    I think it is important to differenciate thou between big companies and small businesses. Big companies definitely ALWAYS have more than they would offer in their budget. The range with smaller companies is a lot smaller usually and since you work closer usually with the one interviewing, they are probably also more interested in hiring someone who seems like they would be satisfied with the offer. As someone who hired multiple employees for the small family business I work at, I did favor candidates that were more realistic with their salary expectations to those who completely reached for outside our payrange (which did happen shockingly often and it was not even a salary range that fit the industry).
    An extra tip in those situation I would actually very much respect is: If they want you to tell your salary expectation and you are unsure how much the precise position is worth, state that you would rather first do a trial work day (or halfday) before giving your number. That way you can do an informed decision.

    Thank you Reni!
    Question, you mentioned they always have spare money. In one of my recent job descriptions they had the low amount listed , and the benefits. They are recruiting for few people in this role.
    However, in the application they asked for expected salary. I was confused, but put an amount. I had a phone interview , and there the HR person stated the amount , and asked if I was okay with that. I was like -_- hmmm to myself . They guy also mention when I try to ask if they can negotiate, he said thats the firm amount ( something like this). Idk if you could help me understand this? I didn’t know how to get my way around this. So when he followed up again in the convo, I paused and said I am open to it ( in my head thinking since he’s hr, he couldn’t answer my other questions, he may not be able to negotiate)

    Thank you for this video! I have been filling out LOTS of applications online in which they ask for your desired compensation. If you do not list a number, you cannot fill out the rest of the application and submit it. The first job I applied for is one I would really love, but I made the mistake of listing my baseline as desired compensation. They accepted that number, but I know I'm worth more based on my skills and after the interview process. Is it wise to negotiate after this?

    • @xoReni
      @xoReni  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You got this! You should definitely negotiate after. Simply say that after going through the interview process and learning more about the role and responsibilities you believe a fair salary is xyz. The worst they can say is no!
