I am a professional ocarina maker and wanted to give my input to the video. The ocarina is a simple and easy instrument to make, but just as well it can be simple and easy to make a wine, what differentiates one ocarina from another is the time and quality control dedicated to each one. For my customers to have confidence in my work I have to always maintain a quality standard and offer a guarantee on tuning, timbre, sound volume and finish, maintaining the same quality in each ocarina is difficult, because the clay is a material that changes throughout the process of elaboration.
Exactly! Anybody with hands and a popsicle stick could make a (basic, non-fired) ocarina themselves within an hour and technically meet the definition of an instrument, but it takes significant craftsmanship to make ocarinas at a consistent standard of quality. The fact some brands simply don't value that quality control is a major issue for the perception of the instrument, so thank you for your efforts to ensure quality in your ocarinas!!

Why in gods name does everything online shopping today require a rabbit hole research for several weeks, to find out, which companies try to screw you up? Clothing, instruments, cameras, computer parts, electronic, heck even underwear! Everything is falling apart right now, even high prices don't offer quality anymore. It's like everything is going to hell...
There are some very good videos that explain that yes .. most stuff is going to hell because we want it cheap and often disposable. Another problem for us in the West is that many of the good ocarinas are made in the east. So you go down a research rabbit hole and finally find good ocarinas at prices you won't like. Example: The nicer steins and the aketas. ocarinawind had a quality control problem. I bought 3 .. two were good, one was not and it was obvious they were made by two different manufactures. I don't think I ever bought a plastic ocarina (with exception of mountain ocarina) that sounded good. Not sure what Night by Nobel is made from .. And almost all ocarina players want one that will wake the dead. Loud and Louder! I liked the relatively flat breath pressure of the Night by Nobel , but at the breath pressure I wanted to use .. it was a B ocarina, not a C ocarina. Same with the mountain ocarina. So I switched to recorders and whistles. :(
I bought the "forest whisper" from ocarina wind a few years back and the breath curve always seemed a bit of to me. Back then I just wanted to see if I would stick to practicing, before getting a more expensive instrument. Though I do like my ocarina and do not regret my decision, I totally agree that if you are serious about learning the ocarina it is better to get a good plastic one to start.
Glad I found this video. Was about to buy me that "Forest Whisperer" one but you've convinced me to check out Night by Noble's stuff and it looked a lot better. Can't wait till the ocarina arrives!
My first ocarina was an OcarinaWind ceramic, "Ocean Waves" it had similar issues to the ones you tested. If I hadnt realized that my instrument just wasnt on par, I may have given up. However, thanks to your videos, I was able to purchase the night by noble and continue playing. While that ocarina may have not been the greatest quality, I was still able to learn on it and start up my passion for ocarina. It will still have a place in my heart as the starting line for a great ocarina journey! Thanks again for all your videos, and happy tooting!
My first was the all black NIGHT by Noble and I've had it for about 5 years now. I love it, probably the best value on the market full stop until you decide to spend 100s on an actual professional grade ocarina.
It's a great showcase of the playability of an ocarina! A well-designed ocarina (or at least, an ocarina that is natural for *you*) should feel natural and smooth even when you have large jumps in notes, and the high notes should be clear. Song of storms is the perfect song to stress-test this, provided you've practiced with an ocarina enough to intuitively feel what each note should feel like in your breath. And, of course, it's the Zelda fan in me :)
I saw your cheap OOT video a while back and from that I knew not to get a replica ocarina. I ended up buying one of these cheap ceramic ocarinas, and it was decent but had an awkward breathy sound and seemed flat. Within a month of that I got a night by noble and love it
Videos can be misleading. You have to really try the instrument out to know what you're getting. Jubos come with a guarentee. We've made over 7000 and no one has ever returned one.
I've got a few Ocarina Wind ocarinas just because they're a cheap way to fill in my collection. Your experience with the dragon tooth model fits my own, it's kinda in tune but very wonky to play. I have the Forest Whisper and Ocean Wave ones that are pretty okay. Almost as good as my STL ocarinas. They're basically my go to for when I want a ceramic with me but would worry about breaking them. Quality control is most likely random at best, which has been my experience with low cost Chinese made instruments on Amazon in general. I have an amazingly good soprano saxophone that I will be first to admit that I won the cheap instrument lottery on, but I also have a cheap tenor that kinda proves the soprano was a fluke.
Thanks for the additional insight! My biggest issue is that if there are quality control issues greater than a small %, I simply won't buy from or recommend the brand. For example, STL has very low % quality control issues (I've seen a case where someone's ocarina didn't have a hole in the mouthpiece making it unplayable), but I recommend them *sometimes,* since they do have the best-priced OoT replica and some great instruments in their selection In the case of OcarinaWind, I only see them as, like you said, a cheap way to fill a collection. They're definitely pretty ocarinas, but I absolutely cannot trust their ocarinas as musical instruments given the quality control problems
Jubos don't break. You can run a pickup truck over them and they'll still play fine. Yet as touch as they are, they are lighter and easier to hold than ceramics.
I am so shocked because I bought an Ocean Waves ocarina from Ocarina Wind, recommended by another professional ocarina player youtuber, and I absolutely love it. Maybe I lucked out but I am incredibly impressed with it.
I got the ceramic Zelda one (10:57) for a present, and I had to drill almost all the holes larger to make it play in tune and match the key of C. It was rough and way too much work. I love my Night by Noble.
You’re a far better person than I, I wouldn’t have even tried to fix the ocarina of crap 🫡 There’s a reason I keep promoting the NBN! It’s the most consistently good plastic ocarina I’ve used
@@AndyCormierYT I've had mine for 5 years now, you will have to pry it from my cold dead hands. The Night ocarina is bar none, the ONLY solution in my opinion for new aspiring musicians who aren't going to drop big money on a custom job.
Just a clarification: "Night" IS an ocarina maker, but they don't make the plastic Night by Noble ocarina. As its name implies, the plastic Night by Noble is a Noble design, and the maker "Night" is virtually unrelated. Edit: Fixed some wording
I just got my Ocarina Wind ‘forest whisper’ in the mail today. I’m actually pretty happy with it I got one ‘used - like new’, ended up being like $23. I’m happy at that price. I had to put a flashlight to it to notice that ‘seam’ you were talking about, so maybe I got lucky with a good one. High notes seem to come pretty easily, but low notes seem to be pretty picky about how much breath they want. Everything plays well and in tune enough that if I can’t learn on this, I have no reason to get a more expensive one, but I think I’ll enjoy it. I mostly play stringed instruments, the only woodwind I played regularly before this is a penny whistle, but they are fairly diatonic in nature. This is much quieter and less shrill than a penny whistle, I’m pretty excited!
I'm glad you got a good model! These ocarina brands CAN make decent ocarinas that play in tune, but the bigger issue is quality control. If there's a high chance the ocarina has problems + these are the most affordable ocarinas on the market, there's a VERY high chance this is someone's first ocarina, they get a bad one, then they give up on learning the instrument. That said, I'm very happy for anyone who gets a problem-free instrument from them
@@AndyCormierYT haha I spoke a bit too soon. Once I started playing a bit more complicated stuff I realized how out of tune the upper register was. C through G played in perfect tune, but from A and up it got progressively more flat to the point that high F was Closer to D# than E, let alone F. So very much not ‘problem free’, but I’m good at solving problems, and proceeded to meticulously bore out the bad holes with sand paper until everything was up to pitch and playing correctly. It took some doing, but now it actually is a decent instrument and I was finally able to play my favorite Zelda tunes lol. I played too much though and that strawfire smell kinda makes me sick now, so I ended up ordering one of your recommended plastic ones anyways 😅🫣
I remember back in 2018 buying an Ocarinawind Ocarina of time and being disheartened that I couldn't play right. It feels so uncomfortable holding it but I thought it was just how ocarinas are. I bought a proper 6 hole after that and was blown away by the difference in sound and quality. I've just gotten the Awef 12 hole for Christmas and my husband wanted me to test play it beforehand. I have to say it does sound much better and the thinner body feels so much better to hold.
Well I just found out this is where I got my first ocarina from and now I’m pissed! I thought that the sound was because I was a newbie, damnit. (For context, the high notes are just as bad as in the video and the breath patterns are impossible to decipher)
I bought the forest wind as my first ocarina and i personally think its good, although im not a reliable source lol. It is very pretty though, and i think it would be a good beginning ocarina
Darn. I just bought the Woodi Plastic Ocarina and noticed I couldn't hit the highest notes and I really struggled to get the breath pressure correct. I wasn't sure if these problems were because I was beginner or not. Glad to know it wasn't just me. Thanks for the tips, these were super helpful. Exchanging it now for a Night By Noble.
My mom bought me an amazon ocarina for Christmas and I'm kinda just living with it cause I'd feel bad getting a better one since my mom was nice enough to get me one in the first place
As a parent I feel like if my kid bought an upgrade to a gift and framed it that the gift inspired them to dig deeper and get into the craft - that would make me happy with it still. I wouldn't hold yourself back on upgrading. You don't have to *get rid of* the old one
Generally speaking they’re pretty good instruments, but some of STL’s models more about looks than playability, so while they’re in tune, the ergonomics are off. It mostly depends on which ocarina you’re looking at buying.
I bought the same one as 10:20 the ocarina of time replica , but It came in a bag pouch wrapped in bubble wrap, glad it didn't break as it was a gift to a friend who doesn't play it just leaves it as a decoration
Never had a bad experience with them personally. That said, many of their ocarinas prioritize the novelty aesthetic over ergonomics or playability, so I generally don't buy from them
Ocarina Wind ocarinas CAN be good, but it's a roll of the dice. They're certainly *more* reliable than a lot of cheap ceramic vendors, but I can't say they're reliable overall. If you're more interested in dipping your toes into the ocarina to see if it's for you, I'd recommend a good plastic one like the Bravura by Focalink on Songbird Ocarina
My first ocarina sucked and I returned it. The one I just got which just so happened to be the Strawfire from OW. I hardly know anything about breath pressure. So does this mean I should return it and just take the Night by Noble Ocarina like I originally planned.
You CAN get good ocarinas from OW and other Amazon-only cheap brands, the bigger issue is poor quality control-you have a very high chance of getting bad ocarinas from these brands
Glad it was helpful! OcarinaWind isn't the *worst* maker out there, but their quality control is certainly not great, either. Would definitely recommend Focalink/Stein or Imperial City for affordable ceramics. You can also get many Focalink/Stein ocarinas through Songbird (use code ANDY10 for a discount!) Otherwise, I think everybody should start with a good plastic!
Hey Andy! Thanks for a great video. I'm super interested in a further review in a few of the brands you mentioned and a few other plastics. I'll try to send you a DM :) You made an awesome video, super informative and entertaining.
I’m definitely down to go more in-depth with some of them-though to be fair, the reviews in the video aren’t “first impressions,” I did several tests on scales, breath pressure, and the like, trying to make each ocarina sound right, so I don’t know if there’s too much more to say other than specific reviews to stop people from buying these brands when they Google them
On that note, I have considered making single-ocarina review videos of everything in my collection that I haven’t covered yet. Basically a 3-8ish minute video for each individual instrument
I recently picked up "The Shadow." From STL ocarina. It sounds so much better than my 30 dollar Ocarina Wind brown one. Its also a Bass C so it plays a little quieter.
I have an Ocarina Wind in Ac, and honestly, its pretty dang good for the price. Its a very easy playing Ocarina, is in tune, breathe curve is reasonable and its plays fairly well in the high notes
is it normal for your left pinky hole only note with no thumbs to be kinda hard to get solid sound out of? Just like the strawfire alto C in your video.
Are there any wooden ocarinas you’d recommend (and not over$100)? And any cute little one to wear around the neck as both a pendant and decent musical instrument?
@Andy Cormier Where would you recommend me buying an Ocarina online? I have been looking for an Ocarina for so long ever since I was a child because of the game Legend of Zelda Also I live in the Philippines and we do have Amazon but maybe you have other recommendations
10:00 I bought one of these as my first Ocarina and literally gave up because I couldn't make a decent sound. It was so discouraging that I waited about two years to purchase another one.
Hey so I know this is an old vid but I got a Songbird Ocarina from a con a while ago, (7 hole version OoT plastic replica) is this one still fine to just to dick around with and have fun? (For reference I have never learnt an instrument before)
The songbird 7 hole is unique but not bad! I personally don't really like its finger layout other than for the novelty, but it's a perfectly playable instrument
I bought one of those dark blue ceramic Zelda OoT replicas a week ago, but not from Amazon, even worse, from AliExpress 😂. I did it because it was only $8 bucks so I figured I'd buy it even if it ended up being a decoration. Well, to my surprise, even though it's NOT in tune, it's pretty much in tune with itself and it plays all the notes just fine. I'm learning on it and I'm already playing a lot of songs. Having said that, I already ordered a few better ones from STL that I'm expecting in the mail
I got one of those out of tune ocarinas of time and while the notes didn't match what they had in their booklet i was able tonfigure out songs on their with my own finger patterns and I loved it. But then I lost it, and if I get a new one the same patterns probably wont match the notes :(
I have a question How can you tell if one if fake on Amazon bc they all have good reviews I bought a night by noble one on Amazon but I didn't know if it was fake
Hello, thank you very much for your detailed description of the instruments. Unfortunately, I already ordered two before I saw your video. Anyway thx a lot 🗡️ PS I love Zelda Zelda should be part of every childhood 😊 Play the Ocarina on Zelda Guys 😀
Mine came from Yun express meaning they all come from China (the cheap ones). I ordered 3 of the same ocarina for my nephews. One was off key… so it truly depends as some are hit and miss. For the price, easy to order a new one. They’ll all be easy to learn on if they’re in tune. But it is a cheap enough instrument to get a higher quality one to learn on too.
I bought one of the ocarina of time ones a while ago, and only ended up watching your video after it came! just ordered a new one but maybe I should do a little more research...
Okay, let me just stop you right at the beginning. Does the public have any perception of the ocarina at all? I feel like you could ask lots of people what it is, and they wouldn't know. The Zelda themed ocarina's are just one of those things that a lot of people will buy, and they will learn valuable life lesson and then they'll see this video a decade later
Focalink is generally regarded as a really great ocarina brand to buy from. Just make sure you buy from one of their vendors so you don’t have to pay the insane shipping costs.
I have one my dad brought home from Europe at the end of WW-II. It is ceramic and Dark Navy in color with a few gold paint appointments and only 8 holes. That makes it over 80 years old. I've never learned how to play it, so I keep it as a "Keep-Sake" seeing as how my father is no longer with us.
That's amazing! I've seen those ocarinas floating around on Facebook marketplace. Would you be able to send me a pic via email or IG? I'd love to identify the model and see if I can track one down
@@AndyCormierYT There was one just like it when I did a google search and went through all the "images". Many looked like it but only one or two had the same markings. It has a "C-13" stamped on the mouth-part. Another stamp says "Made in Austria". Another word I can hardly make out is "Vianna" in that same gold painted oval stamp on the bottom. Sorry but I am not good a getting a picture on my cell phone and then get it into my computer so I can post it. The nose and tail both have a similar gold flower-like appointment painted on. Good luck.
Jubo offers woodgrain models in rosewood, burl and redwood. You should never buy a wood pendant ocarina because once you play you can't get the moisture out of the inner cavity. Eventually it will warp and crack. Not with a Jubo. Comes with a 10 year guarantee.
I bought the ceramic OoT one from Amazon and idk it's good enough for me. I'm not looking to play in front of an audience or anything just wanted a fun little instrument to learn and toot around with when I have idle time or my adhd brain is bouncing around. Nice to know the times it sounds off it's not necessarily me though.
I have a few OcarinaWind ocarinas. Two strawfire ones and the "Ocean Wave" one. I just got them because I wanted some variety in my ocarina collection. I'm up to 36 ocarinas now, the majority being STLs, but I do have some Songbirds, Focalink/Stein ocarinas, and a Night by Noble as well. Sometimes a lower price doesn't mean getting a bad ocarina, although my OcarinaWind ones aren't as high quality as my STLs or my Songbirds. O.W. is okay, just not up there with the big names.
@@thejubetube279 I looked on your site, but I'm not very familiar with pendant style ocarinas 😞 I like transverse style ocarinas more, because they're the classic ocarina shape, like the one from Zelda, and the linear fingering pattern of transverse ocarinas is easier for me than the pendant fingering pattern. 12-hole transverse style ocarinas are my favorite 😊
I got the dark blue ceramic one first as I wanted it for a decoration. But I tried to play a song or two. First I thought my out of tune notes were because I never played anything on Ocarina... But some of them are definitly because it is a very low quality one. So yes, of you want to play music with your ocarina, don't buy this 😅. + I think it is from dropshipping methods. + the dark blue design has been stolen from an artisan I think. They re doing this too with clothing etc.
To all the reviewers here. A Zelda ocarina is better suited for "Legend" repertory. The Jubo only plays an octave so you're better off with a Zelda model. But to be fair, when buying off the internet you have no idea how these Zelda instruments play. Jubos are guaranteed for 10 years and you can return them for any reason whatsoever for your money back. We've made over 7000 and no one has ever returned one as of this writing.
I just learned the word ocarina today. They're funny little things. Idk why I'm here but it's the middle of the night, I let the algorithm take me where it wants

So it's honestly very helpful to know which one you tried, because you've saved me from a bad purchase.
This Zelda ocarina is produced all by the same maker from the same factory… it’s hundreds of different companies that order from them and some sell on Amazon. Some sell and ship from Mainland China right to the customer, and others purchase first and then sell around the world. But those blue Zelda ones are ALL made in the SAME factory… and some just turn out like crap because they are NOT hand made.
I got all of my ocarinas from OcarinaWind YEARS ago. I have the straw fire and the dragons tooth, but I got them almost 9 years ago. but they are way better quality than the ones in this video, and they all had different carrying bags not cases. but I got an Ocarina of time double replica for a birthday present 6 years ago... yeah it sucks, my 3D printed one I made works way better than it. all my other ocarinas are from Songbird they are just as good as my old ocarinawind
I got an AWEF one brand new in box for under the usual price from a charity store on ebay. Hasn't arrived yet, don't think STL sell here, but $15 equivalent isn't that bad. Not sure if it's the same as the one you have, though " joy of thrush" isn't a good name for anything, I don't think many women find a yeast infection enjoyable.
Yeah, a few ocarinas from the low-cost vendors WILL be in-tune and without problems. The biggest thing is quality control, hence why I reviewed 7 to show the majority of these vendors send ocarinas with problems

You mean the scale he plays at the timestamp?? Or the song that follows like ten seconds after the timestamp? It's the song of storms, by the way, from ocarina of time.

The recorder has the same problem in the US because of cheap sopranos being played poorly by schoolchildren... I have the plastic one from OcarinaWind, and get much worse results out of it than you do. I don't get good sound with any left-hand notes.

I'd like to ask the experienced folks: What's a decent ocarina that can do high notes and still sound good in a $50-$60 range? Where shall I look? I was gifted a ceramic Awef that came off of Amazon, and it's good for practicing and learning and all, but has trouble with the high notes It's my first one, and need others views and advice for finding a better one that's not $100+ lol If I am unable to find one I like, perhaps I'll look into the bass ocarinas XD
Well, before you go looking for another ocarina, you should try the acute bend technique. If that doesn’t work, stl has some good ac models for around your price range. Be sure you know what range to look for as they often times incorrectly label their ocarinas tenors. They also have bass ocarinas within your price range.
Big missed opportunity to call them "ocarinas of crime"
I came here to say the exact same thing

For example, STL has very low % quality control issues (I've seen a case where someone's ocarina didn't have a hole in the mouthpiece making it unplayable), but I recommend them *sometimes,* since they do have the best-priced OoT replica and some great instruments in their selection
In the case of OcarinaWind, I only see them as, like you said, a cheap way to fill a collection.
You’re a far better person than I, I wouldn’t have even tried to fix the ocarina of crap 🫡
There’s a reason I keep promoting the NBN! It’s the most consistently good plastic ocarina I’ve used
@@AndyCormierYT Or as another commenter said, the Ocarina of "Crime".
Try a Jubo. You won't have to drill. We solved all the intonation problems before they were perfected.

Try a Jubo. Prices range from $15-20. All the notes sound equal and requires only one breath pressure. Play one chromatic octave.
Great video ! Honestly such honesty , great humor and gobs of good info ! Thank you so much- you are a natural making these reviews !
Hopefully more videos on tips and tricks to follow!
@@AlannaStarcrossed I never thought of it that way. Thank you!
@@Thelittlestrobot I'm glad you found it helpful! Happy learning :)
What about STL Ocarinas? Are they ok?
Generally speaking they’re pretty good instruments, but some of STL’s models more about looks than playability, so while they’re in tune, the ergonomics are off. It mostly depends on which ocarina you’re looking at buying.
I bought the same one as 10:20 the ocarina of time replica , but It came in a bag pouch wrapped in bubble wrap, glad it didn't break as it was a gift to a friend who doesn't play it just leaves it as a decoration
1:37 “and a thank you cÃrd 😊”
Andy, It's simple. You always take your chances when you're dealing with the mail. You did a good entertaining job. Would you like to review the Jubo?
Hi Andy I own three ocarinas two from Songbird and one plastic ocarina from STL. Please keep making videos on the ocarina
Ocarinawind made a really nice tenor years ago and gave me one when I asked if I could get one for a review, thing was perfectly in tune & really nice
Thoughts on stl ocarina?
Never had a bad experience with them personally. That said, many of their ocarinas prioritize the novelty aesthetic over ergonomics or playability, so I generally don't buy from them
As a newbie that got a straw fire OW Ocarina as a late Xmas gift, are they any good for someone learning to play, and upgrading in the future?
I am getting close to buying my first ocarina. This was VERY helpful! I was eyeing an OcarinaWind instrument but now I am suspicious...
Glad it was helpful! OcarinaWind isn't the *worst* maker out there, but their quality control is certainly not great, either. Would definitely recommend Focalink/Stein or Imperial City for affordable ceramics. You can also get many Focalink/Stein ocarinas through Songbird (use code ANDY10 for a discount!)
Otherwise, I think everybody should start with a good plastic!
Hey Andy! Thanks for a great video. I'm super interested in a further review in a few of the brands you mentioned and a few other plastics. I'll try to send you a DM :)
You made an awesome video, super informative and entertaining.
Any thoughts on the Jubo video?
I recently picked up "The Shadow." From STL ocarina. It sounds so much better than my 30 dollar Ocarina Wind brown one. Its also a Bass C so it plays a little quieter.
I have an Ocarina Wind in Ac, and honestly, its pretty dang good for the price. Its a very easy playing Ocarina, is in tune, breathe curve is reasonable and its plays fairly well in the high notes
So, is there an inexpensive, great sounding Ocarina that you would recommend? I want to get one but have no idea what I'm doing.
is it normal for your left pinky hole only note with no thumbs to be kinda hard to get solid sound out of?
Just like the strawfire alto C in your video.
Are there any wooden ocarinas you’d recommend (and not over$100)?
And any cute little one to wear around the neck as both a pendant and decent musical instrument?
So I have that first ocarina of time ocarina , and I bought it from stl. So far from what I can tell it's not defected. Soooo idk what's happening
@Andy Cormier Where would you recommend me buying an Ocarina online? I have been looking for an Ocarina for so long ever since I was a child because of the game Legend of Zelda
Also I live in the Philippines and we do have Amazon but maybe you have other recommendations
@AndyCormierYT
Unfortunately I wouldn't know for the Philippines, but you might try to see if Stein/Focalink have any resellers there, or if they ship there
10:00 I bought one of these as my first Ocarina and literally gave up because I couldn't make a decent sound. It was so discouraging that I waited about two years to purchase another one.
What about mifoge ocarinas i just got one sounds good no seem on the bottom as far as i can tell
Man I got one of those Zelda knock-offs at a games convention on a whim and it's tuned so horribly :')
Before watching the whole video, I'd like to say I immediately noticed one I thought was good, with reviews and photos. I am nervous
Omg the woody was my first ocarina and genuinely thought I was just terrible lol 😂 ( don’t worry I have a STL and 2 song birds now)
Now that I've watched it I am relieived to find that my choice was a good one
Me holding the same ocarina in my hand:👀
I got one of those out of tune ocarinas of time and while the notes didn't match what they had in their booklet i was able tonfigure out songs on their with my own finger patterns and I loved it. But then I lost it, and if I get a new one the same patterns probably wont match the notes :(
I have a question
How can you tell if one if fake on Amazon bc they all have good reviews I bought a night by noble one on Amazon but I didn't know if it was fake
Hello, thank you very much for your detailed description of the instruments. Unfortunately, I already ordered two before I saw your video. Anyway thx a lot 🗡️ PS I love Zelda
Zelda should be part of every childhood 😊
Play the Ocarina on Zelda Guys 😀
❤ Merci pour ces tests, cela m'aide énormément pour mon choix en tant que débutant 😅👍 Tanks you.
TH-cam moved
the description button and I can’t find it
I bought one of the ocarina of time ones a while ago, and only ended up watching your video after it came! just ordered a new one but maybe I should do a little more research...
What about the focalink brand??
Focalink is generally regarded as a really great ocarina brand to buy from. Just make sure you buy from one of their vendors so you don’t have to pay the insane shipping costs.
Hey! A cool video would be - If trying to fix the tuning on a cheap ocarina that isnt good out of the box, by customizing the holes! :D peace out bro!
Good luck.
But what about STL are they good because I've seen many people say good things about them
I just recently got my first ocarina.. It was the plastic one with a wooden look. Not my best choice, apparently..
Jubos get rid of most of the problems ocarinas have. They play in tune, won't break and have a better hand position.
Add a Jubo to your collection. Comes in over 25 styles and colors. And the price is $20 or less. You can get good quality for a lower price.
I got one from a local convention a few years ago, kept it safe entombed in clothes since then.
the number 4 one was my first ocarina that I got a few years ago
I just learned the word ocarina today. They're funny little things. Idk why I'm here but it's the middle of the night, I let the algorithm take me where it wants

The links are for people to know exactly what listings NOT to buy lol... if they use that link and then get something else I still get a cut :)
@@AndyCormierYT hey, I think that's pretty cool. Especially since you reviewed products from places like awef. I was looking at ocarinas on Amazon and awef came up a lot, and the one you link here is the one I put in my cart before I watched your video.
That Woodi ocarina floors me. How the hell do you fuck up the tuning on a PLASTIC ocarina?
For real, too lazy to make a mold that's in tune or works at ALL, smh
I got all of my ocarinas from OcarinaWind YEARS ago. I have the straw fire and the dragons tooth, but I got them almost 9 years ago. but they are way better quality than the ones in this video, and they all had different carrying bags not cases. but I got an Ocarina of time double replica for a birthday present 6 years ago... yeah it sucks, my 3D printed one I made works way better than it. all my other ocarinas are from Songbird they are just as good as my old ocarinawind
I got an LIEKE from Amazon, and its not perfectly in tune, but for 20$, I'm not really complaining.
lol I'm tone def and struggle to play instruments, i tried one of the bad ones and even i can tell its outa tune lol
Thank goodness I got mine on Temu! (It can’t play a full scale)
I got an ocarina for x-mas and I think it's out of tune.
Especially the airy note problem that he's having I have the exact same Ocarina I have played the same song and I haven't had any problems
Yeah, a few ocarinas from the low-cost vendors WILL be in-tune and without problems. The biggest thing is quality control, hence why I reviewed 7 to show the majority of these vendors send ocarinas with problems
Frick. I JUST bought the Ceramic Ocarina replica at a comic book store (mine’s dark blue) for $30 💀
I wanted to pick something up again and figured this would be a nice restart. But holy hell, was I gipped.
I dub these “ocarinas of crime”.
When i first was like "I'm gonna buy an ocarina" I looked on amazon, and found a pretty one. Good thing though I do lots of research before i buy something im unfamiliar with as I think i was looking at one of the bad zelda replica's XD. I did some more research and ended up buying a songbird plastic ocarina so I hope it's good :)
Dude,I’m literally holding in my hand the ocarina of time of breezeemarket and,I have it a lot of love because that ocarina my father bought for my birthday number 10,for nothing on the world I will change it

You mean the scale he plays at the timestamp?? Or the song that follows like ten seconds after the timestamp? It's the song of storms, by the way, from ocarina of time.
hey Andy, after hearing you describe the more reliable process of manufacturing the plastic Ocarinas , im now convinced to ONLY purchase plastic Ocarinas, and I really like the light blue sweet potato Ocarina , , , , 😸👍
That reliability really only goes for inexpensive ocarinas! The very best ocarinas I own are ceramic, but they cost a lot more than $20-30
@@AndyCormierYT that's very cool Andy , I understand the Spencer Ocarinas are probably the most expensive , , do you have an opinion of the Spencer ones ???
idk man... I think I'm gonna buy that plastic OoT after watching this video using your affiliate link, lol. I already have good ocarinas, so it'd be fun to play lesser ones and make them sound good, lol.
I just want to go inside a windmill now and spin all day long
Get the I AM SOUND ocerina, it’s very nice, 432 and cheap!
The recorder has the same problem in the US because of cheap sopranos being played poorly by schoolchildren... I have the plastic one from OcarinaWind, and get much worse results out of it than you do. I don't get good sound with any left-hand notes.
What a good ocarina for a complete beginner who doesn't want to spend much in case they are terrible at playing it
How about best pipe organs for people like Ganondorf and I?! 😈
Edit: i cannot recommend these products!!!!! Amazon links in description
Id rather buy a cheap one and upgrade to a better one. I can barely afford food in this economy. And i need something to do when im not working.
If you want a cheap one, get a good plastic one! It'll sound better than the crappy ceramic ones AND be basically indestructible
And links are included so people know exactly what not to buy lol 🫡
I have an ocarina that my parents got me back in 2011, before the trend really picked up hard. I'm kind of curious about it now...
Edit: I have a plastic one they got me before the good one to gauge my interest, lol.

Thank you for the education about how to find a good ocarina!
I wish when I played my ocarinas that it could sound as good as when Andy even uses a cheap one LOL
You can with a Jubo!
what's weird is that thrush is a fungal infection commonly in the mouth. not exactly a great name for an ocarina.
Darn I've messed up, just saw the video and found out I got the worst one😅😢

I'd like to ask the experienced folks:
What's a decent ocarina that can do high notes and still sound good in a $50-$60 range? Where shall I look? I was gifted a ceramic Awef that came off of Amazon, and it's good for practicing and learning and all, but has trouble with the high notes
It's my first one, and need others views and advice for finding a better one that's not $100+ lol
If I am unable to find one I like, perhaps I'll look into the bass ocarinas XD
Well, before you go looking for another ocarina, you should try the acute bend technique. If that doesn’t work, stl has some good ac models for around your price range. Be sure you know what range to look for as they often times incorrectly label their ocarinas tenors. They also have bass ocarinas within your price range.
I now understand why the ocarina I was gifted sounds out of tune :(
Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it
Did you have any thoughts on my video?
