Thank you for making these great Knowledgeable videos bro You make The GR Corolla platform so easy to work on 🔥 thank you for explaining everything with detail quick and easy and also thank you for the driving reviews 💪🏽 I’m here for the long ride
I used ur video to install this and laughed every time I heard u say short shifter sandwich. Took about 1hr in total from start to finish. Feels great!! I also have their 60A pitch mount and it’s a great combo. I got the 70a and I’m tempted to swap it out again but nervous it’ll be too much nvh without much added benefit.
I’m running the racerx too, 70 though. Got the 60 and 70 but put on the 70. NVH was bad at first but has definitely gone down after 500 miles of break in. I only feel harshness when the car is stalling, other than that it feels really solid, very minimal NVH.
Better loctite that nut on the upside down cable connection. Not sure I can trust it to not backout from vibration overtime even with a split washer. I wish they also added a hole on the stud for additional retainer clip safety.
No torque specs, I've changed a few parts related to the shifting mechanisms and have only ever put them on tight with hand tools, not over tightening. No issues have come up or loose.
Yes I am, I actually did a video talking about the 2 short shifters running together and its been amazing. So far I'm somewhere around 7000+ miles with the setup. I have had any grinding, missed gears, binding, etc. The setup has been amazing.
Honestly, for a long time. Not just because it’s Toyota, reading on how it’s built and the years the GR Yaris has been running, unless you are pushing huge power, it should last for as many years as you own the car.
You can go directly to the RacerX Fabrication website as they have them listed and in stock. Very easy ordering and fast shipping. Good company to support from my own experience.
Man my forge is giving me problems. No matter how hard I crank down the pin that goes through the bushing it eventually backs out over time and shifting is not horrible but notchy as hell cuz the pin starts moving around. My question is, is this racer x shifter short enough? I see it’s set to 40% on the website but the 50-60% range on the forge felt so right (while it worked). Do you have an opinion on this?
I ran the Forge SS for a long time and whole it is notchy; I did like it. The RacerX version cleans up the notchiness a fair amount and matches pretty close to the overall shortness of the Forge unit. Personally, just from installation to daily usage I prefer the RacerX versions. Also, with the new BilletWorkz full short throw assembly you can pair it with the RacerX kit and really get it short!
So i checked my forge ss again and the pin has actually been in place this time. What i noticed is that a corner of the black cable head that holds the bushing is rubbing and wearing out because it’s touching the other parts of the shifter. Didn’t film it but my guess is that’s what could be causing the notchiness from 2nd to 3rd 🤷🏻♂️. .. anywho, racerx shorted me on hardware so I’m waiting for them to send me an extra collar lol Dc bushings with no ss is still a great improvement from stock in my opinion 👌🏼
@@KoalaOalaJones In the directions for the forge ss install they say you might have to trim a corner of that black plastic cable head depending on where you set the ss ratio at
My friend bought a GR Corolla. The motor blown up twice already. Don’t know what he’s doing. He’s crying now that he should’ve gotten a type R 😂 he’s asking me to take his lease payments over. I told him I’ve been drinking, but not that much.
The 🐝 s knees lol ... Great video !
LOL! Thanks!

Thank you! I really appreciate that!
Thank you, I didn't even know they made a bushing/shifter kit. I'll definitely add the combo to my wish list.
The total kit together matches well to the car. Feels great.
Hold up train tracks lol got me cracking up great video bro
They came outta nowhere! LOL!
Keep them videos coming man I watch them all at least I tried to
I appreciate the support always!

Haha! Glad I could help. I would say the 70a won’t be too much NVH, but I might be a bad gauge because I ran an 85A for like 15K miles lol

I couldn’t get the locking pin back in the 2nd hole you show, must be something with the manufacturing tolerance. Thanks for the vid!
The tolerances are definitely tight! I had to use a rubber mallet in a few spots to help persuade it.

You know what… you are not wrong on that assessment. Will need to revisit that immediately.
@@CarQuicks it's a simple modification if you can drill a tiny hole on the stud for a retainer clip. Just that extra peace of mind.
Use a Nord Lock washer
@@CarQuicks Use blue locktite BTW
Thanks for the info
No problem! If you get this same SS hope you enjoy it as much as I am!
Does it feel notchier/ less smooth then oem?
With this kit it’s smooth and direct. The Forge Motorsport kit was noticeable notchier. This is a smooth, direct and short engagement.
Just curious. What website do you go to, to buy your parts for the gr
I use a few, one is Penguin Garage. Another is GRPerformance Parts, LimitPlus1 and 2J-Racing.
Is there enough space to add the mounting bracket back after installing the short shifter?
Yes, there is, the bracket I removed must be re-installed in order to mount the intake I have and the stock intake.
do the instructions have torque specs for the bracket?
No torque specs, I've changed a few parts related to the shifting mechanisms and have only ever put them on tight with hand tools, not over tightening. No issues have come up or loose.
Are you still running the billetworx short throw with this?

I have a question how long you think the motor is gonna hold up I know Toyota is behind it

Stock block seems very stout, valve float can occur but upgraded springs and retainers can help with that

I saw that but I’m not gonna trim anything on this car.. just yet
CAE next. lol
This is literally happening next... I tried to avoid it, but fate has other plans. I need it now. Lol.
@@CarQuicks Hey Fellow Houstonian which CAE are you going with?

Ain’t no way! TWO blown engines… my man doing too much in the streets! I’d call Toyota and find out how that’s even possible in a stock engine.
@@CarQuicks people don’t tell you the whole story it could be a bad tune or maybe just driving the car too hard
Sounds like a total idiot to me. Ain’t no way this motor blew up twice.
