I would have loved to have joined when I was younger, I'm 41 now so to all you young lads out there just sign up and don't have any regrets like I do. 🇮🇪❤☘
An excellent production on behalf of The Defence Forces and the Air Corp,it’s a great life and starting block for any young man or woman and has the potential to unlock many possibilities,I had the honour to serve for 11 years in the Defence Forces before I transferred to another Department ( the lure of better pay and conditions is hard to ignore as you get older ) but I’ll never forget my time in service.
Godspeed Ireland, I’d consider enlisting but I’m stuck across the pond and probably am not cut out for that, all that aside, I hope the beloved ancestral Isle a lot of us yanks claim heritage to can be made whole again one day Love from Colorado!
Very high! Our newly qualified pilots transition to fixed wing or rotary wing based on their own personal preference, suitability & vacancies in each wing.
After you have finished training and survival school are you obliged to serve 2 years abroad before you become a pilot or is that part skipped? and after you get your wings can you fly both rotary wing and fixed wing planes?
Overseas service is not required to become a pilot. Upon successful completion of flying training, newly commissioned officers transition to either fixed wing or rotary wing initially, but transitions to other aircraft down the line are absolutely possible!
Great question! Being mechanically minded is an extremely valuable trait to have when working with aircraft. We look for a number of important qualities in all new members of our organisation. Below is a list of the main abilities & skills with respect to becoming an Air Corps cadet: -The ability to plan, prioritize and organise. -The ability to carefully analyse problems, in order to generate appropriate solutions. -The technical and physical ability required to pilot military aircraft in challenging situations. -Clear, concise and effective communication skills. -The ability to motivate others and work with a team. -Can do all of this while working in a physically demanding and high pressure environment. If you believe you have what it takes, then join our team!
All cadets fly the PC-9M to high skill level for their training, and pilots can later apply for the Flight Instructors Course, which sees them transition back to the PC-9M for training to become a military flight instructor. So, plenty of opportunity to fly the PC-9M!
I’m 14 but I’m definitely joining when I’m older
Excellent! Keep working hard and we may see you as part of our team down the line 👌

Don’t know wether to join the army or air Corps when I’m older but both are really cool. Thank you for your service🇮🇪
Even the military ads in Ireland have a charm to them.
It has been my dream to join the air corps since I've been a kid hopefully ill be able to join in the next two years.
Great stuff Ryan. We might hear from you then. Keep up the hard work!
Definitely what I want to do when I'm older
Is there an Irish special forces contingent? Oh, it was sort of confirmed later in the vid.
Class video, hoping to join as a cadet next year.
Great to hear!
I'm 12 but I always had a love for flying and I hope to be with you in a few years time
Keep working hard Thomas, and we may see you as part of the team in a few years!
As I am northern Irish, but do have an Irish passport, will I be heavily affected from trying to get a cadetship?

Love from Colorado!
Wish I was 17 again. You'd a better chance of winning the lotto than an apprenticeship in the drome back in the early 90s ☹️
What are the chances of there being a Helicopter Pilot vacancy once you complete your wings training.
Very high! Our newly qualified pilots transition to fixed wing or rotary wing based on their own personal preference, suitability & vacancies in each wing.
I’d definitely like to be apart of the Air Corps. Hopefully I can make it happen!
Great to hear Luke!
hopefully joining later this year
It may seem an odd question but, is it possible for a British citizen to join the Irish Military?
100% want to join when im old enough
Great stuff Aidan! If you're still 100% keen at the required age, keep an eye out for our competitions which generally run every year.
Can’t wait for the competition to open!
It's open right now! www.military.ie/en/careers/current-competitions/
I'm only 12 but I've been dreaming of joining since I was 8.
Great stuff Liam! We might hear from you in a few years for a future recruitment competition. Keep up the hard work!

Would you have to be very mechanically minded/ good with your hands? (To be a cadet)

Is it very selective to become a pilot of the likes of the pilatus pc9 or is there allot of opportunity and if so I will sign up when I'm old enough

Do we get deployed during the 10 month military training to become a pilot?
No, all training during phase 1 (military training) is conducted in Ireland. Hope this helps!
@@aerchornaheireann534 thanks for letting me know

Phase 1 of the Cadetship (military training) will present you with multiple opportunities to overcome that fear!
Cool
The Irish Air force is the best in the world
