Tim Owens did real justice while fronting Judas Priest, Rob Halford will always be the best, but let’s give this man real credit, he did an amazing job

This was definitely one of Owen's better ones, but Priest should have offered the lead role to Ralf Scheepers of Primal Fear- one of the best voices in rock/metal, period and he could hit/hold those notes with ease

@@creamwobbly He’s the singer for the German heavy metal/power metal band Primal Fear but was also the frontman for German power metal veterans Gamma Ray. He’s a phenomenal singer and even auditioned for Priest. Total Halford Clone but I loved Ripper Owens in Priest.

Hats off to Tim “the Rippers” for having the vocal chops to keep the Priest Machine rolling along while Rob’s hiatus from the band allowed time for the small-minded folks to be overwhelmed by the more sensible ones among us.

Saw them on this tour: loudest band I've ever seen live and it was in a mid-sized venue. They tore the roof off the place, which never booked a metal band again.

I remember seeing him when he was with a group called Winters Bane. 1 set of their music and the other set as a JP tribute band. To say his talents were underused would be a huge understatement. You could tell he loved JP material and loved singing it. Definitely knew he was headed to greener pastures even back then.

Bullet Train version on '98 Metal Meltdown is absolutely brootal. Yeah, Prist made tonnes of gold music with The Ripper. I certainly like the Demolition CD a lot also, better than Jugulator. cd. YEES to what you're saying.

Lucky me , I scored over 10 bootleg concerts back in the days with Ripper fronting for Priest at Fricken night clubs across the states , with maybe 100 people in the audience. Very in your face, very close to the band videos . Many of my friends were not impressed because it wasn't Halford . Now they're begging for a copy after they woke up and realized Ripper was da stuff back then 👍

I saw Priest twice with Rob in the early 80s, and once with Ripper in the late 90s. Although Rob is more charismatic, the nineties show was better. On the Halford tours (Point of Entry and Defenders), the band had to wrangle massive sets and elaborate light shows; in the Ripper show, they were playing a small club with minimal gimmicks and fighting to show they still had the fire. And they did. Over two-and-a-half hours of bruising, high-intensity metal.

See 2009 Seminole Hard Rock Arena Judas Priest rob Halford's taking this queue to add vocalizations at the end like this. Where did it come from? METAL FEEL. Tim Owens had the right stuff and THAT is METAL. To it's core. If you FEEL it: it works. It's right. And he knew it, he felt it. He gave it to us. Every little bit, every single nuance - makes ALL the difference.

Wow. I've always shunned Tim the ripper Owens as an imposter. A wanna-be. Never accepted him as Judas Priest material. But now I understand! At the end. Where he adds the three "Huuuuah'S" - I understand now! He added the artistic license that IS heavy Metal to it's core. which equals "Judas Priest". You cannot HAVE Heavy Metal without Judas Priest. Any Judas Priest addition onto - above - and beyond the studio recording - which adds artistic license...IS a redefining of what heavy metal IS. For an artist member of that band to add artistic license - and for it to work - and sound and feel right: that artist IS Judas Priest material. Here, Tim Owens proved himself to me just fine! OH YEAH! Even Rob Halford would later take this queue and add in screams of his own, here - like as seen in Seminole Hard Rock Arena 2009 Live performance of this same song. I now respect Tim Owens every bit as much. A pioneer. A fellow metal soul. God Bless this talented spirit of his.
