I LOVE making blankets/quilts and have made quite a few. I STILL can't get the binding quite right. After seeing this, I think I can easily finish them off. This is GENIUS! Thank you a million times over for this. Now I can breeze through them.

This looks like a great technique! I will definitely try it. Sometimes I watch videos that make quilting like rocket science, so hard and intimidating. But unless you are making a quilt for a show or contest, it does not have to be that way. This is a really nice tutorial, you explain everything so well. This will really simplify things.

Lorena! Thank you so much for sharing this technique. Although I have always done self-binding quilts, I still struggle and have just rolled it over as I go just like Granny did. I dread doing the edges for this reason and have been trying to find an easier way. This will be a HUGE time saver for me and it looks so beautiful. Glue...that's ingenious! It looks so beautiful and much cleaner than my edges have been. Can't wait to try!!

Thank you soooo much for your great tutorial. Using your directions, I finished a quilt that I started before You Tube existed because I just couldn't figure out how to mitre those corners with my backing fabric.

Very clean "binding". So glad you figured this out. The perfect mitered corners are a plus to the finished product. The glue is the greatest idea for keeping the binding in place. Thanks for sharing.

Ive disliked videos already, so im not saying people shouldn't be honest on whether they like a video or not but when it's a video you have no reason to "dislike"... Drives me crazy!

My mother used to do it this way every now and then, I've done it my self a time or two. But haven't tried it on large quilts. Baby quilts or lap quilts. This would also be good if your making a quilted wall hanging also.
This has become my favorite method for placemats, table runners, wall hanging, even special cards. So easy. Very well done. Thank you.

I found 2 almost finished lap quilts at a Mennonite thrift shop. Done by hand, but as I am a beginning quilter, was unsure how to turn the back to the front. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Something easy, practical, doable.

I have just finished one of the quilts intended as Christmas gifts this year, and am now relaxing for the evening.
I wanted to thank you for posting your video, this method is so much easier than, making yards and yards of binding, then _fingers crossed_ joining up the two ends. Since I only have 2 days out of the week that I can do my quilting, this is a time saver as well.

I LOVE THIS. I JUST FINISHED MY QUILT EXACTLY AS YOU SHOWED. iT LOOKS AMAZING, THANK YOU SO MUCH
Julia Hynes I haven't tried it on flannel backing. I do think it should work the same. I recommend that you give your self a little bit more room like 1 1/4 when your cutting the outside back fabric. I think flannel is a little bit thicker to fold over and maybe an extra 1/4 or 1/8 would give you more space to fold you fabric over. I will try to find some flannel and try it on a little swatch and let you know but I do think that thicker fabrics will just need a little bit more fabric on the back to fold over nicely than the 1 inch on regular cotton fabric.
I leave a 2 inch border with flannel. It makes a one inch binding which is better. I have also left a 3 inch border with flannel for the best binding for the thickness of flannel front and back. That makes a 1.5 inch binding. I liked the tutorial very much.

Nice technique...you make it look easy...but I prefer the look on the back of a quilt when the binding is a different fabric, so I will stick with the traditional method of sewing on a binding.
I used this method on 2 of my QUILTS OF VALOR QUILTS. Will be using it on the quilts I have left. No PINS, NO CLIPS, NO CLAMPS!!! EASY TO SEW ON MACHINE, SINCE EVERYTHING IS WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE. TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!
Have you ever tried this with a flannel backing? I'm wondering if it would come out as clean. Looks awesome! Can't believe I spent all those hours binding with strips!!

This is how my grandmother did it (except for the glue stick . I have a really hard time sewing binding on and getting it to look right.
Same here Jo Jeaux, my grandmother did it this way but withiut the glue stick.

To Becky Sills I use Elmer's Glue stick wash away. You can also use liquid glue it works also. It got messy for me to use it and I found that Elmer's glue wash away glue stick was easier for me. Lorena

I watched this TH-cam video I used her method on a lap sized quilt today and it only took me about 3 hours; whereas the other day I started one by hand and it took me 2 1/2 days! Her method is so easy and it really looks good, probably the best I've ever done and binding is not hard for me. I even told my 10 year old grand daughter that she could do this binding it's so simple.

I was about to ask about the glue and then saw the response in comments. I'm brand new to quilting, just trying to make a small wall hanging. The glue stick, i never would have thought of that. Im going to use it all the time now. Folding corners has also been stumping me. This answered all of my questions.
