The chubby younger Empuu is Tommy Johansson, the guitarist of Sabaton. He is an artist in his own right and well worth reacting to. He has an impressive voice and is skilled in dozens of instruments. He make Friday metal covers where he play all instruments and sing all voices. Sometimes he has a guest. With metal I mean he makes any song metal, no matter if it is a metal song to begin with.

Tommy left sabaton, he got tired of people who called them nazis just because they tell their stories in a neutral way without chosing side.
The ironic thing is that the same people who call everyone for nazis now support hamas extermination of the Jews from river to sea.
Sabaton just keep the blames away from their music.
As the next video you can try lady in black, the animated video version, not the pictures version.

Important tidbit: The fishing boat captain the band met at the beginning of the video was the son of the rescued German sailor, which is how he came to possess the compass bearing the coordinates at which Bismarck met her end.
Sabaton are the coolest history teachers ever to pick up musical instruments. They're usually classed as "power metal", but like so many other bands, they often defy categorization. They often write songs about events that, for whatever reason, often elude discussion in even collegiate history classes. Examples include "The Night Witches", about the Russian all-female 588th Bomber Regiment, and "Lady Of The Dark", about WWI Serbian war hero Milunka Savić, who according to Wikipedia is the most-decorated female combatant in the recorded history of warfare.

Is he actually though, or just actor playing a character supposed to be a son of him? Where does this information come from? Never been able to find facts about this when googling, anywhere. Seems to me it's just one of these made up rumors

    • @erikaskeroth9720

      @@DaP84
I think the fandom has it mixed the son bit up. The actor that plays captain of the fishing boat is not a son of a survivor of the Bismarck.
I think the actor, the captain plays. He has his son own son that plays the younger (or older one in the narrative of the)
So it's the actor's son not a son of one of the survivors from the Bismarck.
I'm not an expert but it makes sense and I can see how the fandom mixes up very easily.

@@teckreactions The story about the boat's captain, and the compass with the co-ordinates where the Bismarck sank, all that is a fairy tale made up for the video.
The Bsimarck (and Prinz Eugen) attempted to break out into the North Atlantic, to attack the convoy system bringing supplies from the US and other countries, to the UK. After Bismarck sank HMS Hood, a battlecruiser that was the pride of the Royal Navy, she herslf got hit by a torpedo that jammed her steerting (you see it in the video when a British aircraft hits her), and she was sunk the next morning - May 27 1941.
This video is awesome! The details on the ships are so accurate, it's truly a work of art. It isn't perfect, there are a few little mistakes, but having said that, it's amazing they produced such a quality video for a song.

    • @erikaskeroth9720
      @erikaskeroth9720 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@Warriorking.1963 I agree with you it's amazing what they managed to get so much information in a music video.
The Torpedo tha jammed the rudder two days after the Hms Hood sank Came from an outdated plane, a Swardfish torpedo bober. Ark Royal Sailed from Gibraltar after the order to the fleet came. And on her way from the Mediterranean, she was hit by a German Type 19 submarine, but the torpedo was a dud and dient exploade. And the torpedo run that hit the rudder was the last run Arc Royals planes had fulle and torpedos for. And if Prins of Wales hadn't hitt an oil reservoar on Bismarck she/he would probably have reached Atlantic whit the Prinz Eugene.
It is amazing that so much must go exactly just right for this story to play out as it did.
And Sabaton are masters to bring as much as possible in to the music video.
Best regards from Sweden and I hope you will have Continued pleasant summer 😊☀️

"Why are they singing about a Nazi battleship?"
    Because that's what they do.
They tell stories about history, battles, units, heroes and yes, sometimes also ships. Bismark was a beast of a ship, and it took like third of the whole Royal Navy to sink it. So it was definitely a historically interesting event, and that's what Sabaton is all about. They tell stories from history, usually military history, from all eras and all parties.
    The genre is power metal.
The video was made in collaboration with the game company that makes a game called World of Warships, so they had 3D models of the ships and rendering expertise already in house. As far as I know, all the footage was either shot or rendered just for this music video.

Sabaton is a great Swedish metal band. The majority of their songs deal with military-historical themes, many of which have a connection to the First or Second World War. Now you definitely have to react to Tommy Johansson (the guy at 5:18). He left Sabaton, but has his own YT channel and uplaods every Friday. Like Dan Vasc he turns all kinds of songs into metal. They're sponsored by the computer games company that makes World of Tanks, and World of Warships, and they helped with this historically accurate video. Sabaton was founded in Sweden in 1999 and is currently the most successful power metal band. They are fascinated by war in all its facets. In addition to the expected heroes, they also see soldiers who fraternize with the enemy to preserve their own humanity, or the suffering and death of the many nameless soldiers who never became heroes. As you have discovered, they have a website and videos where they explain the background to their songs with a historian.
The Bismark was the largest warship to date. When it sank the British Hood, they sank a ship that represented the entire British Navy. The British were accordingly hit hard morally. That is one reason for their fame. The other is the circumstances of their sinking. Due to a lucky hit, the Bismark could no longer change course and finally sank after a long battle. For a long time, it was disputed who sank it. Finally, the film director Cameron financed a dive to the wreck. He could not prove any critical hull damage. The German captain had sunk the ship himself because of the fires and damage to the weapons. The Bismark remained undefeated.
The sister ship Tirpitz survived the maiden voyage, but was then sunk in the harbor in a major operation. The Japanese then built even larger battleships, all of which were sunk. Aircraft carriers have taken over their function today.

They awakened in me an interest in seeing historic places. Haven't been many places so far but I managed to visit the monument to Carolus Rex (and the amazing fortress that was the site of his final battle), as well as Bletchley Park and the monument in Bletchley that's called The Glorious Dead as well as recently the monument to the battle at Toba-Fushimi which triggered the revolution in Japan in 1868. I had an interest before, but they increased it to the point where I seek out places when I manage to travel somewhere

They are from Sweden. Formed in 1999, most of their songs (9 of 10 albums) are about Military History. Lead singer Joakim Broden and bassist Par Sundstom are the primary songwriters, and only original members left. Guitarist Chris Rorland joined in 2012, drummer Hannes van Dahl (Floor's hubby) joined in 2014. Seen here is guitarist Tommy Johansson (the guy you thought looked like Emppu), he joined in 2016 and just recently left the band. Thobbe Englund has come back to the band , he was the one Tommy replaced.
No it wasn't fun for them recording on that boat, it was cold and wet. The name painted on that boat is 'Primo Victoria", which is the name of the first album released , the title track is about D-Day at Normandy. A 2019 stand alone single , the video was made in conjunction with Wargaming, the company
that makes the 'World of Warships' game, that's why the graphics are so good.
Since you love history, check out their history channel here on yt, they go into detail on the story behind the music. At least 1 episode for every song.

Normally any vessel is a she; this ship one shotted a battle cruiser and took down a couple other boats as well before being hunted down, disabled and essentially ultimately being sunk by the crew lest she fall into enemy hands. That broadcast in the beginning was the actual broadcast of the reports of HMS HOOD essentially being one shot killed by Bismarck.

Sabaton has a DEEP libary of songs and most of them have historical significance. They also operate a second youtube channel that is about each of their songs that goes into detail about the making of the song & the history of the song itself.

Welcome to Sabaton. They tell stories, no matter when nor which side. So we dont forget our past!
Cheers from Germany, we are a Navy and Army Familie. During WWII my Grandpa was drafted to serve the Kriegsmarine, he was one of the boys at this time deployed in occupied France on the smaller vessels to give escort to Bismarck and other ships, which never happened...send out to dying for nothing

If you want an awesome live song with Sabaton you should react to en livstid i krig (a lifetime of war) live Scandinavium Gothenburg 2020.
The album Carolus rex they had released during that time is about a part of Swedish history called the era of great power (stormaktstiden in Swedish) from when Sweden was a much bigger nation with ambitions of expanding.
The album was released with both an Swedish and English version, the difference being that the Swedish one tells the story from our/a Swedish soldiers view while the English is more from an outsiders view.
It is the Swedish version they played at that show so be sure the subtitles are on, I was at that show and all I can say is that you will not regret it.
As a side note, the name they gave the boat at 5:01 is taken from an older song by the band, from the older setup of the band. The last part of the text you could not see was the atlantic.

One that might be interesting to you is The Last Stand from the album with the same name. It's about the Swiss Guard and their defiant defensive action during the sacking of Rome in 1527.

For me, as a german, the Bismarck and all that stuff, it is a really difficult topic. And every band has to be deeply checked for any kind of sympathie for the "old germany". Many germans, me included, are born with this kind of curse from the past. At the beginning of my Sabaton journey, i really struggeled with this kind of war music, and still, i avoid a few songs, like Panzerkampf and Wolfpack, but there are also many songs i never get tired from, like christmas truce, race to the sea, price of a mile, 1916, no bullets fly, dreadnought, the royal guard, devil dogs,... love them all.
To hell and back is a special song, because i suffered from PTSD.
Great reaction. And Sabaton is a rabbit hole!

What you are watching are the Ghosts of the Battle. Taken back in time to witness events as they took place. Many people do NOT realize the German Navy never used the Nazi Salute on board ship. They refused to dismiss Officers with Jewish Blood. Do not mix up a political party with a race of people. People that admire warships from ALL nations can do so without agreeing on that nations ideology. Bismarck was one hell of a Battleship. He was surrounded and had a damaged rudder. The British Navy with Battleships King George the 5th, Rodney and the Heavy Cruisers Norfolk and Dorsetshire, Maule the Bismarck for two hours scoring over 400 hits. Finally after the Germans set off scuttling charges He rolled over and sank. I served in the Army, 2nd armored Div. We had the M1 Abrams tank. We admired many tanks from history. Like the British Churchill and the German Panther and Tiger tanks. it didn't mean we agreed with the Nazi's.

Hi! If I recall correctly, they made the video, at least partially in partnership with the video game World of Warships, which is how most of the battle scenes are shown. Like others have said, a lot of their songs are military history, always seen from soldier's perspective, never taking sides which is why they can do a song about the Bismarck and one about D-Day (Primo Victoria) for instance.
As for the next song, I recommend Night Witches for a more fast paced, punchy (not Joakim's thigh this time) song!

Sabaton gives historical backgrounds to all their songs & they also have a 24-hour TH-cam channel. Their drum set base is one of 2 custom-made tanks. Their behind the scenes stuff is hilarious. The guitarist you questioned in the beginning is Tommy Johannsen, who recently left the group on good terms to pursue other ventures. You should check out his solo stuff which is great & often quite funny, too. He does a funny cover of Rednex version of Cotton-eyed Joe and his Abba cover "Money Money" is fantastic (better than the original).

Genre is Powe Metal, but there is also influences about other genres. you surely hear symphonic Metal influences too. Maybe next live Sabaton example: Ghost Division(live Oberhausen, 2020 or 2012 Poland Woodstock Festival- This song is usually their opening song in live set. Sabaton and Nightwish has toured america together(Sabaton was supporter) few year ago. Now tour together is little harder because both are headline level band.

The coordinates on the compass at the beginning are the actual coordinates for the Bismarck's location. Lying almost a mile under the surface, no real point in worrying about scavengers going for the wreck.

Funny that you liked Sabaton and now you are going to know more about Sabaton and they are probably almost completely different from other artists and bands, except that all the music is about real war stories through the centuries.
Sabaton doesn't have a music manager, instead they run everything themselves.
Sabaton is run as a company with 100 people they have employed.
They do all gigs, booking arenas/venues, booking hotel rooms and plane tickets themselves. They also manage the sales of souvenirs and records themselves. Sabaton owns 8 trucks themselves that will transport all the instruments, the things they will have on stage. Because the drummer sits on the turret of a tank and the cannon barrel remains, and then the scene should look like a trench. as well as all gas tubes used for fire shows. all souvenirs and records they will sell when they tune. In addition, own buses to transport the personnel such as stage builders, sound engineers.
So thanks to Sabaton, they manage everything themselves and don't have a music manager who costs a hell of a lot of money, so the ticket price is kept down as they also manage the sale of the concert tickets themselves. So when Sabaton did the Sweden tour in 2022. the ticket only cost 46.18 pounds / 51.02 Euro, then they sold a number of tickets where the fans got to meet the band before the gig and these cost 55.25 pounds / 61.04 Euro
