I think STL's plastic 12 hole is especially good for young learners. My little brother has had it for about a year and I think the holes of it are especially tactile which helps beginners feel where their fingers are supposed to go.

I have the super old plastic zelda ocarina from STL that I thought was good. It was their 12 hole plastic ocarina FUNdamentals that they put a triforce sticker on back 12-ish years ago. Then last Christmas, I got my daughter the new plastic Zelda ocarina from STL with the songbook, and I was impressed by the improvement in sound quality, so now I'm awaiting my black plastic from STL.

Love your videos! You got me into playing the Ocarina, and now I feel a lot more confident using the instrument.

Glad to hear it! The goal with my content is to have answers for pretty much every beginner question + help get beginners to an intermediate level :)

You got me into ocarina playing too and I just learned my first song and I’m in love with this instrument. You also led me to David which is amazing too.

The first plastic ocarina I bought was a Focalink (looks like Bravura) plastic 12 hole alto C. The finger holes on the right hand were too far apart for my hands and it was uncomfortable to play because of having to stretch to reach the lowest notes. I then bought an STL plastic 12 hole "tenor" C and it was a much better fit since the holes are closer together on the right hand. It's a pretty good instrument, well tuned and easy to play. Their plastic bass C is decent as well once you figure out the fingering. Some of STL's ceramic ocarinas are wonky however, with various breath curve and tuning issues.

Quick thanks as I’m passing through - I bought this ocarina off of your recommendation and am SO happy with it. It’s nice to have on my desk and pick up for a song or two between games online.

The only issue I had with the STL plastic Ocarina is that I got it for my son. They have a bundle for Animal Crossing songbook and a green Ocarina that you have to search Google for as it is not something found easily on their website. My son is 10 years old and the issue he has with it is that the finger holes are rather large, definitely larger than on the Night by Noble. It's basically another one of my ocarinas now and he uses my night by Noble to practice. 😅

I'm so broke right now I just started digging for clay from st.louis soil and making ocarinas. I'm still trying to get better at tuning and pottery, but once I do, I'll have my own STLOcarina. So far i've made one crappy one, one almost decent one, and one that I'm not sure how it will turn out yet.

I ordered the STL plastic as my first ocarina and learned lord of the rings shire song. I love love love the thing for the price. I’ve been playing other instruments almost my whole life and this is the only instrument I’ve picked up where you can get a great sound for $25

Thoughts on customizing (as in painting) ocarinas? Like is it a great idea to customize a good quality plastic ocarina, or is it better to get a ready to customize ocarina?

Wait what? You played in a Studio Ghibli concert? When? How? Can I see it? Was footage posted on youtube?
Studio Ghibli music is a personal milestone of mine when it comes to playing the Ocarina. I've been practicing the Merry Go Round of Life for a long time now. Ever since David Ramos dropped that cover video.

Yup! I sang in the choir for it and got to meet Joe Hisaishi in the process. Still friends with one of his staff members, who I've visited in Tokyo twice!

I think they both sound very nice and for the price point, you just can't go wrong! Just me being a little smart alec here...has it ever started to rain after you played the Song of Storms? 🤣

It rains so infrequently here in California, but I did play it around the time there were *huge* storms in February 🫢

@@AndyCormierYT Haha, that's actually kind of cute! It seems fitting to play it when it's raining. We've been going through a bit of a drought up here in Michigan ourselves. Funny thing is I had an Ocarina of Time livestream that I did earlier today, but it also decided to storm as well! I was afraid that if it kept thundering as loud as it was, that it would pick it up on the microphone. Luckily, this wasn't the case. But even more funny is that I learned the Song of Storms in that playthrough. Coincidence? Maybe!

Thanks! Sadly over here in Europe it's even more expensive to get than the Night by Noble (40 bucks + shipping)

Could you talk about the Oberon Gosling and other similar ocarinas to it?

I have this ocarina and the mr.mute and can get it working. Does anyone else have this issue, or is it me?

In this video both the night by noble and the story plastic, I can hear a bit of saliva. Is this a results issue with ocarinas?
