- In the first installment of “The Build Up”, follow Gaston through the reimagining of a bone-stock-fresh-off-the-lot 2021 Toyota Tacoma, as he transforms it into a head-turning multifunctional rig, capable of handling whatever is thrown at it. Adding Rough Country’s 3.5 Vertex lift kit, fresh new aggressive wheels, and hybrid tires, as well as additional interior and exterior accessories, take this Taco from a "stock car" to a "rock star."

It’s crazy how much a set of wheels and a lift change the appearance. Hence why it’s smarter to just buy a base model and build it up

Too bad the steps are lower than stock now, kinda defeats the offroad function. How can you access the winch clutch ? I mean who wants to power out 80 ft. of winch line? Otherwise good product demo.

Any plans on coming out with seat covers for 5th gen 4Runners?
This is about $3000 for the lift , around $2000 for rims and tires... having this installed around $1200 to $1500, let's say $5500 ... not including the other upgrades.

I’m gonna bust my a** to get a Tacoma. Looks. Reliability. No other midsize truck really does it for me. To each their own of course… would be cool to see a boosted Tacoma in the future.

Are the coil overs adjustable? Also, does the 3.5” put the CV axles in a compromised position? Thank you! Build looks amazing btw!
Probably destroys CV axles, I had a 2.5in lift on mine and CV axle boots would rip every couple of years so I lowered it some closer to 2 inches now so time will tell and I have diff drop

Will it void the bumper to bumper warranty for Toyota? I really want to get RC lift kit but afraid of my Bumper to bumper warranty will be void. I have it for the next 7 years

I think this a good looking build but when you start doing 4-8” lifts that’s when things start going to crap especially when your 4wd and this I think gives RC a bad name but overall this video and build looks solid as hell.
After owning a Tacoma SR5 for 20 years ( I bought it in 1992) I finally sold it and got me a 2023 Tacoma SR access cab a month ago. I’m really excited and your video inspired me to do some mods to it. Great video, sir!
Spend your money elsewhere. Rough country is…rough! Crappy suspension. This is like looking at mattresses, you don’t go to Walmart to get a comfy mattress.
Go OME, Ironman, or bilstein if you’re on a budget.
I have to ask about the back cover. If I plan on throwing a 4 wheeler or dirt bike up there, would you recommend a roll cover? Would it kind of be a PITA to have to disassemble the cover to fit the wheel up front?
Awesome build btw. I am looking at a trd sport and love the body style. The factory tires and lift is what always throws me off. Adding the lift and the wheels totally changes the look. When I get mine I will definitely be looking into your products

Looks like nice products. However, this poser video with its stupid music and annoying editing BS only leave me frustrated. So many other products out there that will talk and show their procedure.
What was the final cost of all the upgrades?

Is it a true 3.5 in lift or only gets about 2.5 in of lift from the kit and the other inch or so from the bigger tires?
Im happy to watch people build up a bonestock version instead of swapping out a very expensive version.
I love this video and I plan to do most of these mods, but for the love of everything decent stop it with the flashing lights over the B roll images!!!
take off the steps and itll look way better, more aggressive and will give the truck more ground clearance which makes it look higher off the ground
imo steps just make trucks look like its a grandpa truck
this is not a build, just flashy show off stuff. they could have made this clip down to 5 seconds. lolz
I have the UCA’s, N3 struts w/coils, and N3 rear shocks. It’s actually an amazing budget package, it replaced my Bilstein 5100’s, the ride is much better IMHO.
2008 Tacoma. 140k miles, I am shocked by how such a budget 3” hit way above its weight class. Thanks RC.
I did the 3” RC coil over kit on my 2016 OR. Paired with new UCAs. Perfect. Fits 285s like a glove.

@@RoughCountryTV Hey with those size tires and the factory front bumper was there any rubbing? Did you have to do any cutting? I know you guys put on an aftermarket bumper but I'll be sticking with the stock bumper for now.

Nice build but left out some critical info.
They installed a front diff drop (not shown), what size tires were installed? Didn’t mention required alignment and how much caster is required to run larger tires. Also wheel wells have to be trimmed and possibly body mount chop done.

To be honest, I would never really recommend rough country, nothing wrong with them, but if budget was really a issue. Then I'd recommend them. Though, I'd definitely skip the n3 and spacer lift, and gk straight to the v2 or vertex line up if quality does look that good as it was in the video. Other than that. I am glad I found this video. Though, I'd definitely want to know more about those upper control arms and new leaf pack you guys have for the tacoma! Please do a review! And how much of lift does the rear leaf pack give? Most taco owners would love around 2-3"
I saw the rc uca and leaf pack but never found much more info on it since I assumed it was new. Definitely curious on the price, lift specs on this. I wonder if they squeak bad as all pros, or the first batch of ome. I also wonder how bad these would sag. If their any better than old man emu or all pro leaf pack, I'd definitely give it a try! Looks promising already
Go with deavers leafs springs best in the game, this RC lift did look really nice not gunna lie. Not sure how long they’ll last compared to kings, dobinsons, or even fox.

Do you guys sell a 4 inch lift spindles for the 3.5 Vertex Coilovers. My forged uca tha came with my kit touches the coil spring.

Lol …” it drives much better than the factory shocks” Not even close. When you lift the truck, the ride is normally not as good as factory.
This build is more capable and looks better then these other Tacoma running super high end stuff leaving them broke lol

It would be cool if you spent some time on the bumper installation. Kill the special effects and slow down on the b roll. It’s a good looking bumper but you get no sense of the cutting required, weld quality, etc.
That from bumper looks amazing! The bed cover is really nice, I really enjoy the video and the information, but editors: the glow is unnecessary and annoying, the music is not the correct one, is ton loud when he is speaking also. Keep coming good content. 💪🏼

I installed this kit in my tacoma & my UCA's rub on my springs pretty bad... just in going over speed bumps etc... any suggestions ?

And for the frontier owners you sell nothing. But the bottom end stuff no seat covers no bumpers No 3 and 1/2 inch lift kits no nothing nothing nothing and then let me say one more time nothing
That was a lot of content in one video, very nice but left alot of questions as you can see. I for one only knew of half the products offered. I would have liked to see more details on seat covers fabric ect. There was no mention of tire size or if wheel offset was needed.
These guys didn’t even replace the halogen bulbs with LED’s

Actually the only lift that does not technically void the suspension/ drive line warranty of a 21 tacoma is the leveling kit offered by Toyota. This is very dealer dependent on what they turn a blind eye to but in todays age of lower profit margins you will find fewer and fewer dealers willing to perform warranty work on a lifted vehicle.
