Zelda’s lullaby played on a potato. Nice!!
I saw this video just now and the ocarina is completely unavailable!
Cant stop listening to this, loved this song ever since i heard it in Ocarina of time many years ago.
I got an ocarina from my grandfather, but I can't find a similar one anywhere. It's shaped like an infinity sign and quite big
Is it better the thoman edelweiss?
If only songbird wasn't 30usd shipping to Europe
What I find cool are those who cannot only play the Ocarina but make their own and aim for something suited to their music (range, harmonies...)
I still got a looong way to go... I still struggle with higher notes (probably too worried about my neighbors to fully blow into the Ocarina) and I'm absolutely hopeless with the 12-hole Ocarina system, but I can play reasonably well on the English-style Pendants. I don't know if I can hope for my pinkies to ever become useful... (I cannot move them independently of their neighbors and they're about as agile as my toes).
Which ocarina are you using? Which ocarina do you think is the best to use for this song?
I'm not going to play something that looks like a pig's liver - they sound offal.....
The very first Ocarina I got was a 25€ one looking like the one from Zelda Ocarina of Time from Amazon (as a gift from my mom). After quite a while I bought one from STLOcarina and it sounds way way better than the cheaper one 🙈 (bought the dragon head looking)
I agree with you! STL Ocarina makes better ocarinas.
Am I the only one whose cheap Zelda ocarina doesn't sound neither bad nor out of tune?
Been learning the ocarina and looking for songbooks. The only problem I have been running into is that they are all written in tabs instead of sheet music. Does anyone know of a zelda songbook that ISN'T in tabs?
I just ordered my triple chamber Ocarina and i am so excited to play flute music with it
I honestly just bought my second ocarina and i really understand the last reason lksnlfew. Like, as soon as I bought that second one, it unlocked something in me. I want more so bad.
The Night by Noble actually causes me some wrist pain when i play it for a long time. it might be bad posture because i'm new to playing? but i got the replica of Melody's ocarina from Pokemon the Movie 2000 and i don't get wrist pain playing it at all, because the right hand is turned
So wait as someone who’s interested into getting an ocarina how would I know if I get a good one that’s in tune vs not. I don’t play instruments at all so I feel like it would to hard to know if the one I got was a dud or if I’m just having a skill issue with it. Edit: I can’t find these things anywhere online. I’ve looked on Amazon, Google, Facebook Marketplace, and EBay and can’t even find one with the same name. I think when you said you got the last you actually got the last one this company ever produced.
Interesting. so i could use my old 5dMii canon for webcam?
I'm a bit disappointed by the STL double max range pendant Ocarina. I have the regular max range pendant Ocarina and am very happy with it (and wish that they used that fingering system for other Ocarinas as well to have more of a selection). However, looks can be deceiving... It looks like at least one chamber is a perfect copy, but it's actually one hole short (only a dimple) and the other chamber has a different fingering pattern as they couldn't fit the holes on the bottom as the smaller chamber is attached to the ceiling. PS: STL could really attach a fingering chart to every Ocarina and explain a few things, such as why the new max range pendant has an additional hole... They don't even reply when you ask them about it!
I'm happy to hear more people acknowledging the pitfalls of standard productivity and life management advice for neurodivergents. Me 10 years ago would have been much better off realizing that kind of advice didn't fit and not wearing that glove. I also like how you recommended an alternative strategy, since the problem at hand is still a problem.
Brass player here, so I don't understand this whole breath curve thing. Do you mean a flat breath curve as in a breath curve that is even throughout, or that you play it flatter as you ascend the scale?
This helped me pick one thank you
My boss bought me one of these. I was super excited and came home , learned a major scale. As soon as I went to play a high E I said “maybe I’m the problem” Nahhh
I love your energy so much !! You're the best Andy ! You've inspired me to play ocarina, and you've given me great advice about which one to buy !! 😁😁
Hey Andy I was wondering if the NBN is still a good first ocarina or if something else might be better also It would have to be on Amazon
I cant take it seriously when you cant even play the instrument decent enough to use tonguing.
Thank you❤
I was getting a Night by Noble and accidently ordered the soprano version because it was cheaper, and it's too late to change my order 😭
Do you think silunkia store is trustable I just bought an amazon ocarina from them and I am scared I wasted my money
What does the H3 button do?
Might use 10 percent soon 👍
I knew I got scammed when after playing a song I didn’t instantly get teleported to a medieval temple entrenched inside the crater of an active volcano. Rats!
My Night by Noble says "Made in Korea" on the underside - is this different from other Night by Nobles? It has split-hand double holes.
Many "vendors" on Amazon are all one Chinese company with a ton of different accounts. Generally this is all alibaba level junk with major quality issues.
I love the first one. I must have it.💪🏾
Where to buy it, though? Unavailable on Amazon at the time of your original review and unavailable right now too😢
NBN will probably be my second 'real' ocarina. Not counting 3d prints or a cheap Awef I got used. Why not my first? I won't be taking the ceramic outside, will be wearing a neck strap and likely sitting playing cross legged on my bed mostof the time. Not wanting to being it outside will mean I only torture the neighbors with the poor sound and honestly, they deserve it, the public at large do not.
I suggest you try the V0N3 by EC. It got me into ocs, reason I picked it was the fact it was small, weighed only 35g (so about a dollar fifty with materials and crazy high electricity prices taken into account, probably about 70c in the US) took about 2 hours to print (though I ran my printer maybe too fast for a precision instrument, I'll probably do one at half the print speed and see how it turns out), it's can't play the highest notes very well but also requires very low, almost linear-flat breath pressure. Size of a soprano but has baffles in it which make it an alto, tested with a tuner all of the notes up to about the high E are in tune (they all may be if I print slower, get the seam just right and tweak a few settings), the only thing I have to compare it to is an Awef one and the VON3 hits and holds notes better in most cases. It's also pretty quiet, about half the volume of the Awef, so good to play at night. Get one printed, try it out. It's only 10 hole, but that's not a huge issue.
Glad you like it :) There is also a 12 hole AC and a Soprano C on printables and makerworld.
@@e.can3254 Using the same design? Also, did you design them? Edit, yep, you did, pfp and username checks out. I'll check out the 12 hole. Any recommendations for print settings other than what you have on the page? Using black PLA+, the low notes are great, but the highs are a bit airy, printer is a (modified, E3D hemera extruder, dual Z) ender 3V2, I guess slowing my print speed down to about 75mm/s (from 95mm/s, octoprint marlin) is a good place to start, yeah? PS, giving that soprano a go now, printing it fast, looks good in the slicer. Ever think of designing a multi chamber oc?
@@daviddavidson2357 Yeah, my designs. Just print it like the V0N3, use 5mm brim and you should be fine.
@@e.can3254 Thanks. It just finished printing, unfortunately something seems to have gone wrong with the labium, it seems to have been pulled in and deflected to the Y axis (I printed 45° but assume the widest part of the ocarina is on the X axis) which is an odd type of warping to have in PLA+, probably a result of me printing so fast in marlin. I'll give it another slow go another day. It looks amazing. Out of curiosity, would it be possible to design a ocarina where you insert the mouthpiece windway, voicing and labium after printing it as a seperate part, then use glue/ weld with solvent cement (ethyl acetate might work for this) the two parts together afterwards? This might be a good way to design 3d printed ocarinas whilst minimising wastage from failed prints. Have the parts which are often much smaller, but also critical to the function of the instrument print as a seperate part that is slotted in, tested and then if it works well, is glued/welded into place permanently. Also, on the topic of 3d printed wind instruments, I don't have the CAD ability to make it, but a 'compound whistle' would be cool. 8 to 10 whistles in a linear arrangement, with a singular mouthpiece with the same amount of holes to let air out of each whistle (8 or 10), each whistle would produce a different note, so chords would be possible on it by covering some holes with your fingers. Even the distance air has to travel to each whistle could be made equal by having a zig zag or helical pattern to the farthest whistle. It seems like something which would be hard to traditionally manufacture, but fairly easy to print. I assume it would sound like a high pitched pipe organ, maybe also take lungs of steel to play.
My third (not counting 3d printed ones, which got me into this) 'pro' oc will probably be that exact one from ICO, if I stick with playing for long enough. Have a cheap Awef currently, don't count it as being on my count of ocs, it does most notes okay but the breath pressure is stupid high for higher notes with a fine margin of okay and terrible. Have one of Hans Rotter's ocs coming from Germany, hopefully it'll arrive this week. Next will probably be a night by noble, just so I can take it outdoors in a pocket, when I can play well enough. Then one (probably a twin chamber) from Hickman at pure, then this thing.
Simply amazing. Lmao
Ohhhh Hm hmmm ❤❤❤❤🎉❤❤🎉😂❤😂🎉❤🎉😂😮😂🎉I
nahh bruh i just got an ocarina that i was excited about and its the exact one from this video 💀 edit: forgot to mention before seeing this i tried to learn song of healing and it sounded hella off
Reason I picked it up is because I looked up "3d printed instrumnent" and picked the first thing that could play music and didn't take days to print, only 2 hours. I liked the sound and got an okay (ish) ceramic Awef, I have a better OcarinaMusic (I'm not in the US so no STL stuff without paying for import duties, better to order from Thomann, who are reputable) on it's way. If you want to popularize it, don't mention Legend of Zelda, I mean I'm learning the music from it to get slightly proficient with it, though restricting it to that will greatly devalue it. Will probably move into celtic music when I get better at playing sharps, flats and high tempos. Then I'll play it outside of the house.
well...
i have just ordered an ocarina by STL and it's ceramic. i am just now realizing how fragile it could be and maybe not so beginner friendly, do you have any sort of advice?
It's very weird that they tune it 442hz
Is that the meme factory on your computer monitor? Brightness is a bit high, but sure looks like it. If so, you are definitely a man of culture.
For someone getting started in ocarina playing (really the only musical instrument I've had any interest in since I was about 10, so about 20 years ago) your work is excellent. However I hate TH-cam shorts, I'm not sure if these are in a main video, but if not, please put them into something that isn't designed for people with a measurable attention span.
I have an Ocarina Wind in Ac, and honestly, its pretty dang good for the price. Its a very easy playing Ocarina, is in tune, breathe curve is reasonable and its plays fairly well in the high notes
