This set-list was all Glenn! He did every solo except for a couple of trade offs with KK on Green Manalishi. Wonder how this sat with KK....Glenn was just such a far superior soloist. That being said, would have loved to have seen The Sinner get slipped into this set.

The people, the place, the event and I admit I got a bit carried away the night before the show and may have had a bit too much to drink. I hadn't quite recovered fully when we went on stage and its the only time I've ever been sick during a show. Seeing footage of it now you'd never know how I felt and once the adrenaline kicked in it ended up being a wonderful show. (I did stop drinking for 6 months after that though!)." :)
Glenn had a problem with alcohol again in the early-to-mid 2000's as well. It was a topic of discussion around the heavy metal messageboards of the time.

You can see him display a little bit of how he was feeling in this video at timestamp 17:26 when he drops his pick as someone else has previously commented as well. But, he pulled it all together and delivered a great show. One of the most underrated guitarist in the world.

Tinha 15 anos e estava lá nessa noite gloriosa. Na verdade fui pra ver o Guns e saí fã do Priest. Uma das melhores noites da minha vida, um tempo que infelizmente não volta mais. Assisti ao Judas mes passado numa casa de shows da barra da tijuca e mesmo colocando um tapume pra tirar metade da lotação da casa não lotou. Não tinha kk, não tinha glenn e não tinha esse astral fantástico do rock in rio de 91, em vez disso essa maldita geração do celular na mão num show de rock, que desgraça! Halford ainda segura a onda com dignidade mas assistindo a esse video as lágrimas vieram naturalmente, o tempo é uma bosta mesmo e não está do nosso lado, ficam as lembranças dos grandes shows que a minha geração teve a oportunidade de aproveitar ao máximo, sem celulares pra atrapalhar.

Puta que pariu ...a galera de hj metaleira é reco reco msm só bosta...o Priest quem vai no show é um pistão batendo na cabeça pra sempre.metal legítimo e puro...fui em vários shows deles e outros mas show pra mim é pra beber e curtir anter durante e depois do show... Em BH último show vazio cara..que vergonha... Em BSB Tim ripper de graça com sepultura tb vazio...eu sempre falei o Judas Priest é qualquer bandas de metal vir aqui é caridade show beneficente..os caras vem pro Brasil pq são gente boa demais não tem explicação dos caras vim pra esse buraco!!! e a galera ainda reclama do ingresso que é dinheiro a coisa menos importante

Eu lembro que tinha 15 anos e fiquei chocado. Até hoje nunca vi nada parecido, nenhuma performance me causou tanto impacto quanto esta. A melhor fase do Judas Priest. Este show é provavelmente o melhor show da história do Rock in Rio!

i watched and played this live about 100 times. The power, the aggression, the majesty of JUDAS PRIEST is unique. They are HEAVY METAL. They are the most underrated band ever. I think they are 102023020 times better than metallica or iron maiden.......

Me lembro bem deste dia. Eu e meu primo saímos de 7 Lagoas/MG fomos para São João del Rey/MG. Pegamos o ônibus para o RJ à noite, chegamos pela manhã, fomos direto para o RR ficamos lá até o término dos Shows. Na mochila, um pacote de misto frio, 01 garrafa de Whisky nacional (imaginem a ressaca kkkk) e dinheiro somente para a passagem de volta, voltamos para a rodoviária à pé e dormimos no chão para esperar o primeiro ônibus de volta. Muita ansiedade, pois estaríamos vendo nossas bandas (JP e Queenryche) ao vivo pela primeira vez. Foi tudo muito bom e louco, a ansiedade na espera da abertura dos portões, a sensação ao pisar no campo, vaias para o Lobão kkkk e finalmente os shows... ÊXTASE. Valeu pela postagem.

I've seen Priest 5 times and I honestly think this tour had the most fire in it. Scott Travis was bringing the thunder and the guitar playing was at it's pinnacle for this band. Fucking majestic!

Judas priest is still my go 2 band when in doubt and I wanna rock. My very favorite is the beautiful ballad beyond the realms of death. And a nother gorgeous ballad entitled evening star. As well as all their other smash hits like metal gods.

This is absolutly the BEST PRIEST SHOW EVER and THE BEST SHOW OF THE HISTORY OF ROCK IN RIO. And just for the note... without click tracks, VS or playbacks... PRIEST rules... the best band ever. Guitar tones and playing is phenomenal, bass and drums also very tight... vocals... Rob, the Metal God, was destroying at that night... the whole band was flawless in therms of performance. An incredible performance indeed, and the audience surely realized it. I have a friend who was there, he said it was the best concert of his whole life.

Boa noite galera. Eu estava lá e esse dia foi especial para mim, pois no dia do show, eu não tinha dinheiro para ir, cada flash que passava na globo eu chorava por não poder estar lá. Quando foi por volta das 17h, um amigo me chamou no portão de casa, me perguntando se eu queria ir com ele no Rock in Rio, pois seu irmão está trabalhando em um dos portões do Maracanã. Em 5 minutos estava pronto, e dentro de alguns minutos eu estava lá, e assisti (não me lembro a ordem direito) Megadeth, Queensryche, Judas Priest e Guns n Roses. Foi um milagre e uma das noites mais lindas da minha vida!!!

Rob Halford's screams on 'Hell Bent For Leather' are just in another league to most other high-pitched metal singers. There's real pain in there! It brings tears to my eyes sometimes - it just hits you somewhere deep inside :)
True but the screams in Painkiller were not good placed...The version of Anaheim (2003-Halford solo band) was still better and the London version (2001-Demolition tour) ith Tim Owens on the vocals was bettter than this version

As bandas de hoje em dia, quando vao se apresentar em 1 hora, geralmente, cantam 5 ou 6 músicas porque mais falam do que cantam. Enrolam e fazem tudo, menos a essência do heavy metal. Judas 91' apresentou insanas 13/14 músicas kkkkkk, disso que tenho falta hoje em dia, muita encenação e pouco heavy metal raiz...

Um dos melhores shows da história desta lenda imortal do heavy metal chamada "Judas Priest"! O melhor de história deste festival! (que como nunca traz "atrações" pra encher linguiça em colunas sociais das revistas Caras da vida) Rock On!
Tenho parentes próximos e alguns conhecidos que presenciaram e relataram/relatam que foi um quebra clima: Queenryche (médio); Judas (Phodástico) e depois o Guns (ressaca). O show do Guns foi bom pra mídia, para a molecada da época, mas para o instinto do metal, foi perceptível a supremacia musical, acústica e de sinergia do Judas.

KK’s a bit of a one-trick-pony. Glenn is much more versatile.
Still got one of the spiked petrol caps from Rob's Harley, from their 1988 gig at Newport Centre.... another kid nicked it and hid it, I nicked it back but they'd all gone so I couldn't return it. Good souvenir of rock's golden age though.
Nothing beats Priest for pure metal power and strength.
Meu amigo ja falecido foi nesse dia, eu tinha acado de comprar o lp arise do sepultura, ai perguntei pra ele sobre o show do sepultura e ele disse que o som estava baixo, então ele falou, cara o show do judas foi o melhor do dia e o melhor da vida dele ate aquele momento
como eram ruins as transmissões da globo naquela época! esse show do judas é muito phoda pra uma qualidade tao ruim de som e vídeo!
Já passou o show do Judas do RIR 91 parcialmente no Multshow, a qualidd era nível DVD.

Porra eu acho o áudio desse show incrível. Não sei, da um peso a mais nas músicas. O grave da bateria do Scott Travis bate muito nessa versão.
Desse vídeo o áudio tá horrível, saturado no último, pior q loudness War, não tem dinâmica alguma. Terrível se comparar com o álbum judas priest...live em vinil!
Damn I wish the sound quality was better. Been a huge fan since British Steel. Then I went and bought every album they had previously releasedI play in a Band we did all Priest and Originals. We called ourselves Turbo. . We played 11 of the songs they played at this show.
Back in day (late eighties-early nineties) i was an aficionado of the thrash-metal scene (huge fan of Slayer and Metallica) and considered those bands as old-fashioned and obsolete... I was stupid and all-wrong and now, i can appreciate what i choose to ignore then! Thanks a lot TH-cam... Good posting blablabloly!
Same thing here! Although I'm 31 y.o from Morocco I do appreciate greatly what Judas Priest is doing in these modern times but in the past I always overlooked Rob&Co in favor of Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura, King Diamond....It's strange how taste evolves

i was in this and last week's (9/11/11) gig in Rio...hard to say which one is better...the lads are 20 yrs older but still deliver!
