I bought a color variant of this watch just before the pandemic to use while on motorcycle trips or hikes. Didn't get much use until lockdowns were lifted, but when I actually had an opportunity to use it I actually really liked it. The worst thing about this watch, is that it has made me interested in other Casio watches, and I have started collecting them. I guess you could say it was the "gateway" watch that got me hooked on more and more Casios.

I have just bought one for the motorbike too and have used another Casio x 20 years which is now difficult to read and not waterproof anymore on the handlebars with a thermometer

      Wasn't a lockdown.
Everybody was free to come and go from their house.
People call it a lockdown cause they think it's cool.
      It's not.

Got mine a week now and I love it. The countdown timer is very useful for when you are making some food and want to be reminded when rice or pasta is cooked. The interface is superb , my favourite on any Casio I have seen, having local time always available is great. Also the different chime when you navigate to the main screen is useful and helps navigating without looking.
I have the one with the blue-green line across the screen and it looks great. I highly recommend anyone this watch. Has all the features most people would use in a smart watch on a regular basis without the need to charge all the time or being outdated the next year a new model comes out.

I bought a Protrek triple sensor watch about six months ago, nice watch overall. The compass in it has the same issues and limitations as the SGW-100. When calibrated and used properly it could be a useful backup if I ever loose my Cammenga compass while in the woods. I'd love to see Casio produce a three axis compass that you could use reliably like a traditional magnetic compass.

Going to use this as a camp watch. Bought it specifically for the compass and the light. At night if there is a bump in the night I can press the button and see the time without having to turn on any lights. And as long as you calibrate and use the compass as you demonstrated it can be a valuable nav tool. Thanks for the vid!

There is also a way to set the declination. I bought one of these at a discount several years ago but didn't wear it very often. The battery finally died and it ended up setting on the shelf for about a year. I finally got a new battery, which is about the size of a nickel, and realized that I had forgotten how to set it. No problem, I did a TH-cam search and like everything else, there was a video. When you want to calibrate the compass, the next step is to set the declination (Spokane, where I live is -8.9°). I used another compass to check it and it seems to be spot on.
    Good video, bye the way...

Two questions... 1st, if you never used the compass, about how long would a battery last? 2nd, if you used the compass say, 5 times a day, every day, then how long would a battery last? Just estimates are fine, just wondering the compass/temperature button affects battery life. Thank you!
