Hey Gregor, could you please create a tutorial on how you create your tutorials? Primarily, your screen recording, video and audio input setup and settings. Thank you.
Excellent tutorial, Gregor. Well Done. We so appreciate you taking the time to explain all the ins and outs of Studio One. You are a talented and wonderful teacher. Please keep them coming :)
At 5:14 seconds you can see there are only 3 split modes: Normal, Channel Split and Freq Split. I always felt there should be a 4th option for Mid-Side Split - this way, we would not have to open two additional 'mixtool plugins' for mid-side processing. Streamlined workflow...
Ah, the splitter. Add Mixtool to either end of a split, activate mid/side on each Mixtool and then EQ mid and side independently. Excellent tool for opening up mixes you don't have stems for.
@@powerpopaholic876 Pretty much. So, you'll start it wherever in the specific signal flow you choose, via placing Mixtool there ─ with "MS Transform" activated, obviously. But, _then_ you'll need to use the splitter tool, set to Channel mode. Graphically speaking, the left channel of the split is now Mid and the right channel is now Side. Once you've had your fill of mid/side work, you'll still need to rejoin back to stereo. So, you'll simply drop in a final second instance of Mixtool again with MS Transform activated. Et voila. Stereo to mid/side, niche audio work done, mid/side back to stereo.
Addendum: I was in such a hurry with stuff here, I didn't notice I was playing with a mono kick while discussing this. Studio One doesn't handle mid/side processing mono tracks as rationally as I'd prefer, though there may be a trick I simply don't know about. My solution so far is to create two separate sends and equip them as I described; the catch is that one FX channel will only support the Mid channel, and the other one the Side. If you have more total ambient work to do after that, send them to a Bus channel and work from there. A little complicated, but there's a lot of control to be had there.
I always use the reverb this way in all my mixes. Tell us more about the Splitter. I’m especially curious about using it as an alternative to a stereo track.
I've just started getting into recording and your videos have been a ton of help, so thank you guys. One question. Does the send run parallel to the inserts or is it in series after the inserts?
Hey Greg ! Will there ever be a paning feature on splitt fx? I was trying to create a multi LCR reverb but it goes only full left or right... No center.... Thought that would be a really cool feature!
I use VCA channels for turning up or down the volume of all the channels/tracks or just a few (once I have the levels right) as opposed to one fader at a time. Try it. Select all the tracks and right click adding (on Windows) a VCA bus. Move the red button up or down. It affects the whole mix.
Hi Gregor. Any advice on using an Aux channel vs an FX + Pipeline for external reverbs? I'm currently using FX channel + Pipeline but read that people use Aux channels a lot too. Thanks.
Hey Gregor, great Video! I LOVE the splitter !!! Studio One is really amazing and I love how easy it is to add and change shortcuts. BUT, there is one really annoying thing and I want to ask if there is a "pref" or something to "fix" this. In almost every app on the planet "dragging with the mouse" moves objects and "dragging + alt" copys objects. But with plug In slots in S1 it is exact the opposite of what you will expect. "dragging" = coping and "dragging + alt" = moving. Can I change this behavior? Please give all the people who are new to S1 the chance to use this as expected. :) Thanx a lot !!!
Why I can’t send a fx track in another fx track? For sending a delay into a reverb for example! Therefore I’ve to use bus tracks, that’s really strange.
Is it just me, or does Gregor seem to have a different haircut in every video he does? 😂 Another excellent video where simple but frequently misunderstood features in Studio One are explained in a clear and concise way. 👍🏻
Splitter would be perfect if I could also feed a bit of one channel into another, for instance a dry, delay, and reverb, then have a bit of the delay go into the reverb as well
@@presonus Sorry, part of my post somehow got lost in the eather. I was meaning to say that sends are much like a splitter that acts as a splitter that creates another channel.
I hope presonus didn't have to re-org their employees since fender took over.. I've noticed Gregor and Joe have stopped saying " With me.. Gregor from Presonus " or " Hey it's Joe from presonus "..
Haha, don't worry! :) My line has always been either "This is Gregor from PreSonus" or "Studio One with me, Gregor". I still use both frequently. ;) -GBY
Thank you Gregor. You continue to help the Studio One community get smarter faster.

Gregor is a real gentlemen and a sage. Thanks for sharing another great tutorial.
Once again, I learned some great short cuts. Thanks, Gregor!
Ahhh...Nice work! Thanks much Gregor!!!
You always explain things so clearly.
Thank you so much! -GBY
Gregor's videos are so excellent!

I appreciate your ability to explain the nuances of getting the pathways to really perform properly...🍸Thanks
Can you please make the splitter a proper plugin with the bypass button and all?
This video helped tremendously! Thanks Gregor.
I finally understood the difference 😅 ThankU!
Super helpful! Thanks so much
Am trying go gate my reverb to cut when I purse the song, but not getting it well...# for vocals#.. Will be happy if you help me understand that. 😊
As always your tutorial is very much appreciated

Do you mean, both ends of a split?

I would love to to see how creative and how technical you can get with splitters.

If I've got insert effects and a send on the same track, is the audio that's sent to the send processed by the inserts or no?
I've just started getting into recording and your videos have been a ton of help, so thank you guys.
One question. Does the send run parallel to the inserts or is it in series after the inserts?
Hi Bob, the signal gets sent after the inserts. -GBY

@Daniel Slabosky - That's the whole concept of a splitter. If you want to go down the center, why would you split?
@@dougburchfield7364 let's say I want thee different types of processing - one left, one center , and one right....
Great stuff brother

please, What kind of computer mouse do you use in your work? laser or optical?
Thank you gregor!
Hey Gregor, you forgot to mention that you should always set the fx "wet" value to 100% when using send effects.
Hi EvilCoopra, that's a good point - Although Studio One's Plugins will automatically set themselves to 100% wet when applied as Send FX. -GBY
Awesome! Thank you
Thanks Gregor ❤
Bitte, welche Art von Computermaus verwenden Sie bei Ihrer Arbeit? Laser oder optisch?

the only thing is missing in splitter - Sidechain
So basically, is basically the same as the splitter, only it creates another channel essentially making it a parallel processing chain.
The Splitter can also split between frequencies and left/right channel (even mid/side is possible). -GBY
