My goal is to reduce educational disparities by making education FREE.
These videos help you score extra points on medical school exams (USMLE, COMLEX, etc.)
For educational purposes only; NOT medical or other advice.
Some videos contain mild profanity and hyperbole solely used to assist with memorization. Viewer discretion advised.
Opinions are entirely my own.
He killed it with that Metapod reference; i will never forget this easily forgettable disease; thank your Sir DIrty
단데기!
Thank you for the update! That metapod mnemonic is absolute GOLD. One more thing for everyone else: all the diseases mentioned have autosomal recessive inheritance, except for Fabry disease and Hunter syndrome, which have X-linked recessive inheritance.
THANKS!
Thanks
Hunter was wearing a FAbulous Bra
@@sagarsaga00 😂 nice one
Fabry Hunter = Family HisTory = FHx
use me as a im worried about step but dirty relieves my anxiety button
Dirty is saving my mental health!!!
That sounds like some mnemonic haha!
another cool way i learn to remember which has hepatosplenomegaly in Niemann - pick dx and Tay- sac is the follow:
Think about the first word as liver and the second word as spleen.
Tay- sac = both short words = no hepatosplenomegaly
Niemann - Pick = long first word and second word = hepatosplenomegaly
MET ARYL BROken DAD(met a real broken dad)
MET - metachromatic leukodystrophy
ARYL - arysulfatase A def
BROken - cereBROside sulfate acc
D - demyelination central + peripheral
A - ataxia
D - dementia
thanks alot for this, i never didn't know much about pokemon so this works!
Just watched the old one yesterday but don’t mind watching it again my king
My study partner and I were literally talking about adding clinical finding mnemonics to your awesome video when I saw this update. Perfection!
Thank you Sir from the bottom of my heart from the bottom of my heart to be so hugely helpful and impactful in student studies. I am a big fan. I am in a financial truffle right now because as you know the MLE's are very expansive especially for foreign graduates. But once I am stable enough I will definitely be providing support. Thank you Sir and please keep up this going because you might be having no idea how much helpful this is for foreign graduates who's trying to save every penny to finally be able to give this exam and your free channel is a huge impact because it doesn't drain them financially while providing excellent top notch content for free. I have the utmost RESPECT for the services that you are providing!
Your videos and mnemonics have gotten me a handful of points on every test I have taken in medical school. You’re the man, Dirty! Keep up the good work!
I am signing up! Because honestly you are the best! 4.99 that a starbucks latte
Thank you for being a Dirty Medicine member!
Check this cool person out!
Wish starbucks was that cheap here xD
the old video is the 1st vid i watched on ur channel a few weeks ago!! thanks for updating!
I cannnot begin to quantify how helpful these Dirty Medicine mnemonics are, the information just sticks in your brain after he teaches. Then you go read the chapters in the books and further consolidate. Thank you very much.
God bless you doc 🙏 You have been so helpful to thousands of IMG. English Guyana/ Cuba Havana medical graduate !
Bro is a 🐐. Just discovered the channel. I’m boutta binge all ur vids thank you
Great update - i was wondering how i was going to remember the clinical presentation of these diseases. Thank you! About to go look up a clip of Metapod Pokemon right now :)
One of the best! Thank you for helping me to memorize these diseases.
Spring-boarding off your Tay-Sach mnemonic, I just wanted to connect it to the dz name - so I made the gang a bit more aggressive (and apparently cruel):
"A Gang of Six small Jews kicked me in the Sach"
Happy studying everyone
😊
You will be the reason I even have a chance sitting for boards. Thanks Dirty!
Much appreciated, Dirty!
The best of all time. Absolutely genius! 🎯
The hyphen detail is brilliant thank uuuu for ever 🙏
Thank you very much, that's gold!
For non-pokemoners, I attempted to make a Game of Thrones mnemonics:
Arya's brain was catastrophic: demyelinated, dementious and ataxic
Arya for ARYLSULFATASE, brain for cerebrum i.e. CEREBROSIDE SULFATE, catasTROPHIC for the metachromatic leukodysTROPHY, the rest are the symptoms (all three remind of problems related to brain).
Am open for better mnemonics ;)
Thanks for the mnemonic , I modified it slightly: Arya’s cerebrum has Catastropic ADD-A-Ataxic, Demylinated, Dementious
Thankyou, your videos are life-savers.
Awesome!! Thank you sooooo much. Crazy crazy helpful!! Suggestion: Try "(in a crying voice) OMGauch, he's such a SWEET BRO" (sweet for "gluco")
Wow, thank you so much! God Bless!❤
Fantastic video (old and new both) !!! mnemonics really help in memorizing the details. Thank you so much :D
There was a "high yield question bank" question about the treatment of Gauchers. It's just exogenous glucocerebrosidase
Also, I use "Hunters have clear I's 2 shoot" for the hunters.
THANKS!
Tysm ❤ i was mixing up the enzymes for fabry and krabbe as both have the galaxy reference but then i added "bro" at the end of krabbe's mnemonic. "The Glob of GOOey Krabbe meat is out of this world, bro"
Fabry: galaxy without "bro" for Alpha galactosidase
Krabbe: "this world,bro" for GALACtocereBROsidase
hope this helps someone
It does help , thanks!!
i was looking for this, thanks man
Glad it helped someone ^^ hope u guys do well
if you aren't familiar with pokemon this is the one I came up with "sulfur has a really meta color" sulfur for arylSULFatase and cerebroside SULFATE. meta means you have to think a lot about it = CNS defects. and Color to remember that the nerves stain yellow brown. :)
Thank you, Dirty!!!!!! Great take on Metapod reference!!!!!!!!
You are an amazingly cool teacher!! I love your style!
thank you for making biochemistry bearable
Not familiar with Pokemon but I now feel like I know all about Metapod! Thanks!
Thank you so much for the videos. X marks the spot for the aggressive hunter
Simply the best !! Thank you
😂
Hey, thank you for all you do :)
Huge thanks as always sir..
you are seriously the best.
Yes I love u and I used all your videos for step 1 and now step 2
Can you please make a video explaining the ventilator settings/ waveforms? Thanks
awesome video thanks so much!.. for gaucher.. OMG he's such a SWEET bro (to remind u its glucocerbro).. since a bunch of them have BRO in the name! again, thanks for all of your videos
tats the exact addition I was using toooo..... coincidence? XD XD
Hey dirty can you plz make a video on glut receptors ...if possible than 🙏
Life saver!! Thankyouuu
3:06 Where the video actually starts.
Guys please help this guy as much as u can. he is a gift to all medicos anywhere in the world
This video made me join your channel! You're amazing dirty!
I made a mnemonic "HUNT FOX" - Hunt for hunter and F for Fabry - X for xlinked recessive :) . The remaining are AR.
So glad I waited until a week before my test to care about these so I could learn them from this video :)
Great minds think alike
@@ryanbrown9017 i KNEW someone i knew would come find me on here hahaha.......miss you!!! best of luck!
@@bananaphone16 Good luck next week!
Good luck to both of you
PS caps stink
this is unreal your the GOAT
So happy! Thank you!
Thanks for being a Dirty Medicine member!
for those who never really got into pokémon i have for you: clumsy cerebrities ride real sulfurous & dented metallic chrome cars.
clumsy=ataxia
cerebrities ride=cerebroside sulfate
real sulfurous=arylsulfatase A
dented=dement/demyelin
metallic chrome=metachromatic leukodystrophy
you can imagine some old clumsy celebrity driving a car that's just as old and clunky as them (or picture a scene out of Mad Max if you at least get that pop culture reference)
the Krabbe disease mnemonic word "world" for "gala-" might get confused with "gala-" in Fabry disease also.
I'd like to add that globoid cells look kind of like a brain (galacto-cerebro-sidase)
Your mnemonics are also high yield can't be forgotten
This is amazing!! Small thing but I found it a little tricky to differentiate the enzyme/accumulations for Gaucher vs Krabbe so for Gaucher I just added "sweet bro" to remind myself of the 'gluco' in glucocerebrosidase: OMGauch ... he is such a sweet bro
thanks my bro:)
Thank you
Once you get me to residency with these videos I will be a member lol
Thank you for the brilliant and funny video 😁
'Thank you~!!
OMG, you saved my day!
Thank you so much! I didn't know I could laugh while studying this topic :') The pokemon reference was amazing. "He can literally only say his name." Ded.
I don't know anything about pokemon except pikachu, but that Metapod mnemonic is great.
Thank You
Shukriya Ustad G
U deserve to be supported 👏
Thanks!
I was just watching the old lysosomal storage disease video, such a coincidence!
In First AID 2022, Huler Syndrome is listed as having a α-l-iduronidase deficiency. You have alpha-2-iduronitase listed. Are both of these enzymes correct, or did you make a typo?
Sadly am not sure about others... but no one will forget Metapod in Metachormatic leukodystrophy
You are a legend!
Had to pause this video to watch every single episode of Pokémon before continuing with the lesson. For science!
Oml I adored the metapod mnemonic :)
BRUH JUST LET ME PASS MY BOARDS AND I WILL FUCKING JOIN UR MEMBERSHIP
You've been a great help to me and I wish that every high yield concept appears in our boards.
I love you, little one.
Greetings from the DR.
That metapod mnemonic would make butterfree proud!
Thanks
Thank you for being a Dirty Medicine member!
Since Gaucher's and Metachromatic Leukodystrophy both have just BRO for the accumilation, one way to remember meta is Cerebroside *SULFATE*, just imagine a shiny metapod and pretend it is close enough to the color of sulfur
ur the goat man
for the people that do not know much about Pokémon :
“Leuk at me! I’m aryl broken man”
Leuk & me - metachromatic leucodystrophy
Aryl = Arylsulphatase A
Broken = cerebroside sulphate
Man = DeMENtia
another hook-on is Gauche - Paper Mache - tissue paper cytoplasm.
Is it supposted to be be hyper or hypohiderosis in fabry disease?
Edit: most often hypo and sometimes hyper.
Yay *dances in high yield* lolol
The Globoid KRABBE is out of this Big Galaxy Bro.
literally googled Metapod's evolution after finished this.
Can you do a video on the different types of spondyloarthropathies?
Thank you for being a Dirty Medicine member!
@@DirtyMedicine happy to support the channel! I’m a second year med student about to start dedicated for step 1, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without these videos.
Thank you. I added "Oh My Gauch, hes such a Sweet Bro" to remember its Glucocerebroside, cause all the others with bro confuse me lol. I has smooth brain
Tnx🎉❤
OMG!!!(crying)
thank you for all these high-yield mnemonics!!
here i want to share some modification with you guys
"the GLOB of KRABBE meat is Out Of this GALCTY(galaxy)"
u r the best
Bruh went in on metapod! Like damn 😂😂😂
HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! I just reached Metachromatic part and im dying at the reference! sooooo accurate!
Yayyyyyy!! Ecstatic
Thankssssssss !!!!!!!!
Hey, U can use for " Krabbe disease" : CRAB with MILK sauce, BRO, is really GOOD ;)
metapod used harden!
it is super effective
Great video! Gonna extend the Tay Sach's one into "A Gang of Six Small Jews eating Tay-ter tots and Onion rings with Red ketchup"
Waiting!
12:11 since my school is testing us on I-cell disease, maybe we can throw this in as well:
"I-cell" is hyphenated, therefore it causes cherry-red spot on macula.
Also a Hunter uses his Eye to aim and hunt Zebras (lamellated zebra bodies in lysosomes), so "Eye-cell" is "Hunter-like" (technically it's pseudo-Hurler, but transitive property says it is therefore pseudo-Hunter). Since this pseudo-hunter probably lives a healthy lifestyle, we won't find weird stuff in his urine (no GAG in urine vs. Hurler/Hunter).
Wow the best ever
my hero
heres a mnemonic for 'HURLER" syndrome.
H: Hepatosplenomegaly (enlarged liver and spleen)
U: Upper airway obstruction
R: Rough or coarse facial features (skeletal anomalies)
L: Learning difficulties (developmental delay)
E: Enzyme deficiency (alpha-L-iduronidase)
R: Retinal abnormality(corneal clouding)
Gold! Thank u so much!! When i get into residency i will pay back all you have given me!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
hey just be a good doctor to your patients, thats all I/we need
