    This is great, but what would make it more complete is if FOLDERS were included in the track export list so we could group tracks together without going down a complex routing rabbit hole. The solo-bounce method of exporting stems (that often include more than one track per stem) is still king, and allowing folders as track export options would finally allow this to be a completely automated process without doing careful planning of unique fx sends and such which is required when exporting bus groups as stems. Hope to see this addition in an eventual update!

      Yes this is exactly what i was thinking too. instead im having to do separate mixdowns for everything. I hope to see this in an update as well.

    • @Barncore
      @Barncore ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, this is the main problem with exporting stems. If you wanna export several deliverables for a client, and say you wanna send an instrumental, an acapella, and a stage version (instrumental with backup vocals but no lead vocals) you can't capture the entire signal flow of grouped elements with exporting tracks or channels (cos "export channel" doesn't include the buss(es) that are AFTER the bus you're exporting, and the "export track" method doesn't have busses/folders to choose from (which would solve it)... so you end having to do several entire mixdowns with various stuff muted or soloed. And you gotta sit and wait for to finish so you can begin the next export. It's tedious.
      Another way Presonus could fix it is to add an "export queue" feature, like what Reaper has

    Thank you so much for explaining this! It's been a mystery for a while. When you rendered and it said it had clipped... It would be amazing if there was an option to analyse the render before it happens to see which tracks/channels are clipping and even have an option to place a limiter on to stop the peaks. It's a big pain waiting for a render to find out that some are clipping then go in fix and render again. If there was the ability to get a read out pre render I think it would really speed workflow up.

      @@sultansmith yeah but will not allow you to export that stems as “Tracks”, they only allow you to export it as a Channel, and the problem with that is that you have to route the reverd and delays send FX to that Buss, and for someone that his workflow is not like that, is a mess to do that. Is more easy is they add the folder buss tracks in the “tracks” instead, cause at the end what this option doing is to Solo every channel and mixdown one by one, so this channel will sound wet. So why not to include the folder busses too?

    I have to do the bounces of the individual tracks, but they have to be exactly like when I hear a mixdown export.
    I know I should do export in stems, and select "Tracks".
    But in this way the effects that are inside the bus of the individual tracks and the bus automations are not exported. To do this I have to do a single bounce for each track. Isn't there a way to do a general bounce of every single stem, so that it sounds exactly like my mixdown?
    Very simply, I export the mixdown. Then I export my complete stems. And it's exactly the same. (Bus automations must not be missing)

    What happens if you have multiple channels sending to one FX Channel, let's say Reverb... Then, track exports make more sense right? Because you can't separate instruments when you export Channels. The Reverb channel will contain reverb for all your instruments and you cannot separate them.

    Is there a way to export individual tracks with the bus compression applied correctly? 'Channels' option doesn't include bus fx, and 'Tracks' option solos every track for export so the threshold is not met correctly, causing difference in levels. I find this quite annoying when sending backing vocal tracks to mix engineer who prefers to take the mix from where I left it at. Working with 50+ tracks of backing vocals, it's much more efficient to work on a backing vocals bus than individual tracks. I hope to find a way to properly export multi-tracks in situations like above!

      Here’s how I do this: I send the stem channel routings that I’m seeking to export to a new set of bus channels, which I’m specifically adding only for this purpose. These Buses don’t have any processing on them and don’t alter the mix in any way, they are really just for stem exports.
      I mark them clearly with names in CAPSLOCK to distinguish them from my “actual” Bus Channels.
      Once I have prepared export buses for all channels, all that’s left to do is a Stem Channel Export of every bus channel that’s written in capslock. :) it works amazing for me - I get the exact routings I want, and it’s a full parallel export, so it’s super fast, too. Perhaps this is something you could try out? -GBY

This thing drives whoever receives the file crazy and has to resynchronize everything. I use the same sample rate... what's wrong?

      Hi, you could consider creating a Bus where all channels that previously went to the Master are being routed to instead. Well, I just got off the remote session with a Presonus advisor. He wasn’t able to solve the annoying issues that I have exporting my project in both Track&Cannel mode unfortunately many of exported tracks had a leaks from another channel merge together i.e. the audio track of the groove had a reverberated vocal and so on. I never seen any thing like that, so the advisor. It should be a simple task exporting audio tracks w. FX or Dry jus by passing FX all this grouping and bussing is ridiculous. I hope you Presonus will make it easier and straight forward like I do in LogicProX or ProTools. All these non sense routing. Why not just simply export audio tracks in one go and with simple bypass FX or Wet. Sort but after the remote session I was told to group, bus even the FX (?) I’m going to try to do it this way. Not so thrilled with this bug. After all when exporting a session separated audio files I shouldn’t worry about this bleeding sound into track’s making it impossible to send out to whom ever.

    Simply put
    channel stems = 0 effects
    Tracks stems = effects.

  • @youowemeapony
    @youowemeapony ปีที่แล้ว

    Presonus seriously needs to re-evaluate their approach to exporting/freezing.
    A bypass master FX checkbox for exporting stems is so necessary. I tried to make a macro to select the master and bypass the effects on that channel, but GO FIGURE there’s no command to bypass all inserts on a selected channel. I can do it with one button from my faderport 8, but there is no option to include it in a macro. Only to disable ALL inserts session wide. Come on!
    Why can’t we have a commit feature like protools, or even better, a “transform folder/buss to audio” command. Just replace the folder content view with an audio waveform and disable and either hide or minimize the frozen tracks within the buss.
    Also, let us freeze a track to a certain plugin. Sometimes you have CPU heavy stuff you’re ready to print early in the chain. It’s such a PITA to have to export the track and have it import to the bottom of the session, then cutting that audio, reselecting the channel you bounced, making a new layer, naming it and pasting the audio to preserve the OG. All of this should be one step.

    • @presonus
      @presonus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your feedback! About your last point: Wouldn’t the existing command “Mixdown Selection” solve this issue in one step (other than this creating a new Track instead of a Track Layer)? -GBY

    • @youowemeapony
      @youowemeapony ปีที่แล้ว

      @@presonus Hey GBY!
      Mix down selection will still run through the master effects chain, and I still have to take the time to move that track to the correct spot in my session if it imports the track to the bottom of the track list.
      I just want the ability to freeze my busses (with or without channel FX, downstream FX/bussing/master FX, panning, automation, etc) and continue working in my already organized session, with the ability to revert back to tweak if necessary. This would be a game changer for studio one for audio mixers and sound designers.
      If I’m being honest, there needs to be more of a distinction between the artist and professional versions of studio one. The trend since 6 has been to simplify everything for songwriters, and audio mixers and sound designers seem to get the occasional treat or quality of life updates. I crave MUCH deeper options menus and customization. Give the pro’s the control we want and need. We don’t have to go full reaper, but there’s gotta be a middle ground.
      I would love to share some thoughts and suggestions with the Presonus team. I love studio one, and evangelize it to everyone, but there’s always room for improvement, and I really believe that S1 can be the best DAW out there with a few new features.
      Seems like it’s pretty clear that the nomenclature and processes for exporting audio are way too convoluted, if nothing else. The comments here kinda speak for themselves.
