    I've beaten mine to absolute Hell and back. Still works perfectly fine 6 years later w 1 battery change as of yet last year. Just FYI I've had G shocks and nh35 watches fail me but never my inox. It even worked when I once pulled a cabin on a sled w a snowmobile for 16 hours straight in temps below -40C. I had it on top of my jacket becuase it was so cold the phone battery would die immediatley.

    I've owned this knife for a long long time. It sat in my camping gear until 3 years ago. I live in Ukraine and deliver aid to the front 2 to 3 times a week. I now carry this on my hip, lashed to my leg. I can say without a doubt, it has taken a beating and has done things knives should not be able to do and survive. I modified it about 4 years ago to be more camping friendly. I took the bevel from 25 degrees and small to about a 1/4 bevel and 20 degrees. I know I know, crazy to do to this thing, but it has not skipped a beat and is no worse for wear. It does however, slice better. It does not keep an edge but it was the reason I bought it in the first place. I wanted to be able to sharpen it on a rock if needed. I bought the Ranger series rd-6 just last week and it is just as monstrous as the NS. would recommend this thing to just about anyone.

    I agree that it would be a lot more practical in a boat or vehicle. That said, in many miles of canoe camping I can't recall when I might have wanted anything like that. The SRK is about the most robust knife I would want to take, especially if there are more than a couple of portages.

    I like Ontario but their grinds are ridiculously thick behind the edge. More of a shovel or pry bar than a knife. Expect to spend a couple of days reprofiling. That might be a fun project for some. I can dig it. You can get a really good sheath with Condor knives.

      @@user-fs7df1xg9v yes. I reprofiled this thing twice now. I honed it and stropped it. The edge gleams like a razor. But the geometry is terrible. You can never have too may knifes, can you? I see you keep some collectibles and unused spare ones around as emediate replacement. My story is I bought one Mora companion style knife then missplaced it, thougt I've lost it. Next I bought a second one. Then I found the first again in my garage. So its not a bad idea to have at least two. Doubles the chance you can find at least one if you need it.😉 Something I've noticed with both of mine is that the spine is hollowed out roughth and unfinished black inside. First what I thought is a production flaw now makes me wonder if its meant to be this way since I see it's the same Hollow spine with your "robust" knife at minute 23:27. But anyway my theory is that it's a production flaw and the spine is unfortunately always the outside of a biger rolled flat metal sheet where the knifes are sawen out to save cost and material. Cant complayn too much they are cheap and handy. I alread thougt of grinding the spine down to a flat nineteen degrees but then I possible could scratch the handle and then I may also replace the handle with something more durable like wood or staked leather. But we will see I haven't tried to spark a rod with the hollow spine. Im also not a big fan of the rubber overmold handle. Typicaly in a few jears this rubber disintegrates gets stiky and falls appart. But maybe it's the type of rubber that just gets hard and brittle over time, not shure but time will tell. Any long time experience with the durability of the rubber handle?

    • @SuburbanPathfinder
      @SuburbanPathfinder 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@maxpayne3779 all of the spines on the lower priced Moras have that rough, stamped-out finish. I have made a ninety degree spine on a couple of them with a file. I just received a Companion Heavy-Duty today and it has a finished spine. The other, more expensive, models I've seen have finished spines. But, so far, the Companion Heavy Duty is the least expensive I've seen. I don't really care for the rubber overmold on the older Companions. It is thin and I thought it would disintegrate quickly, but it hasn't. The green Companion I talked about carrying in the Army is 20+ years old and still holding up fine. The rubber looks cheesy but seems to be of high quality.

I sent it in as a warranty repair but when it arrived the notes for what ever reason did not acknowledge this. I was happy to provide the information again but the email system they use never goes to the same individual. I had to send it in several times unsure if they were receiving it. It was confirmed received and I waited almost two months with no update. Reached out again and they said they DIDNT receive it! Sent the info in a second/third time. At the end of it all it took far too long and was plagued with poor communication. Also side complaint, the return parcel was packed very poorly (watch was tapped in a ball) and I was told they never issue a service report despite asking for information on work that was done... seriously made me want to sell all my zodiacs.
