something extraneous to note: azathioprine and 6-mercaptopurine (which was mentioned in the purine synthesis video i believe) is metabolized and made inactive by xanthine oxidase. in a question, if a patient is taking those medications and is also given allopurinol to perhaps help their gout, then you run of risk of azathioprine/6MP toxicity/buildup
Dirty come thruuuu!!! You're the light at the end of the dark, dark tunnel called obscure med school topics. Thank you for everything that you do, i love you!!!! ♡
If are wondering how AMP is linked to this reaction , IMP can be converted to AMP and GMP. AMP is converted to its nucleoside Adenosine, and adenosine is then converted to Inosine by Adenosine deaminase hence salvaging AMP. Adenosine deaminase deficiency is the major cause of autosomal recessive severe combined immunodeficiency
Great video, although I think that especially ADA deficiency-SCID and to a lesser extent cladribine-pentostatin (hairy cell leukemia) are also quite high yield!

Is your biochemistry playlist tailored to a specific order or I should go in the order I see appropriate?

Awesome teaching, Alway the BEST. Thank you. God bless you for teaching and sharing ❤❤❤❤❤
I wish you would have talked about SCID and adenosine deaminase as well
After giving allupurinol or Febuxostat, What would happen to the excess free bases in our body?
Thank you so much for the third time ❤
