    The biggest problem with adding bigger tires to these Toyotas is wheel clearance and rubbing in the fender well. The truck started off with a small lift and 285/70/r17 tires and a small lift. With that setup I was able to get away with just a cab mount chop (also by Fabzone). When I upgraded to the 295s and -38 offset wheels, that is when I had to do the Cab Mount Relocation kit AND tub the firewall. Now I can clear the tires at full lock, in reverse, and in high flex situations when offroad. Again, if you're looking to get any kind of fabrication work done to your Toyota, hit up Vong from Fabzone

    Solid detail video, and straight to the point, clear and simple. Great vid bro! Truck looks awesome. It's nice seeing a built truck that isn't carrying all that weight in the rear like most youtubers. It's nice seeing a simple build

      @@ChaseColbert by the way, how's the ride quality in the rear with the single aal? How does it feel compare to stock? Better? Firm? Or similar. And how much of lift did you gain with that single AAL?

      @@GhettoFabulous670 the ride is definitely stuffed but feels great when off-road, it raises the rear of the truck about 1.5 inches and also allows you to put 350 more pounds of weight in the bed

    I'm a certified collision tech! Some constructive criticism, I get the big tire and lift thing, but in the front, if you run without a fender liner like you have there with bare body, the whatever booger welds done by the fab shop to section back your "firewall chop," and gravel guard coating that they put on, the tires will kick up rocks, debris and dirt into your wheel well, the inside of your fenders there, and front inners of the doors. Basically it creates a sand blasting effect. As dirty accumulates inside, it traps moisture and no doubt accelerate unwanted corrosion. I have a new third gen too, trust me, you gotta figure out how to put in some sort of liner back in.

    • @ChaseColbert
      @ChaseColbert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for the feedback! You’re definitely right, I’ve been trying to think of a way to build a custom Abs plastic liner to put back in there, also to cover the air intake tube for the engine. Was also considering spraying a “frame coating” type product in there to help mitigate corrosion. Any suggestions?

    I run the excact same size of tire/wheel setup with 6112s, SPCs, heavy coils and all I had to do to the front well was a standard CM chop and weld fold. I hope you've remedied the well liner issue by now or problems will come. Otherwise very sharp build/combo. Keep it up man!

      Yes! I ended up making a molded plastic piece to cover the areas that were exposed that wouldn’t affect the clearance and then used a car undercoating spray kit to protect the areas that were chopped!

    • @ChaseColbert
      @ChaseColbert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t experienced anything like that in my truck with this setup. What I’m thinking is maybe something with your steering may be loose or out of line or the wheel bearings are shot causing the vibration, it could be from excessive wear from the big wheels and tires. I would start with getting a good alignment and going from there👍

    I never quite understood these Tacoma builds. Like, why not get a Tundra if you're going to put big, heavy tires on? They'll get the same MPGS if you do all this crap but have tons more power. It's twice the truck for the same money. Only thing I can think off is the locker, but this is an SR, so, why?

    • @ChaseColbert
      @ChaseColbert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have no need for a big truck like a tundra. I don’t tow anything and don’t need much bed space, just enough for two dirt bikes. I get the same gas mileage now in my truck as a stock tundra does. The Tacoma is much more affordable and it has better off-road capabilities for what I use it for. As far as the SR trim goes, I have a v6, 4x4, and didn’t have a budget to buy the TRD model. I’ve never been in a situation where a locker is necessary and I don’t need all the fancy tech.
