andrew. Been dealing with them since 2006 before they moved into that building.

    You said on one of your videos something was broken on your welder. It sounds like it has a liner/drive wheel slip issue. Aka replace the liner With the liner guide set screw piece removed. Cut liner about 3/8 - 1/2" long. Then twist welding lead one way it gets longer one shorter. Get it short enough then install liner piece and let the liner relax give it a few flips/wiggles then set set screw. Then check your roll tension. Sometimes you need to replace or clean the brass wire guide as well.

    Got the new 590 to cut (huge 5 in one)tree in back yard down. Did the same muffler mod you did to your 590. It took between 15 to 20 gas tanks then it just changed on while cutting, went real fat all of a sudden adjusted carb and i felt a major power difference. Same with echo 2511t but it didn't take as long as 590.

    i have an older 490 with the MM that has been run hard, and i have a brand new 490 with the MM and the older saw certainly had more power. i figure it will be a few tanks of gas before it catches up. these are strong little saws they are just terribly stopped up from the factory.

    The only 2 complaints I have about the 501p/4910/490 saws are the air filter and lack of bar selection. I would definitely put some grease around the air filter base or you will get fines. I put a foam prefilter on mine for ease of cleaning because the air filter gets dirty quickly. I guess the air injection ( g force) precleaner doesn’t work very well.

    I would be interested to see the performance between a stock echo 590 and a holtzfforma G366 the MS360 clone. They are both 59cc saws, I picked up the G366 for $200 and the 590 is $400 or so. Compared to the stihl MS362 at $850 either is a deal when you compare performance to price. Both need to be run by soft hand Steve though.

    If you want a metal handle instead of a plastic one
    It's VERY VERY easy to modify a Husqvarna 372 half wrap (or full wrap)
    Literally takes 10 mins
    Side note. God damn it's crazy how much faster my 4910 is than a stock one (I have a Charles brisco ported 4910)
    And my 4910 is FASTER than my Husqvarna 372xp UNTIL you get into 20" plus wood. Until then that 50cc echo walks away from that 372

    I feel mweba1 running his saw in the snow, and clearly colder weather, had him tuning limited with the limiters in place when he ran it pre-modded. You ran it at temps the limiters were more pre-set for. Your saw stock ran better than his did. Your saw muffler modded ran right with his, if not damn close to it. Really, it would compare favorably when muffler modded to every one of your 50cc wackoff saws except the 2153 which we know they were all pretty much factory freaks. I think muffler modded the 4910 will run pretty close to the 346xp, 550xp, and Stihl 261 when stock. It likely wouldn't beat any of them, but for maybe 30-40 minutes of 'wrench time' at a $300+ discount, that's damn impressive. Really, even stock it wasn't a turd by any means and would have fell probably mid-pack in your wack-off.

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Have you ever used a Husqvarna 353? Right now, in its current condition, I would say the Echo 4910 feels just like my Redmax G5300 (which is exactly a 353 Husqvarna just different colors).
      If I was blindfolded, it would be very difficult to tell the two apart, but the Echo does weigh less. Power wise, it feels right there. Now when it breaks in, I'm sure it will be closer to my Jonsered 2153 (346xp). Jeremy's recommendation of the 501p is spot on. The 501p has an aluminum handle and I think it has captured bar nuts. Maybe that would be better due to the pro environment. But the engines are the same. In stock trim, the 550xp will out perform it, but as far as longevity, I wouldn't hesitate. I bought mine for $329. Can't touch a new 550xp for less than $600 around here, and it would probably be closer to $670. So, the Echo would be a fantastic back up saw, but has the potential to be a primary saw. Depends on which you like better. It's definitely worth rolling the dice on.

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Depends on what you need. They are vastly different saws. Do you already have a chainsaw? If so, what? The 4910 is LITTLE. Small saw for small work 16" diameter and less. 590 is much bigger and heavier, 22" diameter and less. If you are a homeowner who needs a chainsaw every now and then, and when you do, it is smaller stuff or you wanna pack it around on your 4-wheeler- then get the 4910 with an 18" bar. Much nicer to use than the 590. But if your needs are bigger...get the 590.

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brianfreland9065 neither the 4910 nor the 590 is enough to mill slabs with. Unless the biggest log you ever intend to mill is 16" in diameter. Seriously. I mill with two of my chainsaws. My 3120XP and 592XP. I would not recommend anything less than 70cc for milling, and even then...bigger. milling takes a massive amount of power and a lot of oil for the chain. I have videos of me milling on the channel.

      @@novicelumberjack I'm just doing small stuff for my personal hobbies and interests. I'm not making counter tops or anything. Shelves, decorative pieces or even a 2x4 or 4x4 if needed for something. Nothing crazy but I also want it to be able to be a tool for taking down a small tree and bucking a ton of wood up for processing and splitting. I just cant imagine needing more than 60cc for that but I'm not sure the 4910 would pull a 20-22inch bar. I'm thinking 60cc with a 20-22" is a good middle ground but what do I know haha I've pretty much already made up my mind, I guess I'm just wondering if $420 is a good price for a 60cc pulling a 22. The next step up I'd buy is a husqvarna 562xp at 780 bucks. The $420 tag on the cs590 is why I'm even considering it cause I dont believe the extra 2 cc is worth double the price of the 590 haha

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@brianfreland9065 Well, the 590 would be better to mill with than a 562xp. But mod the muffler. Gotta get that heat out. Don't even attempt to mill anything with a bar bigger than 24" (a 24" bar is only physically capable of milling about 16"). Leave the carburetor stock, but open up the muffler and the 590 should do the job for you. A 562xp is high strung and runs hot already. The 590 has a long stroke, lower rpm, and better suited to milling.
