SDS drill, oh yeah! Nice to hear praise for the other half, and glad to see your kids getting stuck in, I wish my lad would help us out now and again but he's turned into a hermit! All the best
I have an older one here who's developed hermititus too
Fab 👌 really good to watch really impressive skills and ideas
Thank you . Used the footage myself to find where I left those first fix wires in the wall !!
Jim that is fantastic. When you get finished ~ you and Ben need to come to my house. Ben can organize my shop and we can build a conservatory on the back of my house. Looking forward to your progress.
I've told you before, I'm waiting for the freeway to be built from Wales............
bloody hell mate! that concrete breaker reminded me of my time in the dental rooms at school!
Glad I never went to your school
Wow Jim! Y’all got a lot done. Looking good 😃👍🏼
Seem to have the weather against me this year, started painting in April!
New subscriber! You sound like my buddy Jim! =D Great stuff!
Hello John, I can also sound like Ben (badly) sonetimes lol, thanks for subscribing, this is my spare channel, smaller subscriber list just for dedicated viewers/ sufferers
How mate, could you please tell me how did you mix the concrete? What was the ratio between cement and sand. Also did you put limestones in it?
Cement mixer . I chucked shovel fulls of sand and cement in and added water .. no lime , that would weaken it . Mix for base standard .. 5 ballast 1 cement .
Nice one Jim! 👍 Your missus is very helpful maybe splash out on a new carddie for Christmas?
🔨👍😁
I find nipples are more interesting minus the cardigan at Christmas mate
@@dadsworkshop I'v got nothing Mate...

I just got one.... It's nice that your daughter is helping you out in the video 👍👍😁
Nice work Jim. Watched the whole build and it looks great. What sort.of planning permission did you need for this, if any?
None for this fixed. Check with Google . But because it's not inside the house you don't need any . Just don't change windows or current external doors
Interesting. My m8 (ex RAF Carpenter) has agreed to build me a timber large Conservatory. Any recommendation for which type of wood? How thick was UR concrete base pls?
Construction grade timber like I used . The concrete under the original patio was 8 tons ... So I used just a 4 inch thick base . No need for anything more sitting on that amount beneath it .
How many bags of cement did you use?
If you remember 😅
Half a bag to every mixer full of sand .🥴
Might be a stupid question… but is your row of bricks laid on top of the patio slabs?
Yep . Those patio slabs are 2 inches thick , weigh 35 kgs each , under those patio slabs is 8 tons of concrete . Normally you would have to put a footing in .
Could you don't in monoblocking? I doubt it because they don't have same footing as slabs
Did u have to have some sort of planning permission
None needed , it's a conservatory not an extension , different rules , Google will tell you
Generally, ok under 'permitted development' if built to side or rear of home.
