Piping, yes please!! I love your vids. Your style of teaching is easy for me to understand and not everyone can accomplish this. What I would like you to do is show us how to design and block and quilt on graph paper then go all the way to the finished quilt. Make the math easy for me, I struggle with that part. Thanks for all that you share, you are an incredible person.
One thing that helps to minimize bulk in the corners is to make sure the direction of the fold in the miter are in opposite directions on each side, I hope that makes sense😊
Hi Christen! Could you hear me cheering for this video??! Your teaching style is wonderful. Piping, or anything else you want to explore will enrich my experience...so grateful to you from Canada.
❤ahhhh, thank you. I also really love the❤❤❤ 3" binding suggestion, that makes perfect sense! I have so much fabric, I absolutely have to use it up, and this will greatly speed up my finishing techniques. I also make journal covers so this technique will work great on those as well. You really explained it well. Excellent video.
Hi Christine, love , love your video's. I'm going to try the 3 inch binding on my next quilt. Still don't have my sewing room set yet I hit a bump in the road. December 14 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. So with surgery and radiation I'm just now getting back in the swing of thing. I'm so excited to get back to what I love so much and have a lot of new patterns I want to make. Keep up the great work you do!
Angela, good for you getting back to quilting. I am 74 and struggle with my health but when I have energy I try to get back to my quilting too. It’s encouraging to finish. Praying for you to stay strong and healthy so you can do all the things you love to do too. God bless.❤️✝️🙏💐
Thank you Christen. I am almost ready to bind the quilt I am working on for one of my daughters and I am going to use the 3” binding. Thank you for showing us these great tips. Hope you have your power back. Our vet clinic in Houston just received power two days ago. God bless.❤️✝️🙏
Angela, I’m so glad you’re getting back into the swing of things after your breast cancer treatment. Wishing you all the very best. Charlotte, a fellow breast cancer survivor.
Hi Christen! I really enjoy watching your tutorials and love the quilt you made. It is beautiful. You are so sweet and have a great teaching style very easy to follow and understand. Thank you for the mitered/binding technique. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for this video. As a beginner, this video is a treasure. The technique of your binding and minor corners are excellent! Your camera position was perfect. We could see very well. Your directions were great. I’ve learned so much. Now I’m encouraged and can’t wait to try your technique and how to binda quilt.❤❤❤…. Beautiful quilt that you have displayed you said it was so you and it is so beautiful.! keep them coming❤❤❤… yes, indeed I for one, would love to know how to rope an edge. Can’t wait till you show us. Thank you again ❤…. Until next time.❤
I've watched a BUNCH of videos on bias tape mitered corners and yours is the first that says to line up the corner of the quilt with the needle. That is the exact detail I needed!! I could not figure out how to make sure I was getting the correct angle. Thank you!!!
I would like to see the stitching on the back when you sewed the binding down. I assume you stitched from the front. Did you use black thread for the back? You are a good teacher.😊
Christen, thank you for all you do and for being such a good instructor on all your videos. I've seen that piping call flange in other videos I don't know if it would be the same thing but I'm so very interested in seeing how you do it; when you say easy I say I'm all in. By the way, you have beautiful hands and I love watching hands at work creating😊
Corners have always been a problem for me when it comes to binding. I’m going to have to try your 3 inch fabric idea maybe I can get my binding to look much better. Thanks for all your ideas!
Thank you! Enjoyed this lesson. Question: since you use 3” binding, do you sew it to the back using a wider seam than 1/4”. My brain is thinking that if not, then you have a much wider binding in the front. Thank you for clarifying.
OMG This has helped me sooo much. I’ve been quilting for several years now and always clipped the corners off and never sewed the quilt edges before binding. My quilts are nice but the binding isn’t the greatest. I love the idea of the 3” binding instead of 2.5. Please do a video, if you haven’t already of the piping on the binding. Super beautiful. Just found your channel & subscribed. I hope I find a video on machine binding instead of hand binding.
Thank you. I always wanted to do this, but did not know how. Your video was explained and really like the way you are funny but learning at the same time.
Gorgeous quilt! I love everything about it, too, and I'd absolutely love to see a video of you showing the little extra pizazz you added for the binding! Thank you for this!
I LOVE your sewing space and love all of your videos. Thank you for helping me along my quilting journey. You’ve been such an inspiration and a wonderful teacher for years. Thank you 💗
Hi Christine. I love this miter corner method. I’m anxious to try it! I do not know which video you show this tool that you have. It’s that multicolored beautiful binding holder that was made with, I think, acrylic. You gave the location to get one and I guess I copied it wrong. Would you please give me that Shop to purchase that beautiful binding holder. I hope this makes sense and thanks again for the great video! Jeanne
This is a great video! I was hoping to see how you join the binding ends when you’ve finished stitching it around the quilt edges. And Yes, I’m very interested in learning how you made your piped binding.
Very helpful. I am a novice quilter but quilt for charity. So my corners have been so-so. I doubt I will incorporate piping into the binding but I will view your video if you make it. The one little thing I need help with is how to join the binding when ends meet. I bet you've done a video already. I just need to search youtube. Thanks! Hope your power is back. The storms have been rough on Texas. I'm a weather geek.
YOU JUST READ MY MIND!!!👍👍🤩 YES!!! i would absolutely love to learn how to make that type of binding!!! it is GORGEOUS!!! and so is your quilt!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for this awesome tutorial!!!!❤
That is a beautiful quilt. Have you done a video on a piping binding? If not would you in the future? It's beautiful and is the perfect finishing touch for this quilt..
Thank you for your info about the acrylic binding holder. I shared your video about how to do mitered corners. I saved the video and am anxious to try it myself.🎉
Love your tutorials! Making the perfect binding miter corners is a hit N miss for me; never consistent. Going to make some sandwiched squares to practice your technique. Wish me luck! Oh! I tried the 3” binding and LOVE it! Sooo much easier! Thanks again!😊
Oh my gosh...I just subscribed to you on a previous video, then I see this one...and discover that we're 'neighbors'!! Yes, the power outage has been chaotic to say the least... Howdy to my fellow Texan! 🤠🤠
Thank you Christine for this video on metered corners. You have a great voice, easy instructions, and easy to follow along! Thanks so much, you were very helpful!😊
Are you turning the binding down and over the stitch line where you sewed it to the quilt or is it lining up with the stitch line? I was taught to line it up with the stitch line. It looks like both ways, I can't really tell that's why him asking. Your video is great! I'm going to now try a 3" wide binding! And I love the 2 fabric binding, I'd have never thought to do that!
I turn it over where it overlaps the other stitch line. You could experiment both ways and see which you prefer? Good luck trying out the 2 fabric binding! It is a fun one to learn.
Hi Kristen. I'm happy to see that you and your family have made it through those storms. Mitered corners hate me, but your guidance in this video might be the help I've needed. Please stay safe and well. ~~ Lynne
Love hearing ok to use 3 inch binding. I have always wondered if that one half inch would be better to wrap around. Yea, You gave me a push., I’m doing this next quilt. Would love to see The piping instructions. Glad to meet you And thank you. ☺️
The bobbin thread does show up on the backing. Its about 1/4 inch down from where the binding ends on the back. I usually choose a bobbin thread that will blend well and the line does not bother me, but you could adjust where you sew on your binding so it would be more similar in size
That's a good technique. It looks easy. Nobody showed me how to fold the corners. I am interested in the 2 color binding. Could you show how you made it?
Awesome video! This is the method I learned. Yes to piping video! I’ve just discovered your channel and am now a subscriber. Binge watching all your videos. 😁 Thanks for sharing your knowledge in such a clear, concise manner.

Ditto! Would love a video on that technique. It's such a nice little touch but looks so "fancy"!
@ellenmcphate1441 you said "ditto" that brought back memories and a smell flashback. We won't say how old we are.
One thing that helps to minimize bulk in the corners is to make sure the direction of the fold in the miter are in opposite directions on each side, I hope that makes sense😊
Yes, you are so right.
Did anyone else oooh and ahhh when she made that first corner? Lol ❤️
Hi Christen! Could you hear me cheering for this video??! Your teaching style is wonderful. Piping, or anything else you want to explore will enrich my experience...so grateful to you from Canada.
Yay! I am so glad it is helpful, that means the world.

Thanks for the lovely tutorial, and yes please : please teach that gorgeous piping on the binding. It’s really special!
Yay! will do.
When you flip it to the front and machine stitch it seems like it would show up too far into the backing. Can you show a close up of that part please.
The bobbin thread does show up on the backing. Its about 1/4 inch down from where the binding ends on the back. I usually choose a bobbin thread that will blend well and the line does not bother me, but you could adjust where you sew on your binding so it would be more similar in size
I just found your channel! This was an Amazing video, thank you Christine! I will be using this method along with 3” binding tomorrow.
You are so welcome! ....and Welcome!
Yes the piping video would be awesome. I really like the way it looks. Your quilt is beautiful!
