I can’t tell you how many times someone approached me at a con or live performance with this ocarina and asked me “why do I sound so bad? what am I doing wrong?” I really hope people find this first. Thanks for making it Andy!
it's funny, because I have been struggling with a cheap Ceramic ocarina and a tuner, trying to get the pitch right, and my first thought was to ask David what I was doing wrong! =) Very glad I ran across this video by Andy!
Hey David... I got my first three Songbird Ocarinas for Christmas in 2020; a DragonTooth, a Bravura plastic ocarina in green, and an Osawa plastic ocarina in red. The DragonTooth is my new favorite! The colors and the way the finish interacts with the light is just beautiful... I really want the Songbird Zelda ocarina though (The 12 hole one, to compare to my STL Zelda ocarina)
You all prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
@Lochlan Vihaan I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Man! I should’ve known my ocarina was fake. When playing it, it wasn’t warping me anywhere, I couldn’t make it rain, Epona wasn’t responding…..and it didn’t sound right either.
It physically hurt to watch that ocarina shatter, and I'm not even sure why. Honestly, I don't mind having the "bad" one. I've been a huge Zelda fan for a long time, and i got the ocarina a bit over 2 years ago, when I was in a tough spot in my life. Its got emotional value, even if its got nothing for actual value. I might look into the better ones later, but for now I'm good with mine ♡
I completely agree. My first 12 hole ocarina was $20, plastic, airy, and very out of tune, but I love it to death. Similarly to you, mine has emotional value too, as I was also in a very hard time in life. I would be heartbroken to see it break. Even cheap, poor quality ocarinas should be protected, because there is always someone out there who will get joy out of it.
I can strongly recommend the STL replica as a good budget yet decent quality instrument. Looks beautiful in person, feels good to hold (for my lanky piano hands at least), and plays really nicely. STL has been a good bang-for-buck source for me personally. Although I haven't tried any others so my experience is limited.
My first ocarina was a Christmas present that my family got me, they didn't expect me to take it seriously so they bought the cheapest they could find XD Didn't take me long to move to something else once I was like, "Hmmm, this ocarina is terrible XD"
@@AndyCormierYT Even back then there was enough talk about the "OoC" to know that I could do better, and then got me a Songbird 7-hole that I still have and occasionally play!
Reading all these stories makes me glad I started with a good one - the STL OoT replica shown in this video. I'm kind of sad I sold it nowadays but at least a good-quality instrument went to someone for a cheaper than new price. My first serious Ocarina is gonna be the Water one from STL; the blue glow-in-the-dark one and the nature-y vine-design green one are pretty cool too, but I think the next step up for me after the water one will be their cheapest Porcelain one for $200 (because if I'm gonna spend $2,000 on an instrument I'd rather get a Synthstrom Deluge and Elektron Digitakt/Syntakt, or a Moog Matriarch). Anyone know if porcelain ocarinas are noticeably more durable than the ceramic ones? I've read the material is more durable in general but I'm not sure how it would translate to the form and shape of an Ocarina.
If you don't care about zelda, it's probably best to get a different one. I recommend a six hole pendant. The way you hold them is more comfortable imo than 12 holes because you don't have to torque your wrist awkwardly. If you still want a 12-hole, then a night by Noble would be a better bet. I have owned both the STL 12-hole Zelda, and a night by noble, and I find the night by Noble to be way more comfortable to play and hold. Does Zelda one was primarily designed with aesthetics in mind, remember this design came from a video game where it just had to look pretty, but that doesn't necessarily translate well to real world ergonomics.
I’ll definitely buy the stl version. Thank you for sharing! I tried playing the current one I have and I thought I sucked. I play the flute so when I tried playing the ohuhu brand I was disappointed how terrible I sounded haha
This was my first ocarina and as a way to get used to finger placements and how it works, I was happy with it. I am looking around for a good ocarina because of the troubles brought up at the start.
Watching that ocarina break, cheap or not, hurt my heart 😭 Really great video, and accurate from my experience. I somehow ended up with the cheap amazon one. I don't know who got it for me. But before that, I already owned the Song Bird one (several song bird ones in fact)! The sound difference is very pronounced. I definitely recommend them, but I'm very curious to try some of the other makers you've recommended, as I've never ventured from the former before!
I'm so glad you listed STLOcarina and Songbird as reputable manufacturers. Those are the two from whom I've bought several ocarinas (two twelve-hole OoTs, one seven-hole OoT, and a four-chamber pan flute ocarina). All of them have performed well for me the entire time I've had them.
I want an ocarina but the good ones are all to expensive for me to get just for a hobby. I want a cheap, good ocarina but after watching this it feels like they don’t exist. I would love recommendations on what to do.
The plastic Songbird is actually pretty great. It's inexpensive and mine is very well tuned. It does have a really weird breath curve in that the mid notes seem to require firmer breaths than the high notes, and it can be a tad cramped for those with bigger hands. I don't have a large collection of ocarinas by any means, just the Songbird Kokiri and a handmade clay 5-hole pendant, but I'm really loving the instrument.
My heart broke when that Ocarina got destroyed :'(. I have a very sentimental attachment to my cheap amazon ocarina. But in the near future I hope I can get a second one for good tuned sounds
Excellent vid, Andy! And thanks for the shoutout. Zelda is a wonderful gateway into music and the ocarina, but these low quality Amazon/eBay Zelda ocarinas only lead to frustration and disinterest. They should only be regarded as trinkets, not musical instruments. Zelda fans deserve better!
Hi, I've browsed your website, full of amazing passion. I look forward to getting one of your ocarinas one day. Just need practice with a basic one first.
$200 for a Spencer Zelda ocarina... My parents would say no, even though I'm such a huge fan of Zelda and I also believe Zelda fans deserve the best ocarinas they can get
I spent three hours taking a round sanding tool to the holes in my ceramic ocarina before I got it perfectly in tune. It’s still not at concert pitch, but it’s relative to itself now. I had to start at the bottom and grind away a bit at a time. 9 out of 12 holes had to be adjusted by significant margins. The high F was a whole tone flat, after all. But now I have a lovely gift that I can ACTUALLY play. I feel bad for anyone without excessive music training trying to make these corrections themselves. If I had gotten this for myself, I would have done more research first, but it was a gift and a Zelda one at that. I love everything Zelda. :) It was worth the effort to fix it rather than just put it on my shelf. It has pretty good tone.
like 10 yrs ago i bought that cheap Ocarina of Time and thankfully it was at least in tune with itself (interval wise) but it was out of tune and therefore clashed with the backing tracks i made for my zelda medley, so I got one from Spencer's Ocarinas and I love it!
Dropping the ocarina at the end gave me Mythbusters vibes LOL I bought my friend one of the crappy Amazon Ocarinas of Time like 4 years ago, thank god he never got into playing it
Gotta make the most of my high FPS cameras for SCIENCE haha. These ocarinas can be great if only for cosplay/decoration, but they're PROBLEMATIC for people taking the instrument seriously haha
I actually didn't know much about the Legend of Zelda at all I got a Chinese Ocarina as a gift and for a long time I was trying to figure out what it was I really wanted to play it but I couldn't eventually realizing that it's completely out of tune after taking it to a music professional Now I'm saving up for a blue clay Ocarina
Let's be fair, the $15 one is pretty good value. The STL is 4x the price, but it's not 4x worse on the quality. For most people who want one to fiddle with, the $15 is the only one they will ever need.
I bought one for fun but quickly learned I apparently can never play an ocarina lol. my brain doesn't want to work with it..try to lift one finger for one note and I can't NOT get the one next to it to also go up
I have the cheap one, and the low C on mine is literally a B and it hurts my soul, but it’s an ocarina of time, it’s a cool thing to have. I’m definitely gonna spend more money on a better ocarina though
Haha this is exactly the one I just got! I've been practicing for few hours now and honestly I like it. Maybe it's not the best one I could get but I already figured some ways to make the notes clearer (by playing around with the thumb positions). Even though it's bad I'm not going to play it professionally anyway but it's good to know that it's out of time
I really suggest STL Ocarina- they're lovely and cheaper than Songbird, and I was introduced to them at a con. Just bought my Oot one, and it's my second ocarina- eagerly waiting for it in the mail.
I have one of these. Only issues are with the high notes (they sound very quiet, the air pressure feels very weak on high notes) and the grip (yes the right wrist does twist and hurt after a minute). Otherwise it sounds okay but not great. I can get through most of Saria's Song with no issue except for the bridge leading up to the loop. My god is that part uncomfortable and off-sounding.
Still confused on which Amazon ocarinas to buy? I reviewed SEVEN more cheap ocarinas from Amazon (OcarinaWind and other vendors) to show why you should NEVER buy from untrustworthy brands - ALSO use code ANDY10 if you're shopping at Songbird! th-cam.com/video/RbqQ6E8Hg18/w-d-xo.html
Honestly, I just got into LOZ and my first game is BOTW, but I’ve always known of the series and loved the mystical/whimsical OST. I’d still take the $15-$25 one for display, but I’d also love a decently functional one. Thanks for the video dude.
I did buy this ocarina for decoration/cosplay purpose, but when I heard that my daughter trying to learn how to play on it and it sounds awful I suspected that it's out of tune and I need to buy another for her which is a real playable musical instrument. Ordered plastic STL ocarina, but meantime 3d printed one, which actually sounded clearer and overall better than the decorative ceramic one but still had some problems with high notes. Now eager to get a real instrument and hear how the quality ocarina should sound like. Thank you for your review and comparison.
I bought the ocarina in the thumbnail and quickly realized how off it was which ended with me here. Thanks for making the vid! Returning this piece of junk and I'll buy a better one.
Thanks for the video man, as a frustrated musician i looked at this exact ocarina and bought it thinking it was going to be afun time learning to play it at the same time i had a legend of zelda souvenir. I was really dissapointed when mine came REALLY off tune, then i watched this video and returned the crappy ocarina of time and ordered the plastic one, hope its good!
Well, after watching this video and looking around at my flooring that is just a textured concrete slab with the occasional rug here and there...I'm definitely in the market for a nice plastic ocarina!
If it's your first ocarina, good choice! However, a good Ceramic ocarina will make a HUGE difference compared to a plastic once you're well acquainted with the instrument
You can name any company you want. Slander and defamation is a knowing lie. Reviews and opinions are completely fine. Don't short your videos over free speech
As a zelda nerd i can state that the amazon one that u showed and said is bad yes it is im getting the stl one duh but the one u said isnt good looks more like the one from the game then the stl one
Hey Andy! I know this video is three years old, but I have an Ocarina horror story for you in 2023. I was trying to get an OoT replica. Originally, I was thinking of getting the plastic one from Songbird. However, there was a STL ceramic one that was on sale. I purchased it instead. Time passes, and it eventually arrives. To my shock and horror, however, it wasn't an STL. It was one of the cheap ones, like the one you destroyed. Your tips regarding these Ocarinas helped me discover I was being jipped. I'm returning it and getting a refund. Once that's done, I'm getting a Night by Noble. Thank you for bring your Ocarina knowledge out for people to not be tricked by cheap Ocarinas. You saved the day. ^^
Its wild, I could see the difference in the hole sizes as soon as you held them up! You can really see that it wasn’t fine tuned in the slightest 😅 clearly just punched and passed down the line which is unfortunate because it for sure has potential to sound decent!
Literally ordered the inexpensive one five minutes before finding this video, had to cancel the order and switch to STL's. That was a close call, thanks!
It kindof breaks my heart that my Ocarina of Time is out of tune. I actually do enjoy playing it, and in fact I've figured out how to play songs on it that I simply cant play in tune with a more expensive ocarina I got second hand from a friend, especially in the lower notes (the more expensive one has trouble with the smaller lower note holes). It's a true shame because I really do love how it looks sounds in the lower tones. I thought maybe it was just in a different key to my other ocarina but they're about the same size and while I dont have the original packaging or anything to confirm the second hand one does have AC stamped into the ceramic. I suppose I won't stop playing it, especially for those songs I cant play on my "better" ocarina but it still saddens me. Is there any way to correct the tuning? Maybe using a dremel to widen the holes or something? My dad is quite the handyman and we have dremel wheels for polishing gemstones such as Opals so slightly modifying ceramic isn't out of the question Edit: almost immediately after making this comment, I was practicing with my good ocarina and figured out some different fingerings which let me play those previously unplayable songs properly. So I guess my Ocarina of Time is useless now :( unless I can fix it
It's definitely sad that this OoT replica isn't a perfect instrument when it looks pretty good as a replica. It definitely is possible to re-tune it by making hole bigger and things like that, but be careful, be sure to sand the edges, and go one hole/note at a time
@@AndyCormierYT thank you for the fast reply! I wasn't sure if you actually read these. Is there any place I can take it to where they can re tune it? I have the tools, but dont know how to construct ocarinas myself so I worry that I might just make things worse. Or maybe somewhere I can get a guide to re tuning it myself so I have something to go off rather than hoping for the best winging it
It's all in the expectations. For 15/25 USD if you want to own something pretty, you don't need to spend more. But, if you want to play it, better go STL minimum. The others are for people who are serious on owning and collecting good instruments, also to play live.
i bought this ocarina at the mall for 25 and mine has the same box, but mine is more of the color of the STL and it sounds better than the one that was in your box of this ocarina. It may not sound the best but i still love it because i had this when i was 4 or 5 and i dropped it, when it shattered, my heart shattered, so i still love it
I literally just got the one you said not to get haha... I got it for like $10 so not too much of a loss... It seems to be somewhat in tune but it's very airy on the high notes
Thankfully, it's not like you're breaking the bank by getting one haha. I'm releasing a video this Friday on GOOD OoT replicas, if you're looking into grabbing a good one :)
I wish I would have seen this video earlier😅 I own a pretty similar ocarina like you bought on amazon (maybe it is the same because the case looks the same) and I always wondered why my high notes are so out of tune (if I try to play a high F it sounds like a kind of in tune E so it's not as bad as yours). I always thought that my technique was wrong. But it's not that bad because I only tried to learn the basics and now I don't really play on it anymore (too many other instruments yk😅). It's just a kind of decoration but this hand-shape stand is pretty bad. If you place the ocarina on it and you are just walking away, it (nearly) drops. Overall I am not mad because it was just 15 euros or even less (I don't remember). But I just need to look into the comments and I see that I'm by far not the only one😂 Thanks a lot for the video. Now I know that my technique is not bad but the instrument itself😅 Oh and by the way I dropped if after playing like two times on it. I forgot how that happend but there is only I tiny space which is know white because I small piece broke out of it😅 It was "only" on the carpet but even that damaged it like that. I kinda hated myself for that but after seeing your video I think it's fine😂
Hey, I at first was sad but then I realized that my ocarina, (the same from amazon) is meant to play really quiet. Like it changes an octave and it it’s completely in tune. Its a tricky thing… but listen to me, try to play it softer until the pitch shift from the hard blow that sounds weird and out of tune, to a melodic whistle. Hope this helps some of you.
I bought my Ocarina directly from the maker. I wanted to have hand-made. And I wanted to be counselled by a professional. In Tirol there is a very good maker. I wrote him an email about which Ocarina is the best for me. My first ocarina is from a music store. Sadly it broke. And i wanted the exact same. So I looked up a professional maker. If you buy music instruments. Doesn't matter which type: always go for hand-made and let yourself be counselled by professionals My ocarinas were never that expensive. The maker made a decent price. One maker, who is very good is Plaschke . And I recommend him. He is from Tirol. Good prices, good counselling and good ocarinas. Zelda has turned me into a passionate musician 21 years ago. I never owned a an ocarinas of time replica. And never held a plastic one in my hand. I always have a strap made of shoelace around my neck. Now I have also started bagpipe
There is an 25$ on amazon brasil as well. But also on STL ocarina website there is another by 25$ but maded by them. Which one is good for begginners? Could i buy the amazon one for start? I want to use it for make some game sounds for my game... but i have two options: 1= ocarina 2= casio keyboard that has ocarina preset as well...
All my friends who convinced me to learn ocarina have these cheap amazon ones. Then they got all upset at how beautiful the tone is from my $80 STL. Now I want a double ocarina!
Wow! I got out my tuner while you played the cheap amazon one, the "high C" was actually B5, while STL was perfectly in tune, while the STL F6 was almost perfect, the cheap one was D6#.... WHAT?!?!?! While theyre mostly the same shape, when you put them side by side at 08:17, you can tell the massive difference in fingering positions for the right hand. That's just insane. I got one of these amazon ocarinas a few months ago as my first instrument and thought I was doing well on it.... but then I checked it against the notes on an electronic piano I bought second-hand, and now I'm just gonna keep the ocarina as a cool cosplay prop. I'm considering filling the holes with putty so that nobody ever accidentally plays this atrocious excuse for an instrument. I only wish I could afford $100+ for an STL one.... if only they did sponsorships..... :P
Great and funny video. Thanks for saving me the trouble, I grew up playing Ocarina of time and my kids are into it too, it would be nice to get a good authentic replica and play for my kids. Also your Saria song was really nice, my daughter likes Epona's song.
My favorite Zelda songs are the Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass title themes, the file select theme from OoT, Majora's Mask and a few others (in OoT and Majora's Mask the file select theme is part of the song used in the Fairy Fountains), and the Song of Time
@@ZeldaACFan17 Ah good call, I love the song of time. By the way, I ordered an STL ocarina and it just arrived half an hour ago. Sadly, it arrived broken :/
@@ZeldaACFan17 I notified the seller and he's sending another one, this broken one, I've glued it together. I don't know if I need practice or if the sound is broken. Guess I'll have to wait til the new one arrives.
Games too hard I don't know it's not hard it's taking me too long I'm on the 3DS version I'm already 40 hours in and I haven't beat the game and I'm not going for 100% and it's my first Zelda game I'm more of a Mario fan
I bought the ocarina 3 days ago and it's literally here I want to learn how to play it and when I feel confident enough I'll get a better ocarina and keep this one since it's such a beautiful replica of the Zelda one.
i actually have a custom made one i got from a high school friend yeaaars ago we were in like 11th grade and he had like 4 of em and he gave me one even gave me sheet music for it too i cant find the sheet music but i have the ocarina on my display and it sounds amazing
I got a different ocarina for $20 also on Amazon when I was sick and tbh I don’t mind it being off (granted it is closer than the other one) I just like playing with it sometimes to cheer me up
This was bought for me when I was younger as a decoration, but when it arrived the entire mouthpiece was shattered to pieces in the box lol. I glued it all back together and I still have it, but I never tried to play it bc i have no interest in actually playing ocarinas
It makes me wonder what it would've sounded like the first time it broke and part of the end was missing. Also, I wonder if the reason it shattered so easily the second time was because the structural integrity had already been compromised. I wonder if it would've completely shattered that easily had that been the first drop and not the second. I don't think I'd want to try it though just because it's sad to see it suffer, even if it was out of tune. My best friend has one of these Amazon ones and realized that it's out of tune, now she wants to get a better one. I hope she does because Ocarina of Time is her favorite game and she holds it close to her heart.
I just got to the last level of oot in 2022. I couldn't complete it In '96 when I had it before. Both my kids are so into OOT - Jabu jabu's belly, dampe, so many characters. Such a great story that they love. Now they want me to get an occarina and play the song of storms. Thanks for this video I nearly dropped money on amazon. £100 dollars is seriously far too.much, unless its hand made or something. These things are machined.
I'm sad. My dad got me this exact one for Christmas. I don't want to tell him to return it because I don't want him to feel bad about it. What should I do?
That first box you showed with link and harp person, was LITERALLY my first ocarina. My was green tho. IT SOUNDED SO BAD. i legit bought ANOTHER from STL and i love it so much
wow- my parents gave me EXACTLY that amazon ocarina to my birthday and i tried to learn how to play on it so many time without success AND NOW I JUST FOUND OUT THAT YOU CAN'T ACTUALLY PLAY ON IT TwT anyways thanks for that video now i finally know what the hell I'm doing wrong - nothing. the ocarina is just not the right one ._.
Thanks for making this! My ADHD took over and now im determined to learn how to play an ocarina lol, and I almost grabbed this one after seeing somebody play the STL and not realizing this was a replica. But the price made me second guess it. Gonna definitely grab the Night by Noble instead
The first one you got I have I know it might be bad I know but it’s from Christmas and I still love it to my death and I’m still learning how to play it
now I've leant one thing and got one question -I see now why they said my ocarina sounded weird, thanks for letting me know cus I have that exact 20 dollar model -how in any chance did the ocarina did not break when Majora/Skull kid dropped it?
Great video. Thank you for explaining the differences. I ordered one from Spencer about a year or two ago, but I still haven't received it yet 😔. I'll look into ordering from Songbird next. Do you recommend an Alto C or Tenor F ocarina?
I bought this to see how it would feel to play an ocarina, to see if it is something worth spending more money on. I wanted something to cheap to get a first "hands-on" experience. At first I understood that something was wrong because the sound would sound pretty different from the video to the one that I heard from my ocarina, after a few tries I understood that it is probably not my playing but the ocarina itself and then your video verifies it. I do not regret for buying this, since I now realized that it is something that piqued my interest and I am now willing to spend more money on. If I did not like ocarina as a "concept" during hands on, I would have just wasted 12 euros and that is ok, now I can buy a more expensive one and give this one as a present muhahaha. Thanks for the vid :D
I can’t tell you how many times someone approached me at a con or live performance with this ocarina and asked me “why do I sound so bad? what am I doing wrong?” I really hope people find this first. Thanks for making it Andy!

0:32 dang... the third one is the exact one I bought like an hour ago why
noooooooooooo
Same mine doesn’t sound that bad tho
Boi I ordered this exact ocarina now I'm kinda confused
why
Exactly mine sounds fine at least to me
Hope you get lucky
I am not a zelda fan, i just want me a small wind instrument to mess about with xD.
Mad respect for the Zelda fans of course :)
same haha
15:20 when Zelda threw the OoT into the river... lmao
This time there was no water to soften the landing...
Andy Cormier Ikr! Zelda’s aim basically saved Hyrule is all I’m sayin

*me owning that very ocarina* hAhA, im in danger
I own it too
I GOT AN AD AT THE MOST PERFECT TIME-
“So, the clear winner is-“
It’s crispy 😳
It’s creamy 😏
It’s Kinder Bueno 🤤
I’ll definitely buy the stl version. Thank you for sharing! I tried playing the current one I have and I thought I sucked. I play the flute so when I tried playing the ohuhu brand I was disappointed how terrible I sounded haha
Awesome! The STL one isn't my #1 favorite Zelda replica, but it's a great instrument and by far has the best value among the Zelda replicas
This was my first ocarina and as a way to get used to finger placements and how it works, I was happy with it. I am looking around for a good ocarina because of the troubles brought up at the start.
Watching that ocarina break, cheap or not, hurt my heart 😭
Really great video, and accurate from my experience.
Thank you. Now I have strong excuse for bad playing :)
Your skill is most important, but a good instrument is essential!
I have the crap one and I always wondered why my high notes are trash. ..
Too Fun-Knee 🤣🎶😖🧐
I want an ocarina but the good ones are all to expensive for me to get just for a hobby. I want a cheap, good ocarina but after watching this it feels like they don’t exist. I would love recommendations on what to do.
The plastic ocarinas from STL are great. I have one and it is beautiful.
Get black by noble
Dropping the ocarina at the end gave me Mythbusters vibes LOL
I bought my friend one of the crappy Amazon Ocarinas of Time like 4 years ago, thank god he never got into playing it
Gotta make the most of my high FPS cameras for SCIENCE haha.
These ocarinas can be great if only for cosplay/decoration, but they're PROBLEMATIC for people taking the instrument seriously haha
Currently waiting for my Ocarina, so I'm binge watching people unbox ocarinas.
I actually didn't know much about the Legend of Zelda at all I got a Chinese Ocarina as a gift and for a long time I was trying to figure out what it was I really wanted to play it but I couldn't eventually realizing that it's completely out of tune after taking it to a music professional
Now I'm saving up for a blue clay Ocarina
My first ocarina was one of those. I quickly realised that I was playing right, the problem was in the ocarina
Yeah... That's me right now....
Let's be fair, the $15 one is pretty good value.
The STL is 4x the price, but it's not 4x worse on the quality.
For most people who want one to fiddle with, the $15 is the only one they will ever need.
I was just about to buy this so thanks for showing me the correct path to getting a higher quality ocarina.
I bought one for fun but quickly learned I apparently can never play an ocarina lol. my brain doesn't want to work with it..try to lift one finger for one note and I can't NOT get the one next to it to also go up
Try a couple of Stoli Shots first! 🤪🤩🎶
Me holding the ocarina in the video currently: 😬
I love STL Ocarinas... I recently got a Songbird DragonTooth though, and my goodness... It's so beautiful
@@ZeldaACFan17 I would love to get some of the fancier ones. Who knows, maybe even a custom one day.
The Amazon ocarina sounds like me remembering what an ocarina playing Sarai’s song sounds like
I'm just going to stand over here, as someone who watched Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon, who loved Tapion who played an ocarina.
I appreciate you
@@AndyCormierYT thank you for your kind words, and your very informative video.
Still confused on which Amazon ocarinas to buy? I reviewed SEVEN more cheap ocarinas from Amazon (OcarinaWind and other vendors) to show why you should NEVER buy from untrustworthy brands - ALSO use code ANDY10 if you're shopping at Songbird!
th-cam.com/video/RbqQ6E8Hg18/w-d-xo.html
why will my subtitles identify the Amazon song as music and the STL won't?
I have a good one
Idk, I got that same ocarina. It plays beautifully and hits high notes like a charm... maybe mine was crafted differently?
Could have been a different manufacturer. A lot of them have the same packaging on Amazon but they are made by different people.
One thing I've noticed with the Amazon ocarina is that it becomes airy real quick, preventing players from reaching high notes properly.
Honestly I just bought it to have it on display and to play for tone deaf friends 😂
🤣 I be impressed
When can I come over?
My friend bought this exact same $3 ocarina. I learned two songs on it so far, with no problems. It sounds good, too.
For a lot of people even £15 is a lot for an ocarina
I have been interested in ocarina and plan to buy a ocarina today, this video was very helpful, entertaining, and enjoyable. Thank you!
i got my stl ocarina when i was 13, im 23, and the ocarina is still beautiful and working perfect!
I ALSO got my STL @ 13. Still works great at 24~
As a zelda nerd i can state that the amazon one that u showed and said is bad yes it is im getting the stl one duh but the one u said isnt good looks more like the one from the game then the stl one
If you want one that REALLY looks like the game, try Songbird!
This is pretty pog now I know info that helps me when I come to buying a Ocarina
Was zur Hölle ist bei dir los?!?
There’s a wood ocarina on Amazon, is it worth it
Literally ordered the inexpensive one five minutes before finding this video, had to cancel the order and switch to STL's.
My dad is quite the handyman and we have dremel wheels for polishing gemstones such as Opals so slightly modifying ceramic isn't out of the question
Edit: almost immediately after making this comment, I was practicing with my good ocarina and figured out some different fingerings which let me play those previously unplayable songs properly.
But I just need to look into the comments and I see that I'm by far not the only one😂
Thanks a lot for the video. Now I know that my technique is not bad but the instrument itself😅
Oh and by the way I dropped if after playing like two times on it.
Funny I got this video in my recommendations the day I got that exact one from amazon
Doesn't matter which type: always go for hand-made and let yourself be counselled by professionals
My ocarinas were never that expensive.
I want to use it for make some game sounds for my game... but i have two options: 1= ocarina
2= casio keyboard that has ocarina preset as well...
The sound of the Amazon Ocarina breaking is more beautiful than playing it
All my friends who convinced me to learn ocarina have these cheap amazon ones.
If you get their plastic ocarinas, those are amazing too. I love my plastic OoT from STL.
@@DrawingTechnical Oh no...!
I have and adore this ocarina. It’s a gift from my grandma, yeah it sounds a little off on high notes but it’s still ok.
I bought the ocarina 3 days ago and it's literally here
I want to learn how to play it and when I feel confident enough I'll get a better ocarina and keep this one since it's such a beautiful replica of the Zelda one.
i actually have a custom made one i got from a high school friend yeaaars ago
we were in like 11th grade and he had like 4 of em and he gave me one
even gave me sheet music for it too
i cant find the sheet music but i have the ocarina on my display
and it sounds amazing
The high notes on mine sound like a wind tunnel and its not me, i can play my song bird and cant replicate how windy this one sounds.
IT SOUNDED SO BAD. i legit bought ANOTHER from STL and i love it so much
thanks for telling me this, even though I just got my Ocarina from Amazon which is this exact same thing, at least I know I'm not causing the problem.
wow- my parents gave me EXACTLY that amazon ocarina to my birthday and i tried to learn how to play on it so many time without success AND NOW I JUST FOUND OUT THAT YOU CAN'T ACTUALLY PLAY ON IT TwT anyways thanks for that video now i finally know what the hell I'm doing wrong - nothing. the ocarina is just not the right one ._.
I think I'm still gonna get it because I'm just starting and I think I'll work my way up also because its cheap and I'm poor
Thanks for making this! My ADHD took over and now im determined to learn how to play an ocarina lol, and I almost grabbed this one after seeing somebody play the STL and not realizing this was a replica. But the price made me second guess it. Gonna definitely grab the Night by Noble instead
I really wish I saw this sooner I ordered this exact ocarina on Sunday and got it today and I’ve already taken it out of the box and everything
The first one you got I have I know it might be bad I know but it’s from Christmas and I still love it to my death and I’m still learning how to play it
as a sax player who just bought one of these 20 minutes ago without any research.....is hoping for luck XD
now I've leant one thing and got one question
-I see now why they said my ocarina sounded weird, thanks for letting me know cus I have that exact 20 dollar model
-how in any chance did the ocarina did not break when Majora/Skull kid dropped it?
I've already gotten used to holding a 7 hole songbird plastic ocarina. Will that help me hold a 12 hole ocarina?
I’m clumsy so I’ll probably stick to my good plastic ocarina. Thank you for your videos.
I bought this, shipped it back, and received every penny I spent on it back. Now I have plastic ones and they work just fine.
This video is amazing and your ocarina skills are awesome, and I’m glad everything you did was amazing. Have a good day
I don’t know why but for some strange reason I couldn’t stop laughing when he dropped The ocarina a second time
