Make sure its the longer version which also includes the story and not just the music part. Especially the Nightwitches one is easy to get confused as they put out two different ones.
This video was made in collaboration between Sabaton and Wargaming, WG the creator of the online game World of Warships, i have Bismarck in my dock lol.
Just saw Sabaton released a new video called Defense of Moscow! Thanks to those that brought this to my attention. Should have this reaction out in the next couple hours! I can't wait
If nobody has mentioned it, their song No Bullets Fly is a good song with an animated video that tells the emotional of two WWII bombers, one German, the other an ally, who formed a bond decades later. It's always good to have the captions on as well with their videos to help follow the story. Bring a tissue. Enjoyed you on your live stream.
Its a pity that this song came too late for my dad - his father was on board the HMS Hood, never came home. I suspect that dad may have liked how the Hood has not been forgotten, and to watch this interpretation of how the Bismarck was eventually sunk. So, yeah, I've known about the Bismarck almost all my life.
Next Sabaton songs to check out (broken links so TH-cam doesn't delete them): Night Witches (Animated Story Video) - youtu (dot) be/5YPo8zDkvy4 No Bullets Fly (Animated Story Video) - youtu (dot) be/dslO-3GgenY
In the beginning of the Video, you can hear the Radio i, when the are driving is talking about How the Bismarck have blown the "The might cruiser Hood" That lead to the British Navy got the message that Bismarck must be destroyed at all costs and lead to Battle of The Denmark Strait. The Kriegsmarine was Nazi Germanys Navy. The Video was made with help from the company behind "World of Tanks" that needed some material to their game "World of Warships". And yes Sabaton really played on a boat in the "middle of nowhere". "From Wiki" (just a short version). Bismarck was the first of two Bismarck-class battleships built for Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine. Named after Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, the ship was laid down at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg in July 1936 and launched in February 1939. Work was completed in August 1940, when she was commissioned into the German fleet. Bismarck and her sister ship Tirpitz were the largest battleships ever built by Germany, and two of the largest built by any European power. In the course of the warship's eight-month career under its sole commanding officer, Captain Ernst Lindemann, Bismarck conducted only one offensive operation, lasting 8 days in May 1941, codenamed Rheinübung. The ship, along with the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, was to break into the Atlantic Ocean and raid Allied shipping from North America to Great Britain. The two ships were detected several times off Scandinavia, and British naval units were deployed to block their route. At the Battle of the Denmark Strait, the battlecruiser HMS Hood initially engaged Prinz Eugen, probably by mistake, while HMS Prince of Wales engaged Bismarck. In the ensuing battle Hood was destroyed by the combined fire of Bismarck and Prinz Eugen, which then damaged Prince of Wales and forced her retreat. Bismarck suffered sufficient damage from three hits to force an end to the raiding mission. The destruction of Hood spurred a relentless pursuit by the Royal Navy involving dozens of warships. Two days later, heading for occupied France to effect repairs, Bismarck was attacked by 16 obsolescent Fairey Swordfish biplane torpedo bombers from the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal; one scored a hit that rendered the battleship's steering gear inoperable. In her final battle the following morning, the already-crippled Bismarck was severely damaged during a sustained engagement with two British battleships and two heavy cruisers, was scuttled by her crew, and sank with heavy loss of life. Most experts agree that the battle damage would have caused her to sink eventually. The wreck was located in June 1989 by Robert Ballard, and has since been further surveyed by several other expeditions.. All Sabaton songs are about historical events, mainly Battles, Heroes/ Act of Heroism / Famous last stands etc. You should really check out their History Channel, The have a Historian (Indy Neidell) talking about the story behind their songs, and Indy is really amazing storyteller and they do have a video about Bismarch and how this Video was made). As someone have mentioned Bismarck was most likely Skattled(sunk) by her own crew because it went down nose first Eyewitness testimonies are quite uniform about that.
I don't remember where/when, but Hannes joked once that Freja would probably end up a lawyer or something, because the normal teenage rebellion doesn't work when both parents are in metal bands.
"HE WAS MADE TO RULE THE WAVES, ACROSS THE SEVEN SEAS!" The first lyric line to get an audible gasp from me... such a powerful delivery and such a powerful King of the Oceans!
Check out their music videos for "Fields of Verdun" and "Cliffs of Gallipoli," both awesome! Also the name of the boat in this video, "Primo Victoria," is another song by them; I admonish you to watch a lyric video for that one because the official music video has poorly mixed audio. Another good one is "82nd All the Way." You could make that a triple reaction. First, Sabaton's official lyric video; second, a cover of the song by Swedish pop metal band Amaranthe; and finally the live version with Sabaton featuring Amaranthe! Also more live videos worth checking out: "40:1" live at Woodstock Poland 2012 (same concert where you saw "Uprising") "Ghost Division" live at Woodstock Poland 2012 (this was their opening song that night) "Swedish Pagans" live at Wacken 2019 ft. Tina Guo "En Livstid i Krig" ("A Lifetime of War") live in Gothenburg 2020 (This song is sung in Swedish so be sure to turn on English subtitles!)
As others will recommend the new animated MV are pretty good - night Witches and No Bullets Fly. I also recommend the music video for a recently translated older song of theirs - The Royal Guard
I second AGDinCA's suggestion of the animated version of Night witches. Sabaton's songs are all about real battles from history (From Late medieval/Early Renaissance till WW2 mostly). Basically they are an epic metal band as well as a gateway into Military History. I'm not usually a fan of their subgenre, but they bring that history flair. Some people find them sometimes controversial since they do not discriminate in their songs which side they choose to sing about, and sometimes, as in this video, that is the Nazi's. But, in fact it is never political, It is more about individual heroism and sacrifice in war regardless of nation. Night witches is about a famed soviet All female night bomber unit in WW2. The animated version gives a lot of background, and it is great song!
Others will guide you, but as a retired US Special forces soldier i love there music, All historical topics military and they have the Sabaton history Channel that is awesome.
The name of the boat the band was on (freezing their butts off!) was "Primo Victoria" - also the name of a great Sabaton song! The heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen went on the sortie with the Bismarck and made it back to port. After the war, as USS Prinz Eugen, she was hit with 2 nukes after months of neglect and did not sink until after MORE months of neglect! The Germans made tough ships! Bismarck's sister, Tirpitz - "the lonely Queen of the North" , also took a great deal of "attention" before she sank too! My Dad was the coder on HMAS Australia - not even 9 kamikazes could sink "The Aussie"! Another vote for "Night Witches"!
Yep! Sabatons music is addictive... 😁 Once you've started listening, you just want more. My family is quite fed up with me playing Sabaton in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in the car.... I have to wear headphones in the house, but since my husband bought a new speaker... 🤭
Loved your reaction to Bismarck! Bismarck was a German battleship in World War II, and in his final battle the British fired somewhere in the neighborhood of 2800 shells, of which I believe 700-800 were large caliber (14-16 inch). Of the 2800 rounds fired, Bismarck took around 400 hits and while he could no longer fight he was still afloat. From what I have read the crew scuttled Bismarck and the inner citadel was never penetrated. Bismarck also took several torpedo hits, and out of a crew of over 2000 only a little over 100 survived. I would highly recommend watching their live performance of Ghost Division at woodstock, same show as their Uprising performance that you did a reaction to. If you thought they got right into it on Uprising, the energy they have in Ghost Division will blow your mind. They have so many good songs and are such a unique group!
Notice the details in the video, such as the pocket watch at the beginning, middle, end. And that where the missiles hit the Bismarck true slope of the process of the hostory
Another Great Reaction to another one of my favorite songs! TY!! Others to check out; 'No Bullets Fly', 'Night witches', 'Fields of Verdun', and ' Red Baron'. (So many more) Oh, and don't forget to check out their channel 'Sabaton History' where they break down the actual history behind their songs!! They have a deal with WarGaming (World of Warships, World of Tanks) to do music for their games, so they get some EXPERT aid with their videos. ;-)
Hello Tuffnuts ....Im Very Happy you listened to my request. And now im going to share another secret with you. At the end of the Video the German navy Soldier who Survived holding the Engraved Watch, with the longitude and altitude was Heuer, Bernhard. He passed away in 2018 i believe,The Captain who took Sabaton on a journey looking for the Bismark was his Grandson. GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND.
Hi. Did u notice the watch at the beginning is the same one at the end.. You also react to To Hell and Back and 82nd All the way. They were both made into movies but To Hell is also a Biography. The main actor in To Hell and Back is playing himself. Both guys got loads of metals World War1 is 82nd and ww2 is To Hell.
Great reaction again, really enjoy your reactions as they are genuine and your love for new music really shines through. This is really an insane video and one of the best, if not the best, I've seen aswell. Next I would highly, highly recommend a life performance, "En livstid i Krig" (A lifetime of war), live from the Great Tour, Gothenburg. It is something else and you do NOT want to miss it. As you might have guessed the song is i Swedish, but has subtitles I, just don't forget to switch them on. The lyrics gets you right in the core so be ready for feelings washing over you, the crowd is magic and overall it's a majestic song and performance.
Sabaton was my gateway to metal! I've heard Ozzy, Metalica, and others on the radio from time to time without much thought, but THIS is where I first went down the rabbit hole! From a bit of a song (The Last Stand) I heard in a meme compilation, I grew steadily more curious with the videos on their history channel and such. Before I knew it I was completely hooked! Playing album after album while going through my homework, anxiously anticipating their next release, another day reaction video by a first-timer, a historian, or a professional vocal coach! I've even been getting into Iron Maiden thanks to Sabaton! Pioneers of the genre who also use history, mythology, and classic literature as inspiration for their songs!
This is a great production, but as you said it was the best music video you have ever seen, i had to think about the music video from Rammstein for the song "Deutschland". I would highly recomment this video, but aware about copyright issues. Keep going!
This was made in collab with Wargaming. Before this they also had done some concerts on the World of Tanks at Gaming festivals as Gamescom. This was at a time when the company pulled out a LOT of resources on different PR-stunts. Also some very good game trailers. It was then, and now it has developed to be a moneygrab.
I recommend: Fields of Verdun, Ghost Division, 82nd All the Way, Screaming Eagles, and To Hell and Back. Screaming Eagles, Fields of Verdun, and To Hell and Back are music videos. I recommend those, especially if you liked this one.
The video retells the story of the sinking of Bismarck. The key events of the old, crappy biplane torpedo planes attacking and managing to hurt the rudder, the battle with the British that they pushed away, and the final sinking by torpedoes. The wikipedia article has a good summary. Keep that open when watching, and you can follow along with what happens. Also, the guy with the watch is the son of the guy who actually got the watch, and was on the Bismarck. The watch is the real deal.
Fun fact about this music video. it was sponsored by wargaming, the makers of world of tanks and world of warships. i find it funny how many people miss that at the end
When you did find a battleship back in the days and hammering the ship with loads of torpedos and stuff it´s not an easy task to survive. These battleships was made to not get found....
@Tom Tuffnuts: The only other band I'm aware of that does songs about military history is Iron Maiden -- The Trooper, Aces High, etc. Iron Maiden was Sabaton before Sabaton was Sabaton, lol.
Suggest the official video for Screaming Eagles... it's about the 101 Airborne and the battle of the bulge. Also, probably 100 people have told you already but I'll do my part too: Sabaton's drummer Hannes van Dahl is Floor Jansen's husband. :)
Thanks you for this one, last week i listened to Wintersun with the song Time, i tried month's ago an other song, but after a few seconds i stopped, not for me!!!!!! Well, that was a mistake after hearing Time. I was blown away and heard it 25 times now. Kai from nightwish was the drummer and but also the guitars, no words!!!!!!! Please react to this amazing song
Hi again Tom! Sabaton makes songs and videos of specific parts of wars. Without taking sides. I have a couple of recommendations for you to react to together with Sarah. Both of them are about the airforce, but not the US airforce. Both stories are animated with the song incorporated in the story. No1. No Bullets Fly. Animated Story Video, 8min 46sec. It's about a heroic act during WorldWar 2. It has a nice ending, I'll say no more. No2. Night Witches. Animated Story Video, 7min 22sec. It's about an all female squadron fighting Nazis. GirlPower DeLux! Also an animated story with the song incorporated. Now, make sure you watch to the VERY END of the video you choose. Much love!
Thank you to World of Warships for creating the amazing battle scene for this video. All the ships and fighting were created using CGI, then used Live Action actors placed into the scene. This is just one example of some of World of Warship's amazing battle scenes they can make. BTW- World of Warships is a free to play warship game.
The Bismarck sank the HMS hood killing all the crew apart from three people churchill was that pissed he sent every destroyers & battleship after the Bismarck and when it was found no mercy was shown they sank it to the point the destroyers got right up along side it and fired point blank range
For more of their music videos i recommend uprising and screaming eagles, both has great music videos, and if you want to see something live check out "en livstid i krig" live with english subtitles!
The crazy thing about the Bismarck is that even though the entire Royal Navy threw everything at the Bismarck they didn't actually sink the Bismarck they ultimately ended only crippling him beyond repair it was the Germans who decided to scuttle him because it would too much of a hassle to bring the Bismarck in for repair it just goes to show how impressive the Bismarck was
Bismarck could never have been repaired, it was so beaten up that it would have been easier to break it up and build a new one from scratch. By all accounts it was sinking anyway, it just would have taken a few hours and the crew feared the British might board it.
Even if you don't react to it, I highly recommend the music video to Uprising as well. It's great, and they even managed to recruit Swedish actor Peter Stormare to join the cast.
@@TomTuffnuts ...and also the crazy scientist/doctor in Minority Report. He has a knack for playing slightly loopy - that's for sure. And in American Gods he is great as well. I'm sure you must have meant Prison Break or have I missed that he had a part in Breaking Bad as well? I have to admit I havn't seen most seasons of Breaking Bad so that could be it but in case it's not someone is going to correct you so it might as well be me. ✨🎉🎶
the history behind the whole production of this video is simple, there is a game about batleships ( its name scapes my mind but is something like "war of batleship"), they comisioned this song as a single (this song isnt part of an album but a single), when they heard the song they ofered to pay for everything to make this video, so yeah a ton of money was put in to the making of this video, but the band didnt pay or it, thus the quality of the video.
Big hug from Swededn great reaction....i guess there is no point in arguing why Bismarck never sunk on acoount of allied torpedoes but had to sink by its own crew. yhaving no coin in it im gonna say due to the extra hulls Bismarck had its literally unsinkable. Would it have been attacked that much to be able to "sink" all u would get is a hull upside down. which means bad news for the side that lose. thats why german sailors scuttled the hulk.
The nightwitches story video is one u really must watch. the song is awesome and the story behind aswell. Btw saw u got some Poe videos, u still play or u moved on to other stuff?
After Bismarck sunk the HMS Hood which was the pride and joy of the British navy Bismarck was targeted by the British and hunted down and eventually sunk by 60% of the British fleet it took the British around a week to hunt down and sunk him decades later the wreckage of Bismarck was examined and it was discovered that overall damage done to him by the British was minimal and he was actually scuttled by the German crew to avoid the British boarding
1. Otto von Bismarck was the first chancellor of the German Empire and died way before the first world war and therefore way before the Weimar Republic was even founded. 2. The chancellor of the Weimar Republic befor Hitler was Kurt von Schleicher.
No one ever gets it. The Radio at the beginning is a 1940's broadcast. The pictures on the old Mans wall of Medals and photos of Bismarck. The COMPASS! They are going back in time. The Old Man is the Young survivor.
Just a heads up, if you ever check out Primo Victoria, I would actually recommend AGAINST watching the official video for it. It's a great song, but in the music video the sound effects are too loud and distract from the music.
Animated videos for night witches and no bullets fly is a must. The stories behind them are just as important as the songs.
Make sure its the longer version which also includes the story and not just the music part. Especially the Nightwitches one is easy to get confused as they put out two different ones.
Animated - No bullets fly... The end makes me cry every time...

Fields of Verdun is a great video also.
The young guy rescued holds the same compass the old man in beginning of video holds
Most song Sabaton does has a true story behind for example No bullets fly, Christmas truce, 1916 and the Dark angel etc.
No knees where harmed in the making of this video :)
Fun fact about this music video. it was sponsored by wargaming, the makers of world of tanks and world of warships.
i find it funny how many people miss that at the end
THE BISMARK!!! AND THE KRIEGSMARIIIINE!
Sabaton "Screaming Eagles" official video is on same level as this one, even a better song 🇸🇪🤟❤️
History with a beat
Their new music video just dropped this morning too. Defense of Moscow is the title.
When you did find a battleship back in the days and hammering the ship with loads of torpedos and stuff it´s not an easy task to survive. These battleships was made to not get found....
Next: Night Witches
@Tom Tuffnuts: The only other band I'm aware of that does songs about military history is Iron Maiden -- The Trooper, Aces High, etc.
Iron Maiden was Sabaton before Sabaton was Sabaton, lol.
Another quality production: Nightwish - Noise
have to agree
Maiden always has at least one or a few songs based on historical events on just about every album.
Thank you Sweden! I thought good metal had died. I MUST have more
Suggest the official video for Screaming Eagles... it's about the 101 Airborne and the battle of the bulge. Also, probably 100 people have told you already but I'll do my part too: Sabaton's drummer Hannes van Dahl is Floor Jansen's husband. :)
I can recomment "En Livstid I Krig" - Live - from Sabaton a lot. You should definitely give it a look/react
Great reaction and I really like your shirt :)
Much love!
Night Witches will be the next Sabaton song. Highly requested. Im stoked to check it out! Thanks DS
For more of their music videos i recommend uprising and screaming eagles, both has great music videos, and if you want to see something live check out "en livstid i krig" live with english subtitles!
another cool video is Livgardet - Sabaton (official music video)
You have to fall into the 2nd unbelievable rabbit hole. Try Rammstein "Du hast" live from Paris or "Engel" live from Madison Square Garden. 😁
Nice reaction.
SABATON !! Great !! If you love the energy - Go for Ghost Division from Woodstock Poland - A BLAST !!!
Omg i love Peter Stormare! He was awesome in breaking bad and lets not forget...the crazy astronaut in Armageddon :)
@@johnekare8376 yes prison break...although breaking bad was awesome as well
the history behind the whole production of this video is simple, there is a game about batleships ( its name scapes my mind but is something like "war of batleship"), they comisioned this song as a single (this song isnt part of an album but a single), when they heard the song they ofered to pay for everything to make this video, so yeah a ton of money was put in to the making of this video, but the band didnt pay or it, thus the quality of the video.
Christmas Truce music video says hello
En livstid i krig from Gothenburg is an experience. Just before the covid19 started, make sure to have the captions on
And tissues
Big hug from Swededn great reaction....i guess there is no point in arguing why Bismarck never sunk on acoount of allied torpedoes but had to sink by its own crew. yhaving no coin in it im gonna say due to the extra hulls Bismarck had its literally unsinkable. Would it have been attacked that much to be able to "sink" all u would get is a hull upside down. which means bad news for the side that lose. thats why german sailors scuttled the hulk.
best music video has to be rammstein - deutschland, but this is still amazing
The next one now should be 82hd All the Way, about Sgt Alvin York in WWI!!!!!
next. try Sabaton - En Livstid i Krig live at Gothenburg with lyrics.
check out their history channel on TH-cam
Both animated video are great you might need a tissue
Oh noes, dont tell me that haha, I have a name to live up to
The nightwitches story video is one u really must watch. the song is awesome and the story behind aswell. Btw saw u got some Poe videos, u still play or u moved on to other stuff?
Great reaction, did you get the significance of the Watch. If not have another look at the video and check out every time you see a watch.
The most powerful battleship ever built, you mean lol yes, even better than the Yamato.
Sailors are on ships not soldiers. One is the NAVY the other the ARMY. Not the same.
Rocking on a boat in the middle of the Baltic Sea, that quite nice or?
After Bismarck sunk the Royal Navys pride HMS Hood..Churchill gave the navy one prior..to sink Bismarck..wich they did
After Bismarck sunk the HMS Hood which was the pride and joy of the British navy Bismarck was targeted by the British and hunted down and eventually sunk by 60% of the British fleet it took the British around a week to hunt down and sunk him decades later the wreckage of Bismarck was examined and it was discovered that overall damage done to him by the British was minimal and he was actually scuttled by the German crew to avoid the British boarding
Destroying the rudder is not minimal. As Bismarck found out the hard way.
@@davidbowles7281 I meant more the hull in general, I know the swordfish damaged the rudder which allowed the fleet to catch up
@@keeganeckensviller6688 Its not that surprising given what it took to sink Yamato. Bismarck and Yamato were just built for the wrong war.
@@davidbowles7281 I would love to see those ships with modern technology
No Bullets Fly Animated story video may well see you shed a tear. Night Witches is the better song though.
please do "coat of arms", sabaton of course
Did you know the Bismarck was named after Otto von Bismarck the Germany chancellor before hitler
1. Otto von Bismarck was the first chancellor of the German Empire and died way before the first world war and therefore way before the Weimar Republic was even founded.
2. The chancellor of the Weimar Republic befor Hitler was Kurt von Schleicher.
Loved there work with Babymetal, but now that makes me want to see Babymetal do a song for Yamato. :)
No one ever gets it. The Radio at the beginning is a 1940's broadcast. The pictures on the old Mans wall of Medals and photos of Bismarck. The COMPASS! They are going back in time. The Old Man is the Young survivor.
He is too young. Maybe he is meant to be the son of the survivor?
Umm, I think we do, it's pretty obvious :-)
@@gillandianyt3920 Nah
Watch Sabaton-The red baron!
If you want to experience another incredible music video - Rammstein - Deutschland!
Just a heads up, if you ever check out Primo Victoria, I would actually recommend AGAINST watching the official video for it. It's a great song, but in the music video the sound effects are too loud and distract from the music.
