Thanks for taking one for the team on this one. Keep us updated on what you end up doing instead, hopefully you find a clean solution to fully cover the whole surface.
Im right there with you and extremely detail oriented about the fit and finish of a product…it could do a fantastic job and 99% of what it was intended to do but that last 1% is in the fine details and that’s what I look for in a product. I’m assuming it’s a problem with all pre-cut products where it will be a dust magnet and/or show a little bit of glossy piano, black. Part of me wants to put a mattePPF or vinyl product on there and the other part of me is screaming to spend the extra time and money to find a complete replacement, because I want it ALL gone…including the the doors.
Thats the conclusion I came to as well. The only true solution is a custom cut piece you do yourself or have someone do. Anything precut will leave some edges and it'll just look bad.
Yeah, I'd agree with you. I like how it looks where it's matte. I don't like that the matte isn't 100% full coverage. If I were going to do that, I would want those pieces to be cut in such a way that you had to remove the trim, wrap the edges of the film around, and then re-install. Thanks for taking one for the team on this. Hope your video eventually earns you your money back lol
Couple of us PNW GR guys have taken the center area off and wrapped it in matte forged carbon fiber. Wish I could post a picture here to show you as I love looking at it rather than the gloss black!
I've seen a few scattered pictures online using forged carbon and regular carbon and it does look good. I need to check a local shop and see what they'd charge for the service.
I already knew what you were gonna say as soon as that first strip went on. I did a film like this once (ironically I was covering exterior chrome belt line trim with a piano black film). Tore it off, I think it only cost about $30 though. But I replaced it with factory OEM piano black pieces that cost like $600....
We be doin protective films at the dealer on cars, when I installed it , it came out mint but i spent a good hour doing it😂 , might remove it too tho and probably do purple vinyl after all tho , wasnt feeling the matte
If I am thinking the same, thats the process I have seen where they dip parts in a water solution, with the some design/overlay floating on top? If so, i've see some really cool parts made from that process.
It didn't take too long in customs, but it was held for a day or so. However, I've had some parts I've ordered for this car arrive through customs fast and others like my down pipe where held up for weeks.
For me personally I hate the scratches and dirt on the piano black so much I prefer the look of a sticker. Idk why piano black is ever an option, nobody likes it because it scratches so easily and dust so so visible.
Hey @carquicks I have a few questions about starting a youtube channel about my GR corolla I just bought and would love to get your input. Lmk what would he the best way to get in contact thanks.

LOL! Thats what I'm here for... I even came back the next few days and was thinking if my opinion would change, but NOPE... dont like it. LOL!
Great information. I wanted to do this too but didn't realize the gloss showed through. Thanks for saving me the time and money HAHA.
I'm here to help the people! LOL! Glad I could assist with showing people the full aftermath.
You took one for the team 🙏
I'm just here to report to my fellow GRC owners, for many I can see this also being a problem.

Honestly, after that first piece, in the back of my head I was already like... "This isn't it..."

Yeah I chopped this video up, but there was a moment I had to turn off A/C and was sweating aligning the pieces... SMH LOL!
Got the same kit and i feel the EXACT same way brother. ima leave it in for now but its gotta come out when i found another alternative.
Im glad I'm not alone! Lol! I'll hold it until i come up with the next plan, but yeah... not what I want at all.
@@CarQuicks its starting to look better than it actually did now. I might just leave it in. I guess the heat made it stick better.
Tuffskins or king of carbon fiber seems like a good option. Havnt decided yet for mine
If been thinking about those 2 companies as well.
I just ordered my TS from GR performance
Remove the panels and wrap it in the same forged carbon pattern as the roof of the circuit edition?
Thats really what has to happen to make it look the part. I wouldn't do forged, but a matte carbon is probably where I may gp.
Search "hydro dipping interior car parts". It's a process, but can give awesome results, carbon fiber look or similar.

@@CarQuicks yeah, I've seen all kinds of cools designs with that process.
How long did it take to move from customs? My package has been stuck there since Monday

@@CarQuicks Thanks for the response! If I don't like the PPF either. I may go the Tufskinz forged route since I do have the roof to match.
They have a clear one right?
Yes they do.
Maybe plasti dip the parts? but you'll need to take the pieces out to properly plasti dip it?
This is being considered too.
For me personally I hate the scratches and dirt on the piano black so much I prefer the look of a sticker. Idk why piano black is ever an option, nobody likes it because it scratches so easily and dust so so visible.
Piano black needs to be removed from all parts bins and suppliers!
!
I know!
PLASTI DIP
Definitely considering this option!
