This is incredibly informative, thank you Gregor! I noticed that rendering an events-based mixdown doesn't take into account tempo automations, is a global render the only way to account for a tempo change? Thank you for your time!
Excellent video. Also, sir, can you do a video explaining why the master bus on the S1 console receives audio at -3db from the sourced channel? I'm somewhat assuming it has something to do with the pan law..
I think dragging midi event to audio track is also track base rendering. I did some experiments. channel settings, effects, bus track and fx track affects.
Thank you for these videos Gregor! Could you please explain the reason for this issue: when I bounce (render) the wave track (a vocal comp for example), it comes out a few dB lower in volume and you can also see it on the waveform as well. I have never experienced it with any other DAW. Thank you in advance!
Are these new changes because when i bounced to audio on to new track it used to bounce the audio with effects like if i added autotune on a vocal track and bounced it, it would bounce it the audio with autotune on to new track and kept it mono if it was mono , have things changed now?
Hello the quiet force! When I use Sample One and put a sample in it whose velocity I want to reduce for each note in the sample, I don't really notice any change at each pitch. It's only when I use Sample One with samples. Could I have a solution?
Question. Do you happen to know if we have recent information on Studio One Atmos integration? I am hearing it will be required on streaming platforms.
Been searching for an answer for this but can’t find it anywhere. Is there a workaround where I can export a bussed stem as if it were a track (utilizing entire signal chain processing). For context, I do drum tracking but not all clients want the hassle of mixing 4 separate snare tracks. So I send them to a single snare bus but then that snare bus also routes through my entire drum bus with additional processing on that. Is there a way I can render that snare bus that will include the entire drum bus processing as well?? Thanks for any help!!
Thanks for the video super helpful ,Im coming from Logic and find Studio One amazing..I have a question ,when I export a Channel and then bring it back in the session its off timing , That would be a big deal If I tried to send them to a mixer as Im always sending vocals that way
Freeze selected FX but not remove it from the channel, if need do some changes just unfreeze the plug and then freeze again. thats will be amazing feature for Studio One.
I have a question for Mr. Gregor! Does Studio One allow you to "fix" clips/loops that won't snap to the grid? Sometimes I grab a loop from Splice or somewhere, and it doesn't automatically adjust to fit the tempo... is this fixable? How?
I have an issue where when I use Mixdown Selection, the audio is printed with a very small delay (maybe like 10 ms). Is there any way to fix this? I can send a screen shot if you need. When I use Mixdown Selection on something that starts with a hard transient on the grid (a kick or something), and I zoom all the way in I can see that it's delayed. Sometimes it's 180 degrees out of phase with the original.
I find that after rendering a track and then converting back to audio there is some change in the audio (notably the volume) and on the clips in the time line. Some of them are greyed out. Why can it not just revert back to the original state?
I recently moved from ProTools to S1 and am glad I did. I've come to this tutorial because I just recorded 2 Guitar tracks, which I did a few 'edits' on to fix a few glitches...nothing new there. BUT when I used to do this in PT it was straight forward to just join all the different 'sections/events/region' clips on any track, and this would create a new audio file, I could then delete the unused sections to clean up the song folder. Now today, having done a few edits to both the guitar tracks, I "thought" I'd joined them into new single tracks, made up of the individual 'clip/event' sections on the track after the editing...BUT it seems that S1 didn't actually join them all up to create a new Audio file, but was still referencing the originals...Is this correct? I'll now watch Gregor and see how he explains it, because he's pretty good. It's just so weird t hat S1 seems to handle such a simple task in a not-so-simple way.
Hey all, sorry asking here, hope it's okay.. thanks for that vid, Gregor, makes the differend steps rendering/bouncing in S1 clear to understand, but I'm searching hours now to implement the following question, and can't help myself. I drop a short 2 second audio file in an audio track and insert a longer delay. After mixdown to a new track the effect is rendered but without the delay tail. The file is as long as the original and the delay is cutted off. Is there something I do not configured in the settings or is the proceeding I choose not right? Thanks! (using Studio One Version 4) [EDIT] Args, after posting I found "Track Transform" in the manual.. it does what I'm asking.. but is it also possible to keep the original track with inserts so we can quickly do multiple copies with different settings? [EDIT] Holy, using Event-FX, calculate, duplicate the event to a new track, undo the calculation, adjust the fx settings and repeat the steps is really nice and what I'm searching for!
I have to ask...(sorry just a quick off topic question) What track ball or mouse do you use Gregor? you are so fast navigating! I think I pick up some tips just as you sort of doodle with as you talk it's like the cursor is an extension of your thinking process.
Hi, I need help,please... Still new to studio one about a month in it now. and also a + memeber. Love the DAW. And starting to love all Presonus products as I get more into this. My problem is that I would like to render the inserts on one Track/channel. Not the whole routng etc. When I use Transform to rendered audio. It seems to work but my backtrack/instrumntal does not play anymore. Very weird to me...🙂🙂 I need to save my work close the song and reopen it again, then only the backtrack/instrumntal plays as weel as everything else. However when I use mixdown selction. It works great but it rendered/mixdowneverythingincluding inserts on bus/folde channels it was routed to. Do I have toswitch off alltheother inserts and processing before mixdownd selection? I would prefer it works with transform to rendered audio as it seems I can go back whenever I want to to previous state.
in the logicpro x , i had an option to bypass effect plugins and faders and panings , when wantet to bounce an instrument track to a wave track , here i didnt see this option ! , even the fader voulme affect the wave form, is there any way to bounce a flat track without affecting the plugins and effects ?
Hi Gregor, Please Help. I purchased S15 artist for one reason. I would like to take an acappella of any song and remix it on a instrumental of another song. I cannot find tutorial that clearly explains this.
S1 has so much great special functions for bouncing. But I can not find a simple function in S1 how to freeze or bounce or commit a buss/folder or an FX Channel ? Any Idea? I don't want to bounce all tracks inside a buss. I want to bounce the output of an Buss and then deactivate the tracks inside for a quitck CPU save. In ProTools this is so easy and simple. you can commit any track, instruments, busses, audio tracks and you get a rendered version of it without loosing the original. Is there any way to do this easy in S1?
So why not have one render command with checkboxes for dry, event processing, channel processing, bus processing, main processing. Instead of having to memorize all these individual behaviors. And if you select multiple tracks a check box for mix or separate.
Hello Gregor, thanks for the information - at times a bit condensed for me I have to admit! But a lot of food for thought and further exploration.. Question: lets say I have a track with a couple of virtual comp-takes which of which I have made a selection with which I'm happy and want to keep. Can I then render this "finalized" take so that it is then standalone and no longer needs the data from the v-takes? Thanks again, Peter
Tanks for the video. If I install the additional S1 content on my external drive....Do I need to reinstall it everytime I install S1 after a clean install of Windows or if something goes wrong and I need to remove and reinstall S1 pro? Will evrything, loops, instruments, ets work properly or do I need to point S1 where the content is, or do I have to reinstall everything everytime I need to do a fresh install?
I want to be able to bounce an event including the FX without having to port it to another track. Also, how do you mixdown to a new track IN MONO? I do Mixdown to new track in a mono track and it mixes down to a new track in stereo! Dude...
Hello Gregor......this is probably a simple setting somewhere, but how do you copy and paste an event so that it lands at the exact same location in the next beat or measure? I struggle with this consistently and not sure what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for everything you do for the S1 user community.
Gregor! .... thank you so much for your very nice helpful and informative videos. I learn a lot from them 😊🙏 A question.... why is there a quality difference bouncing a track or event real-time versus quick bounce. I can hear it and when comparing the tracks with phase invert the tracks are not cancelling each other meaning they are not the same? BRgs CJ
Hi Carl, that shouldn't be the case, although it is possible because certain plugins behave a little different when being rendered in real time vs offline. If you want to make sure that you're getting exactly what you're hearing, the best way to print is using a ghost output in my opinion: th-cam.com/video/e55ShTCxJDc/w-d-xo.html -GBY
Hello. I requested for ages ... it would be so good to have export wave and mp3 in the same time. A lot of daws have it. Pls consider this in the future.
I rendered down my stems. Closed the project and when I reopened it i couldn't figure out how to undo render because the "undo" reset. Is there a way i can undo render after closing a project and reopening?
Hi, the undo history clears when a project is reopened, so there is no way to restore it. You would have to delete the renders from the Mixdown folder manually. -GBY
I keep reading and watching this is still doesn't make any damn sense,. So what do I do if I want to bake the track effects into the audio? render or bounce? I've been bouncing to new track this one type, so have I been losing my FX???
Event FX are perfect for that, since they let you set the tail length in seconds. Alternatively, just extend the Part length before bouncing (keyboard shortcut "g" to be able to do so with Audio Events). Hope this helps. -GBY
On the song export, I'd really love to be able to export multiple formats in one pass. I usually need an MP3 and an AIF. Would be nice not to have to render twice.
There is - Use "Transform" for that. On Event FX, you can also set a tail before clicking "render". See attached screenshot: www.dropbox.com/s/un6vrhnlnr2yide/Screenshot%202021-01-26%20at%2019.30.50.png?dl=0 -GBY
Exporting mix and exporting stems shows one of the greatest weaknesses in S1. It permanently overwrites some user settings what costs a lot of time. And this is not a bug. This is an embarrassing mistake in the design of S1. An absolute nogo. I need to change the default settings once and then they have to be stored to the settings of the song.
Hi Maraboo, I'm not sure what you're talking about here. Your Export Mixdown / Export Stems settings are saved as soon as you save the Song - on a per Song basis. What you're saying here is not true. -GBY
@@presonus The only thing that is saved is the filename. It is not saved if I want to export a wav or mp3. It is not saved what sample rate I chose. Or better to say it is stored but at the wrong place. When I export a song as mp3 and want to export the next song as wav I have to change that because S1 stores that my last export was a mp3. I have always to overwrite the export directory because I do not want the export in the mixdown directory. When it comes to stems the same with the export directory. And I don't want a prefix but each and every time I have to delete that entry. And another thing is that there is no chance to overwrite the name of an export file. It is always the case as shown in the video that S1 creates a filename with a numer (mixdown to mixdown(8)). I must delete the older file before the export or if i forgot it I have to delete the older file and rename the new file manually. So when exporting it could be a good idea to have the choice to Create unique filename/Overwrite/Abort. S1 would not be the first program to offer that. I love to work with S1 but since Presonus is proud of the workflow it offers these things should be fixed. It costs a lot of time. And I am not the only one complaining about that. If you look into the request list in the forum you will find several entries to that topic.
I have only one question (Windows): how to hide render window after the process WITHOUT showing Windows Explorer window? It's very, very annoying to me :D I know about setting related with this, but as I know there are only two scenarios: or SO5 hides the render window and shows Window Explorer, or SO5 does not show Window Explorer, but the render window does not dissapear... Any ideas? :)
That's Mixdown Selection (it prints whatever you select, also from multiple tracks, to single audio) that he shows there. Unless you mean something else?
Hi Tx, you can print any channel to a Track by setting it as input on an Audio Track. If you want to print the Main Out onto an Audio Track, that's also possible! See this video HERE: th-cam.com/video/e55ShTCxJDc/w-d-xo.html -GBY
Hi...Im a long time ST1 but I really dissapointed with the phase issues compensation, that has bug on some plugins, rendering offline it doesn`t compensate and it causes phase issues... its a shame a DAW that uses high CPU with a such a basic operation not working properly
Hi!, I need to know how do I render tracks with inserts and sends to a new track or it can be the same track. All I need is that after the render the effects, sends and inserts is rendered/printed/burned in the track. Everything I do that showes in your video only render my inserts and not my sends, for example my reverb send is not there after the render but the delay used in the inserts is.
Hi Louie, the option you're looking for is called "Mixdown Selection" - this renders your selection onto a new Track, including all Effects. Hope this helps. -GBY

I think dragging midi event to audio track is also track base rendering.
I did some experiments. channel settings, effects, bus track and fx track affects.
Oh THATS what the differences are between these - this is useful info
Thank you for these videos Gregor! Could you please explain the reason for this issue: when I bounce (render) the wave track (a vocal comp for example), it comes out a few dB lower in volume and you can also see it on the waveform as well. I have never experienced it with any other DAW. Thank you in advance!
Clearly the volumes aren’t matched
Excellent and succinct guide to renders. 🌻
Thanks so much! -GBY
Are these new changes because when i bounced to audio on to new track it used to bounce the audio with effects like if i added autotune on a vocal track and bounced it, it would bounce it the audio with autotune on to new track and kept it mono if it was mono , have things changed now?
Awesome as usual. Thx Gregor!
Ok this is great! Now, how do we render stems with MixFX applied (crosstalk, noise, etc) to each stem?
Been searching for an answer for this but can’t find it anywhere. Is there a workaround where I can export a bussed stem as if it were a track (utilizing entire signal chain processing). For context, I do drum tracking but not all clients want the hassle of mixing 4 separate snare tracks. So I send them to a single snare bus but then that snare bus also routes through my entire drum bus with additional processing on that. Is there a way I can render that snare bus that will include the entire drum bus processing as well?? Thanks for any help!!
Hi, When Studio One mixdown take dithering in consider? what about this subject? How can avoid unwanted distortion on mixdown?
Why can it not just revert back to the original state?
had this question forever, haha.. finally.
It's just so weird t hat S1 seems to handle such a simple task in a not-so-simple way.
very very cool thank you gregor!
When you used mixdown selection using more than one track , does the mixed down track show which tracks have been mixed....if you get my meaning ;-)
Hey all, sorry asking here, hope it's okay.. thanks for that vid, Gregor, makes the differend steps rendering/bouncing
in S1 clear to understand, but I'm searching hours now to implement the following question, and can't help myself.
I drop a short 2 second audio file in an audio track and insert a longer delay. After mixdown to a new track
the effect is rendered but without the delay tail. The file is as long as the original and the delay is cutted off.
Is there something I do not configured in the settings or is the proceeding I choose not right? Thanks!
(using Studio One Version 4)
[EDIT]
Args, after posting I found "Track Transform" in the manual.. it does what I'm asking.. but is it also possible to keep the
original track with inserts so we can quickly do multiple copies with different settings?
[EDIT]
Holy, using Event-FX, calculate, duplicate the event to a new track, undo the calculation, adjust the fx settings and
repeat the steps is really nice and what I'm searching for!
Hi greg, is there a way to change and set the automation lane color from the default blue to another color as the default ?
please, you should allow the settings within transform tracks to be an argument within the macros.
Excellent, thanks!
I have to ask...(sorry just a quick off topic question) What track ball or mouse do you use Gregor? you are so fast navigating!
I think I pick up some tips just as you sort of doodle with as you talk it's like the cursor is an extension of your thinking process.
When I am exporting I am not getting exported sound same as I hear with monitor or headphone how can I get it as it I hear with real plugin effect?
I would prefer it works with transform to rendered audio as it seems I can go back whenever I want to to previous state.
in the logicpro x , i had an option to bypass effect plugins and faders and panings , when wantet to bounce an instrument track to a wave track , here i didnt see this option ! , even the fader voulme affect the wave form, is there any way to bounce a flat track without affecting the plugins and effects ?
i like this guy so much
I'm wondering is there a feature mixdown a clip with tail without render?
Why does my export sound so much different (not near as loud or good) from what I hear in the Project Page versus the exported file?
Should these various event renders work on all SO versions or just Pro? I'm currently using SO 5 Artist edition, not getting the same results
Hi Peter, yes that's possible. Simply select your takes / events, then press cmd+b (Mac) / ctrl+b (Windows). Voila! -GBY
If I export selection and im working in 32 but my export settings is 24 will it export in 24?
Tanks for the video. If I install the additional S1 content on my external drive....Do I need to reinstall it everytime I install S1 after a clean install of Windows or if something goes wrong and I need to remove and reinstall S1 pro? Will evrything, loops, instruments, ets work properly or do I need to point S1 where the content is, or do I have to reinstall everything everytime I need to do a fresh install?
Thank you
I want to be able to bounce an event including the FX without having to port it to another track. Also, how do you mixdown to a new track IN MONO? I do Mixdown to new track in a mono track and it mixes down to a new track in stereo! Dude...
So why are plugins on the master bus drastically slowing down event renders? Even on 6.6, at least on MacOS
Hello Gregor......this is probably a simple setting somewhere, but how do you copy and paste an event so that it lands at the exact same location in the next beat or measure? I struggle with this consistently and not sure what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for everything you do for the S1 user community.
Hi Tony, have you tried "Duplicate" (keyboard shortcut "D" by default)? Thanks for your kind words! -GBY
How do I export individual events with global or bus effects?
Gregor! .... thank you so much for your very nice helpful and informative videos.
If you want to make sure that you're getting exactly what you're hearing, the best way to print is using a ghost output in my opinion: th-cam.com/video/e55ShTCxJDc/w-d-xo.html
-GBY
Yes... that's what I do to be sure. Thank you for your quick response. / CJ
Hello. I requested for ages ... it would be so good to have export wave and mp3 in the same time. A lot of daws have it. Pls consider this in the future.
it's on the list. -GBY
Wäre schön, wenn es das Video auch in deutsch gäbe lieber Gregor Beyerle
What is the best block size to bounce my mix?
I'M SURE I'M GOING TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW
Did you? I know I did in under 3 minutes 👀
Hi, if you want to render in Track effects, then "Mixdown Selection" is the keyboard shortcut you're looking for. Hope this helps. -GBY
How to include audio fade outs like reverbs on events that sound longer than the actual event while bouncing?
Event FX are perfect for that, since they let you set the tail length in seconds.
Alternatively, just extend the Part length before bouncing (keyboard shortcut "g" to be able to do so with Audio Events). Hope this helps. -GBY
On the song export, I'd really love to be able to export multiple formats in one pass. I usually need an MP3 and an AIF. Would be nice not to have to render twice.
Absolutely agreed - That's on the list. -GBY
Please make this video with subtitles, as many are watching with translation
Is there a way to bounce clips with automatic tail detection so the bounce isn't cut off at the same length as the original clip?
There is - Use "Transform" for that. On Event FX, you can also set a tail before clicking "render". See attached screenshot: www.dropbox.com/s/un6vrhnlnr2yide/Screenshot%202021-01-26%20at%2019.30.50.png?dl=0

Where is the freeze bus/up to effect feature?
Can we render a bus track?
I have only one question (Windows): how to hide render window after the process WITHOUT showing Windows Explorer window? It's very, very annoying to me :D I know about setting related with this, but as I know there are only two scenarios: or SO5 hides the render window and shows Window Explorer, or SO5 does not show Window Explorer, but the render window does not dissapear... Any ideas? :)
That's correct, those are the two behaviors. I'll take note of this feature request, though! Thanks. -GBY
Need a video on how to print to track
That's Mixdown Selection (it prints whatever you select, also from multiple tracks, to single audio) that he shows there. Unless you mean something else?
Hi Tx, you can print any channel to a Track by setting it as input on an Audio Track. If you want to print the Main Out onto an Audio Track, that's also possible! See this video HERE: th-cam.com/video/e55ShTCxJDc/w-d-xo.html

How do you set up the mixer so that the fader is next to inserts rather than below them?
Hi Z, you want to click on the following two buttons: www.dropbox.com/s/kmpwmb84bu6r79h/Screen%20Shot%202021-04-19%20at%2011.00.44.png?dl=0

@@presonus thank you so much
Hi...Im a long time ST1 but I really dissapointed with the phase issues compensation, that has bug on some plugins, rendering offline it doesn`t compensate and it causes phase issues... its a shame a DAW that uses high CPU with a such a basic operation not working properly
KAZROG already disable the offline rendering of this plugins bacause it was....the PSP ones its the same
Hi!, I need to know how do I render tracks with inserts and sends to a new track or it can be the same track.
-GBY
@presonus thanks. So far so good. Looks like a great DAW, S1....😊
