Thank you for this video. My daughter is almost 13 and she hit puberty before all her classmates. It seemed like overnight she went from mommys little girl in ponytails and pink dresses. Then about a year and a half ago she couldn't stand wearing pink hated it and was more of a tomboy and didn't even like being called a tomboy becasue she said "im a girl why should i be called a tom BOY just becasue i have my own ways of expressing myself. She started wearing more jeans and plain tshirts but it didnt bother me becasue i am a jean and flannel girl ive never been a girly girl but i do like to dress up and get sexy. Anyways suddenly she told me she wanted her beautiful long golden hair that was down her back cut and so i agreed thinking she wanted a Bob but no she wanted it short to her ears. I did cry becasue she looked soo different to me. Growing up i was always boy crazy from as far back as i can remeber so i was surprised to see that all her friends had crushes but she did not but also i was relieved and proud that boys were not her priority. This past year me and my fiancee suspected she might be gay but i also wasnt going to force it out of her. Well last night just two days b4 Christmas i came in her room to kiss her goodnight and she was crying she told me "i have to tell you something" but i already knew. Thru her sniffling and tears she stuttered " i like...... Wwww" and i calmly finished her sentenced "woman right? You like girls" and she nodded in shock as if i read her mind. and i told her "mija me and Juan (my fiancee) already kinda thought maybe you did. I told her " im your mom you came out of me and i know you more than you realize baby and i still and always will love you no matter what, but you are only 12 and in my eyes to young to date, however when your a little older you still are certain you feel the same way or you feel you feel you like boys and girls thats ok too becasue were constantly growing, so for now just know i love you and nothing can change that". She looked so happy and relieved but still sad becasue she has a long time friend/neighbor whos raised mormon and although he doesnt know she's gay she said he's told her that being gay is a sin and my reply to her was "you have a huge heart and in my eyes the only sin would be to turn your back on someone who you truly love based on other peoples opinion" sorry i wrote an essay but this is new to me and i just want to make sure she feels supported in every way. She had tons of friends boys and girls and honestly times have changed and people are more accepting and educated so i only pray that whatever path she chooses she'll recieve nothing but love and support because she is still my little girl and if something hurts her it hurts me.
Pr.incorporated I know it must be hard because your friends and your family are on two different categories and sometimes you can tell your friends things that you can't tell your parents fortunately my daughter and me are tight we are like best friends but I'm always her mother first and Friends 2nd regardless I think that your family will love you no matter what and like I said for all you know they have may already suspected it and are just waiting for you to come out and tell them my daughter only 13 years old and I already suspected it right away like I wrote earlier she's my daughter she came out of me I know her better than she knows herself sometimes I'm just thankful that nowadays people are a lot more accepting of these things and not as critical as they were back in my day more power to you I really respect you for speaking your mind and you're an awesome person no matter what anybody else thinks

My family is christian and kinda close-minded so I'm afraid to come out as bi to them, I'm only 16 so they would probably think I'm just confused or just a phase (the reason why I chose to label myself with a sexually fluid orientation, it's because I consider I know I'm in between the "spectrum" and if sometimes I feel more on a side than the other of this spec, then I won't have to change my label, so I really hope it's not a phase). I was also boy crazy till I turnt 14, I literally used to have crushes on every guy friend that I had, so I never "reconsidered" my sexuality until I met a girl that I felt really attracted to, it was more of a aesthetical and sexual attraction than a romantic one, that's why I don't feel so assured of my identity, cause I haven't felt romantic feelings for girls as I have for guys and it baffles me a lot. I think it's quite rare to be exclusively homosexual or exclusively heterosexual. You can still identify as gay or lesbian even if you've had feelings for someone of the opposite gender in the past or think you might in the future. As Steph said, sexuality is fluid, so don't worry about it so much! :D

CarissaTProjects I guess I am one of the rare ones then! I agree that a lot more people like both sexes than they admit (& more people are being open about it nowadays) but there are some on either end of the spectrum too.

Oh definitely! I don't mean that I think most people are somewhere in the middle of the spectrum, I mean more like not many people are like, totally 100% gay or 100% straight, as Steph said there are always grey areas so we should always be understanding if somebody changes their identity :)

I really questioned my sexual orientation too, when I liked a girl for the first time. But I wasn't sure if it was enough, if I could date women. What helped for me was to open myself up to the idea that I might be bi, but identified as nothing and just saw what was happening. Because you don't have to know. You can just say "I'm not sure what my orientation is yet".

Exactly, with me I admire physically but not emotionally I know that I am straight but obviously we're not blind you can say a girl is attractive without wanting to date them. Vanessa kim Well, if you do feel that way, it’s most likely that you like girls too. Though, you don’t necessarily have to label yourself with something specific, let it be. In fact, as a confused person myself since I know for a fact that I like girls but I don’t know if I like guys too, I just prefer to call myself queer and stop overthinking. It’s okay to be confused, you are valid no matter what. You may at some point figure out your sexuality but then again, you may not ever do and that’s totally normal.

Isabel Osborn that is true but long before you come out to your parents, best friend etc you have to come out to yourself and accept your sexual orientation as part of your identity, gain confidence and so on. So in the end it's a long process where you get to discover who you truly are. I just disagree with coming out to others because if we want equality then coming out should've never existed. Straight people don't feel the pressure to come out and wait for an approval from their parents.

Badizabeth Hollingsworth come out whenever you are ready and know it's safe. Maybe start out with "I need to tell you something" so they wont let you back out. Explain what you are like they are a child, if they get mad, it's ok, just keep reintroducing it. Educate them and remember: Do it when you're for sure ready!💜

I remember 2 years ago, in 5th grade, when I was so confused and I didn’t know what to do, all of the other girls were talking about liking guys and while they were noticing the opposite sex I was noticing the same sex, I considered that perhaps I was gay, but I thought that since I was so young it could just be a phase but it felt like I was holding a big secret, like there was a weight on my shoulders getting heavier with every day, and this video helped me a lot. Now I am out to my whole grade, as a proud gay girl, it is a little annoying that I’m the only one as far as I know but it feels a lot better to at least know who I am

This is what i needed because i have a girlfriend now and i told my mum about it recently but my mum always said 'you could kiss a girl and not like it' or ' its because you go to an all girls school you're just confused'. But up until recently my girlfriend kissed me and i liked it. That was my first kiss but i could kiss a guy and not like it but i dont know. This video helped me a lot because i have been thinking about if i wasnt really bisexual, is this just a phase, am I disrespecting the community if i realise im not bisexual. I thought I was straight until I was 15 at which point I went on a journey of depression and self discovery. I ended up just smoking a ton of weed and trying some weird shit with my gay friends. I'm 100% I'm bi now and it's nice to be comfortable with your sexuality whatever it is. Too all their own.

What I meant by that is that I actually told people I was bisexual knowing deep down I wasn't because I was testing out the water before I fully dip in... I pretended to be bisexual but later on I felt comfortable with myself & came out as gay knowing I was 100% sure

I'm constantly pretty scared people don't get that I identify as pansexual right now but I'm questioning whether I might actually just be gay and I'm scared that people will invalidate how I feel right now if I'll ever come out as gay which also is why I haven't straight up told my family I'm pansexual, just that I have a girlfriend and that I like people for who they are, not for their gender.
I know those feels~! I've been low key coming out in pieces personally. I haven't straight up ( huehue) come out to my immediate family. But I've been leaving little bread crumbs for them and people in general. I personally don't feel comfortable with making a production out of it. But that doesn't mean either of us can't just make it obvious through how we lead our lives. If you find someone special who makes it obvious you aren't straight just roll with it! Carefully mind you. But don't not do something because you're afraid of other people's reactions either.
I imagine myself as pansexual in theory - I'm not limiting or restricting how I feel to say that I could never fall in love with someone of any of the genders, or none at all, but in reality i feel more kind of gay/bi. I don't want to 'come out' so to speak, because that suggests that I've been hiding somewhere. I haven't. Straight people don't come out, so why should I? It's just who I have feelings for.
In the end, don't stress the labels, just embrace liking someone, whoever they are.
izzy searles tbh I didn't really come out either I just told my parents 'um I guess I have a girlfriend now' (I was shook tbh) and when they ask I'm just like: I like Jani (her name is Janica and she's lovely) and I just like people in general I just like whoever I want to like and if y'all want a label I guess pansexual fits

I'm currently just undergoing this struggle of identifying myself, and constantly questioning myself if this is only a phase...until I saw your video and get so fascinated with the idea of 'fluidity'--indeed, who I am depends on how I define myself, life keeps changing and why can't my sexual inclination? Have always known i wasn't straight but liked both guys and girls.
Spent my twentys in relationships with guys and then met my wife to be at 28.
So yep life can throw you curve balls but you can't help who you fall in love with.
I kinda have a problem with the whole "sexuality is fluid" thing tho. I mean I kinda agree with it, however, I've also had men use that against me in their efforts to pursue me even when I told them no and that I was a lesbian.
I've once been told, "Hey, but you know sexuality is fluid, so I mean you could give guys like me a chance if you really wanted to! You never know!" Like no I do know. So I mean yeah I think sexuality CAN be fluid but I also have a big problem with using that to further perpetuate lesbophobia, telling lesbians that they should give men a chance and "they never know" which explains in itself why that's a gross thing to do. Other than that I agree with ya Steph.

Agreed. Sexuality is fluid FOR SOME, but for some others it can really be written in stone. Everybody is different and experiences attraction differently. I'm sorry you had to go though that though

I completely understand what you are going through. I have had a huge crush on my female bff for a good two years now. October 31, 2017, my boy cousin that is in my grade started dating her. I love my cousin and I love her so it kind of crushed me inside. I went home and cried for hours when they announced it. I'm healing though and it is possible to get over your feeling for a person. I've been to find another person to love. And the fact is, you can't help whether she is straight, gay, etc. all there is left to do is ride the waves. If she is LGBTQIA then she will come out in time. If she isn't that is how fate has planned it. I wish you the best of luck. Don't stress too much. 😉

At 60 years old I am finally acknowledging and dipping a toe into my bisexuality. I have fought this because I have been married to men and felt this was the only true attraction for me, but now I 'm in an open marriage and not at all intimate for the past many years with the husband. I just thought of something: it's kinda like how when people get married one often often changes their last name. If they divorce and take their old name they're still the same person. I guess I mean if a lesbian was with a guy and broke up she's still herself and still a lesbian. OK HERE'S WHAT I MEAN EXACTLY: Your name/label does not define you as a person. At 10 you might love unicorns and hate penguin and at 11 you might hate unicorns and love penguins (it DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE OR HAVEN'T MET THE RIGHT WHATEVER. I'm not gonna see a guy and suddenly identify as straight) But either way you're still yourself, your name does not change to penguin lover, unicorn hater, it stays as your name. Which is amazing. No matter how you change you are yourself and labels do not define your name nor you. Be who you are now, not last year unless you want to. Also remember your name doesn't necessarily define you either.

Well, if gender does not matter to you, then you would be considered pan sexual. Pan sexual depends on your perspective.
