Between this and the power shoulder shot videos, I’ve literally stopped slicing, started drawing, and added about 20yards to all my clubs...within one driving range session!!! This is amazing. Completely changed my golf game!! You’re the man Clay!!
Agreed! @@TopSpeedGolf at @9:03 when you mention your right hand is turned a little bit more to the right of the golf club, do you take your original grip then tuck your elbow in? or do you tuck your elbow in then take your grip? Thanks!
This is my first comment on youtube in 10 years. I think this was a lovely video explaining fundamentals in a comprehensive fashion. Understanding what drives the ball flight allows for active adjustment for improved performance. Mucho gracias.
I am just getting into golf coming from a strongman background so naturally coming over the top on the longer clubs is my weakness, however your little elbow top half way through has all but solved my problem. Mr Ballard thank you for your great and relatable content.
I second that, one of the easiest to understand, most helpful breakdowns I have heard. Thanks for this, definitely will be working on all of this and watching more of your videos/teachings.
Nicklaus said in Golf My Way to use the same swing on every shot. To move the ball right or left set up square to where you want the ball to start and have the clubface aiming at where you the ball to finish. So simple.
Hi Clay, instead of swinging inside out or outside in , I find it easier if I aim where I want the ball to start but then aim the club face where i want the ball to finish, For the draw i just try to hit the outside of the ball and to fade I try to hit the inside of the ball. Works well. Trying to hit inside to outside I started to shank.
Hi Edward, you're doing the same thing but thinking about it in a different way. Lots of ways to do it for sure. Glad to hear you found a way that works great for you. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
@Top Speed Golf - Clay Ballard, @9:03 when you mention your right hand is turned a little bit more to the right of the golf club, do you take your original grip then tuck your elbow in? or do you tuck your elbow in then take your grip? Appreciate your videos!! Thanks!
Hi Jim, I like straight down from the lead shoulder. A ball forward or back of that is fine too. Whatever works best for you. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Hi Matt, you had to deloft the club more with the fade usually because opening the face adds loft. Search our channel for "power fade" videos on how to do this. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Hi Joshua, we have done one but I'm not sure if it's on TH-cam. I would search our channel. If not, there are a couple available to All Access Members of the website. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Gregg Daniels iirc, Hogan often fought a hook - so anchoring his elbow to his hip helped him strike with a positive angle to target (face path to right of target line)
To hit a draw, I like to use an alignment stick directed at the target and fairly close to my ball and envision my path moving out from the stick and my face aligned with the stick. To hit a fade, it's the opposite - path coming across the stick and face angle aligned with the stick. Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor
Everyone used to prefer a draw calling it ”the pro curve” but after DJ started hitting a fade I’ve seen it get popular again. Same shot, same swing speed - it seems that the draw shot tends to be a bit longer since the boll ”rolls out” a bit longer. No scientific proof though!
Have always loved your very useful videos, the lectures on how many times I should practice, not so much. I'll work on using your great ideas but "Thirty days in row..." not gonna happen.
Hi Kenneth, thanks for the comment. I agree, it would be great if we had a left handed instructor. Hope you can keep enjoying the videos. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
off in the right rough.. no problem.. tree in the way .. no problem.. I drop back to the old over the top move.. club face opened.. aimed way to left of object in the way and WAM.. slice dat ball right back way down the fairway.... BUTT over in the left rough... ????? cant get the same effect as on the right... wth
If you want to fade the ball with your irons all you have to do is when your in your setup position is drop your left foot back about 2 inches. Stay in that position. You will feel like you hands are ahead of the ball when there not. Swing as you normally would. You will feel like you are swing outside in but your not. This causes the club head to be open at impact. This will cause the ball to move from left to right. To draw the ball you do the opposite. In your setup position you drop your right foot back about 2 inches this puts you into the close position. You will feel like your taking the club into the inside but your not. This will cause the club face to close at impact. The pros do this watch them on TV. The only thing your are adjusting in your stance is your foot position. Try it, it works. You just got a 100 dollar lesson in five minutes.
@@TopSpeedGolf Hey Clay. I'm almost finish a swing aid that I've been working on for 8 years. Love for you to get involved in some capacity. Reason being I respect how you teach, you look in from the outside. I could go on for an hour talking about what my aid does to improve the swing but will cross that bridge if you send me an email at swingcoaster@gmail.com. Cheers.

This is good for course management. I should try this in the future. Keep better score and more greens in regulation to be competitive in the sport.
You should!
Brilliant coach --- honestly this guy reminds me a lot of Nicklaus in Golf My Way part 1..... thanks Clay !!

Hi August, the launch monitor we use is the FlightScope X3. Hope you're playing great! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Hey clay love your videos do you change ball position at all as far as wanting to hit a draw or a fade
Well, my 1st thought, based on the picture used for the video, was that you were doing a commercial for McDonalds!! 😂👍
Surprised they didnt try and sue for copy right on the arches lol

Hi Clay, great video as usual. I have a question for you. my daughter is 13 and will like to start playing golf, do you provide in person coaching?
Clay does this go for your iron also
Yes
How do you keep the same loft between the two so they go the same distance?

What about cog adjustments? And are they hurting or helping?

Hogan's right elbow was stuck to his hip. Was that to take the fade out of his shots?

Teach best with a shot tracer and slow motion camera to display mechanics and then talk it through.

Open your front foot way left (If right handed) picture hitting the ball straight as if you would if you didn't hit with an open stance

Where is the ball position in fade and draw
