  • As you know I just bought a brand new 2023 KTM 790 Duke. Today I'm riding it for the first time with my mates putting on about 100 miles on it and see how I feel about my purchase.
    Do I regret it? Should I have gotten the 890 Duke R? Find out in this motovlog!

    Only straight up and over 1xx MP/H it wants to lift my front tire to wobble a bit.... As long as your body position gets some work in, it is stable to 1xx MP/H corners. Riding it upright makes your front want to lift due to wind... Thats What i found out.

    Up your rear preload. It will help. I had a 2020, I had to use almost all of the rear preload. Also move the handlebars to the front position.

      Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I'll try these mods :)

    Check out your steering damper ro any adjustments, they usually are adjustable. Tighten up the dampening if it is adjustable. another guy suggested dialing up the preload, that's good too. HYave never owned a KTM but looking into it. Thanks for your video.

    I own the same model. Bike is fun, but more bike doesn't translate to more fun. Im not saying it could not be better... SRK use to say "it's not what you are riding, it's where your going"

    I’ve had this wobble too when accelerating hard I’ve only ever rode in rain mode
    Only been passed my test 3 weeks

      What do you ride now?

  • @ojoimages
    @ojoimages 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    That wobble isn’t something I’ve experienced in 7000 miles on my 890. I test rode an MT09 Sp for an hour and got a major wobble. That has no damper! I also had a new 790 for a day and again no wobble. You might want to get the dealer to check if the damper has oil in it. Failing that upgrade the damper.

      I've just done the first service and they found no issues. But I've made a few changes suggested by someone that really helped. I've moved the handlebar to the forward position and upped the preload :)

    Ive not experienced any issues with the front end wobbling? Im 17st and adjust my riding position a little over the front end when accelerating

      It definitely took me some time to adjust but now I can ride it a lot more confidently. I have made adjustments to the handlebar position 👍

    i have duke 790. and i love it but... the bike is fragile. first, battery dead. after one month they replaced it crank shaft position sensor. and now rear shock absorber suddenly blows. and i will pay 1000$ to replace it. long story short, maintenance is so expensive. but engine is good. bike is so safe. UPDATE: now cooleant leaks....

      It's disappointing you ran through so many issues. I can't say the same to be honest I had zero issues so far and it's been 6 months, so 🤞

      @@gmmotomedia It has 22 thousand miles. Maybe it's normal, I don't know. I'm just hesitant about going on a long trip. Apart from that, I love it very much. I'm still waiting for the new shock absorber to arrive, they say it's 2 months away.

    Have you sorted out the front end wobble yet?

    • @gmmotomedia
      @gmmotomedia  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes I did. Moving the handlebar to the forward position and tightened the preload a bit. It's still not perfect but it's a whole lot better now.

    • @michaelrieser9928

      Shouldn’t firming up the steering damper fix that? Also I tried multiple positions of the preload on a twisty backroad. Comparing ride feel back to back on the same road and turns. It’s really easy to click the preload ring. This really gave me a different feel with each notch. I didn’t think one notch would be different but it was.
