I noticed a lot of comments about the credits. I glanced through and saw it was about two minutes long, so I didn't take the time to read all the names. No disrespect to those who worked on the video-their names are on the original. And yes, I missed that Floor Jansen sang at the end. The last Sabaton video didn't have long credits. Like most moviegoers, when the credits roll, I'm out. Same case here. Let's move on. Now I know for the next video.
Don't worry about the names. I can't read 95% of them either despite trying a couple dozen times! They're largely Czech names that I can't pronounce even though my "Tomashofski" heritage is a name that came from Czechoslovakia through Austria/Hungary during the late 1800's. And I still can't read 'em! 🤣 But it's impressive to notice all the many job descriptions (which are in English) and go holy wow, this was a big-ass production! Must have cost a million bucks to make and produce.
I was trained by my parents when we went to the theatre or the cinema to get up quickly to avoid the rush for the exit. However when we went to Amadeus which we saw in the second IMAX cinema in Bradford in the UK The entire audience stayed to listen to the piano concerto that played over the title sequence no-one moved until the lights went up.
Well you have been hammered enough for missing the beautiful outro music and vocals (and clearly the song did hit home for you) so I'll just recommend Sabaton's 'No Bullets Fly' for another one that shows even more directly how humanity can trancsend the political situation. Go for the extended animated story book edition - and of course watch to the very end 🙂
The script is based on letters written home by the participants. The cross is a duplicate of one that is set just outside Ypres, Belgium. 2021 was the year the video was released. Everything is period correct; the uniforms, weapons, the guitar, and the piano.
The first Christmas of WW1 is what this song is about. The soldiers of both sides got together exchanged food and cigarettes, played soccer (British won). When the officers of both sides found out what they had done, They weren't happy and every Christmas after that (1915, 16 and 17) there was always either an attack or artillery barrages so the Christmas of 1914 wasn't repeated.
The soldier with the (very) long hair is Tommy Johansson. He is also a solo artist. I highly suggest you check out his version of She's Gone (Steelheart cover). Epic! Thanks for your reaction to Sabaton. 😊
In your reaction to Bismark you called this huge guy young chubby. He is a very tall gentle giant and a musical genius with his own band, TH-cam channel and more. Take a dive into Tommy Johansson's world 😉
Significance of the "2021" carving in the cross: Harken back to the chorus, "Our moment of peace in a war that never ends." Par is telling us 1914-2021, that war STILL has not ended. The war is a flaw within humans ourselves moreso than the actual "declared" war and active combat.
When I first saw this video, I had only recently learned that my country has sent soldiers to fight in foreign fields _every_ _single_ _year_ since 1914. So he's really not wrong, sadly.
Do check out the full version of Night Witches - a story I had never heard of before and so cool. This song is emotional for me. The terror and trauma those poor trench soldiers lived and died through was disasterous. My Papa gathered dogtags & identifying info from fallen soldiers in belgium during these battles. He had lied about his age to be a soldier, and they set him to this grisly duty when they found out he was only 16. He was very traumatized and moved away to Canada at 18 by himself. Never spoke of it with people. Sabaton really captures the emotions and amazing moment of calm in the hell they were in.
It was THREE sides. People always forget that there were also French soldiers there. Heres what happened: On December 24t,1914.the German soldiers lit their lanterns and displayed them on the edge of their trenches, carol singing broke out. Soon enough the British and French troops joined in. Christmas greetings, played Soccer and well wishes were exchanged, and offers of a temporary ceasefire were communicated between the trenches. They also played the most iconic game of Soccer ever recorded. The truce lasted for two days but when their superior officers found out the soldiers on sll sides were punished. Some were transfered out, some ran,not wanting to fight. And the rest were shot right there for refusing orders to restart the battle once again. The soldiers didnt want to kill those they had met. The story about the truce is a bit more complicated. The Pope Benedictus XV Had asked the involved countries to "let the guns fall silent , at Christmas Eve. None would even consider that option. How ever, the soldiers in the trenches where suffering and the took the initiative to seize fire. Not everywhere on the front just here and there. And then the miracle happened. The soldiers started to sing Chrismas songs on both sides and eventually came together, like in the video, in no mans land. At some places the truce even held till New Years Eve. On the other side, some troops had to be transferred. Because it became hard to fire at faces you knew. Another miracle was, that nobody was courts marshalled or punished.
Thanks for your reaction. Sabaton is amazing and very dear to my heart! I agree with previous comments to also listen to Tommy Johansson and Majestica. He has a variety of music on his channel. Brilliant singer and plays many instruments. He also writes the songs for his band Majestica
Please go back later and watch and listen to the end credits, as others have mentioned female vocals there by Floor Jansen. 2021 is when the video was made and released. The video was made by people that usually DO make movies. Filmed during lockdown, when moviemaking also stopped. Lead singer, Joakim Broden, has said this song is more of a waltz. First soldier out of the trenches in drummer Hannes van Dahl (Floor's hubby), first out on the other side is guitarist Chris Rorland, battlefield solo by now former guitarist Tommy Johansson, bassist Par Sundstrom is at the cross at the end. #LestWeForget. Next from Sabaton? Try Animated Story Videos for "No Bullets Fly" or "Night Witches".
Absolutely! The credits is a part of this whole song. But it's not just that, but considering the enormous amount of work and effort, they put in their music videos (and as well in the composing of the end credit sound), I think it is more than fair, to appreciate all those people in the background and their work to this masterpiece (an there where a lot of them for this video).
I love this song, glad you got a round tuit!! If you have an affinity for Christmas music in a metal way....the general population of Finland loves metal music so much that every Christmas season an ever-changing group of metal musicians gets together to perform mostly traditional Christmas music to metal in a concert series they call 'Heavy Christmas.'' It often features famous musicians including Floor Jansen and Marko (from Nightwish) performing Ave Maria, and a personal favorite of mine is Floor performing 'O Holy Night' in Finnish for a Finnish audience, while very pregnant in 2016! Enjoying your journey of discovery to a lot of music I already know and love!🤘
Just to make sure it's easier for him to find these, let me just add that many of the videos from these events have the Finnish name "Raskasta Joulua" rather than "Heavy Christmas".
Thing is, they didn't quite go back to shooting at each other the next day. In any case, they hit the target very poorly. It's harder to kill people you know who they are. So the commanders had to move the groups around to other places, so they didn't have to shoot the ones they celebrated Christmas with, and then it was strictly forbidden to do it again the next Christmas
yeah many men refused to fight even at risk of discipline they moved them around to other areas and later years they even made them bombard more in the days leading up to Christmas >.>
Hey There Teck, Great Review again, Very few people notice what is happening when the Dates are being carved into the Cross at the end, and even though this did happened in 1914, the date that was carved into the Cross the date said 2021, was carved into it, meaning that Humans had not learned anything about the Horrors of war, and Mans In-Humanity to each other, one day the world will wake up, hopefully when it is not to late. @@teckreactions There wasn't? Sure there was. Most of these videos have little gems that you can't perceive by screaming the cursor through the remaining timeline at Warp Factor 7 and seeing only tiny little thumbnails. Also, you can't hear Floor's beautiful, tear-jerking operatic vocal. A real shame to miss such beauty in exchange for a few minutes of haste. Her husband Hannes, btw, was the German soldier who got stunned by the hand grenade and was the first to climb out of the trenches.
@@teckreactions I shouldn't have said "most of these videos" because that's not really correct. I should have said "some of these videos," as that is more accurate. Particularly with Nightwish and Epica, they most often contain little things that add something fun to the experience, even if it is just something as simple as a cute or funny comment made by one of the musicians at the very end, like Floor's little "Woo-hoo!" as she walks off stage after her duet with Simone, or Marco's "It's a tango country" at the end of a Celtic-like dance song in Buenos Aries. Other bands maybe not so much... nothing to miss. But in this case, the hidden gems were 1) Floor's beautiful vocal outro to give a "cooldown" period to let the emotions of the whole Christmas Truce story sink in and settle instead of cutting them off before a full appreciation of the melancholy theme of war and the humanity buried beneath it. 2) After curiously thinking all through the outro that, gee that voice sounds familiar, seeing the surprise notation inserted near the very end of the credits "Outro Vocals: Floor Jansen" when one knows that she is Hannes' wife and imagining a little comedic sketch in one's head: Video production manager says, "You know what? I'd really love to have an operatic soprano do an outro for this vid." Hannes says, "OK, I got one of them at home. I'll bring her to work tomorrow." 3) Just glancing at all the credits to get a gobsmacked appreciation for how much work actually went in to this production--- Way above and beyond what most any other band would do for a singles video.
Thank You, you're deep and I like it. I wrote to You before that You need to react to Tommy Johansson, the guitarist in Sabaton. He has a fantastic voice as well. You can pick Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah or The Holy Night or a Queen cover, a Abba cover or my favorite Paid my Due, a Anastasia cover. Tommy is using the Sabaton drummer Hannes Van Dahl (married to Nightwish singer Floor Jansen and they have two daughter)/ Rolf from Stockholm 😊
In the end of this song you hear Floor Jansen when the credentials are running. You should listen to their songs. The last stand, No bullets fly (animated), watch it until the end, it has a really nice ending, Night witches, 1916, and more songs Sabaton have a historic background to their songs that you can read about! They have a history channel where they break down the history behind the songs.
You need to do their cover of Motorheads song 1916. It’s a great song and a tribute to Lemmy . You should do Savatage, they are the nucleus of TSO . When the crowds are gone, Gutter ballet and their Christmas Eve song.
I told you to watch the credits also with Sabaton! When you watch their tribute to Motorhead '1916' the end credits contains more information about the battle and more beautiful music by a world class cellist. That's all I'm gonna say. And whenever you can, watch the animated /story/ versions of a song when there's one - they contain so much more than the music video or lyric video. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
The Christmas Truce has become one of the most famous and mythologised events of the First World War. But what was the real story behind the truce? Why did it happen and did British and German soldiers really play football in no-man's land? Late on Christmas Eve 1914, men of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) heard German troops in the trenches opposite them singing carols and patriotic songs and saw lanterns and small fir trees along their trenches. Messages began to be shouted between the trenches. The following day, British and German soldiers met in no man's land and exchanged gifts, took photographs and some played impromptu games of football. They also buried casualties and repaired trenches and dugouts. After Boxing Day, meetings in no man's land dwindled out. The truce was not observed everywhere along the Western Front. Elsewhere the fighting continued and casualties did occur on Christmas Day. Some officers were unhappy at the truce and worried that it would undermine fighting spirit. After 1914, the High Commands on both sides tried to prevent any truces on a similar scale happening again. Despite this, there were some isolated incidents of soldiers holding brief truces later in the war, and not only at Christmas. In what was known as the 'Live and Let Live' system, in quiet sectors of the front line, brief pauses in the hostilities were sometimes tacitly agreed, allowing both sides to repair their trenches or gather their dead.- Imperial War Museum www.iwm.org.uk/history/the-real-story-of-the-christmas-truce
If u enjoy Sabaton could u react to 1916 please. That video is absolutely amazing and beautiful. My grandfathers were in ww2 and I can never imagine what they through in that time of their life. I feel 1916 by motorhead is a tribute to warriors of the past from roman soldiers to todays soldiers in my opinion.
Excellent analysis and life introspection. I am also a big fan of TSO and Old City Bar always tugs at my heartstrings. Only thing you missed a little is that the aria during the closing credits is by Floor- which makes lots of sense as she is the wife of the drummer of Sabaton (blond long hair in video who is the grenade victim in the beginning). As the for the state of the world and 🇺🇸- agree totally- if everyone could just be a bit more kind (as the 12th Dr. Who always said)- things would be much better.
yes very TSO sounding at first due to the Carol of the Bells thing.. I believe I read or heard in an interview when this first came out that he did take Carol of the Bells (obviously) but wanted to make it moodier to fit the content. I thought it was genius. And if you love TSO.. should react to some Savatage. Gutter Ballet, When the Crowds are Gone to start with.
very sorry, that you stopped the credits. It is a form of appreciation and respecting the work of a lot of persons - and in sabaton videos a lot of people that make this song great. Not to talk about the singer of the outro.
They looked like typical credits. I wasn’t going to sit there utilizing screen time to read through 2 minutes of credits. I know for next time. Let’s move on.
almost everyone leaves a movie before the end credits finish lol why so many harsh people?. Sure Marvel and now DC have extras if you stay beyond the end credits which is why i now do the same. But it showed only words no extras and i believe no one made him aware f Floor singing the end credits if he was aware he may of listed to the end. But anyway what is done is done. Poor Hannes almost got blown up by a grenade what would Floor do without her husband but really it's a fake grenade fortunately . Great acting from the boys of Sabaton.
Again, there were three sides there. The French soldiers were there as well. Oh,and i t was two days, not one. If you check out my other comment you'll see more real inffo on it all.

You are exactly right that war loses its sense once you are the one fighting it up close with the enemy. And the enemy soldier feels the exact same way. None of you wanted to be there, so why are you the ones rotting in the ground for this? I will have to add about your remarks about the Trump assassination attempt - without political bias - that the phrase "this is not who we are" really just rings hollow. Six presidents have been shot. Three of them fatally. This is who you are, whether you like it or not. Not you personally, but it's just the reality.
@@teckreactions I get what you're trying to say, but do you find six out of 46 low? Nearly no other western democracy has ever had even one. Off the top of my head I can name only Sweden. And there are probably a few more with one. I'm not calling it "an identifier" of your republic but it is certainly at a much higher rate than most other western democracies.
@@Ryszze I did not say it was low. I was disagreeing with your comment that "this is who you are." That's not correct. We've had 46 Presidents in our 248 year history. Just because it's happened a few times does not make "who we are." Comparisons to other countries is unhelpful.
@@teckreactions Okay that's fair. Comparisons aside. But who are you then, if not what is actually happening in your country? I'm not accusing yourself of anything at all. (I will still hold that six out of 46 is not "Just a few times", but let's not get the numbers get in the way 🙂)
@@Ryszze That's a great question. I would venture to say that who we are -- are the ideals that make America great. Unfortunately, much of those ideals have been co-opted by people who want to control them and yield power. And we have politicians willing to trample on the Constitution to have whatever power they can get. But I'm also overly optimistic because our system exists in a way where it balances itself out, even if we're in a wild season.
The song ends when the video is over and not in the middle of it, just because the moving pictures are missing. The song continued. Besides, I don't know how respectful it is to cut out the people who made this video possible and also to the topic. Not even mentioning that Floor Jansen sings the last quarter of the song.

This song and some others are also made as a symphony version. Real nice
"The Symphony To End All Wars", available on Spotify.
please please please review "Ghost Of Marley" by "Majestica", which is led by the guitar player from Sabaton!
if you watch Sabaton ...always to the end!
Oooooook.
Never ever cut Sabatons credits.

Will do!
I recommend never to cut when the song ends but before the video ends several have a lot of important information and often great music too.

U found Sabatons history channel?❤
yes very TSO sounding at first due to the Carol of the Bells thing..
Nice reaction.
Thank you 😁
almost everyone leaves a movie before the end credits finish lol why so many harsh people?. Great acting from the boys of Sabaton.
i agree...
Right?! There are about 50 comments about the credits. Let’s move on.
Never cut the credits. You never know what you might find.
It looked like 2 minutes of text. Which I was not going to read. Now I know.
Floor!😢

You Cut THE GRAND FINALE!!!
You Cut THE GODDESS FLOOR!!!
Ok. I know for next time.
@@teckreactions Doesn;t mean you have to do what the cult says.....it's the same notes sung over and over.....not missing anything.....trust me.
Six presidents out of 46. It's not who we are. It's who a couple bad apples in our country decided to be, but it is not an identifier of our republic.
NEVER NEVER NEVER stop the video before it ends: it is part of the production and the stpry!
And no you fight a dictator, not a person!
That’s basically what I said. I said an “idea.” In that specific war, the dictator dictated the idea.
How could you cut of Floor? Shame on
you
Let’s move on.
The song ends when the video is over and not in the middle of it, just because the moving pictures are missing. The song continued. Besides, I don't know how respectful it is to cut out the people who made this video possible and also to the topic. Not even mentioning that Floor Jansen sings the last quarter of the song.
Ooooooook. I know for next time. I’m not reading every single name in the comments.
Beautiful song and reminiscence of our past, in Europe that is, you ( ( as a USA citizen) do not understand. 🤷♀
The USA fought in WW I, also.
You’re right. I don’t.
Not true.....most all Americans have roots elsewhere.....that was an ignorant thing to say.....
Give him some credit. He is trying to understand
