This was probably the BEST video tutorial regarding machine binding that I have seen - and I've been watching everything regarding quilting for years. I especially appreciated the application of the binding with about an 1/8th of an inch of the quilt backing fabric showing. A light-bulb went off! Why didn't I ever think of that? It's easy to see how this relatively simple step will improve accuracy and appearance. I am FMQ the last two bordered sides of a huge quilt and am actually looking forward to binding it! Always, always looking for an easier or better or more efficient way of doing things and you checked all three boxes. THANK YOU! I believe some folks are born with a knack for teaching that no amount of college can impart. Sharing your knowledge and 'how-to' with others in a way they can understand and put to use - and actually find joy doing so in the process - is a GIFT. Still learning all I can in my 80th year.
I'm glad I'm not alone. I am 67 so have no time to waste on the crap that has sweet FA to do with quilting on how their aunt's husband's first cousin once removed daughter's boyfriend's mother's distant cousin...my eyes glaze over and I switch off physically and metaphorically.
You are a great teacher. You encourage, warn about possible mistakes and explain why you are doing what you are doing. I am 80 and have been sewing since I was 12, and you make me want to begin another quilt, using your method of binding. :)
It’s great. I have tried many ways and this works for me. I always got it twisted or too big or small. I did have to watch a few times again, because it’s been a while since I made a quilt.
I need you to make tutorials on EVERYTHING. You explain things exactly how my brain needs them to be explained. Thank you for this gem of a video, I have been struggling forever and had basically resigned myself to binding with my blacking
I have tried and tried, but 2.5 inches does NOT work for me. I cut MOST of my binding strips at 3". I know, the quilt police will have me Drawn & Quartered. But they look beautiful for me this way. I put my pressed binding strip inside a plastic grocery bag and tie it loosely shut. Then, I place it in my sewing garbage pan, so the strip will feed upward to the sewing machine and out of my way. 🎉
So glad I found you. Just getting ready to bind a quilt and I always struggle with corners and you explained it so even a 72 year old learner could understand. now I off to bind the quilt. thanks so much.
Such a lovely tutorial. Saving this one to watch before every binding I need to do. Quilting has intimated me for a decade but im determined to get it!!
Thank you for this tutorial!!! I just finished my VERY FIRST quilt today and you took all of the fear out of the binding portion for me. I am SO proud of what I made, and I think without your simple concise instructions I would have been too afraid to finish it!
I love your thoughts and attitude about being repetitive and then once it's in your brain it's there! I am a 75 year old lover of piecing and I am using up my stash! You teach so well🎉 Thank you ❣️❣️
You are so right! I am 47 and was desperate as I couldn't figure out complicated binding and this is just perfect! So simple and perfect! No more fighting and adjusting! 🙂
Oh, my goodness. If only we had a word to use when something is "more perfect than the most perfect," I would use it to describe this video. It was just that on every level, down to the tiniest detail! I echo what others have said about the mind-blowing tip in the end to join the binding, and the beautiful, perfectly aligned offset seam on the back. I also loved the way you simplified dealing with the corners. I am no longer afraid of or intimidated by sewing bindings. I'm in the midst of making three rag quilts that are each going to have bindings in addition to the ragging on the edge. This is going to make that final step go swimmingly, and I will sew that binding on like a boss. Also echoing what others have said about being so happy that you stayed on point from start to finish and did not clutter the vid or our brains with trivial, unrelated, irrelevant minutiae. A plethora of extra bonus points for your "just the facts, ma'am" narrative. So grateful for that! Instead of feeling like I got 5 minutes' worth of ROI value after 20 minutes of watching or trying to skip through to the relevant parts, I feel like I got 30 minutes' worth of ROI for just over 11 minutes of watching. And I never felt the need to skip ahead or speed things up. Every second was worth the watch. Thank you for respecting our time and nailing that concept! I just discovered you today, and I am a new subscriber and fan. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! 🥰🥰🥰
Great tips! I haven't tried ironing the X at the end either but I will now. 🙂 I'm so happy to hear you encourage quilters to try this method several times before giving up! Once you get a little practice, you'll be surprised at how quickly you can bind by machine and send those quilty hugs out into the world! ♥
Everybody already said it, but, this is such a clear and positive binding tutorial! I needed a refresh since it has been years since I made my last quilt. This was beautiful. No nonsense, no endless explanations, just the craft and technique that you can tell has come from lots of experience! Also that dang last binding seam trick was amazing.
Oh my, oh my! Watching your video is eye-opening! I believe that this I the last binding video I need to see. You make it look easy and I understand what you did. You are a great teacher. Thank you. 😊💕
I'm 16 years old, not the best with sewing and currently making my first quilt and I just couldn't understand binding even after watching a ton of tutorials but this finally made it so easy 🥹 thank you so much! 🫶🏼
Thank you for this video, I stumbled across it by the catchy title, and to be honest this is the best binding tutorial out there in my opinion. I love your teaching style and you are so right it works EVERYTIME!! I recommend this video to everyone of my quilting friends. Thank you again!!
I am on my 19th quilt and still have issues with binding. I have never responded to videos I watch ....you are the exception!! I really truly LOVE this way to bind. My corners are pretty!!! The connecting of the binding ends was perfect. I have deleted all the other binding videos I have saved. Your videos and getting right to the point with repititions is great. THANK YOU!!
I so appreciate your videos. I have binge watched them all. You are so genuine and direct. So easy to listen to AND you are an excellent quilter. Thank you for taking the time to film these.
Wow!!!! What a beautiful quilt!!!! I pray I can learn to make them this good!! I’m debating on attempting my first one as a Christmas gift for my mother in law! I’m making aprons for my nieces and daughters and the fabric in using for my nieces I intend to use for my SIL’s apron so it’s like she has a piece of every daughter in there! I was thinking of using leftover fabric from all 4 of the little grand babies aprons to make a quilt for her so she has a piece of every grand baby in there (except for my you vest as she’s only a few months old haha!) this was a great tutorial on binding!! Thank you and may God bless you 🙏🏼❤️
I have been enjoying quilt making for 9 years and binding was hard for me. I watched a number of video’s and some in person demo’s but I like your ‘tricks’ and your delivery and voice tone is so very easy to listen to! Thank you. You have undoubtedly helped many of us. Going to check out more of your video’s!
I tried your method and was surprised at how easy it was!!! I’m planning to continue with it on all my future quilts, but will have to watch it a few more times until I have it memorized. Thanks for the easy-to-follow instructions.😊
I have been quilting for years, but have never mastered machine binding, your “how to “ video answered many of my questions! Thank you for showing your tips and techniques and how to make perfect binding. I just subscribed so I won’t miss any of your of your future videos! ~~Joyce
Best binding tutorial ever. The X join is a game changer. I went with 3” binding and got the best corners I’ve ever done, and in no time flat! Thank you!
Over the years I've ended up doing everything the same way you show here... except finishing the binding at the end! Until now I haven't been able to get consistent results (even after buying a binding template that is supposed to simplify the process). This is the best explanation I have ever seen and I cant wait to finish my next quilt to try it out!
I'm finding your videos as I finish my very first quilt and you're so helpful! I love that you showed us again at each corner. Also the muscle memory is so true as I'm learning from machine quilting my queen size quilt. Do the same sewing over and over again is really teaching my brain and muscles how to make it work. Thanks so much!! Your videos are great!
I just want to say I'm only 2:55 into your video and honestly have learnt so much already. I live how easy you are making it because I'm just starting out with quilting. I want to say Wow and thank you! Cant wait to finish and see what more i can learn from you!
Excellent, passionate narrative (and fine audio+audio quality, too!). Turn on the closed captioning "CC" as you watch, listen and learn for the second time - and drive the message home. These are great production techniques brought to the consumer. Her "muscle memory" references are right on.
Miss Mary Bell. My name is Marti. And I’m kind of a beginner quilt maker. And the way you have taught me to do binding is absolutely fabulous. I do it exactly how you do it step-by-step. And so far with about four or five quilts that I have made. It has worked every single time perfectly! I love you and I love your videos. Thanks again and God bless you.!!!💕💕🥰
Very helpful! Appreciate seeing both sides after machine-finishing with the seam showing (vs. trying to find that ditch to stitch in). Also appreciate the speedy presentation! Thank you!
I finally got my quilt top finished and this binding tutorial worked like a charm! The way the ends went together left the nicest looking binding I've ever had! Thanks again for sharing!
I am so glad I found your video! It all made sense the way you explained it all. After struggling for years with different ways to bind it have finally found the perfect way to bind! THANK YOU!
I like bigger bindings too. I use 2.5" also, but i am now going to try leaving a little of the quilt showing (instead of lining up the edges of the binding and the quilt) - this is actually grading the seam "as you go", which will result in less bulk at the edge - love it! 😊
This accomplishes the same thing as cutting strips 3" wide or more. Actually, staggering the seam allowances like that will make it ALL less bulky. (Easier to miter corners too.) Next time, I'm going to cut the binding even wider to 3.25" wide and stagger the allowances. Arthritic fingers that are puffy and frozen do not lend themselves well, to tiny maneuvers anymore.
Oh! I think I get this! I only watched it like 50 times trying to understand the little 1/8” your leaving of the quilt edge and how you have enough to wrap around to front. So, yes, I did math and it actually provides you an 1/8” more binding to wrap! And since you graded it, there is less bulk to wrap the binding over. You are sewing 1/4” (2/8’s) from binding edge & 1/8” of quilt which is 3/8” total SA. Until I did the math I wasn’t understanding. The binding is 1.25”=10/8’s. You lose 2/8’s of binding sewing it to back. To wrap to front you have to fold over the 3/8’s total SA, which leaves you 5/8 of binding to the front. However, bulk will take up a smidge maybe but you have at least 1/2” (4/8’s).
Love love your video. Same here. I have been binding like this for many uears. I am a common sense kinda quilter. Your video is what youtube use to be. A instructional informative website and not a infomercial for selling products. Thank you
This worked well. I always struggle with the cut and join part. Thanks for showing how you lay them together. I did this today and it came out right the first time-no twisted binding- no seam ripping. My project looks fantastic.😊
For those of us who are directionally challenged, joining ends can be frustrating. It was so easy to get things backward. You are so right about the muscle memory! Once developed for every aspect of quilting, things go much faster/smoothly. I, like many, relied on on Sharon Schambers video. Your video is very straight forward an helpful and will save many time and frustration! A pair of eagle beak tweezers is an MVP on helping to get a crisp corner, as sometimes corners can be finicky. The tweezers make it easier to grip and flip--particularly if one uses
I just finished my first quilt (age 60) & I watched all of your videos (Trip Around the World, Binding, etc.) & I LOVE my finished product! It is glorious & SO much fun to make!! I'm not a novice sewer, but for anyone looking to quilt like a pro, watch Merry Mabel videos - you are no-nonsense, get to it, practical & easy to follow for a great experience! I also have a scrappy Fence Post quilt in the works & am loving it. Wow, I'm becoming an addict and discovering a whole new world of textile art. Thank you for all of your help & inspiration - Lisa🥳
All these years of trying to figure how to bind. Ugh. I just happened to watch this and it looks simpler when somebody is there to show you how it's done. Thank You!! I couldn't help also but notice the pretty ring on your right hand. 🥰
Your channel just popped up on my feed and I wasted little time in subscribing and hitting the bell so I don't miss anything. I love hearing your thought process; it's so helpful. The string quilt tutorial was excellent and I hope all your viewers will make one for themselves. It's the most enjoyable and relaxing quilt I ever made. Pure therapy. Thank you for keeping the video shorter. I only have shorter bits of time so this is appreciated.
This is the best tutorial I’ve seen on binding a quilt. Surprisingly there is not many on here. And I watch hundreds of quilting videos. I loved the clear instructions, visible demonstration and encouragement to practice. I usually like to handsaw my bindings too but like you said, there are times I need to do a binding quicker. Thank you.
Thank you, Dawn. I always have to look this up/ joining the ends& invariably have to redo at least 3x. Your video showed me how to do it right- - being dyslexic- I usually sewed from wrong corner or twisted it. Just watched & did it! Easy- thanks! AmyLouise
Thank you! Great video! I have watched alot of binding videos and your technique for closing your binding with the 1/8” gap is first one I’ve seen like this!! Really great!
Fabulous. Thanks. Nothing extraneous. Perfect timing for me as I have almost a dozen baby quilts to donate once they are bound (still have some machine quilting to do) and your tutorial will help give me the practice to make progress on my skills. Hooray for timing!!
Have to tell you again how much I appreciate your videos. Finishing up another string block baby quilt and again reviewing how to do the binding. I thought I'd have it down by now, but as long as I have your video I guess my brain says it's ok not to store that info! I have a Pfaff that I do everything on including the free motion quilting. Giving me fits right now as I can only FM on the lowest speed or my stitches skip. It's going in for service next week! Someday space will allow me to get at least a small free motion quilter to play with:) In fact, if I make just 100 more quilts, I would have enough room from using up my stash of fabrics!🤣 New goal!!
I'm starting my first quilt (a twin size for my daughter's 5th birthday), and this was very helpful!! I'm absolutely going to be using your method when I get to the binding portion. I love how you encouraged muscle memory and figuring out how to do things in a way that works for you and your brain. ❤
I’ve watched this video about a dozen times and still refer back to it everytime I join the binding at the end of a project. It’s THAT good of a tutorial! Thanks for dedicating the time you did to making it.
Whew! Wish I found you a few years ago. You absolutely demonstrated a very easy and ACCURATE method for joining the ends of binding when finishing a quilt. Your "X" method is the very best one I've seen. I agree with other people here that the way you pointed out the 1/8th inch between strips shown in your video was a life saver. I don't think I'll ever fear putting binding on going forward. However, I just made a big note for myself so I can come back to your tutorial when I do my next one! Thank you a thousand times over. (Ginny L.)
This is some thing I have always struggled with, and you make it look so easy! I nearly always get my ends twisted, so I’m looking forward to watching this while I bind my next quilt. So glad your strip quilt came up on my feed today ❤. Subscribed and hit the bell.
Love the tip for joining the binding by pressing to form an ‘x’. I machine stitch all binding but never joined this way. Perfect. Many thanks for sharing. 😊
GREAT tip on joining the binding ends!!! When I first saw one of your videos I remember you saying [after you prepped your fabric for the project] "sew sew sew"....then you'd make an adjustment of some kind and again "sew sew sew". Adorable! You have a great voice and wonderful tutorials. Thank you!!!!! 😀
Im a new quilter (at 70 years old), and after viewing several methods, yours looks the easiest. I have a quilt i need to re-do the binding on. Sooooo i will be watching this again to create a groove in my brain. 😊
I just finished my first quilt and used your method for the binding. It was so easy to do and turned out beautifully. Thank you so much for your tutorial!
Thanks for being so encouraging. I will be binding my first quilt soon and i was feeling completely overwhelmed until i saw this. I have done binding on many other things, just not a full size quilt. Thanks again for a great video!
Absolutely the best tutorial I've seen. I've probably watched a dozen different videos and still couldn't get it. This is so clear, even for a beginner and spatially challenged person like me. :). I cannot thank you enough!!
This is my go to video for binding my quilts. She does an awesome job of explaining and showing how to made the binding, sew it on, and make those mitered corners that scare the heck out of me. Well, they did until this video! This is a fabulous video with such great information!!
I can't even begin to tell you how hel0ful this video is. I have been making tops for a couple years now. I was taking them to gwt quilted. I bought a small long arm/frame. I've done alot of swirly quilting but struggled w binding and thought about contracting out LOL. I now realize my mistakes and will be binding like a boss tomorrow!!!!
I love to have a wider binding so my cut on the last quilt my husband made was 4.5" making a 1" double binding. The formula for wider binding is 4x + 1/2" = cut binding width. X is the finished width. To find how much batting and backing you need to leave, just take your binding width and subtract 3/8". There is a video that explains wider bindings much better than I do and it really helped me alot. This video is so easy to follow, thanks for posting.❤❤❤
I am a seasoned quilter, so I didn't watch for instruction but I love your video as it is so informative for both the new quilters and even intermediate quilters who may not have used or thought of the way you do things. Very nicely done!
This is the most detailed video I have seen on binding yet! Thank you so much! I am a beginner and I have searched and searched for information on quilt making and binding and the information I have found says it is for beginners but have left me baffled. This is video is actually for beginners and is easy to understand. Finally, thank you so much!! ❤
THE BEST video I've ever watched on how to do binding! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom. Your tutorial is straight-forward and to the point and you have a very pleasant instructional voice.
“There is a place in society for machine sewn binding” Love it! True words. Thank you for this succinct lesson on binding! Def saving this video to my “best sewing videos” so I can reference it when I need it! Until my muscle memory is firm. Thanks!!
You make this look so easy! Thank you for a perfectly clear tutorial! I am not a quilter and I only know the basics of sewibg, but now I feel I can make any quilt I want 😊❤️
You make it look easy to make such beautiful quilts. Your binding video is the best! I have been quilting for about 8 years, and my binding comes out looking awful! But at least with your binding tutorial, I finally understand the steps. So thank you! This is the best binding tutorial I have seen, and I have searched forever!
Thank you so much for making this video. Binding has always been a bit of a challenge on the corners and joining the two pieces on the back. I used your method on two quilts I bound today and they came out beautiful and no problems on my corners or joining the two pieces. I appreciate you sharing. 😊
I just found your channel and I just love your teaching style. You seem so happy and enjoying what you do. I am relatively new to quilting. I have made a couple of baby quilts years ago with a friend’s help. I have just finished 2 tops for my grandson’s bed. They were kits, but don’t have borders or anything and the directions were terrible. I made two so that if he wets they have two. Yet, I am terrified of the quilting part. I do want to learn how to quilt the top now, so I am looking for videos to learn, but am so excited… Thank you, thank you thank you…I will be watching more from your channel. ❤ I’m sooooooo excited…..🎉
Absolutely the best tutorial I've seen. No unnecessary waffle, straight to the point! I tried it and it worked perfectly! That "iron in the X method" is genius!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
Your steps make the sewing and turning so simple. As you stated trying to follow other binding stitching instructions were so confusing for me too. Thank you!
Oh wow wow wow!!!! I am dreading the ripping session i have to do. Thank goodness its just an over sized pot holder. I watched several videos to remind my brain to do binding. (Im on a medication that messes with my thinking process.) I love quilting it just takes me longer.. but im saving your video because my brain gets the way your doing the binding. Ty so much!!!
This was probably the BEST video tutorial regarding machine binding that I have seen - and I've been watching everything regarding quilting for years. Some people are given the "gift" of encouraging words. Thank you for sharing yours with me!
i agree linda !
I agree Linda, I've seen so many quilt-binding videos but none as thorough and easy to follow as this.
Yep! Thank you!
Me too Miss Linda!
Love, love, love how you JUST DO IT, without the extremely slow and babbling about unrelated things like so many do! To the point!
I'm glad I'm not alone. I am 67 so have no time to waste on the crap that has sweet FA to do with quilting on how their aunt's husband's first cousin once removed daughter's boyfriend's mother's distant cousin...my eyes glaze over and I switch off physically and metaphorically.
How do you add another binding on an existing binding for decoration ?
@@jazz2012 🤣👍
Yes! The babble puts me to sleep. I use closed caption feature when I want to learn and not listen to the jabber.
The final join tip blew my mind. So simple and yet I had never considered it. Thank you so much!
You're so welcome! So glad you visited.
Right ⁉️
Ditto! Loved this way!
Thank you for not nattering on about life, kids, pets, weather...and getting straight to why we're here...to learn!
You are a great teacher. You encourage, warn about possible mistakes and explain why you are doing what you are doing. I am 80 and have been sewing since I was 12, and you make me want to begin another quilt, using your method of binding. :)

This is the best tutorial I have seen. No faff, no addtional unrelated information. Straight to the point and informative. Thank you!!
Thank you!

You’re welcome! Glad this helped!
This is hands down the most elegant thing I've ever seen in 60+ years of sewing.
Thank you.
Where have you been all my quilting life? I wish I would have seen this years ago. Cannot wait to try this technique.
I'm glad you found us!
As a beginner, this is probably the easiest video I’ve watched in a long time. Thank you.
I had never seen the "iron in the X method" before. I will try this the next time I bind a quilt. Thanks for sharing.
Hope you like it!
This is the best binding tutorial on TH-cam, I'd give it double thumbs up if I could. Thank you.
Wow, thanks!
I have tried and tried, but 2.5 inches does NOT work for me. I cut MOST of my binding strips at 3". I know, the quilt police will have me Drawn & Quartered. But they look beautiful for me this way. I say that whatever works for you IS the right way!!
I use 3” myself…easy for me this way!
There is no fast rule for your binding size. You do what works for you. 😉
I shall be trying this method, thankyou for such clear instructions and filming.
Thanks a lot for this video. I was struggling with hand sewing evenly. I have done one, not the best, but will keep trying😅
It is so worth it. You can do it!
You’ve explained that so well. I love it when someone generously shares their knowledge and experience !
Thank you for this tutorial!!! I just finished my VERY FIRST quilt today and you took all of the fear out of the binding portion for me. I am SO proud of what I made, and I think without your simple concise instructions I would have been too afraid to finish it!
Wonderful! I am SO happy for you!! HOORAY!!
I love your thoughts and attitude about being repetitive and then once it's in your brain it's there! I am a 75 year old lover of piecing and I am using up my stash! You teach so well🎉 Thank you ❣️❣️
HALLELUJAH!!!
Binding a blanket

Thanks you so so very much for filming this!! I ALWAYS refer to this when I have to bind a quilt Every. Single. Time.
So glad it helps you every time!

Oh my, oh my! Watching your video is eye-opening! I believe that this I the last binding video I need to see. You make it look easy and I understand what you did. You are a great teacher. Thank you. 😊💕
Hooray!! Have fun binding!
FIVE attempts but finally success😊 thank you so much. Your quilts are amazing and I know why they won at the Fair😊
Hooray for success!!
This is the absolute best binding tutorial I’ve seen! The way you join the ends of the binding is genius. Thank You❤
Wow, thank you!
I'm 16 years old, not the best with sewing and currently making my first quilt and I just couldn't understand binding even after watching a ton of tutorials but this finally made it so easy 🥹 thank you so much! 🫶🏼

Wow, thank you!
This is my first time of making a quilt. Right now I'm making table runner. As a first timer I need help that's why I watched your video. Thank you ❤
I’m so glad it was helpful to you. Keep quilting! It is the best!
Thank you. I like how you have simplified the steps and made it so much easier to understand.
Wow!!!! What a beautiful quilt!!!! I pray I can learn to make them this good!! I’m debating on attempting my first one as a Christmas gift for my mother in law! I love your fun idea for a "love" quilt!
Wonderful!
I tried your method and was surprised at how easy it was!!! I’m planning to continue with it on all my future quilts, but will have to watch it a few more times until I have it memorized. Thanks for the easy-to-follow instructions.😊
Great job! I'm so glad!
I have been quilting for years, but have never mastered machine binding, your “how to “ video answered many of my questions! Thank you for showing your tips and techniques and how to make perfect binding. I just subscribed so I won’t miss any of your of your future videos! ~~Joyce
I'm so glad!
Best binding tutorial ever. The X join is a game changer. I went with 3” binding and got the best corners I’ve ever done, and in no time flat! Thank you!
Nice work!
Over the years I've ended up doing everything the same way you show here... except finishing the binding at the end! Until now I haven't been able to get consistent results (even after buying a binding template that is supposed to simplify the process). This is the best explanation I have ever seen and I cant wait to finish my next quilt to try it out!
I hope you love it!
I’m so happy that you’re finding my videos helpful! Keep it up and you'll be a master quilter soon!!
Thanks for that!
Thank you!
I am glad you found it helpful!
I finally got my quilt top finished and this binding tutorial worked like a charm! The way the ends went together left the nicest looking binding I've ever had! Thanks again for sharing!
Hooray for success!!
I am so glad I found your video! It all made sense the way you explained it all. After struggling for years with different ways to bind it have finally found the perfect way to bind! THANK YOU!
I’m so happy for you!

Thank you. This last bit has always confused me so much. Your way of demonstrating is so helpful.
I'm so glad!
You are a wonderful teacher . Thank you for sharing! I hope you continue to drop videos.
I am not a beginner, but this is the best binding procedure that I have ever watched! Thank you so very much 🎉
So glad!
Thank you for sharing your method of binding by machine. We can never have too many options in our quilting arsenal.
Love love your video. Same here. I have been binding like this for many uears. I am a common sense kinda quilter. Your video is what youtube use to be. A instructional informative website and not a infomercial for selling products. Thank you
Wonderful of you to say!
This worked well. I always struggle with the cut and join part. Thanks for showing how you lay them together. I did this today and it came out right the first time-no twisted binding- no seam ripping. My project looks fantastic.😊
I'm SO glad you "got" it!! Hooray!!
I am ready to bind my first quilt and do not have time to hand bind. This video is great! Thank you for the clear instruction.🏵
Wonderful!
I am SO happy you shared this. Fabric and quilting feel so satisfying in the "creation" arena. Thanks for hanging out with us!
All these years of trying to figure how to bind. Ugh. I just happened to watch this and it looks simpler when somebody is there to show you how it's done. Thank You!! I couldn't help also but notice the pretty ring on your right hand. 🥰
After being on the struggle bus with joining the ends this was pure genius. So much easier than previous techniques. Thank you so much!
So glad!
I love your teaching style! Even a beginner like me "gets it" the way you teach! Thank you so much!
And even a long-timer like me learned from watching you! Thanks!
The best tutorial I've seen for that way of binding !Thank you
You are so welcome!
Thank you.
Wow, thank you!
Thank you, Dawn. I always have to look this up/ joining the ends& invariably have to redo at least 3x. Your video showed me how to do it right- - being dyslexic- I usually sewed from wrong corner or twisted it. Just watched & did it! Easy- thanks! AmyLouise
I totally agree!
Thank you! Great video! I have watched alot of binding videos and your technique for closing your binding with the 1/8” gap is first one I’ve seen like this!! Really great!
I'm so glad it was helpful to you. Thanks for letting me know.
Fabulous.
I love your goal!! Owning a quilt machine is the best purchase EVER!!! Better than a car.
I'm starting my first quilt (a twin size for my daughter's 5th birthday), and this was very helpful!! I'm absolutely going to be using your method when I get to the binding portion. I love how you encouraged muscle memory and figuring out how to do things in a way that works for you and your brain. ❤
I love that you are going to make your daughter a quilt!! She'll be wrapped in love!
I’ve watched this video about a dozen times and still refer back to it everytime I join the binding at the end of a project. It’s THAT good of a tutorial! Thanks for dedicating the time you did to making it.
You are very welcome! It makes me so happy to hear that it is helping.
I use this video every single time I bind a quilt. One would think I could remember it, but alas, I have to use you as my brain. ❤️❤️❤️
However you need to do it!! Glad it works.
I just saved it to a tutorial playlist, so I can refer back to it as well. Perfection.
(Ginny L.)
I am so glad that you found it so helpful!! It changed my perspective on binding too!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the kind and thoughtful comment!
O k
This video just absolutely saved me! I no longer have a fear of binding quilts. Thank you so so much!
Thanks for this awesome tutorial. I have just made my first quilt. I will be watching this again when I am ready to bind it. 😊
Im a new quilter (at 70 years old), and after viewing several methods, yours looks the easiest. I have a quilt i need to re-do the binding on. Sooooo i will be watching this again to create a groove in my brain. 😊
Enjoy!
This is the most perfect binding video. Every single time.
I just finished my first quilt and used your method for the binding. It was so easy to do and turned out beautifully. Thank you so much for your tutorial!
Great job! I'm so happy for you!
One machine to rule them all,
One machine to find them,
One machine to bring them all,
and in the darkness..... BIND them! 0.o
I'm going to try this on my current quilt project. This looks fantastic. You've explained the process very well.
Have fun!
My favorite part was how you joined the ends of the binding. Genius!
Thanks for being so encouraging. I will be binding my first quilt soon and i was feeling completely overwhelmed until i saw this. I have done binding on many other things, just not a full size quilt. Thanks again for a great video!
You can do it! You will be amazed at yourself.
Absolutely the best tutorial I've seen. I've probably watched a dozen different videos and still couldn't get it. This is so clear, even for a beginner and spatially challenged person like me. :). I cannot thank you enough!!
I'm so glad it helped you!
This is my go to video for binding my quilts. She does an awesome job of explaining and showing how to made the binding, sew it on, and make those mitered corners that scare the heck out of me. Well, they did until this video! This is a fabulous video with such great information!!
Wonderful!
Glad I could help! Best wishes as you conquer this skill!!
Thank you for watching and encouraging!
Glad it was helpful!
THE BEST video I've ever watched on how to do binding! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom. Your tutorial is straight-forward and to the point and you have a very pleasant instructional voice.
Wow, thank you!
“There is a place in society for machine sewn binding” Love it! True words. Thank you for this succinct lesson on binding! Def saving this video to my “best sewing videos” so I can reference it when I need it! Until my muscle memory is firm. Thanks!!
Absolutely!!
I can't tell you how many times I have watched this. My bindings come out awesome! Thank you! 😊
Fantastic! I appreciate you!
You make this look so easy! Thank you for a perfectly clear tutorial! I am not a quilter and I only know the basics of sewibg, but now I feel I can make any quilt I want 😊❤️
You can do it!
You’re welcome! Glad this binding method makes sense for you!😊
Wow, love this tutorial. Had to watch the corners several times. The first corner was a little sad. The rest turned out really nice. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Glad it was helpful!
Best easiest to follow and sew. Easiest to see what your hand are doing, no sleight of hand stuff .Brilliant.
Glad you liked it!
Thank you so much for making this video. Binding has always been a bit of a challenge on the corners and joining the two pieces on the back. I used your method on two quilts I bound today and they came out beautiful and no problems on my corners or joining the two pieces. I appreciate you sharing. 😊
I love hearing about your success!
Hands down best tutorial for machine binding ever! Added immediately to my favorites!
I’m so glad you think so! It does change everything!
QUILTING is always happy!! I'm glad you found us.
Absolutely the best tutorial I've seen. No unnecessary waffle, straight to the point! I tried it and it worked perfectly! That "iron in the X method" is genius!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
I love hearing about success!!
Your steps make the sewing and turning so simple. As you stated trying to follow other binding stitching instructions were so confusing for me too. Thank you!
You are so welcome!
So glad this video helped!
loved it, I quilting has been on my bucket list for a long. This winter I will give it a try.
I hope you love it as much as I do!! It's such a great outlet for creativity.
