    I use "Beefy" flavored mushrooms (Bella), I also use the Minimally processed Soy Granuals ( like Soy Curls - only made smaller to mimic Hamburger), Also potatoes - chopped into small cubes - can be used to flesh out your "meat" for your tacos, pizza or Soy "hamburger" needs. ***We don't eat the Soy Granuals every day... but for the treat of once a week or so for Taco night hits the spot!***

      I just finished a pack of impossible burgers and my hunger level spiked!!! I’ll never buy plant based meat again! I got to get my body back on track and it was only two days of eating them! Smh! I still lost weight though lol

    Girl Thank you for this wonderful information. I have tried some plant based meat and it didn't go well with my digestive system so I completely cut them out. I rely on mushrooms and hearts of palm. Thank you 😊

    I recently started eating more vegan. Instead of hot wings, I got cauliflower and the hot wing sauce and omg it was so good. Helps with my depression.

    Wow God is so good. I found your video immediately after coming off this Daniel fast. I am slowly but surely eliminating meat from my lifestyle but have been in a habit of buying the "plant based meats." I am experimenting with Pinterest learning how to cook with sweet potato, chick peas and nuts and seeds. Its not easy but its so fun learning because I wanna be healthy. Thank you for this video. Hope everyone benefits from this information 🌿🪴🥗🥗

    🌼 I'm new to your channel, found this video, so glad I did. This validates the intuitive nudges I was having about eating non meat, plant based meat alternatives. I was never a big meat eater when I did eat meat, but ate plant based meat occasionally when having a craving and for a protein alternative, but these days...hardly at all. The taste and texture of them started to get strange and off for me. So something in me was telling me no, this has to go! Now I am considering eating plant based meat very occasionally or not at all. Good thing I have my own bean and lentil burgers when having the taste for a meaty protein. I also include nuts, beans, quinoa, and oatmeal as protein sources. Was vegetarian. Now vegan. Plants, plants, plants, just eating plants, and loving it! You are an inspiration to continue on with my plant based diet. To find other vegans to inspire and to help along the journey is so helpful. Thank You. 😊 🌿🥦🥑🥥🍇🫐 🍋🍄🥕🌽🍅🥜🥒🍠🌿

    I’ve heard a lot of negatives about plant based so thanks for providing the pros and cons

  • @gregorymcmahan3914
    @gregorymcmahan3914 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good work, Melissa! I was worried there for a quick minute with your pros, but you recovered nicely with your cons. Still, you forgot to add in your cons the single biggest problem with faux meat (beyond the nutritional issues) and that is their cost out of pocket to the consumer at the register. Pound for pound as compared to real meat, fake meat costs more.
    Also, you do not get around the pesticides problem and the toxic chemicals problem by buying them. In the fake meat space, 'organic' is not necessarily what you think, and when you cook these fake meats, chemical transformations occur that lead to toxin production (think carcinogens and whatnot).
    Whole-food, plant-based (or minimally processed) is the best way to go if these things concern you.
    Once again, good job, Melissa! You go, girl!

    I love meat (seafood, lamb, cow, salmon, goat, and other meats). I limit highly processed foods. I try to eat foods with a few ingredients. There is too much polarization when it comes to food!

    I am new to the journey I like Whole Foods best. However in Mpls where I live I found a vegan butcher (the Herbivorous Butcher). I know what they put in their faux meat it (mostly seitan and jackfruit). It’s “freshly made” and it is a treat rather than an everyday experience (because I have to go out of my way to get it).

    • @ChoosingMyHealth
      @ChoosingMyHealth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Nubi! Great question. I don’t have a particular brand to recommend, but I’d say to choose the best you can find based on the cleanest ingredients (most times these ingredients are recognizable). I find that less ingredients on the list is a good sign. Look out for allergens, and take note of sodium content.

    Question: I'm starting to make my own faux meats from the 'Sauce Stache" guy and he uses methylcellulose any thoughts on using it in this fashion causing health issues?

    • @ChoosingMyHealth
      @ChoosingMyHealth  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Kelly! How rewarding to make your own faux meat 🤗 So methlycellulose is a very processed ingredient. Perhaps do some more research about the ingredient to decide whether you feel entirely comfortable with it. If not, explore other less processed ingredients that can replace it for your recipes 🙏🏽

    It sounds like plant base meats still have all of the risks that we are trying to avoid. Time to find another way, as soon as I finish what’s in my fridge. I wouldn’t recommend tofu, or anything soy. There are a lot of dangers that come with soy, increased estrogen levels in men, and breast cancer risks.
