    A perfect rack of Honduran rotation. For the first time ever, recorded on video!
    Honduran rotation is extremely challenging, and, according to the shooter, is the game they play in Honduras.
    It starts with the 1-ball on the foot spot, and the other 14 balls frozen on the rails in ascending order, as you see in the video. The game requires a wide range of skills including banks, combinations, as well as pinpoint accuracy and extraordinary touch.
    This is the first time a perfectly run rack has been recorded on video. Yes, it is that challenging! Try it!
    1. The one ball is a natural spot shot, from behind the head string, but positioned so that the cue ball falls onto the inside edge of the 3-ball, bumping it just off the rail. This sets up a later bump on the 6. That's right, on this opening shot we are playing 6 balls ahead!
    2. The 2-ball is easily enough pocketed but the flawlessly played strategic draw into a bump on the 6-ball is a key setup in the run.
    3. The 3-ball is easy only because the play on the 1-ball popped it out. In this shot, a good bit of inside english to kill the travel, avoiding trouble with the side pocket and offering shape on the 4-ball.
    4. The shot on the 4-ball is classic. Gobs of inside english, with a rail-first hit on the 4-ball cause the cue ball to go down-table under the 15 ball, and then back up-table in a most unexpected display of control and touch, delivering the cue ball to the 5-ball.
    5. The 5-ball is relatively simple because of the spectacular position off the 4-ball, and because the 6-ball is waiting near the side pocket, thanks to the perfect shot on the 2-ball. It seems as if there is some Grand Plan going on here, and there is!
    6. The 6-ball is so simple, but remember that this easy 6-ball was set up earlier by a shot on the 2-ball. Now it may become clearer that this game is quite a bit more than it appears.
    7. Shooter is heard to speak for the second time in this video when he says "Not what I wanted, but I'll take what I get." And then he proceeds to play the object ball cross corner with such confidence that he doesn't even watch the lazy slow roll to the hole and stays down through it all, with utter confidence that it will drop.
    8. The 8-ball is a combination on the 9-ball, and he left himself perfect on it with his spectacular shot on the 7-ball. He sinks the combination and the cue ball follows to the head rail and back out for the bank on the 8-ball.
    9. The 8-ball is banked almost nonchalantly, surprisingly gently, coming off the rail for natural shape on the 10-ball.
    10. The 10-ball gets inside english, of course, but with strong follow-through and top english as well. I love this shot, one of the first he taught me. It's almost a diagonal, downward-twisting motion of the cue at delivery. The action it produces is poetry, coming around nicely, three cushions for the 11.
    11. The 11-ball is a carbon copy of the 10-ball, but of course different, especially with regard to speed and touch, but he handles it flawlessly.
    12. The 12-ball is surprising in its simplicity, but it leaves you wondering because it is so far away from the 13, which now seems impossible. Could he be playing for the three ball combination?
    13. This shot is absolutely stunning, on several levels. First of all, it is completely unexpected, and it happens so fast, with such incredible force, and with such deadly accuracy.... well, the senses are overloaded on this one.
    14. Shooter knows he is closing in on a perfect rack. After such an adrenaline pumping shot on the 13, it would be easy to shoot the next shot too quickly, but shows the wisdom of his many years with this game, and and he is shown taking a bit of extra time on the bank shot into the side pocket. And he comes 3 rails for shape on the 15.
    15. A shot like this is where many a choke would occur, but he nails it with such an abundance of confidence that one could truly say that he achieved the limit with this shot.
    Some people have remarked that the shot on the 15 ball is headed for a scratch in the side pocket. The cue ball got close, but did not drop. To see the entire video showing that the cue ball stayed up, view The full, uncut version of this video is here: • Video
    And there you have it. A historic moment in the world of pool. Congratulations, Tony Sorto for showing us the world class shot-making skill that it takes to complete a perfect rack in Honduran rotation, and to do it on video, first time ever, so all the world can enjoy it and learn from it. Fantastic...

    I played and learned from Tony as well as FastMikie69 here. Played with Tony for 3 years and he told me, the last time he changed his tip was 5 years prior to me meeting him. Thats 8 years for a moori soft. It is his Off turn routine that keeps his tip in top notch play.
    He uses a tip pick and side SHAVER not a scoufer EVERY time he is not shooting. By doing this, the tip NEVER gets Glossy

    This is a demanding series of shots executed in perfect succession highlighting, brilliantly, the use of inside english.
    Indeed, Sorto was definitely calibrated to inside-follow evidenced by the fact that he strokes the 15 in the same way.
    He worked some serious stroke on the 13. I can't tell his angle on the shot precisely (camera angle), but I know it got close to the raggedy edges of making that bank go. Especially as far as the double kiss and yet to force through and around... Bravo.

  • @christansdad

    The shots on the 4, 5, and 14 were the most impressive as they were high difficulty shots involving angle and touch. I was surprised you decided to bank the 14 in the side and not the corner where you put the 13...I figured sending the cue ball the long way towards the middle of the table would give a better angle on the 15. Impressive.

    To all those who comment about the chalking method, I sincerely suggest that when You can run this table, then You can legitimately critique Others. Meanwhile, the unorthodox chalking method is clearly Not in any way causing problems for the shooter, only for those watching. I have long ago concluded that this is a subtle sharking technique used to mess with an opponent's mind. I would venture to suggest that this particular shooter could run this table with NO chalk whatsoever...

    I'm back for a second analysis on this one....you have to be so spot on to deal with balls frozen to the rail using English...this is so pin point accurate! now the 8 9 combo with good shape on the 8 afterwards has got me perplexed... are all these balls completely frozen???!!!

    Considering the fact that you play on competition table (small holes), it's really amazing run.. Nice cueing, cool banking (13ball is the top of course.. :) I love these straight turbo-banks..)
    Anyway - thanks for the tip. I have never seen this game, must try this when I go practice (means tomorrow.. :) )
    Yes, and I like the "waiting for the pot sound" on the brown.. :) Sometimes I do the same - just close my eyes and waiting to hear to correct sound.. (ooor not.. ))

    Great run. Do you always wind up with banks and combinations in this game or can the best players do it "straight?"

    • @MichaelMcCafferty
      @MichaelMcCafferty  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bkeers I think it would take a skill level even beyond Reyes to run this table without banks or combinations. Consider the difficulty on getting shape on, say, the 8 ball to play it straight into the pocket... There is only one pocket to play it in, all the way down the rail past the center pocket. Getting shape to be able to do that would be rather miraculous, especially considering that you would have just played the 4, 5, 6, and 7 into the same pocket, and each time getting shape on the next ball in such a way to pocket the next ball straight down the rail and still get shape on the subsequent ball. And when you consider that getting such shape is made even more difficult because the opposite long rail is littered with stripes... well, it's just unthinkable. One way to make it somewhat less difficult is if you could knock a ball off the rail and still get shape on it, so that this would give you more pockets available to shoot the ball, as with the case of the 6 ball and 3 ball in this runout. However, bumping a ball and getting shape on it is notoriously difficult because you are playing position on 2 balls at once and still need to consider shape for the 3rd and 4th balls after that. Show me the player who can do that! :)

    • @MichaelMcCafferty
      @MichaelMcCafferty  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? There's a rule about no banking? How would you pocket the 13 without banking? Or the 7 and 8 without banking? Show me a video of anyone doing this runout without banking?

    • @cqsqaqwq
      @cqsqaqwq 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael McCafferty well instead of banking the 13 ball he could have just shot the 15 ball come around 3 rails and then shot the 14 to get those two out of the way. There's almost always more than one way to do it. This setup he's doing is good practice for those rail cut shots. Still good shootin!

    • @MichaelMcCafferty
      @MichaelMcCafferty  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chad... I think you may have missed the word "Rotation" in the video title. The basic premise is that you must shoot at the lowest numbered ball on the table at all times. So, it's just not allowed to shoot the 15 before the 14. Got it? :)

      +Arsenal Tengu medium top, medium right. I think he wanted more action on the right english, so that it would hit the bottom rail first, but it worked out quite well anyway. He gets extreme english by hitting down into the ball with heavy follow through.

    The point of practicing those rail shots is to not gain contact with the other balls. You need to maneuver the rock (cueball) between the balls and not bank shots in. As you did towards the end. Good out though, but you missed the concept of that practice setup.

    • @MichaelMcCafferty
      @MichaelMcCafferty  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not a practice setup. It is the only game played in many countries. And bank shots are permitted, as is contact with other balls.

    Why do all pool videos have so many dislikes? Is the playerbase just toxic or what's the deal

      Interesting question! I think it was Earl who was quoted as saying that "pool is a beautiful game played by ugly people". Not all are ugly, of course... I've met a few cuties. It seems that this video gets a lot of dislikes because of the noisy chalking that drives people up a wall. They're missing the beauty of the game by going to the dark side...

    • @MichaelMcCafferty
      @MichaelMcCafferty  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure? You have a rule book on this? Or a link to the rules? Those shots are intentional, for example: pocketing the 1 ball and using the 3 ball to hold for position on the 2 while moving the 3 off the rail... and picking the 6 ball off the rail when pocketing the 2. Take another look and check out what he's really doing!

    • @jackzhang631
      @jackzhang631 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made that comment precisely because I see what he did. Otherwise this drill is much more challenging. I do agree there could be different version of rules on this. But I said pretty sure cuz once a certified pool instructor showed me this.

      Sure didn't mean to give you any 'tone' Jack. Just curious if there were any written rules for this game. I've never seen any. It could be a lot like 8-ball where there are lots of Local variations to the written rules. There was one guy here who said that this game should be played without banking, and i think that would just be impossible. In any case, it would be great to see *any* variation of this game, especially without touching any other balls. If you or anyone you know can do this, I'd love to see the video posted here. And that statement was made without any 'tone' at all, just a sincere desire to see Anyone else do this.

      I like to give people benefit of the doubt. How come you didn't show that shot, just kept leaning on the table and blocking view. Just curious.

      well, for starters, there wasn't anything doubtful about that shot. I was standing behind the camera the whole time and saw every second of the run, just like I saw every second of every one of the 104 attempts before this runout. Also, notice the shooter's form. He is not intentionally blocking the view, he is just Staying Down. You have probably learned that it is important to Stay Down on the shot, and what you have here is an excellent example of that. What you are looking at with this shot is total Confidence, Focus, and Form. And last, there was only one camera in use, and it was on a tripod, so only one angle. If this view wasn't blocked, then another shot would have been blocked for the same reason.

      Woohoo. Great job on the run! Pool is all about angles when it comes down to it. I believe that when playing pool, even on line, almost every shot is make able. Jeanette Lee, is the greatest ever !!!

      Interesting observation! I've watched it a few times, and it's close, but seems to be too grainy to me to be absolutely sure. Thanks!

      +Michael McCafferty you covered the ball when it was on his way to the pocket.

      Marley: "covered the ball"? I didn't cover it. I was standing behind the video camera. The shooter was between the camera and the pocket. Are you suggesting that the ball did not go in?

    With huge pockets like that I'm not that impressed. Do it on a Snooker table, now that would be something.

      a snooker table was unavailable for this video shoot, but you are invited to do it on a snooker table and post the video here, and we'll all be impressed... :)

    Don't call it perfect if you're using banks and combinations , (banks+combinations) = no precision

    • @MichaelMcCafferty
      @MichaelMcCafferty  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is respectfully suggested that you reconsider your statement after you try this game a few thousand times and see if you, or anyone, could run out without banks and/or combinations. If you do achieve what you say is possible, post a video so we can all appreciate your genius and skill.
