It's insane that even after all these years and playing all the Batman Arkham games multiple times I'm still learning new things about it. This just proves that the Batman Arkham games are one of if not the best solo games in the world.
My personal favorite little secret: if you use the special combo batclaw attack on an armored brute, it will take them down instantly even at full health
@@RigaTony7 In Arkham Knight, it's Special Batclaw Takedown. In City and Origins, it doesn't have a name. But the upgrade required for it is Freeflow Focus Gadgets. Both upgrades involve the same thing, but only Knight has a special animation for it.
Healing Grundy is even useful during the first two phases, as it prevents him activating the machine to heal himself, allowing you easy access to all weak points without having to wait for an opening.
Slamming the knocked out thugs in number 9 may not look useful, but I figured this out on my own while doing AR challenges and it is actually useful for extending your combo and giving you time to think about your next move mid-combat without losing your combo (you can't get hit while doing the slam!)
It also helps if you weren't expecting a strike to knock out an enemy. If you knock them down, that slam move might save you from messing up your combo. Though, in my experience, pressing the pick-up buttons without there being a valid target is usually safe so long as you don't spend too long on it.
So like the batclaw where everyone kinda stops attacking the moment you activate it? I wish the slam mechanic worked on my ps4 though. 😢 it just works when it feels like it.
@luisgabrielayala6372 yes, and I believe it works on all platforms you just have to time it (I played on both PC and PS4). You only have around half a second to do it right after knocking out a thug.
Another mechanic that's never really mentioned to my knowledge is that if you hold the grapple button as you grapple you'll hang from the ledge that you grappled to. I've been playing these games for years and never could understand why sometimes id hang and sometimes I would climb up, and so I never utilized the ledge takedowns for that reason.
@RDSC_ I always thought it was hold down on the left stick too, but maybe it's by game. In knight you have to hold the rb/ r1 button. I haven't tested in city or asylum. I just know that holding the grapple button works the most consistently that I've seen. Holding down the left trigger more times than not would still have me climb up.
One I find incredibly useful in knight is that you can use the forensic batmobile scanner you use to track the Arkham Knight's cobra tank as a detective mode of sorts in the Batmobile, allowing you to see the cobra tanks through the walls when you're hiding from them. Not sure how common this trick was but I never saw anyone use it after they tracked the tires in the main story, so

Okay, you can only action cam grapple between dedicated (green reticle) vantage points. However, if you do this in or out of a pass-through grate it looks insanely cool. Make sure to hold right trigger the whole time while going up. Glide kick reversal does not work in Asylum, but it gave me action cam almost every time no matter what I did first
Also a cool mechanic for the batclaw is that if you use the batclaw on a brute (with the super combo batclaw upgrade equipped) it can one shot them! Also if you use it on a brute without the upgrade, he will go spinning and knock any thug by him unconscious/stunned!
I doubt any game or series of games will ever be better than this for me. This is truly the peak. From lore/story (omg, the story) and the voice-acting, over the gameplay to the smallest details 95% of the players will never even encounter, even in multiple play-throughs, put in there for the mega fanatics and just because. Another secret mechanic is the drop attack takedown from arkham origins (maybe arkham city) which when pressing inverted takedown and drop attack at the same time, you're able to do a cinematic drop attack which instantly renders them unconcious and enemy's aren't notified. Great video btw

Fun fact, using the freeze blast quick fire in Arkham Knight makes Brutes vulnerable to be attacked meaning you can chain hits with Brutes without having to stun them and go into a beatdown so long as you freeze them first. Have fun!
I was playing Arkham City earlier today and got the cinematic mode to happen while using a grapple in the museum. I remembered thinking I’d never seen that before. This explains everything. Awesome!
One hidden combat feature not listed in this video is Red Hood's ability to Beatdown from a distance; first stun a medium-long range enemy with your quickfire flashbang grenade, then spam Strike to have him rapid fire his pistols in a really cool animation. The range of this move is actually crazy far too 😅
Another cool thing about the punch drop attack is that its the pose Batman pulls on the cover of the Dark Knight Returns. Making for some hard af photo opps
#5 really ought to have been highlighted more by the game itself. The system needed more freedom like this and cancels like the batclaw with ground takedown.
Idk if this is a hidden mechanic but one thing I love to do is if Im using my grappling hook to reach a vantage point or swing from vantage point to vantage point and I press the cancel button mid grapple/swing, and you press the glide button right after, you’ll start to glide at full speed as if you were using the grapnel boost! It works even if you don’t have the grapnel boost yet!!
You can target downed enemies with regular melee attacks in Arkham Knight by holding crouch and using the regular attack button. You can also pull enemies out of the air after a super stun launch by using the ground pickup input, they get snatched down into a stunned state. The batarang throw for batman and azrael can be used to dodge. Throwing freeze pellets at big enemies allows you to hit them normally without having to stun them first. Just a few things I've discovered
dont know if anyone else knew this but something i found was that when u play as jason if u quickfire the flash bang and spam the attack button youll almost get like a gun-beatdown its rlly cool
I know a cool mechanic with the ice grenade! First, if you use it on a brute, you can hit them normally without it being blocked! You have to do freeze grenade, strike, freeze grenade, strike, then after you could do an instant takedown to finish them off! You can also do this to shield and stun sticks enemies without getting hurt! Also if you freeze a thug, then use the batclaw or rec gun to get them unfrozen, they will fall down like a statue lol!
The secret drop attack is actually a reference to The Dark Knight Returns! It's also actually based on distance, meaning it can be done without ever going into a glide kick or drop if the thug is at the right distance.
Man I wish I knew about the ground takedown cancel mechanic sooner 😂 Years of playing the Arkham games over and over again, and getting hit while doing a ground takedown was always annoying 😂
One of my favourites is to start a fight using the running slide. You can usually knock down a handful of thugs and do combo attacks directly out of it.
Another mechanic that people don't know about in AK, is that you can use the Batmobile's scanner to reveal Cobra tanks behind walls, making these stealth sections incredibly easy. You don't even have to press it manually all the time, you press it once and it'll scan continuously. By the way, the redirected aerial attack is worse in Arkham Origins for some reason. After this attack, Batman will stay on the ground for like 2 more seconds to slam an enemy with his fists, which makes him extra vulnerable.
Even after 10 years of playing these games I am still, STILL finding new little hidden details that give me an exscuse to replay these games. God do I love the Arkham series.
Man, this video is insane! I have played these games a lot and seen a million clips on TH-cam, but never have I seen other creators implement any of these tactics.
One more: You can actually KO the brutes, like you do the normal enemies, who are weilding knives or who have no weapons using the freeze grenade. Just use them to freeze the brutes and attack them like you do the normal enemies.
Mechanic 7 I’ve had happen on occasion without realizing what the actual triggers for each variation was. It’s cool to finally know the 3 different triggers for this instead of blindly believing that it was RNG. Definitely will help streamline the gameplay into an even smoother experience in the future. Although let’s be real, Arkham knight plays pretty darn smooth on newer hardware.
Wow he really did use all your footage. I watched your video a week ago and was watching his video and had this Deja vu I couldn’t explain. Then I saw your post and came back to watch this one again. Incredible. That’s gotta be frustrating as hell.
Random bonus fact I found: you can actually use the disruptor on cobra tanks if you have the drone sabotage upgrade; meaning that when they spot the Batmobile, they’ll just self-destruct. This is only really useful during the founder’s island encounter as that’s the only time the tanks are spawned in before you enter the Batmobile but it’s interesting nonetheless
In knight, hitting an enemy with a freeze grenade will give you a very short window for a free silent takedown from the front, don't think it alerts enemies either
1:25 Actually you don't have to rotate the analog stick at all just press the same R2 button like you do for all the others and the camera will change to that view 6:23 It also works if you press the cape stun button. Batman will jump off one enemy and onto another whether you press the attack or cape stun button
No, you stun them and press spacebar/X/A two times as if you were doing the aerial attack on the shielded enemies, and press an attack button while directing Batman to a different enemy to do this move.
@@kacpernowak1535 While Batman's about to do the aerial attack all you gotta do is point the analog stick in the direction of the enemy you want Batman to leap onto and press the cape stun button or the attack button. It works with either one
After nearly 10 years, I still haven't discovered the effects of Remote Electrical Charge on vehicles and objects. Each Batman toy has something exciting that impacts the game world. I really appreciate the way players freely customize when using them and the developers are willing to provide interesting results for players. What a memorable experience with Batman and friends.
Correction: I knew about the cobra tank hack BECAUSE Rocksteady put that in the game. Just read up in the moves section. So yes, they told us, but most of us never bother to read stuff.
I didn't know about the Dropped Charged Attack and the different Batmobile calls despite the fact that, for the latter, I noticed different interactions that didn't stop the momentum of the car when engaging different sections or challenges. It's the little stuff... ;-)
My favorite game series of all time. By far. I recently came back to the Arkham trilogy for probably my 6-7th playthrough. Man they just don’t make games like these anymore and it’s a shame. Great video too, I didn’t know about a handful of these useful tips
Arkham Knight specifically nerfed the Batclaw to not do over ledge takedowns from the previous games BUT you can still pull enemies down from ladders if they're almost over the ledge
I played this games religiously and I’m shocked that I found SO many new mechanics I never knew of. I’m in disbelief and very impressed, you earned a subscriber
So I’ve been playin Arkham religiously for YEARS when starting this I really thought there’d be nothing new for me to learn or at least not all that valuable I’ll even say that there were a couple things I knew about but forgot like the rotating stick for a glide attack action shot but I gotta say you got me by surprise with one or two especially that last one holy shit 🤯
Something that isn’t really a mechanic but I found really helpful is that in the last Azreal challenge in Arkham night if you aim well enough and as soon as it starts you can freeze all of the ninjas with a cluster bomb and beat down most of them before they get free
Electricity mechanics is amazing. There is a quest of riddler. You need to use batarang through electricity, but you simply can use reg gun or smash by batmibile
Great video man, thank you. Also shows the level of creativity these guys have gone while making the game. They could just leave the normal attacks on, the game would still be fine, but they did pushed the bar and added the details that show their passion for what their project.
I'm actually impressed. Most of lists like this include things that anyone knows or at least should when they don't rush through the games. Especially if the list has equal number like 10. But this list actually has things that you can totally miss. Good job.
small tips for revisitors and new players: 1.cancel grapples to ledges to gain faster movement. 2.use quick gadgets in every fight, buttons vary per game. 3.evade alot in fights to keep the combo up, in asylum you can chain evades without losing combo meter. 4.you can open grates with the grapple gun, many riddle trophies even require this. 5.you move silently and faster than walking when crouching.
Learning the aerial attack switch up was SO useful for crowd control and keeping my combos going. I felt like a GOD when I discovered it on complete accident. Aside from the quick fire gadgets, that attack is soooo damn useful in tough crowded fights
My wife was playing Arkham Knight a couple of months ago and her hack-Cobra single-handedly taked down Deathstroke's tank! And she just chilled a near by
Next time u play Arkham Knight, cape stun a enemy with a baseball bat then press A+X and Batman will take it off him rather then picking it up from the ground.
In Arkham Origins the air attack is nerfed. If you change Batman's direction after launching himself on top of the enemy, he hits him again when he is on the ground, which makes him more successful in getting up and easier to hit.
Here's a mechanic for half the people who played Arkham Knight; you can use gadgets and do silent takedowns in encounters instead of fighting all the thugs.
In a similar vein to the drone virus, Cobra Tanks are also vunerable to the Disruptor as long as you have the updrage to sabotage drones; if you can get far enough out of range of them to get out of the Batmobile and stalk them from the rooftops. t's not as easy as the regular tanks, cause you need to target a small sensor on top to use the disruptor ammo, anywhere else is just tracker ammo, but if you can do it you can beat cobra tanks without the Batmobile.
Another great hidden mechanic, in at least Arkham Knight, is if while in combat you time your punches to get consistent critical strikes, the speed of Batman’s attack/animations slowly increases. But if you try punching too early, before he can actually go into the next punch, it starts slowing down again. This is great in the infinite combat challenges, like “Azrael's Atonement”.
Really glad u talked about mechanic #9 cause I found it the first time I played the game years ago and felt like a crazy person when I tried searching everywhere for a video that talks about it but to no success
Accidentally discovered the Action Shots while doing Predator Challenges in Asylum a couple of days ago. Immediately booted up City and noticed it also worked! Little stuff like that is why I still love these games

after years, something really new about Batman Arkham
I love finally learning that after all these years, I was using the hidden action shot feature on accident because I have fat fingers and would also spam RB for no reason (especially when swinging to different gargoyles in stealth sections)

I was actually gonna include that in my next hidden mechanics video lol
Great cheese combo
@@Knerd-YTretard
I discovered the last one by accident while goofing around with the random encounters- turning thugs into fainting goats is hilarious
this is a speedrun tactic for brutes in arkham knight by speedrunners without using the takedowns
The secret drop attack is actually a reference to The Dark Knight Returns! It's also actually based on distance, meaning it can be done without ever going into a glide kick or drop if the thug is at the right distance.
After all these years and you can still find amazing details. Great job highlighting this hidden mechanics. The Arkham series is truly the best!
Lol, the AO one actually makes sense. He's younger and inexperienced.
Your secrets remind me of the days I'd read something interesting in a gaming magazine and be excited to get home to try it myself. 😊
Even after 10 years of playing these games I am still, STILL finding new little hidden details that give me an exscuse to replay these games. God do I love the Arkham series.
Great video Knerd! It’s almost surprising how many “hidden” mechanics there are in the Arkham series lol.
Man, this video is insane! I have played these games a lot and seen a million clips on TH-cam, but never have I seen other creators implement any of these tactics.
The directed Aerial attack can be a curse in Arkham Origins if you're playing as Batman.
One more: You can actually KO the brutes, like you do the normal enemies, who are weilding knives or who have no weapons using the freeze grenade. Just use them to freeze the brutes and attack them like you do the normal enemies.
I consider myself a pro/expert at these games and even I learned a thing or two from this video! Well done!
I love when there’s actually one or two of these that I still didn’t know, or at least fully understand until now.
The gadget cinematic in Origins with the remote grapple is always fun. For Batman and Slade.
After all these years I'm still discovering stuff about the arkham series that shows how these games were ahead of their time amazing video knerd
The arkham games were way ahead of their time. Just when I thought knew everything about these games i still end up learning new things about them.
You can do this to the tanks when they come to destroy the GCPD and you're on the roof too
I have hundreds of hours with these games and had NO clue about any of these. Really cool. PLUS the comments with all the extra tips and tricks.
In knight, hitting an enemy with a freeze grenade will give you a very short window for a free silent takedown from the front, don't think it alerts enemies either
I came into this video thinking I'd hear mechanics I'm already aware of. Little did I know I was about to get stunned 😅. Thank you!
Fun Fact: the directed aerial attack is actually part of a Riddler physical challenge in Arkham City :)
i love this franchise. i literally just discovered that you can use the batclaw combo to knock down a brute
Dude I’ve seen dozens of videos about arkhams and they’re all the same but you actually found new things!

1:25 Actually you don't have to rotate the analog stick at all just press the same R2 button like you do for all the others and the camera will change to that view
6:23 It also works if you press the cape stun button.
It's the little stuff... ;-)
i have finished this game 12 times over the years all 100% and never knew some of this, you my dear sir got yourself a like
Wow! Arkham is my favourite game franchise but I didn’t know about a lot of these like the action shots!
I only knew one of these. The one when Bats picks up the KO'd enemies and throws them over his head. Thank you for showing all these unknown features.
My favorite game series of all time. By far. I recently came back to the Arkham trilogy for probably my 6-7th playthrough. Man they just don’t make games like these anymore and it’s a shame.
Great video too, I didn’t know about a handful of these useful tips
i really didnt think thered be anything new here. but i was super suprised that i only knew 2 of these. great video
Arkham Knight specifically nerfed the Batclaw to not do over ledge takedowns from the previous games BUT you can still pull enemies down from ladders if they're almost over the ledge
So trippy seeing all these "new" animations
That is amazing. Aside from the REC gun on cars thing, I didn't know any of these even after over a decade of playing these games
Ive played Arkham knight so many times and im gonna have to do another run just to use these. I genuinely thought I knew all the moves lol
That secret drop punch has Batman in the same pose as his silhouette on the cover of The Dark Knight Returns. Very cool catch!
I played this games religiously and I’m shocked that I found SO many new mechanics I never knew of.
I’m in disbelief and very impressed, you earned a subscriber
Can we all agree the arkham games are the most goated game series ever
👇
The action shots are actually told to the player in Arkham Asylum. One of the loading screens tells you about that feature.
I have 240%, the platinum, and only knew about the hacking Cobra drones, this series is just too good, great video you earned a sub
Good job.
small tips for revisitors and new players:
1.cancel grapples to ledges to gain faster movement.
Arkham series is such a treasure. You can still learn a lot of new things after all these years.
The directed aerial attack is actually mentioned in Arkham origins, if you go to your moveset.
My wife was playing Arkham Knight a couple of months ago and her hack-Cobra single-handedly taked down Deathstroke's tank! And she just chilled a near by
Quality video my Friend 🙌🏿
Thoroughly enjoyed by me!
I played through the entirety of the Arkham series like a dozen times and never knew about the majority of these. Just wow.
Damn. This kind of makes me want to play the series again!
Next time u play Arkham Knight, cape stun a enemy with a baseball bat then press A+X and Batman will take it off him rather then picking it up from the ground.
How can i do it on pc ?
@@payaso8895I don't know the pc controls sorry
Didn't realize this for so long
@@payaso8895 interact/evade button + strike button. Which means, Space + Left mouse button.
In Arkham Origins the air attack is nerfed. If you change Batman's direction after launching himself on top of the enemy, he hits him again when he is on the ground, which makes him more successful in getting up and easier to hit.
4:43 I knew you could call it when running, but wow I didn't know you could do that. That just adds to why Arkham Knight is my favourite game
Just incredible. This was a special series. Absolute masterful design in gaming.
In asylum u can do the cinematic attack if u hold the left button
This is amazing. About to replay this game. Great video bro!
Accidentally discovered the Action Shots while doing Predator Challenges in Asylum a couple of days ago. Immediately booted up City and noticed it also worked! Little stuff like that is why I still love these games
after years, something really new about Batman Arkham
Ok have to say, that air attack is definitely clutch. So damn helpful for the big guys, am gonna for sure try and remember that one thank you!
I love finally learning that after all these years, I was using the hidden action shot feature on accident because I have fat fingers and would also spam RB for no reason (especially when swinging to different gargoyles in stealth sections)
