Read many reviews. I bought and held my breath a Echo 620. I'm a die hard husky man and it was hard leaving the brand. My first saw job with my new 620 was a very large oak log. How I found Echo: I used a friend's Echo top-handle a few times and his Echo weedwhacker dozens of times and was impressed with the Echo equipment. Best comparison I’ve seen between 590 and 620. I’d love to see your take on 620 vs 680, which is only $20 more and has a more traditional air filter and manual oiler.
Thanks for the informative video here. I just picked up a new CS-620PW, same saw with a wrap handle and 27 inch bar. I'm a little confused why they came up with a 27 and not an even number. The first thing I did after putting on the bar and chain was take off the air filter. I thought they had forgotten the o-ring on mine, because it seemed loose fitting.
Im doing the muffler deflector mod today. Taking the limiters too. So hard not to go all out on the muffler. I just spent 25 hours porting a set of 781 BBC heads. Look at that muffler and all I want to do is bore a big hole in it, but not sure I want the noise.
I put longer bar bolts and homemade spike outside and made roller chain catcher and added rubber motor mounts to make it solid for longer bar not just shaky av springs rim sprocket gutted muffler block top rear outlet pipe straight out the front CS 590 don't want the unlimited coil a bigger carb made it so strong and fast I want it to last got to put my degree wheel and timing light on it someday but no hurry
Great review! I was just about to pull the trigger on a Stihl 391 when I ran across this review. It hadn't occurred to me that the Echo 310 I've been using for light work and limbing for the last ten years has never given me any trouble, so why not go to Echo for my felling saw. My only complaint with the 310 is that I have to empty the unused b&c oil out of it after every use or it ends up leaking all over the place. I hope the 620 doesn't have that issue. I used your discount code at Saw Suppliers and got a $50 discount on the 3 bar and chain bundle. Thank you very much, Sir!
Hi Brody bud . I don't know if you remember me but you gave me advice on greasing the needle bearing on my 501sx . I also have a 4310sx which is the 43cc pro European saw not available in the usa . Last week I just got my brand new 621sx which is pretty much the 620p . Tbh I was a little surprised with the weight of it but none the less its great and the torque is excellent. See I was a husqvarna guy but I don't have any husqvarna saws now love my echo saws
I just bought this saw yesterday. I just decided to look up any videos on it and cam across this one. Thanks for sharing this is very informative. I am interested in finding out more about the motorcycle filter you mentioned. If you can, please post what it is or a link to where I can get one. Thanks much.
New to your channel. Great Video on the echo 620 ! Lots of information everyone wants to know! Not just alot of cutting cookies ! I purchased the echo 7310p this year and its a awesome saw with NO problems. Again Thanks for your reviews my friend!
Best review I've seen on these saws brother 👍 Alot of saw for the money. Mite not be the fastest out there but they are built like tanks and last a long time under heavy use. The 590 is good but the 620 is better for heavy duty use for not much more money. Good point on the metal clutch cover and heat dissipation. That and having a free flow muffler to get rid of heat. Keep em cool and keep em sharp👍
Can't thank you enough for this review... I'm still breaking in mine but I find it handles dogging in while bucking like a boss! My huskies like to have the RPM's up so dogging in isn't the way I run those. Who did your muffler mod if you don't mind me asking. I have a 20" bar on mine but I'm 5'8". Us short guys can buck with a 20" bar just fine! LOL
Any opinions on bar with the hole to be able to grease the nose of the bar compared to the bars where there is no grease hole? seems like there was an oregon bar with replaceable nose that does had a grease hole, but it is hard to find it. Is easier to find the power match bar with replaceable nose but no grease hole.
Hello I just subscribed and I have watched your videos and I really like the way you do your videos, thanks , what would say about 602 & 680 for chainsaw milling?
I just picked up a 620p with 27 inch bar and full chisel chain based on this video. I love it! Thank you! I haven't had a chance to do the muffler mod or filter upgrade yet so knowing a little more power is in it's future is even better. Do you have any thoughts on putting a 28 inch lightweight bar and semi-chisel safety chain on it? I like the idea of getting the tip a little lighter for better balance and the peace of mind in using a semi-chisel safety chain. But I'd love your thoughts and any bar and chain recommendations if you have them.
Great review on the 620, I have never owned an echo, I see nothing but good reviews on them I live in interior Alaska where temps get as low as -50f, so I use my saws in very cold conditions sometimes, Stihl, Husky, Jonsereds, are the norm atleast where I live, how are the echos in extreme both hot and cold conditions as far as break in I heard it takes alot longer, I run my Jonsereds, they are my favorite it's to bad they aren't made anymore, I am partial to red/black dont ask me why, my question is the echo 620 and the Shindaiwa 600sx are essentially the same saw much like a a husky 372 and a jonsered 2172, would a full wrap bar from a 620 readily fit a 600sx, also and this is a big one, why aren't the Shindies shown more love with the saw folks, can you do a longterm test on a Shindaiwa 600sx, I really want one with a good woods port, excellent video by the way very concise and informative, by the way my names Rich using my significant others phone.
For 250 bucks? order the full wrap and a 620 jug and call it close enough. If you see you are running it "all day" you can probably find a mag cover. I Fooked up.. guy had a 590 and about 1000 bucks in climbing gear, plus a mini mac top handle and a ryobi battery saw for 400 bucks. been kicking myself in the rear ever since.. Ive never owned a 590 but they have such a reputation for "best firewood saw" for a reason... 620pw is getting ordered monday and my little 3510 is a brushing ajd trail clearing light saber. If I blow that saw up today, i'd IMMEDIATELY replace it.
you can upgrade a 590 to be a 620 but it would probably be cheaper to just buy a 620,but the 590's are great bang for buck as is. Likely the best for a 60cc saw
I’ve got a ms362, and a couple of 2156 Jonsered’s. They are good running 57-59 cc saws. I’m sure the Echo is right there, but claims of more torque and more power in the cut are just that; claims. Without dyno or another device to record torque or hp, you cannot accurately know. I’d like to try one out, I’m sure it’s a good saw.
Running them all I know. Dyno doesn't tell all. Sorry to bust that bubble . Peak hp doesn't say it all either. If you know then you know. You haven't even ran one so you are just guessing.

Also, who did your muffler mod? That looks like more than just a ground out muffler... that welded pipe pushing the exhaust out the front is the way to go.

Echo for the smart man and Stihl for the grunts, if you like the ergos of stihl go for it, but stihl is riding the name today and is priced to show it, echo mag case vs stihl plastic, similar weight, better torque, cheaper but built better and usable power, you can’t beat it price weight power and quality, but let the brand boys and fan boys be fan boys

@@Broddi169 each to their own. But I used to production cut and still do occasionally and no one I know is using a bar above 18" to sned out a tree. Great for falling, just stand at one side of the tree and it's over in three cuts but not really practical for the rest.
What are you talking about? It was not a criticism it was just an opinion! If you are cutting production speed as a timber faller and also having to sned the branches off then using A long bar for the snedding is, in my experience and the experience of everyone iv cut with, worse for your back. Maybe it's different for cutting firewood or something. It's just my experience.
@@Broddi169 mine sure is, I've had it 11 months the pull cord came messed up out of box I had to tear it apart before I could even use it the first time. I should've taken it back then and there. Nah. I’m 5’9, 150 lbs. I got one with a 28 bar as well. Now my back doesn’t hurt after bucking because I stay up right.
One of the many reasons I love a 28. Short bars will work you to death.
Thank you for this review! Very detailed, still useful today!

My 620 never leaks
Thank you for the review! I just ordered the 620PW with the Echo 27" bar using the "Shacker" discount. Cant wait to rip into some hardwoods.
Enjoy. Thanks for watching

What a great video! I plan on getting one.
I think I do remember that. Echo makes great products. Always glad to help others with info . Thanks for watching.
This might the one for me nice video Brother. I like what i see so far.

I just bought this saw yesterday. I just decided to look up any videos on it and cam across this one. Thanks for sharing this is very informative. I am interested in finding out more about the motorcycle filter you mentioned. If you can, please post what it is or a link to where I can get one. Thanks much.
Does removing the muffler baffle and limiter screws void the warranty?
Yep. Never needed it
Great Video very detailed. Thank you !!

New to your channel. Great Video on the echo 620 ! Lots of information everyone wants to know! Not just alot of cutting cookies ! I purchased the echo 7310p this year and its a awesome saw with NO problems. Again Thanks for your reviews my friend!
Thank you
Best review I've seen on these saws brother 👍 Alot of saw for the money.
This video made up my mind . thanks for the code too saved me alot of money
Awesome. Ordering one now
I’m thinking of the 620 as an upgrade from my old 455 rancher. Do you think the 620 has significantly more power than the 455?
Way more power
I have one and love it I run 28” on mine all the time pulls hard!!!
Aweome saws
Can't thank you enough for this review... I'm still breaking in mine but I find it handles dogging in while bucking like a boss! My huskies like to have the RPM's up so dogging in isn't the way I run those. Who did your muffler mod if you don't mind me asking. I have a 20" bar on mine but I'm 5'8". Us short guys can buck with a 20" bar just fine! LOL
Guy named Matt House made the muffler. Thanks for watching
What's the size of O ring did you use for the air cilter?
inside.. 11/16 outside.. 7/8 thickness 3/32
@@Broddi169 Thanks for the info!
Would be ok for smaller milling
Im not trying to be funny but how many times have you replaced a tip on a bar i have never and have plenty that are able to be replaced
It's not hard
I just picked up a 620p with 27 inch bar and full chisel chain based on this video. I love it! Thank you! I haven't had a chance to do the muffler mod or filter upgrade yet so knowing a little more power is in it's future is even better. Do you have any thoughts on putting a 28 inch lightweight bar and semi-chisel safety chain on it? I like the idea of getting the tip a little lighter for better balance and the peace of mind in using a semi-chisel safety chain. But I'd love your thoughts and any bar and chain recommendations if you have them.
I run a 28 and full comp chisel chain
600x is a red 620 .some places the shins are more common and no echo.

Well you’ve made me want this saw over the 590 except I just found a new 590 for $250…. Can’t pass it up. Great vid.
@@mattfleming86 Man don't we all know that feeling, just too few admit it.
you can upgrade a 590 to be a 620 but it would probably be cheaper to just buy a 620,but the 590's are great bang for buck as is. Likely the best for a 60cc saw
I agree
Lot of saw for the money. Thanks man for your review
@@Broddi169 What is the port timing on the 590 and the 620? Just wondering?
Not the same or top ends.
@@Broddi169 not asking if they are the same, you already said they weren’t just wondering if you have the timing numbers? You said they had different port timing in your video, so I assumed you had the numbers.

Been looking at the 620pw. I have a 450 rancher right now its a POS.
It will be a night n day switch. Rancher series is all junk now.
@@Broddi169 mine sure is, I've had it 11 months the pull cord came messed up out of box I had to tear it apart before I could even use it the first time. I should've taken it back then and there. It caught on fire last winter because the bars they put on don't have a grease port in the tip, which seized and overheated the motor. I bought and Oregon bar for it. A few weeks ago the the starter engagement from the cord broke as soon as I replaced that the teeth on the chain drive broke and it stopped running. It's now in for warranty for the second time.
