    i’ve converted to a small draw during covid and it has really helped my game. It makes my miss much more predictable. Gained probably 20 yards on all of my irons (among other swing changes and tons of practice) and shaved a bunch of strokes off my handicap. The head cover drill is exactly how my coach had my learn the draw. First starting with my wedges using 50-70% swings and working from there

    Cheers Chris, spend some time on the driving range and will definitely work with this. My bad shot is a pull left which means i'm quite often pin high but 5/10 yards left of the pin. Also watched your short game tutorial( haha), so got that covered. Many thanx.

    Great lesson thanks Chris. I used this technique on the course on sunday & its given me a slight baby draw (something i have never been able to do) that has improved my ball striking & has improved my ball flight no end. This way of doing things has also given me extra yardage too, i now need to practice this some more & re-evaluate the yardage for each iron. Now i just need to learn to do this with my driver as it still curves way to the right.

    Whenever I play the best I fade it. But then usually it goes into a weak high fade/slice for while. So then I go and practice trying to hit a draw, do that for a while and play draw or straight which by time becomes a fade, and then fade/slice. And the cycle continues haha

    Hi, I’m a 75 years young golfer, for the past 2 years I have been trying to work a draw into my game. I’m a fader naturally, anytime I need a fade or slice no problem. But I’m finding it hard to hit a draw whenever I want. I’ve tried various setups and swing paths but I can’t seem to hit the draw on demand. Once in awhile I hit the draw but it’s not a shot I can count on. My handicap is 12. I’m looking forward to hitting to range and work on what your showing us.

    Hi Chris, I'm a senior golfer these days but was a single figure golfer for many years. My standard shot was reasonably straight/slight fade but I never felt that I really controlled the ball. After a layoff for a few years, I want to get back to playing more regularly but would like to draw the ball for more control and to compensate with not being able to hit the ball as far. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers Pete (in OZ)

  • @seanedwards1838
    @seanedwards1838 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Everything you said makes sense only question here is i need something to aim and commit to when hitting the shot so for example with all those swing thoughts in mind where were you aiming your swing/face at? Were you aiming face at maybe right edge of the green and committing your swing towards hitting that target and letting the swing thoughts draw and do the work? Sorry for the massive question

    Just increased my swing speed with a little tweak but now I'm hitting everything left. My swing path is inside out but I'm closing the face dramatically even with the face open at address. This is a big change from a large slice. I also chunk my longer irons.

  • @cam101

    Chris, I thought lowering hands slightly creating a slight toe up would help promote a inside/draw path. You mention raising the club therefore toe more down. Will test the others points you mention with both options on driving range. Good video.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Cam, this set up is to move the arc and the path more out to the right. You are correct that lowering the handle will point the face more left, but this movement in the video will shift the circle and have you swinging more right 👍

    I'm just trying to change to a draw for now to fix my swing path to make it more neutral, it also helps establish the basics off the swing really well which is good for amateurs like myself. Been playing a fade since I started learning last year and the swing path was just starting to get a bit too out to in.

  • @golfnutnz9274

    Thanks Chris, great explanation again.
    My natural shot is a fade with irons but I can draw when needed, albeit by using my feet position, however I’ll be taking this method to the range to give it a go. That said my driver and woods natural swing is a draw, unless the testosterone kicks in for a big hit, then it’s a fade... well a cut... uuum no, let’s be honest, it a slice... a big slice, a where the hell is that going slice!
    Thankfully I don’t do that so often these days and just rely on your coached tempo and technique.

I do prefer a baby fade compared to a draw but for the past month with my coach mentally I am standing over the ball not thinking of a draw or fade and just aim straight and with my own swing the ball ! Hope this makes a little sense !

    Drawing with irons works ok, but somehow balls always start at target, and draws right of target (playing left handed) even I try to align and start left of target 🙄 🤔 - Recommendations, thx.

    I feel like I’m over rotating on follow through. Iron shots when hit well go left

    I’m a newly returning golfer after a 15 year layoff. And even as a young teenager I’ve always had and still do have a bad push/slice no matter what I try. Please could you help me ?

      Sounds like it just face control Andrew. I’d look to control the face on the backswing 👍
