Nice video man, but I have gotta disagree with you that you need years of experience to ride it. It all depends on individual ability.
I had not riding experience, did the basic training in the UK got a KTM Duke 125. Rode it for 2 weeks, but due to electrical faults, returned it. Went straight after to do the big licence. Went and tried a KTM Duke 790. I rode it in rain mode for the first 3-4 months, to get used to it. 1.5 years later, I ride it in track mode all the time and all throughout the winter also.
It is a lot easier to handle than many other bikes and the electronics help massively for inexperienced riders. The traction control and and lean sensive abs have definitely saved me a few times.

You’re generalising your experience to everybody else’s. A 800cc bike should never be your first bike. If you don’t want to start with something like a 50, or 125cc then I believe you should start at 3-400cc. Manageable, lightweight, and won’t kill you just because you’re full throttling it in first gear.
In europe, we're taking our license on Honda cb650 and mt07s. Those are 95hp bikes. So we're taking the final exams on those bikes. And now you're telling me that after I rode those bikes I need to buy 50 or 125cc bikes? Really?
Also, I am just taking the course getting ready for the exam. What's all this fuss with "too powerful" and whatever. That cb650 can be ridden easily with 30 kmh round town without feeling weird or anything. It feels absolutely normal. You can take it up to 4th gear in town no problem. The first time I rode it it felt just fine.
So I don't understand.
Also, some of us have 87cm inseams. You try riding tiny 300cc bikes with that measurement. The 390 duke is literally for kids, size wise. It's a joke. I tried it on. A joke.
Speaking of Caco, can we atleast show him riding these bikes for short rider reference? 🥺🥺 i’m 5’2 , our lives matter too

the new distributor of KTM in Thailand just announced 790 Duke's price a few days ago and it is really reasonable. so I came to youtube for a review and found your channel. Thank you for a great review. this bike will be a great chance for KTM to re-establish thier position in Thailand's market.

Love the sound of the 790's LC8c engine. However, there are still several leaking problems posted on Reddit. So the CB would be my personal choice. Less drama compared to owning a KTM. 😅

thats not just any ordinary ptwin,, it has a crossplane crankshaft like the mt07.. slap a full exhaust and hear the amazing exhaust note like a vtwin

Wow, the canopy made Jinno look so green in the opening shot, I thought he was dressed up to look like a Martian.
The problem with this bike is the reliability. I’m not bashing, look it up on the forums.
Man height is a issue! 825mm is too much for SE Asia. Won't be manageable in slippery conditions like mud, rain, etc

Awesome review. Interesting I went out today and test rode a 790 duke. I reckon as much as the bike has some electronics it’s best to learn on the duke 390 for sure! This is a proper animal and the loads of torque can catch you out. If you buying it for general use and commuting it’s great but if you intend to do distance bad idea as there no wind protection and it does take toll!🤓😩👌🔑

Nope. There is no 890 Duke. There is an 890 Duke R. The 790 will remain it just came out 2 years ago and you are wrong it is not phased out. KTM is even still selling the 690 Duke.
