After someone pointed out a flaw in the infra red heat gun testing, i thought i better get some ideas on things to compare and check on the Ali Express brakes before they get fitted. If there is anything you would like weight, measure or compared on them before they get fitted please let us know in the comments down below.
Update November 2021: So after a bit of hassle from the set ordered from Aliexpress. I have been in touch with dickase directly through here, the latest version of their brakes are so much better than these were. Shoot an enquiry through here if you are looking to get a set. Check and see if the pistons are stainless or another type of alloy, should give u a good idea of the quality n how long they will last, would say check the seals but ur never really going to no unless u send them off! U can get rebuild kits for the original brembos would be interesting to see if these are of good as quality!
imo, fundamentally the purpose of a BBK is to address the shortcomings of using standard braking system when using the car in a way it wasn’t designed, such as at a race track. Standard brakes will boil their fluid after numerous repeated braking applications. Rotors that are too small get overheated and warp. Brake pads with street compounds will glaze over and/or catch fire. The stopping distance is a function of tire compound and brake pad compound, that’s actually all that matters for 1 braking application. Everything else in a BBK is to handle doing that for an hour and still have brake pads, straight rotors, caliper seals that aren’t melted/leaking and brake fluid that hasn’t boiled into a gas.
One last thing about braking systems, you want to tune them for their operating temperature. We know that cold brakes don’t stop well, and too hot brakes will fade, this naturally defines a temperature range that works well. Choosing a pad that heats up quickly has great performance on cold rotors (street). Pads that stop great at high temps will be like having no brakes when they are less than 200F. And for rotors the less massive they are the quicker they get up to temp, but also may overheat. A thicker more massive rotor will absorb more energy before they overheat, but they will take more time to get up to temperature.

Rotors: thickness, diameter, number of vanes, vanes direction, contact area (can be calculated from pad dimensions)
Pads: height, length, thickness, area

Man, this kit was a bit iffy and at first it was a nightmare to sort out. However over the last 2 years, i have spent a lot of time talking with dickase and i have a good relationship with them. I really do think product is great. This set is 2 years old now and does stops from 200kmh nearly everytime the car is out. I still have the entry level pads in them expecting them to have warn out by now but they havent. I also have another set on my other car now with the race pads and they feel better again. Make sure to mention zeroto60 when you buy them and you will get looked after. They wont treat you like a normal customer.

Id take a good look at the hose routing and note where it comes closest to sharp edges or moving parts. Aftermarket hoses are often missing abutment or pin alignment features so its possible to not center them in the available clear space. Move the wheel from lock to lock and on max bump and rebound. This will give you reference points to recheck when you mount the new stuff in. Spring armouring is used when "normal" clearances can't be achieved. It's worth checking on any car that's been modified beyond factory limits for ride height and tyre size as both can take away space the brake line was using. Peace of mind for an extra 5 min work..

Thickness of the rotors and pads before and after, you will be able to see if the wear is even or not. Might be a good idea to check if the rotors are warped before installation for quality check. Thank you for the useful contents keep up the good work !!!!

Check to see if the piston dust covers have a genuine Brembo part number!
Also looking for that AliExpress link......I actually live in Hong Kong should be a lot cheaper to ship here.you should also look into swapping your old head unit and retro fit a new android unit in there ....then you can have the jb4 running on that head unit .
The rotors could be 380/32 in the front and 355/30 back, or how big are they?
Weight difference of calipers
I know this will be hard. I know you have 19” rims. Do you have a 18” rim somewhere to see if a 18” would fit with your 380mm? Tall ask i know
I can definitely do that. I have some genuine 18s here i was gonna use for track tyres, so no problem.
Will they fit 18” wheel Can you show if any warpage / running true with dial indicator fitted to lower arm/Caliper new and old ? Various positions 1/1000 inch acceptable? What you thinking ?New bearings while your on with it ? New suspension arms ? 3or 4 150mph emergency stops show differences. If you can feel your internal organs moving around then they’re OKAY ;) ;) Hope the result is good as I intend to follow suit Hot in UK now mine totally faded out after 10 miles spirited driving on backroads Sweaty Sock division Ha Ha
one more thing as far as comparisons go maybe you should of measured the stoping distance from 100 to zero for the stock then the new kit, in any event great work
I do actually have all the distances from testing the stock setup. We were not stressing the stock brakes in that test, but i really wanted to make sure the new brakes dont effect the ABS system in a negative way.
brand / type of old pads ?
I run Remsa and im very happy with them :) I'm a fan of ferodo pads too.
Once these are done (assuming I do wear them out) I will probably run Ferodo.

Yeah, we started using them on the race team in 2014, then selling them in 2015. Bloody expensive, which some people don't like, but they are the best tyre available to the public.
Does the pads have to be from the big break suppliers ie. Ali express or is there a brand that fits off the shelf in America or the UK or do we need to keep going back ali express to buy new set? Please help
Brembo GT6 and GT4 oe pads fit. So heaps of options.

I want to know how small your head is. Holding that caliper made it seem quite small. Compare the two in the next video. 😂
Your ABS is kicking in on the stock brakes, meaning you are at the limit of your tyres not your brakes. Aside from cooling efficiency you wont gain much in regards to stopping distances IMO. Either way! They will look awesome 👌 😎
I tried to touch on it in the reveal video, i completely agree, I don't think the stock brakes are bad by any means and that new pads, rotors and lines would have been the smart thing to do........ This was purely a looks upgrade and also fulfilling my curiosity on the cheap china kits. I did the 100-0 tests to make sure that the new brakes don't mess with the ABS, so that if performing an emergency stop on the street, these china kits are at least as good as the stock ones.
@@ZeroTo60Tube I completely get it! I'll be honest having brakes that huge and pretty behind those beautiful 666m wheels will totally set that car off! I'd be happy with the videos if you just filmed 20mins of different angels of the car and wheels 😂 but the in depth tests work well to.

Brakes are still ok, something happened to left rear caliper, well its now fouling on the disc hat. For the money they cost, and how dodgey the suppliers are, they are hard to recommend. If you have access to a machine shop and can get fitment perfect, thats another matter.

Once I know how they handle this fitment issue I may. But I can confirm none of the Ali sellers have proper 335i fitment info.
