Thank you Sir from the bottom of my heart from the bottom of my heart to be so hugely helpful and impactful in student studies. I am a big fan. I am in a financial truffle right now because as you know the MLE's are very expansive especially for foreign graduates. But once I am stable enough I will definitely be providing support. Thank you Sir and please keep up this going because you might be having no idea how much helpful this is for foreign graduates who's trying to save every penny to finally be able to give this exam and your free channel is a huge impact because it doesn't drain them financially while providing excellent top notch content for free. I have the utmost RESPECT for the services that you are providing!
another cool way i learn to remember which has hepatosplenomegaly in Niemann - pick dx and Tay- sac is the follow: Think about the first word as liver and the second word as spleen. Tay- sac = both short words = no hepatosplenomegaly Niemann - Pick = long first word and second word = hepatosplenomegaly
if you aren't familiar with pokemon this is the one I came up with "sulfur has a really meta color" sulfur for arylSULFatase and cerebroside SULFATE. meta means you have to think a lot about it = CNS defects. and Color to remember that the nerves stain yellow brown. :)
Tysm ❤ i was mixing up the enzymes for fabry and krabbe as both have the galaxy reference but then i added "bro" at the end of krabbe's mnemonic. "The Glob of GOOey Krabbe meat is out of this world, bro" Fabry: galaxy without "bro" for Alpha galactosidase Krabbe: "this world, bro" for GALACtocereBROsidase hope this helps someone
I am very thankful and grateful for all of your hard efforts! I was literally a biochemistry hater at medical school! But you made me love it I swear! You saved my study and my time! Huge thanks Dirty Medicine!
Thank you very much, that's gold! For non-pokemoners, I attempted to make a Game of Thrones mnemonics: Arya's brain was catastrophic: demyelinated, dementious and ataxic Arya for ARYLSULFATASE, brain for cerebrum i.e. CEREBROSIDE SULFATE, catasTROPHIC for the metachromatic leukodysTROPHY, the rest are the symptoms (all three remind of problems related to brain). Am open for better mnemonics ;)
Thank you thank you thank you so much preparing for my MRCP part one examination and this has been absolutely absolutely very very helpful because I have the preparation time for only 1.5 months and all I do is log into your videos and note them down and like I said it’s absolutely game changing!!!!!
Your videos and mnemonics have gotten me a handful of points on every test I have taken in medical school. You’re the man, Dirty! Keep up the good work!
This is amazing!! Small thing but I found it a little tricky to differentiate the enzyme/accumulations for Gaucher vs Krabbe so for Gaucher I just added "sweet bro" to remind myself of the 'gluco' in glucocerebrosidase: OMGauch ... he is such a sweet bro
There was a "high yield question bank" question about the treatment of Gauchers. It's just exogenous glucocerebrosidase Also, I use "Hunters have clear I's 2 shoot" for the hunters.
I cannnot begin to quantify how helpful these Dirty Medicine mnemonics are, the information just sticks in your brain after he teaches. Then you go read the chapters in the books and further consolidate. Thank you very much.
Spring-boarding off your Tay-Sach mnemonic, I just wanted to connect it to the dz name - so I made the gang a bit more aggressive (and apparently cruel): "A Gang of Six small Jews kicked me in the Sach" Happy studying everyone

the Krabbe disease mnemonic word "world" for "gala-" might get confused with "gala-" in Fabry disease also. I'd like to add that globoid cells look kind of like a brain (galacto-cerebro-sidase)
Great update - i was wondering how i was going to remember the clinical presentation of these diseases. Thank you! About to go look up a clip of Metapod Pokemon right now :)

12:11 since my school is testing us on I-cell disease, maybe we can throw this in as well: "I-cell" is hyphenated, therefore it causes cherry-red spot on macula. Also a Hunter uses his Eye to aim and hunt Zebras (lamellated zebra bodies in lysosomes), so "Eye-cell" is "Hunter-like" (technically it's pseudo-Hurler, but transitive property says it is therefore pseudo-Hunter). Since this pseudo-hunter probably lives a healthy lifestyle, we won't find weird stuff in his urine (no GAG in urine vs. Hurler/Hunter).
